Joan C. Diedrich
Joan C. Diedrich, nee Summers, age 69, of Ingleside for the past 16 years, formerly of Long Lake died on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at her home. She was born on August 23, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry and Martha (nee Jaworski) Summers. Joan was a retired housekeeper for the Glenkirk School in Wauconda, Illinois, was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church where she was a member of the Women's Club. She enjoyed fishing for bass, gardening, crocheting, country music and playing her guitar.
Survivors include her her husband, Joseph M. Diedrich of Ingleside with whom she was united in marriage on September 4, 1954 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Round Lake; her children, Charlene (Craig) Severs of Williams, MN, Peter Diedrich of Ingleside and Marie (Steven) Paull of Lake Forest; five grandchildren, Michelle Severs of Williams, MN, Craig (Liz) Severs Jr. of Duluth, MN, Sr. Airman Robert (Beth) Severs of Washington, Matthew Severs of Williams, MN and Alex Paull of Lake Forest; great-grandson, Addison Severs of Duluth, MN; her brothers, Ted Summers of Lake Villa and Joe Summers of Las Vegas, Nevada; and her sister, Diane (Robert) Soderdahl of Ingleside.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patricia Baldwin and a brother, Thomas Summers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. at the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, the Chapel on the Lake (1 block west of Rte. 12, 1/2 block north of Grand).
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic cemetery in Volo, Illinois.

Otis C. Gardner Sr.
Otis C. Gardner Sr., 71 of Waukegan, passed away September 7, 2004 at Condell Medical Care Center, Libertyville, IL. He was born on September 22, 1932 in Louisville, MS.
He was a member of the Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by Saint Rita Hester (Ricardo), Kerry A. Williams (Charles), 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Ruth Bullit of Columbus, MS, Hattie Miller of Yonkers, NY, followed by a host of nephew, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Amanda Gardner, Otis C. Gardner Jr., sister Dorothy Brown and brother Jasper Gardner.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 11:00 AM at BRADSHAW & RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 W. Dugdale Rd, Waukegan, IL. Rev. Anthony Conley, associate minister of Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church in North Chicago. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. Rowland Hill, Sr.
Rowland Hill, Sr., a long-time resident of Zion, IL., departed this life on Monday, September 6, 2004. He leaves to cherish his memory, his four sons, Rowland, Jr. (Brenda) and James Hill, both of Waukegan, Richard and Michael Hill, both of Zion, IL; his six daughters, Linda (William Knox) of Forrest City, AR, Gloria Whitfield and Vanessa Hill, both of Zion, IL, Yvonne (Derrick) Curry and Mary Hill, both of Tacoma, WA., Elizabeth (Eddie) Palmer, of St. Louis, MO. and granddaughter, Sandria Bankston of Kenosha, WI; two brothers, Robert (Lena) and Joe (Sadie) Buchanan, both of Zion, IL; three sisters, Ruby (W.D.) Givens, of Memphis, TN, Katie (Evester) Buchanan-Moore and Lovie (Hubert) Geater, both of North Chicago, IL; and one step-sister, Ethel Mae Gardner, of Chicago, IL; and a very dear friend, Estelle Williams, of Evanston, IL.

Beloved wife of the late Frederick J., fond mother of Darlene (Robert) Kyndberg, grandmother of Sharon (Frank) Wojtowicz & Kathleen (Robert) Jansen, great-grandmother of Derek, Brooke & Nolan Wojtowicz and Annika Jansen; sister of the late Leslie, Arthur, Harold McClure, Josephine Buchanan, Gertrude Hartleb & Mildred Brazzale. Warren E. Lauer
Warren E. Lauer, 80, of Fox Lake, IL, formerly of Wildwood for 38 years, passed away at the VA Medical Center in North Chicago on September 9, 2004. He was born on February 10, 1924 in Chicago Heights, Illinois and married
Elaine (nee Miller) in Waukegan in 1946.
Warren was a meat cutter by trade for 38 years, and retired from Cribb's Finer Foods in Waukegan in 1986.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Army, was a member of the Lake Villa VFW, and also the Wildwood Presbyterian Church. His hobbies included music, and for close to 40 years, he had his own dance band called "Lans Quartet" which played for weddings, dances and parties in Lake and Cook Counties.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; eight children, Nick (Stephanie) Lauer of Rockford, IL, Sandra Johnson of McHenry, IL, Warren (Debra) Lauer Jr. of Wonder Lake, IL, Wayne (Lori) Lauer of Austin, Texas, Glenn (Mary) Lauer of Hainseville, IL, Kurt (Kaye) Lauer of Woodbridge, VA, Laura (David) Swanson of Grayslake, IL and Matthew Lauer of Wildwood, IL; 21 grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Shook of Libertyville; and a brother, Vernon (Judy) Lauer of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Tom, Ronald, Norman and Lester.
Funeral Services for Warren E. Lauer will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 13, 2004 from the Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 33428 North Sears Blvd, Wildwood with Rev. Greg Bostrom officiating. Interment will follow at highland Memorial Park in Libertyville.

Robert F. Lind
Robert F. Lind, 79 of Gurnee, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in North Chicago, IL.
He was born July 18, 1925 in Chicago and on October 14, 1950 he married
Gretta (nee Gurland) in Waukegan.
He had been a banker for 30 years having worked at Continental Bank and merchandise bank both in Chicago and also attended Bethel Lutheran Church in Gurnee. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War having served with the U. S. Army.
He was a member of the Burnee American Legion and a 50 year member of Gurnee VFW and the Antioch Sequoia Masonic Lodge #50.
Mr. Lind had attended the University of Illinois at Galesburg and enjoyed working on his home computer, stamp collecting, reading and movies.
Survivors include his wife, Gretta; three sons, Rodney (Elizabeth) Lind of Gurnee, Robert Scott (Mary) Lind of Zion and Curtis Lind of Kenosha, Wisconsin; one daughter, Debra (Ted) Canelakes of Fairfax, VA.; five grandchildren, Samantha and Dessie Canlakes, Kristina, Austin and Andrew Lind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Helen Lind; one brother, Ronald; and one sister, Vivian Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at The Salata-Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee. Interment will be private.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-3 PM only.
Donations may be made in his memory to The Gurnee American Legion.
William "Bill" North
William "Bill" North, 76, of Waukegan, IL, passed away on September 4, 2004 at Swedish Covenant, Chicago, IL, after a short illness. William was born on June 25, 1928 to the late Sarah Sanderson and James North.
At an early age he was baptized at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the founder of his late grandfather, Rev. William Barrett.
He was employed at American Motors and retired after 30 years of services. During his retirement he enjoyed taking walks, traveling, going to McDonalds in the early mornings having coffee with his retiree buddies and spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Rose of 20 years; two daughters, Paulette North-Glover of Waukegan, IL, Michelle Sanders, North Chicago, IL; one brother, James North, Murphysboro, IL; an aunt, Beatrice McClendon, Chicago, IL; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-laws; a host of nephews, nieces, and relatives, dear friends.

Arlene Nyblom
Arlene Nyblom, a resident of Fox Lake, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the age of 73.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail (Richard) Wiegman of Lindenhurst and Deborah (Howard) Schneider of Wylie, TX; her grandchildren, Gary McMillan of Salem, WI, and Daniel Grady of Lake Villa; her great-grandchild, Hope McMillan of Salem, WI, and her brother, Norman (Margaret) Stuhl of Coral Springs, FL.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Nyblom, whom she wed September 6, 1952 in Chicago, IL.

Caroline A. Palbicke
Caroline A. Palbicke, a long time resident of Waukegan, IL, passed away Friday, September 3, 2004 in Nashville, TN, where she had recently moved. Born December 22, 1906 in LaSalle-Peru, IL, she spent her teenage years in Willard, WI before moving to Waukegan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Palbicke; brothers, John F. and Anton C. Zupansic; and her sister, Angeline M. (Zupansic) Palbicke.
She is survived by her brother, Lloyd Zupansic; a son, Joseph W. Palbicke Jr., both of Waukegan; and a daughter, Carol (Palbicke) Van Heltebrake of Nashville, TN.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Dismas Catholic Church in Waukegan, IL at 10 AM on Saturday, October 16, 2004. Visitation will be held from 9 AM October 16th until the time of Mass at 10 AM. Arrangements by The Neptune Society.
Richard E. Slusser, Sr.
Richard E. Slusser, Sr., 69, of Waukegan, passed away on Thursday September 8, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital. He was born April 19, 1935 in Waukegan and remained a lifelong resident.
He was a member of St. Patrick Parish, Served in the U.S. M.C. Reserve, member of Senior Spirit and a S.H.I.P. Program volunteer. He held an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from College of Lake County and had served on the Waukegan Police Department for 4 years, he retired from the Wauconda Police Department. Prior to his law enforcement career he had operated Richie's Mobil service station at Grand and Butrick.
He is survived by his wife, Mary J. "Jackie" (nee Paskauskas) Slusser; son, Richard E. Slusser, Jr. of Waukegan and daughter, Nancy (Fiancee, Louis Tucci) Slusser of NYC; brother, Harvey (Pat) Slusser of Waukegan, sister, Donna (Teyo) Gonzalez of Stickney, IL., brother, Theodore Gregory (Eleanor) Slusser of Stickney IL; sister-in-law, Joyce (Vern) Ladewig of Grayslake, IL, brother-in-law, James (Judy) Paskauskas of Gurnee, sister-in-law, Judy (Bernie) Vikre of Gurnee, sister-in-law, Jill (Jimmy) Smith of Ridgecrest, CA; also numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as his beloved cat, O'Brien.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Zola (nee Neece) Slusser, his sister, Ormay (Wally) Tyzenhaus; mother and father-in-law, George and Mary Paskauskas.
