Carl J. Shellenberger
Carl J. Shellenberger, 47, of Mundelein, IL, passed away suddenly, on Wednesday, September 2, 2004 at his home. He was born July 29, 1957 in Waukegan, attended Mundelein High School and had lived there for most of his life.
Surviving are his dear friend, Deborah and son Cord Shellenberger, both of Mundelein; his father, Allen Shellenberger of Mundelein; two brothers, Craig (Jeanne) Shellenberger of Gulfport, MS and Dale Shellenberger of Pendleton, IN; several nieces and nephews; and his aunt, Inez Wheeland of Libertyville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Shellenberger on January 29, 1990.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 7 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville, with the Rev. Thomas O'Connor, Pastor of the Community Protestant Church in Mundelein, officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM, until time of services on Tuesday.
Franklin C. Stanley
Franklin C. Stanley, 20, a former resident of Mundelein, IL passed away suddenly Friday, September 3, 2004 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Grundy County, IL. He was born November 19, 1983 in Portsmouth, VA, was a former resident of South Carolina, living in Lake County for the past 10 years. He was a 2002 graduate of Mundelein High School, where he was a cheerleader and active with the show choir and theatre. Frank was currently a junior at Illinois State University in Normal, where he was also on the cheerleading squad. He was a member of the Crossroads Church in Grayslake, where he was an active member of the youth group and had participated in three overseas mission trips.
Surviving are his fiancee, Stephanie Willding of Chicago; his parents, Julie Stanley of Brownsburg, IN and Michael (Christina) Stanley of Ladson, SC; his brother, William of Brownsburg; grandmother, Lillie Smith of Iuka, MS; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his 10 year old brother, Nathan in 1996.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, September 8th at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem cemetery in Elmhurst. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM on Tuesday.
Alex C. Vucitech
A Memorial Service will be held for Alex C. Vucitech, 80, of Fort Meyers, FL., formerly of Libertyville, on Sunday, September 12, 2004 at 4:30 PM at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 West Maple Ave. (2 blks west of RT45 on RT176) Mundelein. He was born on July 25, 1924 in North Chicago, IL., and passed away Monday, August 23, 2004 in Fort Meyers, FL.
A Navy Veteran, Alex was the youngest Chief Petty Officer in the Navy during WWII. He also was the owner of Profile Gear in Libertyville and was a member of the Bob-O-Link Golf Club.
Alex is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lois (nee Welch) children, Pamela (Lawrence) Schmidt, Robin (Carolyn) Vucitech; dear grandchild, Kelly L. Christian; dear step-grandchildren, Michael (Kellie) Schmidt, Andrea (William) Joerger, Sandra (David) Nelson, James (Margaret) Schmidt; thirteen dear step-great-grandchildren; adoring sister, Louise Doran; fond nieces, Patricia Doran and Michelle Curry.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Stephen Vucitech and Agnes Rowland.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 12, 2004 from 2-6 PM at Kristan Funeral Home.
Ada Rea Bigelow
Ada Rea Bigelow, 90, of Kenosha, Wisconsin died on Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
Ada was born June 20, 1911 in Crete, Illinois, came to Zion in 1953 and moved to Kenosha in 1998. While in Zion she attended Zion Revival Center.
Survivors include one son Jerry Rea of Mauston, Wisconsin; one daughter Jean (Gary) Christianson of Kenosha; five grandchildren Rhonda Christianson, Ryan (Christine) Christianson, Rebecca (Harold) Cilley, Regina (Travis) Schlagel and Darcy Rea; and five great grandchildren: Rachael, Keith, Craig, Curt and Cara. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harry Rea in 1980, by her second husband John Bigelow in 1997, one infant daughter Mary Ellen Rea, by her father and mother, Shepherd and Mary Buffington, by two brothers Edward Buffington and Arthur Moody and one sister Hallie Burt.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Rev. Jim Striegler, Associate Pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church of Kenosha officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 noon until time of services at the Funeral Home.
Diane L. Dixon
Diane L. (Mitchell) Dixon, 71, of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away September 3, 2001 at Lake Forest Hospital.
She was born June 20, 1930 in Waukegan to John L. and Kathryn E. (nee Brown) Mitchell, and was a lifelong Waukegan resident. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Charter Member of Brentwood Swim and Tennis Club, Gurnee Mills Mall Walkers, and the W.T.H.S. Lunch Bunch Class of 1948. Diane was also active in the restoration project of the Historic Genesee Theatre in downtown Waukegan.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin H. Dixon, Jr.,; and three daughters: Carrie Taylor of Waukegan, Heather (Jim) Dorsey of Round Lake Beach and Melissa (Jim) King of Kenosha, WI., and one son, Stephen Burkhart of Ventura, CA.; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John W. Mitchell.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 7, 2001 from the First United Methodist Church, 128 N. Utica St., Waukegan with Rev. Omar Logan and Rev. Harlene Hardin officiating. Interment will be at Millburn cemetery, Millburn, IL.

Robert J. Gambony
Robert J. Gambony, 82, of Wildwood, Illinois passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at his home. He was born in Chicago on September 24, 1928, the son of the late Francis and Amelia (nee Velmain) Gambony. For 23 years, he served as the head window clerk at the Round Lake Post Office. He served in the U.S. Army where he was an aide to General Douglas MacArthur and was a Procurement Officer at the U.S. Embassy. He attended St. Gilbert Catholic Church and was a member of the Grayslake American Legion. He was an avid fisherman and a football fan, especially a Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife Mary (nee Knox) Gambony, whom he married
on May 15, 1978 in Waukegan; two sons: Robert James (Nancy) Gambony of Lake Villa and Anthony Gambony of Wildwood; four daughters: Beth (Arthur) Hillson and Karen Sheldon, both of Gurnee; Laura Gambony of Wildwood and Gina Gambony of Wilmington, N.C.; three grandsons: Christopher Sheldon, Oskar and Max Gambony; three step-grandsons: Jeff, David and Rich; and one brother Francis Gambony of Califon, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Ferne (nee Bertram) Gambony, who died in January of 1965; one son Joseph Gambony who died in March, 1985; an infant daughter Belinda Gambony and his twin brother Donald Gambony who died on Nov. 9, 2000.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 310 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL. 60030 with Rev. Fr. Robert Beaven as celebrant. Ervin Joseph Grygo
Ervin Joseph Grygo, 79 of Park City and formerly of North Chicago, IL. died Sunday, September 2, 2001 at Provena St. Therese Hospital, Emergency Room.
He was born June 6, 1922 in North Chicago and has lived in this area all of his life. Ervin drove a truck for Coke, Pepsi, and Budweiser, and after retirement, he worked for the Illinois Toll Way Commission. He was a former member of Holy Rosary Church, an Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of the Teamsters Union Local 301.
Ervin is survived by a step-daughter, Julie Neises of Techachapi, CA., three grandchildren, Todd Neises, Tracy Hill and Scott Rutherford, one brother, Alfred (Dolores) Grygo, three sisters, Henrietta (John) Arnold, Dolores Colligan and Genevieve Wysiatko. And his many friends at Ted's on Belvidere.
Ervin was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline and his parents, Joseph and Anna (nee Salata).
Funeral services will be 11:00a.m. Friday, September 7, 2001 at the SALATA FUNERAL HOME, 729 14th St. North Chicago. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the SALATA FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
Melvinia Hardy
Melvinia Hardy, 70, of Waukegan passed away August 31, 2001 at the Pavilion of Waukegan.
She was born May 12, 1931 in Westpoint, MS., to Robert and Luegene Anderson. She was a member of Trinity A.M.E. Church, Waukegan. She retired from Victory Memorial Hospital with 22 years of service.
She is survived by one daughter, Denise Hardy, two sons, Carl Hardy and Bobby Hardy, one step-daughter, Rita Cobb all of Waukegan, and a host of other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jonnie W. Hardy, her parents, two brothers, Martin Anderson and Henry Anderson, and one step-son, Johnny L. Hardy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2001 at the Trinity A.M.E. Church, 210 South Ave., Waukegan, IL. Pastor Reginald Blount officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Lillian Nerud
Lillian Nerud, 89 years old of Antioch, IL. passed away Saturday, September 1, 2001 at Victory Lakes Continuing Care Center, Lindenhurst, IL. She was born August 24, 1912 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Jerry and Augusta (Vadinsky) Kuchta. Lillian moved to Antioch in 1956 where she was a home maker. On June 20, 1936, she married
William Nerud in Chicago and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1985.
Survivors are 3 nieces including Nancy (Jim) Eskew of Buena Park, CA., and 1 nephew Bud (Betty) Rosenberg of Downers Grove, IL., several great nieces and nephews including Wayne (Terry) Rosenberg of Downers Grove, IL., and her brother in law, Joe Nemec of Antioch. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son William D. Nerud in 1963, 1 brother George Kuchta, 1 sister Marie Nemec and 2 infant sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, September 8, 2001 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83). Interment will be in Grass Lake cemetery, Antioch. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 until 8 P.M. Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the Antioch Rescue Squad, in her memory.
Ronald J. Schwegler
Ronald J. Schwegler, 82 of Lake Forest, Illinois passed away September 3, 2001 at Lake Forest. He was born June 12, 1919 in Port Byron, Illinois. Mr. Schwegler was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waukegan and was a previous layleader at First United Methodist Church. He was a member of numerous scientific organizations. He retired from Abbott Laboratories after 43 years.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Genevieve, 2 daughters Carol (Joseph) Longo and Janet (Cliff) White, 6 grandchildren: Susan (Brian) Zorc, Joel Longe, Leigh Ann (Brian) May, Ronald (Renee) Longe, Krissy (Steve) Zimmer, and Carrie (Vern) Carthew, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 sister June (Jim) Franks. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Adella Schwegler.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 7, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE. Burial will follow at North Shore Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Anthony Shebesta
Anthony Shebesta, 93, of North Chicago, Illinois passed away September 2, 2001 at Rolling Hills Manor. He was born August 5, 1908 in Waukegan, Illinois.
Mr. Shebesta retired from U.S. Steel in 1971 after 42 years of employment.
Survivors include three sons: Donald A. (Desiree) of Woodbridge, CA., Kenneth A. (Kathleen) of Waukegan and Daniel W. of Las Vegas, Nevada, twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores in 1998 along with several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 7, 2001 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington Street, Waukegan. Burial will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Thursday and 10-11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Dennis Louis White departed this life as he quietly went to sleep on September 1, 2001 at ECM Hospital in Florence, AL. He was born in Waukegan, IL on May 9, 1950.

William "Bill" J. Drews
William "Bill" J. Drews, age 91, a longtime resident of the Long Lake and Fox Lake area, and the former owner of Long Lake's Grub Hill Oil Co. and George and Helen's Tavern, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at the St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, IL.
He was born in Chicago, IL on January 11, 1911 to William and Minnie (nee Gartz) Drews, and was first employed with Armstrong Tool Co. in Chicago, IL. He was also employed as a custodian for 19 years at the Grant Community High School in Fox Lake. He was a very active social member of the Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. and had attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake. He was a lifetime member of the Grayslake Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #115, and a Master Mason.
Survivors include his wife, June H. (nee Barrett) Drews of Spring Grove, IL; two sons, William "Bill" G. (Linda) Drews of Spring Grove, IL, Robert "Bob" (Vicky) Drews of Spring Grove, IL; a daughter, Diane (Gordon Diesgen of Spring Grove, IL; by his grandchildren, Danny Carole, Gordy (Nannette) Kiesgen, Brian (Cheryl) Kiesgen, Nicole (Mike) Sprague, Michael Drews, Neal Drews, and Alex Drews, all of Spring Grove, IL; by his great grandchildren, Danny Carole, Kalie Carole, Gordon Kiesgen IV, Benjamin Kiesgen and Patrick Sprague all of Spring Grove, IL.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Drews and his sister, Edna Drews.
Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, September 8, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd. Fox Lake, IL (The Chapel on the Lake). Friends are invited to arrive from 12:30 p.m. on through time of Memorial Services.
