He was born March 28, 1922 in Stamford, Nebraska, the son of the late Pearl Althea Fasnacht Brown and Frank Jackson Brown. The family lived throughout Nebraska and nearby states, but Beatrice, Nebraska was home. In 1939 he joined the Navy, and served his country for almost 21 years, including numerous actions in the Pacific Theatre in WWII. For his heroic efforts in helping to save his ship, the cruiser Reno, torpedoed in November 1944, he was presented the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, plus the Purple Heart. On New Year's Eve, 1949, he met Betty G. Mogg of Gages Lake, Illinois. They married

A master woodworker, an inventor, and an avid gardener, he always had a tender heart for animals, not to mention being a loving and loyal husband and father. He was a perfectionist in all he did.
