Geraldine J. Grana
Geraldine J. Grana, of Zion, IL passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Midwestern Medical Center in Zion, IL.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Mikels of Necedah, Wisconsin, Clifford Mikels of Zion, IL, and Everett Mikels of Beach Park, IL; and a daughter, Deborah Ring of Lake Villa, IL.
She was preceded in death by her son who died in infancy, Edward Mikels; her mother, Johanna C. Grana; father, Rosario Grana; brother, David Grana; and sister, Rose.
She is survived by her twin brother, Gerald (Jackie) Grana, brother, John (Joyce) Grana; and sisters, Susan Freeman and Carol (Rich) Miller.
Funeral arrangements were private.

Betty Lou Morse
Betty Lou Morse, 81, of Winthrop Harbor, IL and formerly of Madison, WI, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2004 at the Midwestern Medical Center in Zion. She was born on August 1, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa, and was the only child of the late Harold and Ethel Tuttley Davis. Betty Lou was a 1945 graduate of the St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago. She married J. Lowell Morse in 1948 and attended both the Christian Assembly Church and the Faith Homes in Zion. Betty Lou was retired from the former Northeast Healthcare Center in Zion where she served as Director of Nursing. She was a member of the Illinois Chapter of the Mayflower Society, and was a devout Christian, a covenant partner of Benny Hinn, a loving mother, and a special grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by four children, David B. (Hazel) Morse of Winthrop Harbor, Timothy H. Morse of Chicago, Andrew S. (Dana L.) Morse of Kenosha, WI and Todd N. (Christine) Morse of Edgerton, WI; six grandchildren, Dana R. (Carl Sr.) Harris, Dawn (Tommie) Jones, Celeste and Angel Morse and Joe and Dawn Davis; and seven great grandchildren, Alex Jones Morse, Tommie IV and David Jones, Carl Jr., Christopher and Ciarra Harris and Janae Pruett. All of her great grandchildren knew her as Grandma Buffy. Betty Lou was preceded in death by her husband, J. Lowell Morse in 1998.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 2 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion. Visitation will be from 12 PM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Zion Faith Homes, 2820 Eshcol Ave., Zion, IL, 60099.

M. Loy Olesen
M. Loy Olesen, 84, of Beach Park, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2004 at his home.
He was born April 3, 1920 in Amsterdam, New York to Carl E. Olesen and Muriel M. Blunck. Loy has been a resident of Illinois since 1955. He was a graduate of Wilber H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam, the American Academy of Embalming and Mortuary Research in New York and the Gottlieb Memorial Hospital School of Respiratory Therapy in Illinois. Loy was a Funeral Director at his own funeral home in Broadalbin, New York until a serious injury forced him to change careers.
For the past 20 years, Loy had volunteered his services at Midwestern Regional Medical Center and at Child Evangelism, both of Zion and at Vista Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. He was a founding member of the Village Church of Gurnee and for the past several years a faithful attender at Christ Community Church in Zion.
Loy is survived by a son, Craig Olesen; a daughter, Christine E. McKenzie of Tennessee; four granddaughters, Molly, Jennifer, Leanne and Sarah; three grandsons, Michael, Ryan and Scott; two great-granddaughters, Britton and Anna; one great-grandson, Kayle; a special nephew, Albert; other nieces, nephews, cousins, and his brother in Christ, Allen Deacon of Beach Park.
Loy was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Gunning who he married on August 15, 1962; his parents; and his dear sister, Doris.
Graduation services will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the Church. Private family interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville. Memorial contributions to STAR Hospice at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan have been suggested. Funeral arrangements entrusted to CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, Zion. (847) 746-1234.

Richard C. Ruck, Jr.
Richard C. Ruck, Jr., 68 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington, IL. He was born March 8, 1936 in Richmond Hills, NY the son of the late Richard and Edna (Eberhardt) Ruck. He graduated from the Brooklyn Poly Technical College with an electrical engineering degree and had worked for Recon Optical in Barrington for over forty years. During his career some of his accomplishments included being a camera mock up man for the movie Thirteen Days, was one of the people who received the patent for the long-life focal plane shutter for reconnaissance cameras, and was very knowledgeable in film based reconnaissance equipment. He served with the Army Reserves and enjoyed woodworking.
On August 1, 1964 he married Ellen Bodine in Barrington, IL.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ellen; two sons, Richard C., II MD (Marisol) of Ft. Benning, GA and Edward H. (Valerie) of Lake Villa, IL; his grandchildren, Alejandro and Katelyn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, June.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 11, 2004 at the United Methodist Church of Antioch, 848 Main St. Antioch, IL with Pastor Gary L. Curl, officiating. Interment will be Millburn cemetery, Old Mill Creek, IL. Visitation from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83), Antioch and at the Church on Monday from 9AM until time of services. Donald F. Rules
Donald F. Rules, 77, a lifetime Waukegan resident, passed away suddenly Sunday, October 2, 2004 at his home. Don was born July 7, 1927 to the late Frank and Ailie.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Waukegan, served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and retired as a lieutenant, with the Waukegan Fire Dept. in 1981, after 23 years of service.
Don is survived by his daughters, Donna (Donald) Downs of Fox Lake, IL and Marcia (Jim Katina) Rules of Goodyear, AZ; sisters, Jean Derrick of Port St. Lucie, FL and Violet (William) Kugler of Goldvein, W. VA; along with nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Margaret "Peggy" in 2000; and a brother, Howard in 1998.
He enjoyed fishing, bird watching and was a diehard Cub fan, "wait 'til next year".
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2720 McAree Rd., Waukegan, IL with Rev. John Shumate officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Private interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Salata Gurnee Funeral Home.

Robert Simpson, Sr. "Bob"
Robert Simpson, Sr., 79, of Zion, died on Friday, October 8, 2004 at his home. Bob was born February 8, 1925 in Porter, MN, and came to Lake County in 1959.
Bob was a member of Lakeview Church of Zion and he retired from Abbotts in 1990. He was also a Veteran of both World War II and the Korean conflict and he belonged to the Waukegan American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Vi; one son, Robert "Bobby" (Beth) Simpson, Jr. of Wadsworth; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Andrea, Kaitlyn, Mikaela and Drew Dahlman and Zachary and Hanna Simpson; two brothers, John (Avis) Simpson of St. Paul, MN and Don Simpson of South Dakota; and one sister, Lorraine (Orlin) Foss of Roswell, NM.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Dahlman in 2000; two sisters, Esther Kompline and Hazel Friedrichs; one brother, Howard Simpson; and his parents, Morton and Martha Simpson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, 2004 from 5:00, until 7:00 PM at Lakeview Church, 19th and Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at Lakeview Church, with Pastor Les Martin, officiating. Entombment will be Wednesday, October 13th at Warren cemetery, Gurnee, with the procession leaving Lakeview Church at 10:30 AM. Arrangements under the care of CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, (847) 746-1234.

Dr. Leonard N. Allegretti
Dr. Leonard N. Allegretti, 82, of Ingleside, IL, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2002 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born September 8, 1920 in Chicago, lived in several Chicago suburbs for most of his life and Ingleside for the past 3 years. He was a 1944 graduate of Loyola University Dental School and had a practice in Niles for many years. He was also a Dental Officer in the US Navy, having served in the Pacific Theatre and Hawaii during and after WW II. He was a member of the Chicago Dental Society and served on the staff of Resurrection and several other Chicago area hospitals.
Surviving are his wife Diane Allegretti of Ingleside; 2 children, Dr. Peter (Mary Ann) Allegretti of Libertyville and Christine (Joseph) Sobotka of Cambridge, WI; 11 grandchildren, Peter, Nicholas, Joseph, Marguerite, Anthony and Thomas Allegretti; Joseph and Evie Sobotka; Clarine, Matt and Bart Balla; Diane's children, Guy Detlo of Chicago, Debra (Michael) Schoop of Hoffman Estates and Mark (Michele) Detlo of Huntley and their children, Joseph, Francis, Mark, Matthew, Luke, Erika, Katie and Michael; and his sister, Lorayne (Anthony) Cascino of Winnetka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonardo and Rosina Allegretti, by his first wife Clarine in 1985, by a daughter Diane Balla and 12 brothers and sisters.
Prayers will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville and services will continue to St. Joseph Church in Libertyville for funeral mass at Noon. Interment will follow at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.

Wilma Jean "Jeanelle" Johnson Gomillia Buchanan
Wilma Jean "Jeanelle" Johnson Gomillia Buchanan, 47, passed away unexpectedly in Zion, IL on Wednesday, October 2, 2002
She was born in Twist, Arkansas on June 10, 1955 to Delores and the late Lonnie Charles Johnson.
She is survived by her mother, Delores Johnson of Chicago, IL; three children; Alicia Marie Gomillia, Kenneth Devon Gomillia and Valencia Caprice Gomillia; she is also survived by many loving friends and family members including two very special friends, Lakeitha Rothwell and Shaquieta Almond.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at the BRADSHAW & RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL. Verlene M. Butt (nee Folker)
Verlene M. Butt (nee Folker), age 69, an Antioch and Lake Villa resident for the past 20 years, formerly of Niles, Michigan, died on Sunday, October 6, 2002 at Manor Health Care in Arlington Heights, IL. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 29, 1933 to Cyrus H. and Altheia E. (nee Boyd) Folker.
She was an Engineering Clerk for AT&T; in Schaumburg, Illinois for 20 years, retiring in 1997.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Diane) Butt of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Michael Butt of Fox Lake and Greg (Ellen) Butt of Hoffman Estates; one daughter, Sherri (Kevin) Murray of Ingleside; two grandsons, Michael and Kevin; four granddaughters, Lindsey, Kaila, Nicole and Danielle; six brothers, Marvin (Jean) Folker of East Moline, IL, Norman (Marion) Folker of Bloomingdale, Georgia, Ron (Ellen) Folker of Farmington, Iowa, Paul (Karen) Folker of Burlington, Iowa, Jim (Roxanne) Folker of Mt. Sterling, Iowa and Steve Folker of Farmington, Iowa; five sisters, Virginia Carnes of Gladstone, IL, Verna (Claire) Lubke, Joyce (Earl) Rutledge, all of Warsaw, Missouri, Sharon Folker of Burlington, Iowa and Delores Moser of New Boston, IL; her sister-in-law, Margaret Folker of Bloomingdale, Georgia; nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Butt; three brothers, Cyrus, Dale and Bob.
Friends of the family may call on Thursday, October 10, 2002 from 4-8PM at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, Ltd., 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, IL where Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:00PM. Interment will be private.

Dorothy F. Halas
Dorothy F. Halas, 78, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2002 at her home. She was born May 27, 1924 in Waukegan and was a member of Trinity United Lutheran Church. Dorothy did volunteer work in numerous political campaigns as well as with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Her love of live theater performances motivated her long involvement with the Friends of the Historic Genesee Theatre. She was employed at American Can Company and Deepfreeze before devoting her life to her family as a stay-at-home mom and homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Debra Halas of Waukegan, Pamela (Douglas) Freeman of Zion and Douglas (Launa) Halas of Waukegan, and a granddaughter, Sarah Hals, also of Waukegan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, in 1982, her parents Vanner and Mildred Setterman, and a brother Van Setterman.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2002 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan. Burial will be in Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Charlotte R. Johnson
Charlotte R. Johnson, 70, of Waukegan died on Monday, October 7, 2002 in Kenosha.
She was born November 3, 1931 in Chicago, moved to Waukegan in 1951 and lived in Pennsylvania from 1990 until 2000. She was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church of Beach Park.
Survivors include her seven children, Robert (Liz) Johnson, Jr., of Winthrop Harbor, Janice (Charlie) Durham of Capron, Illinois, Susan Yuhase of Kenosha, Kathleen (David) Williams of Waukegan, Thomas Johnson of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Edwin (Roberta) Johnson of Wausau, Wisconsin and Kenneth (Jill Colbert) Johnson of Kenosha; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her mother Marie Litz of York, Pennsylvania; one sister Joyce Simpson of York, Pennsylvania; and one brother James (Dawn) Litz also of York.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1975 and by her father John Litz.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Rev. Leona Smitherman of Winthrop Harbor officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
