Edward Everett Combs, 68, of Zion, IL passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2002 while surrounded by his family.
Ed was born on January 28, 1934 in Waukegan, the son of Mary Allen and Robert Combs.
Ed was a truck driver for many years and loved to travel, and was always on the go. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by 12 children, Marcella (Scott) Adolphs of Beach Park, IL, Everett Combs of Zion, IL, Mary Soper of Wittenberg, WI, Sandra (Robert) Creamer of Zion, IL, Maxine (Mike) Billick of Zion, IL, James (Dawn) Combs of Zion, IL, Robert (Jessica) Combs of Beach Park, IL, Abby (Jason) Campbell of South Charlston, WV, Leslie Combs and Lisa Combs both of South Charleston, WV, Heather Combs and Angela Combs both of Zion, IL; a brother, Oscar (Becky) Combs of North Judson, IN; a sister, Dora (George) Younker of Summerton, SC; a half brother, George (Irene) Godsey of Campton, KY; and many grandchildren; great grandchildren, cousins and other friends and family.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at 5 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.
Visitation will be Sunday, form 2 PM until time of Services at the funeral home. Burial will be later in Allen cemetery, Pigeon Roost, Kentucky.
Carl E. Esler
Carl E. Esler, 58 of Round Lake Park passed away Thursday, November 28, 2002 at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago.
He was born in Chicago on June 1, 1944. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 705 and retired in 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol (nee Reineke) Esler; his sons, Ken (Colleen) Esler of Round Lake Park and Steve (Robin) Esler of Lindenhurst; his grandchildren, Josh and Rachel Esler of Round Lake Park and Emma and Sofie of Lindenhurst; his father, Don Esler of Wisconsin; his brothers, Alan Esler of Round Lake Park and Don Esler of Thornton; his sisters, Charlotte Tull of Orland Park, Donna Esler of Florida and Sue Steele of Thornton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Esler.
Funeral Services will be at 3 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL, 60030. Interment is private.
Friends of the family may visit at the funeral chapel on Sunday from 11 AM until 3 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Imogene Hayes Grace
Imogene Hayes Grace, of Lake Bluff, passed away on November 7, 2002, at Evanston Hospital. Imogene was born on April 2, 1927, in Linn County, Missouri, and after moving to Lake County in the late 1940s, she taught elementary school in the Waukegan and Lake Bluff public school systems and at the Lake Forest Country Day School. Imogene was an active member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) an a dedicated civic volunteer. She received a 1999 Community Service Award from the Illinois Parks and Recreational Association and the 2000 Jack Benny Arts & Humanities Award for the Waukegan Park District for her volunteer work at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts.
Imogene is survived by her husband of 51 years, Everett E. Grace; children, David (Valerie) Grace, Melanie (Patrick) Peyton, Peter Grace, and James (Marion) Grace; and grandchildren, Jessica, Thomas, Matthew, Katie, Robert, and Kelsey. She is also survived by her sister, Darla (Charles) Snyder and brother, Daryl (Carolyn) Hayes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vonnie O. and Lucinda Jane (nee Harrington) Hayes; brothers, Royal Hayes and Roy Lavonne Hayes; and sister, Mildred Parson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2002, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 6080 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Imogene's name to the First Christian Church or to your favorite charity of choice.
Henry Allen Hughes II
Henry Allen Hughes II, 56, of Zion died on Sunday, November 24, 2002.
Henry was born August 11, 1946 in Chicago. He worked for the Zion Police Department from 1970-1997 when he retired.
Survivors include one son, Henry Allen Hughes III; one daughter-in-law, Delsy Hughes; one sister, Violin Hughes; two cousins, Franklin and Braxton Harris; former wife Charlotte Hughes; and many friends and colleagues. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry A. Hughes and Helen L. Hughes; and one brother, Lance Hughes.
Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2002 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Caroline Kazmierczak
Caroline Kazmierczak, 89, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
She was born October 8, 1913 in Chicago, was a former resident of Elmwood Park and a recent resident of Libertyville. Caroline was very kind, giving and considerate, enjoyed gardening and was a former employee of Victor Comptometer Co. in Chicago.
Surviving are her son, Conrad (Kathleen) Kamer of Libertyville; her daughter, Lydia (Joseph) LoSocco of Elmwood Park; three grandchildren, Deborah (Ted) Tyler of Grayslake, IL, Daniel Kamer of Bloomington and Stacy Kamer of Libertyville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1970; by her grandson, Randall Lada; and a sister, Frances Smolen.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave (Rte, 176), Libertyville with the time of services pending for Sunday evening. A Graveside Service will be held at Ridgewood cemetery in Des Plaines on Monday. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Charity of your choice in her memory.
Juan R. Lopez
Juan R. Lopez, 83, of Waukegan passed away Thursday, November 28, 2002.
He was born September 19, 1919 in Monterrey, Mexico.
He was a member of Mexicanos Unidos and L.U.L.A.C. Chapter #1810.
Mr. Lopez is survived by his loving wife, Loreta Lopez; five children, luis (Galdina) Lopez, Angel Lopez, Elva (Raul) Gonzalez, Juan F. (Delia) Lopez and Javier Lopez; many grandchildren; and a brother, Lino (Irene) Luna.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene De La Cerda; and two brothers, Venancio Luna and Domingo Luna.
Grave Side Funeral Services will be at 10 AM Monday, December 2, 2002 at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Sunday, December 1, 2002 in the MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL.
Virginia A. Mitchell
Virginia A. Mitchell, 74, of Grayslake passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at the home of her daughter.
She was born February 6, 1928 in Waukegan, the daughter of the late Henry and Esther Belzer.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Karen) Volger of Las Vegas, NV, Mark Volger of Zion and James Mitchell of Grayslake; her daughter and loving caregiver, Donna (Joseph) Fick of Waukegan; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; her sister, Betty Hagopian; sisters-in-law, Virginia (Robert) Belzer and Rosetta (Ralph) Belzer; brothers-in-law, Donald Johnson and Louis Lowy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Veto Mitchell; daughter, Tina Volger; her brothers, Ralph and Robert Belzer; and her sisters, Eleanore Johnson and Barbara Lowy.
Funeral Services are private.

Jerry Paramski
Jerry Paramski, 55, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2002 in his home in Grayslake surrounded by his family.
He was born May 22, 1947 in Waukegan, IL and lived in Lake Bluff, IL before moving to Grayslake with his wife, Dianna, 32 years ago.
He worked as a Lake County Building Inspector, previously with Baird & Warner Realty in Gurnee, was the owner of Microtouch Computers in Gurnee, vice president of Computer Showroom in Barrington and was a carpenter & contractor in Lake County.
Jerry was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee. He belonged to the Association of Realtors, the American Legion, the P.O.W., he was a Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient.
He attended Mother of God Grade School, Lake Forest High School, and went to college at CLC and SIU.
Survivors include his wife, Dianna Dale (nee Scheele) Paramski, his children, Brenda (Jay) Alderson of Mission Viejo, CA, Eric Paramski of Grayslake & Jerilynn Paramski of Grayslake, his grandchildren Hailey & Jaden, his brother, James (Sharon) Paramski of Crystal Falls, MI, his nephew Peter (Tracy) Paramski of Newberry, MI, his niece Denise (Pete) Maloney of Iron River, MI and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Mary (nee Ban) Paramski.
Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Gurnee, IL. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM Monday, December 2, 2002 at the SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave and again from 10 AM until time of Mass on Tuesday at the church. Donations to the S.T.A.R. Hospice and Make A Wish Foundation will be appreciated.
Kenneth Dean Smith
Kenneth Dean Smith, 73, of Grandwood Park, IL, passed away Friday, November 29, 2002 at the Lake Forest Hospital following a short term illness.
He was born April 3, 1929 in Lincoln, NE and served in the Navy from 1948 to 1970. Our dad was a retired Master Chief Petty Officer and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In 1971, he worked for JC Penny and retired from there in 1992. He was a Boy Scout Master from Troop #72 in Japan and Scoutmaster for Gurnee Troop #74 for many years. Ken served as President of Grandwood Park Civic Association as well as many volunteer positions. We are proud to have learned so much from him and we love him and will miss him greatly.
Surviving are his bride of almost 50 years, Umeko "Mickie"; sons, Phillip (Jamie) Smith of Fortson, GA and Kevin (Mary) Smith of Gurnee; grandchildren, James, Parker and Kevin Jr (Tracy) Smith and Katie (Henry) Paustenbach, John (Melanie) and Greg (Nicole Rudd; great grandchildren are Angelica and Kaitlynn Smith and Johnny and Clarissa Rudd and a great grandchild due in the spring.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Monday, December 2, 2002 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W Park Ave (Rt.176), Libertyville. A family service will be during the visitation. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Lung Association or the Boy Scouts of America in his memory.
Gilbert T. Thornborough
Gilbert T. Thornborough, age 72, went to meet God Tuesday, November 26, 2002. He was being cared for at home by his family and Star Hospice. He was born December 14, 1929 and resided in Waukegan all his life, except for three years spent in Ocala, Florida.
He is a member of the Eckankar faith. He was employed by Amoco Tool, North Chicago Hardware Foundry and Cyclone Fence. While he was employed at the City of Highland Park, he was Manager/Treasurer of the Highland Park Employees Credit Union. He reitred from the City of Highland Park in 1993 where he worked as the City Purchasing Agent. He was also a volunteer with Star Hospice and St. Therese Home Health. He was a docent at the Art Museum in Ocala, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dixie Thornborough (nee Hubert) and their four daughters, Loralee (John) Osbron of West Virginia, Pamela Steinruck of Florida, Therese (Larry) Rogers of California and and Elizabeth Baruffi of Gurnee and their six sons, Jeffrey (Michelle) of Beach Park, Paul (Patricia) of Antioch, Josh (Lynette) of Florida, Daniel (Renee) of Kenosha, David (Joy) of Waukegan and Erik of Beach Park; eighteen grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Hund of Waukegan and his brother, Raymond (Janet) Thornborough of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a baby brother.
The family will meet with friends and family on Sunday, December 1, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. at 10178 Crissy avenue, Beach Park. For further information, call (847)249-3631. Eckankar service will be held at 9 a.m. and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. both at St. Dismas Catholic Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan on Monday, December 2, 2002.
