Karen Vivian Barker
Karen Vivian Barker, the daughter of Myrtis and the late George Barker, Jr. departed this earthly life Sunday, November 23, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, IL. She was born March 5, 1961 in Waukegan, IL.
Karen grew up in the church attending Sunday School and a member of the Youth choir. She became a member of Shiloh at the age of eight, and was baptized by the late Pastor J. N. Lightfoot.
She attended Mother of God Grade School and Webster Junior High School, and in 1979, she graduated from Waukegan West High School. For almost two years, she attended the College of Lake County.
She was a 1979 debutante of the North Shore Community Service League. She enjoyed music, photography and reading. She was employed for a short while, however, because of her illness, she became unable to work.
Karen leaves to cherish her memory her mother; three brothers, Lenardo, Marlon and Clarence of Waukegan; an uncle, Steve Johnson of Opopka, Florida; an aunt, Earnestine Moore of Compton, California; five nieces; four nephews; a grand nephew; many cousins; other relatives; and her church family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; half brother, Ervin; an aunt, Bernice Johnson; a maternal uncle; and two paternal uncles.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 11 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church, 800 South Genesee Street, Waukegan, IL, 60085 with Pastor Walstone Francis officiating. Visitation begins at 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be at Sunset cemetery, Northbrook, IL.

Robert E. Daum
Robert E. Daum, age 39, of Lindenhurst, formerly of Kenosha, died Sunday, November 23, 2003. He was born November 28, 1963 at Taos, New Mexico.
Robert loved spending time with his girls, listening to jazz, stock car race fan, fishing. He worked for the Illinois Tollway for 21 years, graduated from Waukegan High School and worked part-time at Jewel-Osco. He volunteered many hours at the schools his girls attended. He traveled the U.S. and Europe with his parents.
He is survived by two children, Jacqueline R. Daum and Elizabeth R. Daum; parents, Joe and Jane Edstrom; two brothers, Joseph W. (Tina) Edstrom and Kevin L. Edstrom; a special friend, Donna Nelson.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 29 at 10:30 AM from St. Patrick Catholic Church, 15000 W. Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth, IL. Burial will be private. Visitation at 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday at church.

Violet Faber
Violet Faber, age 79, of Gages Lake, IL, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Libertyville Condell Medical Center. She was born November 28, 1923 in Pennsylvania.
She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church and Friendship Club of Grayslake. Violet was a retired supervisor of Food Service of 27 years at Condell Medical Center.
She is survived by her children, Janet Kelley, Frances (Guy) Lund, Nicholas (Marge) Faber, Lucille Carter, Thomas (Barbara) Faber, Maria (Bo) Holimon, Anthony Faber; one sister, Rosemarie (Joseph) Schamerger; one brother, Alfred Tarquinio; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas; her parents; two sisters; a brother; and son-in-law and sister-in-law.
Funeral Mass will be 10 AM on Saturday, November 29 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd., Gurnee. Please meet at the church. Burial at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville. Visitation Friday, November 28 from 5-9 PM at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee, 305 cemetery Rd.

Marilyn L. Frank
Marilyn L. Frank, 77 years old, of Antioch, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at her home. She was born May 17, 1926 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Louis and Harriett (Peters) Pirson moving to Antioch in 1957. Marilyn worked for Pickard China Company in Antioch as a china detailer before her retirement. She was a member of the Antioch Chapter #735 Women of the Moose and was very active in the activities of the Lodge and she loved Home Shopping.
On March 1, 1951 she married
Kenneth Frank in Chicago and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1995.
Survivors include her sister, Charlotte (Raymond) Ostergren of Northbrook, IL; three nieces, Nicole (John) Simoni of Palatine, IL, Debbie (Jake) Berreth of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Brandie (Dennis) Smith of Gurnee, IL; three grand nieces and two grand nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Balek and Infant Donna.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 1, 2003 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83). Interment will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Antioch. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 until 5 PM Sunday where Women of the Moose Services will be held at 4:00 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Antioch Rescue Squad or Moose Haven, in her memory.
Marilyn K. Hankinson
Marilyn K. Hankinson, 57, of Zion died on Thursday, November 27, 2003 at her home following a long illness. She was born May 18, 1946 in Centralia, Illinois and has lived in Zion since 1976.
She received her B.A. Degree from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, and she was a member of Bonnie Brook Baptist Church of Beach Park. Marilyn also served as a foster mother with Central Baptist Children's Services and she owned and operated Grandma-Had-One antiques. She was also a member of Northern Lake County Quilters Guild (NLCQG), Illinois Quilters, Inc (IQI) and she was a founding Board Member of Missions Afield, an organization sponsoring missionaries abroad. She was also well known ad an AWANA cook and she was a past Girl Scout Leader.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, George; four children, Dennis Hankinson of Zion, Tonya (Matthew) Harris of Nettleton, Mississippi, Jenny Hankinson of Livingston, Montana and Daniel (Jennifer) Hankinson of Forest Park, Illinois; four grandchildren, Matthew Harris, Andi Hankinson and Luke and Timothy Harris; her mother, Emily Bernadean Cleveland of Fridley, Minnesota; and three brothers, Gorver (Sheryl) Cleveland of Fridley, Minnesota, Larry (Ruth Ann) Cleveland of Abilene, Texas and Gregory (Janet) Cleveland of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her father, Grover Henry Cleveland.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2003 at 5 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Pastor Scott Harrison of Bonnie Brook Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be on Monday, December 1, 2003 at 11 AM at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 PM until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial donations to Missions Afield (Fund of Paul Mbondi), or African Leadership (Fund of Paul Manyara) have been suggested.

Suzanne J. Marsala (nee Kirkbridge), 44, of McHenry passed away November 2, 2003.

Junior "Dean" Winter
Junior "Dean" Winter, 77, formerly of Waukegan passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2003 at his home in Fox Lake following a courageous battle with Cancer. He was born July 17, 1926 in Kennan, Wisconsin and lived in Waukegan for 38 years. He retired in 1992 from Public Works, City of Waukegan. In 1954, he married
Mary Lou MacFarland. Dean was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. He enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Lou; a son, Bruce William (fiancee, Razel Iglesia) of Lindenhurst, IL; a granddaughter, Tabitha Marie Winter of Grayslake, IL; two brothers, John (Mary Jean) Winter of Mondovi, WI and Jess (Shirley) Winter of Scranton, PA; three sisters-in-law, Ruth (Bill) Kosterman of Port Charles, FL and Lucille (Marvin) Bohlman and Connie Sharp both of Racine, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elmer and Elaine Winter; four sisters, Jane, Helen, Margaret and Mary Bell; a sister-in-law, Mildred Gregory; a brother-in-law, Maurice Sharp; and by his mother-in-law, Marie MacFarland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 9 AM at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park. Interment will be at Holy Cross cemetery in Racine, WI. Visitation will be Saturday, November 29, from 8 AM until time of service at Our Lady of Humility Church.

Bruce W. Chagoya, age 49, passed away on November 20, 2004 at his Waukegan home. He was born July 1, 1955 in Waukegan.
He was an auto mechanic.
He was the loving father of Joan and Felix Chagoya; step-father, of Bert and Gabriel Ramirez; beloved son of the late Joan and Felix Chagoya; dear brother of Claudia Chagoya and Yolanda Quebrado; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy A. Vanover (nee Bojniewicz)
Dorothy A. Vanover, age 64, of Waukegan, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at her home, following a battle with cancer. Dorothy was born August 18, 1940 in Waukegan. She was the owner and president of Travel Concepts in Waukegan. She was also a volunteer for LaCasa in Gurnee, a member of American Business Woman's Association, a graduate of Waukegan Citizens' Police Academy and a partner in the Women of Worth investment club.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence J. Vanover of Round Lake Beach and Gregory J. (Tricia) Vanover of Grayslake; two granddaughters, Lauren and Emily; two sisters, Rosalie (late Ken) Daywalt and Janice (Ed) Shultis; and many nieces and nephews including Karen (Ed) Garret, Kevin (Holly) Daywalt, Mark (Samatha) Shultis, Kim (Jeff) Clennan, Kris (Jeff) Franklin and David Shultis; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony J. and Rose B. (Stanislawski) Bojniewicz. Visitation will be Monday, November 29, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 30 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd., Gurnee. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.

Glenn R. Wisland
Glenn R. Wisland, 48, of Mundelein, IL, passed away suddenly Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at his home.
He was born April 13, 1956 in England, was a 1974 graduate of Libertyville High School and has lived in Mundelein for the past 20 years. Glenn was also a graduate of the College of Lake County and a former I.T. Professional and Computer Analyst for the Kemper Insurance Company in Long Grove.
Surviving are his mother, Ivy "Pat" Wisland of Vernon Hills; his sister, Susan Wisland of Plano, TX; three brothers, Terry, Randy and Dean Wisland, all of Vernon Hills.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delano Wisland in 1985.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 30 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Interment will be at Lakeside cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association in his memory.
Sylvia L. Cunningham
Sylvia L. Cunningham, 82, Cortland, New York formerly of Waukegan passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2002 at Northwood at Cortland assisted living. She was born April 4, 1920 in Medford, WI. Sylvia was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waukegan and former member of Eastern Star. She was retired from Pfanstiel after 14 years of service.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy L. (James) Platt of Syracuse, NY; son Edward (Linda) Sorenson of Beloit, WI; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a brother, Bill Dawson of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. Cunningham.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Friday, November 29, 2002 at First United Methodist Church, 128 Martin Luther King, Jr. Rd. (formerly Utica), Waukegan with Rev. Dr. Gehl Devore officiating.
