Kathryn Horan Haber
Kathryn Horan Haber, 50, of Libertyville, and formerly of Lake Forest, died November 25, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital. She was born September 29, 1953 in Lake Forest, Illinois. Kathryn was a Department Assistant at Lake Forest College from 1972 until her retirement in 1996.
Her parents, Thomas R. and Freda Horan both of Lake Forest preceded her in death.
She is the mother of Stacy of Libertyville and formerly of Lake Forest; sister of Joseph (Julie) Horan of Plano, TX and Sandra Shimanek of North Aurora; aunt of Diane Shimanek Egan, Thomas Shimanek, Bridget and David Horan; great aunt of Josh and Tanner Egan and Regan Shimanek; cousin to many around the country. Kenneth R. Iles
Kenneth R. Iles, 92, of Waukegan, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2003 at The Terrace Nursing Home, Waukegan.
He was born March 10, 1911 in Cleveland, OH, and lived in North Chicago and Waukegan all of his life.
Ken was a member of the United Methodist Church of Waukegan and The Waukegan Elks Club.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Veronica; a son, Roger Iles of Waukegan, and a daughter, Judy Galusha of Waukegan; four grandchildren, Gail Small, Ken Iles, Deborah Iles, and Nichol Wenstrom; nine great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Ramona Kay; a son-in-law, Keith Galusha; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Sue Iles.

Katharina Kurzenberger
Katharina Kurzenberger, 64, of Grayslake passed away Sunday, November 23, 2003 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. She was born in Munich, Germany on December 2, 1938, to the late Thaddaus and Katharina (nee Luidl) Geiger. Kathi grew up in Rottach-Egern, a quaint town in the Bavarian Alps, where she learned not only to play the Zither, but also the art of yodeling. For nearly 40 years, Kathi has lived in the United States, performing at countless festivals and gatherings. She was a member of the Austrian Mixed Chorus, the Chicago Zither Club and the Grayslake Exhangettes.
Kathi is survived by her children, Andreas Kurzenberger of Waukegan and Monika Kurzenberger of Alexandria, VA; her grandchildren, Andrianna and Zachary Kurzenberger of Grayslake; a brother, Thaddaus (Hildegard) Geiger of Lake Villa; a nephew, Erich Geiger of Grayslake; and a daughter-in-law, Zacho Kurzenberger of Grayslake.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudi Kurzenberger.
Friends of the family may join them for the visitation on Friday, November 28, 2003 from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL, 60030 at 10 AM. Elaine North-Grant
Elaine North-Grant was born on July 30, 1950 in Waukegan, IL. She was the second daughter of 13 children born to James and Willie Lee North. She passed peacefully into heaven on November 19, 2003.
Elaine graduated from North Chicago Community High School and had a career in Medical Administration.
In 1979, Elaine moved to San Diego with her daughter Kimberly and son Darcel. One year later she met and married
Mike Grant, and out of that union came her youngest daughter "Fiki." She resided in San Diego, CA, for 21 years and returned to the Lake County area in 2000.
Elaine leaves to cherish her free spirit memories: her three children, Kimberly, Darcel, and Rafiki (Terrion) Brown; her grandchildren, Kevin and Kendall Gross; her loving and supporting father, James North, of Murphyboro, IL; four sisters, Yvonne Smith of San Antonio, TX, Laurene "Dimpy" North of Murphyboro, IL; three brothers, Dennis and James Jr. Mary "May" Patterson of Detroit, MI and Brenda North of Murphyboro, IL; "Bro" North of North Chicago, IL, and Greg North of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, and her long time dear friend, Sharon Epps.
Her mother, Willie Lee North, sister Judy North-Coofer, and two brothers, Kevin and Larry North preceded her in death.
Services will be held at Christian Faith Fellowship Church, 1727 27th St., Zion, on Friday, November 28 with visitation at 10 am. Home going services at 11am. Interment at Mt. Olivet cemetery, Zion.
Walter C. Piskorz
Walter C. Piskorz, 81 years old, of Spring Grove, IL, formerly of Antioch, IL, passed away Friday, November 21, 2003 at the VA Medical Center, North Chicago, IL. He was born September 7, 1922 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Teofil and Stella (Sajdak) Piskorz.
He had lived in Antioch for several years and was a member of St. Peter Church. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 703 of Fox Lake, IL. Walter worked at Steward-Warner prior to the War and later was a part owner of the Fox Lake Concrete Products. He also worked in grounds maintenance with the Hawthorn Shopping Center in Vernon Hills retiring at age 63 because of ill health. He was a member of the service Employees International Union Local #1, AFL-CIO in Chicago.
Survivors include two sisters, Angeline Jones of Spring Grove, IL, and Jane Lackey of Perris, CA; ten nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Annette; a brother, Eugene; and two nieces, Cynthia and Janice.
Memorial Funeral Services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 29, 2003 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch, IL. Interment of his cremains will be at 1:30 PM at St. Adalbert cemetery, Niles, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc., P.O. Paul "P.P." J. Prather
Paul "P.P." J. Prather, 81 years old of Antioch, IL, went to be with the "Lord" on Sunday, November 23, 2003. He was born September 22, 1922 in Waukegan, IL, the son of the late Joseph and Olive (Vandegrift) Prather and has lived most of his life in the area. Paul served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, and the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He also served in the Naval Reserve. He enjoyed fishing, visiting with his friends and most of all his work as an electrician. He was a member of the IBEW Local #150 in Waukegan retiring after over 50 years of work.
Survivors include his wife, Joann; three daughters, Jane (Tom) Mahoney of Murphy, NC, Sallie (Ken) Koss of Antioch, IL, and Alice (Scott) Krucek of Bassett, WI; two sisters, Pauline (Tom) Needham and Rowena (Eugene) Ekman, both of Waukegan, IL; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, David, and two sisters, Anita and Juanita.
Memorial Funeral Services will be held at 5:30 PM Friday, November 28, 2003 at the Evangelical Free Church, 780 Highview Dr., Antioch, with Pastor David Groleau officiating. There will be a time of visitation following the services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.

William "Bill" Slay
William "Bill" Slay, 29, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Monday, November 24 at the Franciscans Kemp Health Care in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was born April 17, 1974 in Waukegan and was a 1992 graduate of Zion Benton Township High School.
Bill is survived by his son, Tyler Larson-Slay of Winthrop Harbor; his mother, Phyllis Slay, also of Winthrop Harbor; three sisters, Christine (Steve) Parker of Oswego, IL, Patricia (Ruben) Rivers and Pamela (Calixto) Medina, both of St. Cloud, Florida. Also surviving are his grandfather, Lyle (Marge) Springer of Beach Park; a nephew, Derek Parker; and nieces, Sarah Parker, Sonya Rivera, Amanda Wert, and Kelly Rivera.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Slay in December of 1997.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 28 at 2:00 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with the visitation from 12:00 PM until the time of services. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
Robert Maitlan "Bob" Williams
Mr. Robert Maitlan "Bob" Williams, age 65, of Grayslake, Illinois, departed this life Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at his home. Mr. Williams was born February 6, 1938 in Gordon County, Georgia, son of the late Robert Leonard Williams and Exie Elizabeth (Hales) Cagle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Ellis) Williams; sons, Robert Maitlan Williams Jr. and Robert Lee Williams; son-in-law, Jerry Fielden; brothers, Waymon Williams and Buck Williams; sisters, Sybil Teague, Sarah McGlamery and Bonnette Williams.
Bob was a quality control inspector for a medical supply company. He lived a very simple life and loved his children and grandchildren very much. His grandchildren always remember his PaPa Fees.

Junior "Dean" Winter
Junior "Dean" Winter, 77, formerly of Waukegan passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2003 at his home in Fox Lake following a courageous battle with Cancer. He was born July 17, 1926 in Kennan, Wisconsin and lived in Waukegan for 38 years. He retired in 1992 from Public Works, City of Waukegan. In 1954, he married
Mary Lou MacFarland. Dean was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. He enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Lou; a son, Bruce William (fiancee, Razel Iglesia) of Lindenhurst, IL; a granddaughter, Tabitha Marie Winter of Grayslake, IL; two brothers, John (Mary Jean) Winter of Mondovi, WI and Jess (Shirley) Winter of Scranton, PA; three sisters-in-law, Ruth (Bill) Kosterman of Port Charles, FL and Lucille (Marvin) Bohlman and Connie Sharp both of Racine, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elmer and Elaine Winter; four sisters, Jane, Helen, Margaret and Mary Bell; a sister-in-law, Mildred Gregory; a brother-in-law, Maurice Sharp; and by his mother-in-law, Marie MacFarland.

Eva Ash
Eva Ash, 87, formerly of North Chicago, died on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at Winchester House in Libertyville.
Eva was born September 14, 1917 in North Chicago and had lived in this area all of her life. She retired from Abbott Labs after 14 years there. She was also an avid country music fan and enjoyed dancing to all music.
Survivors include her two children Barbara (Jim Grant) Gamberale of Wadsworth and Linda (Tom) Thompson of Gurnee; two grandchildren Kim Gamberale and Tim (Maria) Thompson; two great-grandchildren Jimmy Pope and William Thompson; one sister Frances Zorzy of Gurnee; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Bernard "Barney" Ceskowski, by her second husband Robert Ash, one son-in-law Edward Gamberale, and her father and mother Henry and Sophia Kalinowski and brothers and sisters Sophie Remsgar, Mary Foltz, Walter Keller, Helen Gabala, Stanley Keller, John Kalinowski, Henry "Hinie" Kalinowski, Adam Keller and Anna Zorzy.
Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park, with Rev. Jan Krutewicz officiating. Raymond B. Bruhn
Raymond B. Bruhn, 92, of Trevor, WI passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at the Kenosha Hospital and Medical Center, Kenosha, WI. He was born June 11, 1912 in Evanston, IL, the son of the late Fredrick and Ella (Kaehler) Bruhn. He moved to Antioch, IL in 1953 and then to Trevor in 1971. Ray served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a T Sgt. serving in the China, Burma and India Theater. He was a former member of the Antioch Lions Club and a 50 year member of the Masons. Before his retirement, he worked as an auto salesman with Pittman Pontiac, which he helped establish, and Lyons and Ryan Ford in Antioch and Downtown Motors in the Chicago area. Ray loved wood working in his garage. On January 24, 1942, he married
Pauline "Polly" Lewis in Evanston, IL, and she preceded him in death on December 8, 1994.
Survivors include his son, Charles Bruhn of Northridge, CA; his daughter, Gay Ellen Bruhn Ed.D of Aurora, IL; two grandchildren, Charlene Dawn (Jeremy) Grant and Heather Lynne Bruhn; a great granddaughter, Celia; his sister-in-law, Pricilla Floring; and his dear friend, Bonnie Grabenhofer.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer; and two sisters, Esther and Jody.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME, 1055 Main St. (Rt. 83), Antioch, IL with visitation beginning at 1 PM. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch.
William A. Cascarano
William A. Cascarano, 81, a lifetime resident of Lake Forest died November 20, 2004. Born in Lake Forest, March 21, 1923, the son of the late Charles and Rose Mortensen Cascarano. Mr. Cascarano was the Golf Pro at the Deerpath Golf Course in Lake Forest from 1951 to 1970. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII, tank corps serving in Italy, Africa and Germany and was the recipient of the Purple Heart with Three Clusters.
Husband of Dorothy E. Cascarano; brother of Anthony Cascarano of Lake Forest, Celeste Pierman of Waukegan, Sena Placentino of Lake Forest and the late Charles Cascarano (1994); uncle of Kimberly Placentino, Susan Pierman, Patricia Larson, Jack Pierman and Richard, Craig and Thomas Cascarano.
Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest - Deerpath at Sheridan Road. Interment will be private. No visitation.
