Emanuel Hicks Jr.
North Chicago - Emanuel Hicks Jr., age 63, of North Chicago, passed away November 18, 2004, at his home. He was born March 30, 1941 in Waukegan to Emanuel Sr. and Addie (Thomas) Hicks. He married Etta Mason on November 22, 1985 in Waukegan. He was employed for 20 years at U.S. Steel as a supervisor and steelworker. He was also employed at R. Lavin & Son as a forklift driver for 20 years. Emanuel enjoyed fishing and baseball. He loved to ride motorcycles, and barbecue.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Etta; his children, Emanuel (Ellie) Hicks III of Zion, Sojna (Nelson) Hicks-Tate of Gurnee, Carla (David) Jacko of WI, and Antoine (LaTanya) Mason of N. Chicago; nine grandchildren, Tiffani, Meoshi, Nikki, DeLoucous, Guinnivere, Antoine Jr., Talesha, Aaron and Tierriah; brothers and sisters, Shirley Robinson, Yvonne (John) McKinney, Vanessa (Fred) Washington, Surthul Hicks, Greg Hicks, Darrol Hicks, Karen (Dale) Godbolt all of Waukegan, and Gloria Jennings of Detroit; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Mayfield, and both his parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 1529 Elizabeth, North Chicago. Interment will be at Warren cemetery. Marsh Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. For information, call (847)336-0127.

Eddie Lee "Snookie" Hill
Eddie Lee "Snookie" Hill, was born on March 17, 1925, to Mr. Simon and Mary Bell Hill in McDowell, Alabama. She was one of eight children. She married at an early age and eventually moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, later to Chicago, Illinois and in 1965 she moved to Waukegan, Illinois. She accepted Christ at an early age, served faithfully at St. Michaels Baptist Church in McDowell, Alabama and later joined Antioch Baptist Church in Waukegan, under the leadership of Reverend Michael Green.
On November 16th, 2004, at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Eddie Lee peacefully departed from her loved ones.
She is survived by three children, June Myers of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Jennie Johnson of Tusculoosa, Alabama, and Michael Lee Allen of Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Mcknight Jr. in 1993. She also leaves to mourn one brother, Simon (Georgia) Hill of Coatopa, Alabama, two sister-in-laws, Estella Hill of Coatopa, Alabama and Mary Lou Hill of Chicago, Illinois. Eight grandchildren, Jamiah, Christopher, Alan, Marcello, Brandon, Terrance, Melvin Jr. and Shawn, along with eleven nieces and nephews, a special niece, Gloria Rogers, a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends will mourn her death.
Eddie was preceded in death by her mother and father, four brothers, Jake, Jerome, Richard and Ross and two sisters, Jennie and Mary Ida.
Eddie "Snookie" worked many jobs in her life and retired from Baxter Laboratory in 1989. She loved traveling, playing cards, and had a love and green thumb for growing plants.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 2690 Argonne Drive, North Chicago, Illinois, Pastor Henry L. Woods Officiating. Visitation will held at the Church Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park cemetery, Zion, IL. Arrangements by Brandshaw & Range Funeral Home, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL, 847-662-3553.

Lois Keske (nee Leitch)
Lois Keske (nee Leitch), 87, of Zion went home to be with her Lord on Friday, November 19, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan.
Lois was born April 24, 1917 in Zion where she married Ernie Keske in 1939. She was an active member of Christ Community Church of Zion where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years, was a member of the Zion Passion Play and belonged to the Ladies of the Dorcas. She also served as a room mother at both Elmwood and East Schools, as a Cub Scout Den Mother and she belonged to the Zion PTA, the band parents of Zion, and more recently, the Zion Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include two sons, Ernest R. "Richard" (Marsha) Keske of Waukegan and Larry A. (Sharon) Keske of Beach Park; grandchildren, Scott (Pamela) Keske, Brett (Amy) Keske, Dawn (Gary) Grant, Beth (Jason) Klawonn, Michael (Tammy) Keske, Matthew (fiancee, Casey Kundert) Keske and Marc Keske; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Keske; two brothers, Leslie Leitch and Willis Leitch; and her parents, Allastair and Christina Leitch.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 24, 2004 from9 to 11 AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with funeral services to be held at 11 AM, Pastor Jon Wiziarde officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to Camp Zion Ministries of Christ Community Church have been suggested. 847-746-1234.

Warner J. Russell
Warner J. Russell, 70, of Zion died on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Lexington Health Care Nursing Home in Lake Zurich, IL. He was a former resident at Carmel House in Zion.
Warner was born March 13, 1934 in Escanaba, Michigan, and worked as a watch repairman in a jewelry store in Chicago.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephine (Dan) Latondress of Waukegan, IL; two sons, Warner C. (Catherine) Russell Sr. of Island Lake, IL and Dale Russell of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren, Warner C. Russell Jr., Christopher Russell, Alex Russell, Jason Latondress, Erika Latondress, Amy Russell and Jeremy Russell; a brother, David (Terri) Russell of Fort Pierce, Florida; and two sisters, Mary Ann Osborne of Zion, IL and Linda Klopstein of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his father, Warner E. Russell in 1976 and mother, Ann Whelan in 2004.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 7:30 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion with Father David Mulvihill of Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church of Beach Park officiating. Interment is private for the family. Visitation will be from 5 PM until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Zion Professional Firefighters Association, 2828 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, 60099.

Phyllis M. Sibley
Phyllis M. Sibley, 85, of Libertyville, IL passed away suddenly Sunday, November 21, 2004 at the Condell Medical Center. She was born December 25, 1918 in Highland Park, IL, was formerly of Vernon Township and a Lake County resident all her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish and the Guild of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Libertyville and also enjoyed the Vernon Hills Seniors. Phyllis and her family were the former owners of Chief's Antiques in Half Day and she would later own Phyllis Sibley Antiques on South Milwaukee Ave between Vernon Hills and Half Day for many years.
Surviving are her daughter, Diana (George) Capaul of Grayslake; four grandchildren, Dean (Judy) Kick of Oak Creek, WI, Cindy (Dan) Harris of Libertyville, John (Camille) Capaul of Highland Park and Dr. Suzanne (Dr. Michael) Hites of Las Cruces, NM; seven great grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Jacob, Melissa, Victor, Nathan and Samantha; and a brother, Andrew "Duke" (Ruth) Erickson of Wilmington, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Erickson; by her husband, Calvin Sibley in 1985; by her daughter, Carol Kick in 2004; by a great granddaughter, Cassandra; and brothers, Patrick and Jack.
Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave (Rt. 176), Libertyville and services will continue to St. Joseph Church for Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary's cemetery in Highland Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, 121 E. Maple, Libertyville, IL, 60048 in her memory.

Robert L. Sutherland
Robert L. Sutherland, 74, of Evanston, IL passed away Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Evanston Hospital.
He was born May 3, 1930 in Paisley, Scotland and had lived in Waukegan, IL for 37 years prior to his move to Evanston in 1999. He was a retired medical technologist who had worked for 35 years at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. At the time of his retirement in 1994 he was Technical Director of the Clinical Laboratory,
He is survived by his daughter, Mary-Morag Sutherland of Evanston, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nan T. Sutherland; his parents, Robert and Mary Sutherland; his brother, Ian (John) and his sisters, Marie Friday and Nan Bosner, all of Waukegan.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 26, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. A visitation for friends and relatives will be held on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. There will be a private cremation. For information call 847-746-1234.

Henry Tewes, Jr.
Henry Tewes, Jr., 74, of Gurnee passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 21, 2004. He was born in Waukegan on March 4, 1931 to Henry and Gladys (nee Olson) Tewes, Sr. He remained a lifelong area resident. From an early age he worked alongside his father in the family business, Tewes Co.
After graduation from Waukegan Township High School in 1948, he attended North West Missouri State University. He later served in the SeaBees. He owned and operated Tewes Co. for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of Glen Flora Country Club and the Waukegan Yacht Club. He served as an employer trustee of the pension, health and welfare fund of Teamsters Local 301 and on the board of directors at the Bank of Waukegan.
Henry is survived by his long time companion, Bette Peshut and several cousins and also the Ed Tewes family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Gladys Tewes.
Friends may call at PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry's name may be made to the Gurnee Fire Department Paramedics.

Mary Zaugra, 86
Mary Barbara Zaugra, faithful believer in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the angels and saints passed into eternal life on Thursday, November 18, 2004 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She has joined her dearly beloved husband Albert and dearly beloved son Michael; parents, Anthony and Victoria (nee Urbanic) Nicpan; and mother, Pauline Nicpan.
Mary, our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother will be deeply missed by her son Frederick (Kay) Zaugra and daughter Katherine (David) McKeown, Mary's daughter-in-law, Cindy Zaugra, was special to her heart. Mary loved her grandchildren with a passion. They include Brian Zaugra, Amy (Kenny) Osorio, Melissa (Luis) Lopez, Timothy (Jamie) Zaugra, Eileen and Kate McKeown. Mary treasured her great grandchildren; Elliana and Jayden Lopez and Natalia Osorio. Mary had an everlasting love and bond with her sisters; Mary Verenski, Bernice Bakshis, Ann Chadwick and Jean Kula. She will be loved and missed by her family and friends forever.

Ian Van Bolton
Ian Van Bolton, 17, of Zion died suddenly on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at his home.
He was born August 17, 1985 in Waukegan, had lived in this area all of his life and was currently a Junior at Zion-Benton Township High School. Ian was an avid BMX bicycle rider and had participated in various competitions.
Survivors include his parents, Dale and Karen Bolton of Zion; two brothers and one sister, Chris Slazes of Waukegan and Nicole and Brandon Bolton both of Zion; one niece, Mackenzie Slazes of Waukegan; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Gordon of Waukegan; paternal grandparents, June and Wilbert Bolton of Red Bay, Alabama; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Gordon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Rev. Tim Knight of Community Christian Church of Waukegan officiating. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Vincent F. Casella
Vincent F. Casella, 55 years old of Wadsworth, IL passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at his home. He was born Feb. 15, 1947 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Joseph C. and Evelyn (Sorwell) Casella. Vince lived in Antioch, IL most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam and was an auto salesman. He had worked for Pittman Motors and Lyons and Ryan Ford and presently for Raymond Chevrolet, all in Antioch.
Survivors are 2 sons, Jacob and Casey of White Hall, WI, 1 daughter, Candice, of Oseo, WI, and 1 sister, Barbara (Robert) Oilschlager of Grayslake, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83). Interment will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 PM Friday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
