Eddie Lee "Snookie" Hill
Eddie Lee "Snookie" Hill, was born on March 17, 1925, to Mr. Simon and Mary Bell Hill in McDowell, Alabama. She was one of eight children. She married at an early age and eventually moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, later to Chicago, Illinois and in 1965 she moved to Waukegan, Illinois. She accepted Christ at an early age, served faithfully at St. Michaels Baptist Church in McDowell, Alabama and later joined Antioch Baptist Church in Waukegan, under the leadership of Reverend Michael Green.
On November 16th, 2004, at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Eddie Lee peacefully departed from her loved ones.
She is survived by three children, June Myers of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Jennie Johnson of Tusculoosa, Alabama, and Michael Lee Allen of Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Mcknight Jr. in 1993. She also leaves to mourn one brother, Simon (Georgia) Hill of Coatopa, Alabama, two sister-in-laws, Estella Hill of Coatopa, Alabama and Mary Lou Hill of Chicago, Illinois. Eight grandchildren, Jamiah, Christopher, Alan, Marcello, Brandon, Terrance, Melvin Jr. and Shawn, along with eleven nieces and nephews, a special niece, Gloria Rogers, a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends will mourn her death.
Eddie was preceded in death by her mother and father, four brothers, Jake, Jerome, Richard and Ross and two sisters, Jennie and Mary Ida.
Eddie "Snookie" worked many jobs in her life and retired from Baxter Laboratory in 1989. She loved traveling, playing cards, and had a love and green thumb for growing plants.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 2690 Argonne Drive, North Chicago, Illinois, Pastor Henry L. Woods Officiating. Visitation will held at the Church Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park cemetery, Zion, IL. Arrangements by Brandshaw & Range Funeral Home, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL, 847-662-3553.

James Lee Kelley Jr.
James Lee Kelley Jr., a resident of Woodstock and formerly of Round Lake, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the age of 38. He was born June 20, 1966 in Elgin, IL.
James is survived by his mother, Betty Terry; his son, James Lee Kelley III; his siblings, Vincent (Linda) Generosa, Liz Generosa-Goad, and Thomas (Sue) Terry Jr.; his half-brothers and half-sister, Patricia (James) Schwartz, Michael (Lorresa) Kelley, and Larry Kelley; his special friend, Gina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Kelley Sr.; his brother, Robert Kelley; his step-father, Thomas Terry Sr.; and his half sister, Dorothy Mittlestedt.
A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, November 21, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be held privately. Friends of the family may visit on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family. Lois Keske (nee Leitch)
Lois Keske (nee Leitch), 87, of Zion died on Friday, November 19, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced later by the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.

Angela McClure
Angela McClure, 31, a former resident of Zion, IL, was suddenly taken from this world to be with the Lord on November 1, 2004 in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Angela was born August 8, 1973 in Norfolk, Virginia and was a graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School in 1991 and a member of Wesley Church in Waukegan.
Survivors include her father and mother, Tom and Mary McClure of Zion; three sisters, April (Michael) Beatty of Round Lake, IL, Beverly McClure of Salamanca, New York, and Kimberly McClure, currently stationed in New Jersey, serving with the United States Air Force; and a brother, George McClure of Zion. Also surviving are her maternal grandmother, Elora Persons of Salamanca, New York; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by both paternal grandparents, and by her maternal grandfather.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Missionary Church, 1415 27th St, Zion, with Pastor Douglas Carlson officiating. Interment will be private for the family. Memorial donations to the Shalom Center, 1713 62nd St, Kenosha, WI 53143-4469 have been suggested. CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, Zion, is serving the family.

Phyllis C. Neargarder
Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis C. Neargarder, 79, of Round Lake Beach, IL., will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at St. Gilbert's Church in Grayslake. Interment will be private in Abingdon, IL. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Neargarder was born March 10, 1925 in Grayslake, IL., and passed away early Thursday morning, November 18, 2004 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Round Lake Beach, IL.
She married Thomas E. Neargarder in 1947 and had been employed as Supervisor of Dieticians at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan for 13 years.
She was a member of St. Gilbert's Church and a member of the Ladies Catholic Church Benevolent Association.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas; two sons, Donald Neargarder of Round Lake, IL., and Richard (Michelle) Neargarder of Lewisberg, KS; and one daughter, Kathy (Allen) Mathiesen of Waukegan, IL; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Antoinette Reimers of Round Lake, IL., and Frances Riley of Waukegan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Minnie Monian in 2001; four brothers; as well as her parents.
The family requests that donations please be made to Catholic Charities in Phyllis' name.

Debora J. O'Brien
Debora J. O'Brien, 50 years old, of Antioch, IL, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago, IL. She was born April 23, 1954 in Waukegan, where she lived until moving to Antioch in 1984. Debora was employed by WAL-MART for 15 years, working in the Round Lake Beach store for the past 10 years.
She was an avid reader, and she collected and sold books on the internet and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas.
Survivors include her fiance, Rick Steiskal of Antioch; children, Crystal (Michael) Barnett of Fox Lake, Robert Schaefer of Antioch, IL and Amanda, James and Barbara Steiskal, all of Antioch; three grandchildren, Ariana, Alayna and Michael; one brother, Howard Corrigan; and one sister, Katherine Iverson, both of Waukegan.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly.
A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 PM Sunday, November 21, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 38), Antioch. Services and interment will be private.

Howard E. Rowe
Howard E. Rowe, age 79, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. A lifelong resident of the Waukegan and Lake Villa area, he was born November 22, 1924 in Bancroft, NE.
He married Irene (Steinbach) in 1947, celebrating almost 57 years of marriage. He was a World War II Veteran, having served on term in the U.S. Army Air Corps, followed almost immediately by a second one-year term in the U.S. Army.
He leaves his loving family to cherish his memory. He leaves his two sons, Ted and Tim (Terri) Rowe; and one daughter, Sharon Rowe. His beloved grandchildren, George (Karen) Kontaxis, Harold (Jessica) Kontaxis, Tony (Andrea) Rowe, Robin, Michelle, Megan, Jenna, Lindsey and Amber Rowe.
His son, Gary Rowe; two brothers, Harold and Robert; and his three sisters, Bernice, Leona and Rosella preceded Howard in death.
Funeral services for Howard will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2004 at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, RICHARD S. ZAEHRINGER, Director, 1475 N. cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL 60031 (located inside the main entrance to Warren cemetery at the intersection of Tri-State Pky. and cemetery Rd.) Friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2004. The interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Highland Memorial Park cemetery, Libertyville, IL (Hunt club Rd. and Rte. 120 Belvidere Rd.)

Robert C. Smith of Grayslake
A memorial service for Robert C. Smith will be held at 11 AM on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at Symonds Lakes Funeral Home, 111 W. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL. 847-543-1080. Interment will be private.
Born August 21, 1918 in Mundelein, he died Monday, November 1st, in Denver, CO.
Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He was a graduate of Northwestern University and worked over 44 years for Johns-Manville Corp. in Waukegan. He was a past member of the Grayslake Grade School Board of Education, the Grayslake Zoning Commission, past President of the Lake County Safety Commission and a long time member of the Grayslake American Legion. After his retirement, he was a substitute teacher at the Lake County Area High Schools Tech Campus for a year. He was an avid golfer, belonging to Renwood CC for over 55 years. He also earned Master's points as a tournament bridge player.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (nee Shanks). In addition, he is survived by his children: Craig (Lucy) of Lake Zurich, Cherie Paddock of Dayton, OH, Nancy (Nick) Yukl of Fox Lake, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made in his name to the United Protestant Church of Grayslake P.A.D.S. program. 54 S. Whitney St. Grayslake, IL 60030.

Mary Zaugra, 86
Mary Barbara Zaugra, faithful believer in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the angels and saints passed into eternal life on Thursday, November 18, 2004 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She has joined her dearly beloved husband Albert and dearly beloved son Michael.
Mary, our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother will be deeply missed by her son Frederick (Kay) Zaugra and daughter Katherine (David) McKeown, Mary's daughter-in-law, Cindy Zaugra, was special to her heart. Mary loved her grandchildren with a passion. They include Brian Zaugra, Amy (Kenny) Osorio, Melissa (Luis) Lopez, Timothy (Jamie) Zaugra, Eileen and Kate McKeown. Mary treasured her great grandchildren; Elliana and Jayden Lopez and Natalia Osorio. Mary had an everlasting love and bond with her sisters; Mary Verenski, Bernice Bakshis, Ann Chadwick and Jean Kula. She will be loved and missed by her family and friends forever.
Funeral Mass and Celebration of Mary's Life will be 10AM Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas St, Waukegan, IL. Burial will be at Ascension in Libertyville. Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Monday, November 22, 2004 and also 8:30 to 9:30 AM Tuesday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd. 847-336-0127.

Doris Ellen Blank
Doris Ellen Blank, 84, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2004 in Libertyville.
Wife of the late Elmer. Mother of Dorothy J. Elzy of WI, Carol Blank of Waukegan, Richard E. (Joanna) Blank of Libertyville, Ruth E. (D.V.M., Ph.D.) Blank and the late Judith A. Blank, who passed away in July of 1991. Grandmother of five and great-grandmother of three.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd, Highland Park, IL and Monday, November 22, 2004 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Deerfield Rd, Deerfield, IL. Interment private.

Stuart B. Ashenfelter
Stuart B. Ashenfelter, 47, of Waukegan passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at home.
He was born September 30, 1955 in Springfield, IL.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 150, was a Heavy Equipment Operator by trade and loved snowmobiling and stock cars.
He is survived by his loving companion, Mary Bradbury of Waukegan; his parents, Richard and Shirley Ashenfelter of Glenview, IL; and a brother, Scott (Eva) Ashenfelter of Libertyville.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 PM Saturday, November 2, 2002 in the MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be Saturday only at the funeral home.
