Robert B. Wheelwright
Robert B. Wheelwright, 68, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Zion.
Bob was born February 11, 1933 in Springfield, Illinois, and was a graduate of Springfield High School and Milliken University in Decatur, Illinois. During Bob's computer and data processing career he worked for General Electric, Illinois Power Co. in Decatur, Illinois, and both the Department of Public Aid and the Interstate Commerce Commission in Springfield and Datapoint Corporation in San Antonio, Texas. Bob also served as an Instructor at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. He was very honored when he was awarded the 1999 Citizen of the Year by the Village of Winthrop Harbor for his service to the Village. He was President of the Winthrop Harbor Chamber of Commerce, serving two non-consecutive terms. He also spearheaded the establishment of the Winthrop Harbor Veterans Memorial near the Schlader Building and worked with many others to beautify and improve our train station and the park around it. Bob loved Winthrop Harbor and its people. He was also a member of the Winthrop Harbor Lions Club, the American Legion, was a life member of V.F.W. and he served his country with the Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Johnson (nee Knight) Wheelwright; three daughters, Lisa (Tony) Gascoigne of Springfield, Lori (Michael) Roate of Pawnee, Illinois, and Carol (Rodger) Robbins of St. Louis, Missouri; two granddaughters, Tiffany Schmidt and Jane Gascoigne; three grandsons, Michael Gascoigne, Lucas Roate, and Adam Robbins; one cousin, Dena Dee (Trent) Cooper of Roanoke, Indiana; and dear friends, George and Gem Foster, Dale and Judy Colson, Marc and Mary Royce, Jule Johnson, and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur K. Wheelwright; his mother, Dorothy J. (nee Cornwell) Wheelwright Shand; his stepfather, Richings J. Shand; and grandparents, Arthur and Lula (nee Killison) Wheelwright and John M. and Ella (nee Burk) Cornwell.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 1, 2001 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Interment and graveside services will be Monday, December 3, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge cemetery, Springfield, Illinois. Walter J. White
Walter J. White, 85, of Waukegan, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. He was born June 25, 1916 in North Chicago. Walter was a member of the Moose Lodge #706. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He helped serve the community during Thanksgiving and Christmas for several years by serving the needy at the Town Club. Politically he served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman. Walter retired as an accountant from US Steel and was the former owner and operator for 25 years of Town Club in Waukegan.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Genevieve White (nee Busse); four children, Judith (Carl) Foote, David Alan White, Phillip (Diane) White and Christopher White; six grandchildren, Gina, Jennifer, Autumn, Christine, Christopher Jr. and Trevor; and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Michael. He is preceded in death by his parents Anna and Joseph White; two sisters, Alice and Lenore White; a brother, Joseph White; and a daughter, Jean Marie White.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 PM on Friday, November 30, 2001 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St. in Waukegan, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart Foundation.
Stella Wiess
Stella Wiess, 84, of Waukegan, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2001 in Crystal Lake. She was born in North Chicago on March 18, 1917. She was a member of both St. Bartholomew (Holy Family West) and St. Dismas Church and was very active in all aspects of both churches. She was also a member of the St. Dismas Womens Club, St. Bartholomew Womans Club, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Lake County Council for Seniors and Senior Spirit Volunteer. Stella was a nurses assistant at Provena St. Therese. Mon loved the clouds and mountains and listening to the birds. She wanted everyone to be thankful.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann (Ken) Mitzel of Yakimo, WA, Ruth (Tom) Rishling of Wonder Lake, IL, Anita Englehart of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Cindy Miller, Colleen Bailey, Todd Rishling, Jayson Rishling, Amy Rishling, Jackie Diehn, Jeremie Diehn, Brian Englehart and Christina Keough; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Herman Jonaitis of Gurnee; a sister, Joan Phariss of Santa Cruz, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Stefanie and father, Adam Jonaitis and sister Lucille Olmstead and brothers Raymond and Edmond Jonaitis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, November 30, 2001 at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan with Father Ryan officiating. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 9:00 PM Thursday, November 29, 2001 and Friday, 8:30 until 9:30 AM at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 305 cemetery Rd. in Gurnee.
Edwin F. Adams
Edwin F. Adams, 65, of Waukegan, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at his home. He was born April 12, 1937 in Eldron, Wisconsin and has been a longtime area resident.
Edwin was a member of St. Dismas Parish in Waukegan and was an avid fisherman. He was a Scout and Cub master for many years and enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren. He retired from Sears after 35 years of service.
Edwin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patricia (nee Terwilliger) Adams; children, Wendy (Russ) Burnett of Waukegan, Steven (Helen) Adams of Zion, Jeffery Adams of Vernon Hills, Michael (Debbie) Adams of Waukegan and Mary (Dave) Schroeder of Kenosha; grandchildren, Kyle, Zachary, Katie, Lynn and Rebecca Ann. He is also survived by his brother, Bob (Phyllis) Adams of Kentucky; aunt, Pat Schmidt of Park City and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Irene (nee Buffum) Adams.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00AM, Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Avenue, Waukegan, with Fr. John Ryan officiating. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Friends may call at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan from 6:00PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday.

Craig Richard Allexon
Craig Richard Allexon, 50, of Waukegan died on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Zion.
Craig was born July 6, 1952 in Waukegan and was a life long resident of Lake County. He attended College of Lake County for two years where he received his Associates Degree and was employed for 29 years at Abbott's, lately as a R and D Technician. Craig also enjoyed fishing and music as hobbies and in his earlier years had been the drummer for various local bands.
Survivors include his son, Nicholas Richard Allexon of Barrington, IL; a brother, Robert Arthur (Deborah) Allexon of Killingworth, CT; and two nephews, Kevin Michael Allexon of Washington, D.C. and Jeremy William Allexon of Killingworth, CT. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert Alexander and Grace Eleanor (nee Guderyahn) Allexon.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2002, 3 PM at Lakeland Evangelical Free Church, 440 Hunt Club Road, Gurnee with Pastor Dan Weyerhauser officiating, followed by a reception at the church for family and friends. Memorial donations to Assistance in Healthcare Foundation, 2520 Elisha Avenue, Zion, IL, 60099 have been suggested. CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, Zion, is serving the family.
Margaret Austin
Margaret Austin, age 88, of Beach Park passed away at Zion Rehab. Center Home on November 18, 2002. She was born February 20, 1914 in Waukegan.
She was a member of the First Presbyterians Church in Waukegan, she belonged to the Eagles, the Women of the Moose #706 in Waukegan, the V.F.W. Aux. #7448 in Winthrop Harbor.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Kenneth) Tatro of Beach Park, 6 grandchildren Brenda (Glen) Merry of Gurnee, Linda of Zion, Donna of Beach Park, Mike (Shannon) of Zion, Pam (Jose) Flores of Waukegan, Kevin of Beach Park, nine great grandchildren with another on the way. Sister in law Elieen (Roland) Lundgren of Las Vegas, NV, one stepdaughter Florence Coady of Prescott, AZ, a stepdaughter in law Barbara (Lee) Austin of Zion, several step grandchildren & several great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Herman & Elene Lundgren, brother Roland Lundgren, husband Hollis S. Austin, son in law Kenneth Tatro, grandson Scott Tatro, & stepson Lee Austin.

Kenneth L. Browning
Kenneth L. Browning, age 42, of Lake Villa, IL, passed away November 15, 2002 at the Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. He was born July 2, 1960 in Joliet, IL and has been a resident of Lake Villa for the past three years and formerly of Wildwood.
Ken was a Grayslake postal carrier for the past seven years and a former employee of St. Therese Medical Center of Waukegan.
Ken is survived by his wife, Kim L. (nee Hardy) Browning of Lake Villa, IL; Eric Browning of Lake Villa, IL; Sonia Wienke of Gurnee, IL; James, Eric, Michelle and Melanie Friddle of Gurnee, IL; Amber Friddle of Lake Villa, IL; father, Gary D. (Hattie) Browning of Winchester, IN; brothers and sister, Barry Browning of New Lenox, IL, Terry (Donald) Prieboy of Joliet, IL and William Browning of Indianapolis, IN.

Foster Green
Foster Green, age 87, of North Chicago, IL passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2002 at the Froedtert Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. He was born September 15, 1915 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, North Chicago, IL where he served on the usher board for many years. He was retired from the North Chicago Hardware Foundry. Foster was an avid piano musician along the North Shore for many years.
He is survived by a son, Foster "Wesley" Green of Waukegan; three grandchildren, Foster Wesley Green, Jr., Elizabeth Ethelyn Green and Christine Richards; a former daughter in law, Patricia R. Green; a former wife, Emmaline Thomas of Decatur, GA; two sisters in law, Edna Schroeder of Webster, WI and Alyet Sisson of North Chicago; several nephews including Ronald Belfrom, several nieces including Tryphenia Gregory of Memphis, TN; also cousins and dear friends including Emma "Chicken" Gordon, Wylodean Mitchell and James Bingham.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ollie Green, his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Kenneth R. Griess
Kenneth R. Griess, 67, of Lake Villa Township, passed away Monday, November 18, 2002 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Born January 2, 1935 in Chicago. The son of the late Richard C. Griess and Evelyn D. Hartung. A resident of Lake Villa the past 5 years and formerly of Grayslake for over 40 years. Retiring in 1990 from Sears Company with over 40 years of service. A member of the Wildwood Presbyterian Church for over 40 years and a volunteer at P.A.D.S.
He leaves his brother Raymond (Joan) Griess of Lake Villa; several nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins to cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his brother Richard H. Griess.

Alex C. Koch
Alex C. Koch, 86, of Waukegan, Illinois died Sunday, November 17, 2002 at St. Therese Hospital.
He was born March 1, 1916 in Grayling, Michigan, and had lived in the Waukegan and Gurnee area the last 54 years. He was owner and operator of the Kettle Snack Bar at Big Gurnee Discount. Waukegan Elks Lodge #702 and the Swedish Glee Club. Alex was an Army veteran of WW II.
He is survived by his wife, Laverne (nee Holmes), and two sons: Mark Koch of Gurnee and Alex (Janice) Koch of Wintrop Harbor; also one granddaughter, Tara; two brothers: Robert (Traudel) Kochanowski of Yuma, AZ and Roy (Darlene) Kochanowski of Madison, WI; and a sister, Joyce (Louis) Lentz of Kalevea, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hazel Kochanowski.

Virginia V. Latz
Virginia V. Latz, age 73, was born February 4, 1929 in North Chicago, IL and passed away at home in Mundelein, IL on November 15, 2002.
She was a 1947 graduate of Waukegan High School and was employed at the National Envelope Company and Johnson Motors in Waukegan.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford J. Latz of Mundelein, IL; four children, Dr. Mark and Jolene Latz of Corvallis, OR; Trinice and Jeffery Steaffens of Lafayette, CO; Kyle and Martha Latz of Round Lake Beach, IL and Taryn and Robert Peddle of Wauconda, IL; grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Steaffens, Janine and Colleen Peddle, Zachary Latz and Cooper Latz; she is also survived by her brother, Stanley Prorok of Waukegan, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine Prorok, and her sisters, Charlotte Carlson and Frances Jare.
