June Mary Louise Nickerson
June Mary Louise Nickerson, 73, of Waukegan, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. She was born November 11, 1929 in Florida and has been a longtime resident.
June was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Grayslake and was an avid bowler for many years. She was retired from Northshore Gas Company after 32 years of service.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Shirlee) Nickerson of Winthrop Harbor; grandchildren, Gregory and Christina Nickerson, both of Winthrop Harbor; sister, Patsy White of Waukegan and brother, Denny (Ruth Ann) Wendricks, of Waukegan. Beth is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis A. and Florence P. (nee Billington) Wendricks and two brothers, Louis Wendricks, Jr. and Gerald "Jerry" Wendricks.
Funeral Services will be 7:00PM on Thursday, November 21, 2002 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 31 Park Ave., Grayslake with Rev. Richard A. Crist officiating. Friends may call at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2002.

Kathleen Marie Pedersen
On May 3, 1983, Kathleen Marie Pedersen, an original creation, came into this world. After a courageous and extended battle with cancer, Kate passed away on November 17, 2002.
Kate lived an enthusiastic life, centered around love of family and friends, and alive with her passionate beliefs. Although far too brief, Kate's life was full and inspiring to all who knew her. Born in Charlottsville, Virginia, Kate was a vibrant child who enjoyed entertaining friends and family with her unique ability to bring smiles and laughter. Active in school organizations, an exceptional student, and member of the varsity tennis team, Kate graduated from Warren Township High School in 2001. Kate spent summers at her family cottage in Phelps, Wisconsin where she enjoyed countless memories on the lake. She found companionship and encouragement in her work at Grayslake Animal Hospital and their sponsorship of "Kate's Team" in the annual Relay for Life. During the difficult time of her illness, she was surrounded by the enduring support of many loyal friends, notably Betsy Barnich, and her beloved pets. Kate taught us all about strength of character, courage and hope.
Left to celebrate Kate's life are her parents, Denise and Cap; her sister, Mandy; her brothers, Andrew, Mike, and Todd (Tracy); her great-grandmother, Jennie Cerfogli, and grandparents, Bruno and Dena Coppi; nieces Jordan and Elizabeth; nephew Matthew; and her many supportive aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
Preceding her in death were her loving grandparents, Elizabeth and Arnold Pedersen.
Visitation will be held from 4 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2002 at the GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. Private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Illinois, 640 North LaSalle Street, Suite 280, Chicago, IL 60610; or to the American Cancer Society, 777 Central Avenue, Highland Park, IL 60035.

Beth E. Reckels
Beth E. Reckels, 77, of Gurnee, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2002 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. She was born December 7, 1924 in Yates City, Illinois.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Wallen of Gurnee and special friends, Lil Knox and Jack Benson.
Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Reckels and parents, Ambrose and Irene (nee Clesson) King.
Funeral Services will be private. Interment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Beth's name may be made to Vista Star Hospice, 2615 Washington St., Waukegan, Illinois 60085.
Arrangements are under the care of Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan.

Mary E. (Overton-Gayden) Bankston
Mary E. (Overton-Gayden) Bankston was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the union of Verlee and Melvin Overton on March 19, 1962. She departed this life on November 15, 2003.
Mary was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B.J. Gaston.
Mary E. Overton-Gayden Bankston was preceded in death by her mother, Verlee Overton; her adopted mother, Irene Gayden; sisters, Sandra Nichlos and Rayena (Ray) Moss.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted husband, Vincent Bankston of Zion, IL. She was the loving mother of three sons, Vincent Bankston Jr., Shaun M. Bankston and Devin J. Bankston, all of Zion, IL; her father, Melvin E. Overton, Sr., of Norfolk, VA; adopted father, Sylvester "Blue" Gayden of Muscle Shore, AL; her step-mother, Estelle N. Overton, Norfolk, VA; four brothers, John Willis Gayden of Oakland, CA, Melvin Overton Jr., of Zion, IL., Mark Overton of North Chicago, IL. and Paul Overton of Chesapeake, VA; four sisters, Karen Evans of Suffolk, VA, Jacqueline Gayden of Round Lake, IL, Joanna Moss of Norfolk VA. and Juanita Overton of Norfolk, VA; and a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be on Thursday November 20, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2500 W. 30th St., Zion, IL. with Pastor B.J. Gaston officiating. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.

Ann Rita Hoffman (nee Murphy)
Ann Rita Hoffman (nee Murphy). Born December 20, 1918 in River Forest. died November 15, 2003 at St. Benedict's Nursing Home, Niles, IL. Former resident of Mundelein area for 50 years. Faithful wife of 58 years to the late Martin, who died in 2000. Cherished mother of Martin, Megan (William) Brier, Thomas (Roseann), Richard (Sandi), James (Libby), Mary Grace (Stan) Rasocha, Raymond (Jemae) and Rev. Francis J. Hoffman. Adoring grandmother of 16. Fond aunt of many nephews and nieces.
Visitation at McMURROUGH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, IL on Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. with Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass in the old church at St. Mary of the Annunciation in Fremont Center on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Mary cemetery, Fremont Center.
Donations in her memory will be gratefully accepted by Sherlake Center, 210 South Avenue, Glencoe, IL 60022 to further the apostolic work of Opus Dei among women.

Eugene M. McDeVitt
Eugene M. McDeVitt, age 84, a longtime resident of Fox Lake, IL, died Monday, November 17, 2003 at the Westmorland Nursing Facility in Lake Forest, IL.
He was born on October 13, 1919 to Joseph and Margaret (nee Weldon) McDeVitt and had been a Veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army/Air Force as a flight instructor. He had been a longtime employee with IL Bell Telephone Co. in Chicago, IL, and was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church in Ingleside, IL. He had enjoyed electrical work of any kind, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his pets. He will be greatly missed by His Loving Children: Sherry (LeRoy Sheetz) Lewis of Genoa City, WI, Steve (Judy) Welter of McHenry, IL, John Welter of Lake Villa, IL, Kevin "Casey" (Jackie) Walter of Antioch, IL, Elisabeth (Mick) Henderson of Leesberg, GA, Patrick (Michelle) Welter of Antioch, IL, Daniel (Donna) Welter of Fox Lake, IL, Susan (Daniel) Machnik of Lake Villa, IL, Katie (Glen) Lazansky of Ingleside, IL; 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; Dear Brothers, Richard "Dick" (Josephine) McDeVitt of Fox Lake, IL, Matthew (Charlayne) McDeVitt, and Gerald (the late Josephine) McDeVitt, both of FL; Dear Sisters, Frances Ziegenhorn of Des Plaines, IL, and Jane Lucas of FL; and many fond nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean C. Welter-McDeVitt on October 15, 2003; and by a son, James Welter.
Visitations will be on Friday, November 21, 2003 at 9:00 AM at St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside, IL. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM and burial will follow at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside, IL.

Michelle Marie McWashington
Michelle Marie McWashington was born November 22, 1963 in Evanston, Illinois, to Helen Willamson and John Weathersby, she was the elder of three daughters.
She left this earthly life and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 12, 2003.
Michelle grew up in the Lake County area where she attended elementary school and graduated from Zion Benton Township High School.
Before graduating from high school, Michelle became employed with Commonwealth Edison Nuclear Generating Station, where she remained a dedicated employee for 15+ years. During her career at Com Ed, she developed a close bond and friendship with a host of coworkers, eight years ago Michelle left the Zion area when she accepted a position with Forte, Inc. and relocated to Hayward, California.
One year later, she accepted another position with Sun Micro Systems Inc. and moved to Oakland, California.
Michelle left to cherish her memories, her loving mother, Helen Williamson, two sisters, Kristin Spivey of Gurnee, Illinois, and Candice Nicole of Los Angeles, California, three nephews, Anthony and Jordan Davis of Gurnee, Illinois and Armande Bate of Los Angeles, California. Two uncles, William (Betty) Williamson of Carpentersville, Illinois, John (Vanoria) Williamson, of Marietta, Georgia, one aunt, Pat (William) Smith of Evanston, Illinois.
Grandparents, Sam (Eddie Lee) Jones of Houston, Texas; and a host of step brothers, stepsisters, aunts, uncles and cousins from Texas and Illinois, and a vast circle of dear friends.
She was preceeded in death by her father, John Weathersby.
Service will be held at: Christian Faith Fellowship Church, 1727 27th St., Zion, Illinois 60099 (847)731-0700. Service: Thurs., Nov. 20. Interment: Mt. Olivet cemetery, Zion, Illinois. Wake: 10:00AM. Whyland "Bud" Rose
Whyland "Bud" Rose, age 60, born March 4, 1943, died October 25, 2003 in Farmington, NM. He was retired from the Illinois tollway. Bud was a lifelong Waukegan resident until a year ago when he moved to Farmington, NM. He served in the Navy for four years.
He is survived by a daughter, Athena (Mike) Sperry, of Beach Park, IL; a son Adrian Rose of Kenosha, WI; three grandchildren Anthony, Alex and Rhonda Sperry; his parents William and Vivian Rose of Lindenhurst, IL; a brother Calvin (Gail) Rose of New Hope, PA; a sister Marcia Rose of Gurnee, IL.
Memorial Services were held in early November.

Lillian M. Schmidt
Lillian M. Schmidt, 85, of Lake Geneva, WI, formerly of Antioch, IL, passed away Monday, November 17, 2003 at Harbor House Assisted Living in Lake Geneva, WI. She was born March 15, 1918 in Chicago, the daughter of the late George Jacob and Anna (Ehret) Eckerly. She had lived in River Grove for many years and later moved to Antioch for the summer and Ft. Pierce, FL for the winter. She formerly had worked as an accountant for several years. On March 14, 1936, she married Henry J. Schmidt IV in River Grove and he preceded her in death on January 22, 1988.
Survivors include a son, Henry J. (Martha) Schmidt V of Antioch, IL; a daughter, Lillian Marie Young of Barrington, IL; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Haney; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Eckerly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Leonard Eckerly; and a sister, Eileen Cordeiro.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 PM Friday, November 21, 2003 at STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83), Antioch, IL. Interment Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation 2:30 PM Friday until time of services.
Friends desiring may make donations to a family memorial.

Rollin L. "Butch" Tippet III
Rollin L. "Butch" Tippet III, 46, of Winthrop Harbor, IL., passed away November 16, 2003 at his home. He was born April 8, 1957 in Evanston, IL.
In his younger years, "Butch" enjoyed sailing and he recently received his Associates Degree from Columbia College. He was employed at Cardinal Health for the past 20 years where he was an Inventory Analyst.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Patricia "Tish" (nee Loesch); one daughter, Maureen Elizabeth; his father, Rollin L. Tippet II of Holiday, FL; five sisters, Michel (Richard Houser) Stafford of Schaumburg, IL, Kristin (Kevin) Shay of Coralville, IA, Elizabeth Tippet of Iowa City, IA; Megan (Patrick) Sullivan of Coralville, IA and Adrienne Tippet of Coralville, IA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Spector in 1995.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at 7:00 PM at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL. Visitation Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Leukemia Foundation.
