Leonard C. Ruby
Mass of Christian burial for Leonard C. Ruby, 85, of Gurnee, IL, will be celebrated 10 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2004 from St. Paul The Apostle Church in Gurnee. Entombment will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville with full military honors.
Friends may call at the Salata-Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee from 6-8 PM on Friday and from 9 AM Saturday until the time of Mass at church.
Leonard was born on June 16, 1919 in Chicago and passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at the Waukegan Pavilion Nursing Home.
He married Betty (nee Follman) on November 30, 1940 in Chicago and they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year.
He retired as plant superintendent from Commonwealth Edison in 1981 after 43 years of employment.
Leonard was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Church where he was also an usher. He was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Navy and was also a member of The American Legion, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and was an avid golfer and swimmer.
He was a graduate of Illinois Benedictine College earning a degree in business and management.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; one daughter, Marilyn (Norm) LaBelle of Gurnee; one son, Len (Peggy) Ruby, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; as well as nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory, in infancy; one brother, Walter in 1964; and one sister, Margaret Rymsza in 1966.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Paul The Apostle Church.

Elsie C. Schultz
Elsie C. Schultz, 86, a recent resident of Libertyville, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Libertyville Manor. She was born August 21, 1918 in Lake Geneva and had been a Chicago resident for most of her life.
She was a 1935 graduate of St. Michael High School in Chicago and was a former resident of The Breakers of Edgewater Beach. Elsie was a telephone operator as a young woman and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving are her son, James (Karen) Schultz of Vernon Hills; two grandchildren, Jonathan Schultz of Chicago and Jennifer Schultz of Lake Bluff; and her great grandchildren, Madison Belle Snyder. She was the dear aunt of Kathleen (Ken) Patterson, Patricia Connerton and Gerald (Barbara) Selah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nellie Bahlke; her husband, George Schultz and sisters, Loretta Welby and Mary Selah.
Prayers will begin at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, November 20 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville and services will continue to St. Mary of Vernon Church in Indian Creek for funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Irving Park cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation in her memory.

Ashley A. Stedronsky
Ashley A. Stedronsky, 19, a resident of Ingleside died Monday, November 15, 2004 at her home.
She was born in Libertyville, IL on October 4, 1985 to William G. and Carolyn (nee Bernota) Stedronsky and had attended Grant Community High School in Fox Lake.
She is survived by her parents, William G. and Carolyn Stedronsky of Ingleside; grandparents Wayne and Nancy Bernota of Ingleside; step-grandmother Marilyn Stedronsky of Round Lake Beach; a step grandfather Conrad Polhman of Alabama; a brother, Brian W. Stedronsky and his girlfriend, Robin Ryan, both of Spring Grove; step brother Casey Lutz of Round Lake; her uncle, Brian Bernota of Round Lake; her aunts, Susan (Ronald) Wake of Round Lake, Laurie (Paul) Koren of FL; and Donna Bernota of Waukegan. Other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather George Stedronsky.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, November 19, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. through time of services which will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 510 Cedar Lake Rd., Round Lake, IL with Pastor Lisle J. Kauffman officiating. Interment will be private.
The family was assisted by the K.K. HAMSHER FUNERAL HOME, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Stedronsky family appreciated. For information call 847-587-2100.

Debra Kay Sutton
Debra Kay Sutton, 50 a native of Winthrop Harbor, IL and resident of Bon Secour, AL, dies Monday, November 15, 2004.
Survivors include husband, Mr. Steve Taylor Sutton of Bon Secour, AL; son, Robert Roberts of Beach Park, IL; daughter, Nicole Sutton of Zion, IL; son, Steve Sutton of Bon Secour, AL; mother, Joyce (Pressnall) Dulaney of Zoin, IL; two sisters, Kathy Dulaney and Roxanne Cantu of Gurnee, IL; three grandchildren.
Visitation for Debra Kay Sutton will be held at Pine Rest Funeral Home, Foley Chapel on Friday, November 19, 2004 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley, AL.
Arrangements are by Pine Rest Funeral Home, Foley, Alabama.

Herman Walker
Herman Walker, 68, of Beach Park, died on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at his home following a long illness.
Herman was born June 10, 1936 in Osceola, Arkansas, and had lived in Marietta, Mississippi and Pascagoula, Mississippi before moving to Zion in 1957 after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force following four years of service. On April 2, 1977 he married Myra Parker of Zion in Waukegan. Together, they owned and operated Hickory House Restaurant and Lounge in Beach Park for 18 years. Herman had owned various other businesses in this area prior to that. He was also a member of Moose and Elks Clubs, V.F.W., and the American Legion. An avid NASCAR race fan, Herman was a fun, loving and giving man.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Myra; children, Connie, Joni and Brian Walker; three loving step-children, Kimberly (Russ) Garrett of Channahon, Illinois, Tina (Dan Kleinhubert) Johnston of Gurnee and Robert (Melissa) Johnston of Spring Grove, Illinois; grandchildren, Scott (Kristy) Garrett, Melissa (Kevin) Groff, Lindsey, Brian and Adam Garrett, Ashley and Conner Bowcott, Hannah, Bradley, Grace and Owen Johnston and Cassidee and Michael Box; one great-grandchild, Ethan Groff; one brother, Skip Walker of Beach Park; a loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Parker of Fulton, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynn Renee Walker; and by his parents, Travis Walker and Zela (nee Maxcy) Hunter.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 21, 2004 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. William Clarence Alston
William Clarence Alston entered into eternal rest on Wednesday evening, November 11, 2003, with his spouse of 51 years, Gloria, holding his hand.
Also surviving him are his nine loving children, Mary, Constance, Terry, Barry, Rhea, Rebecca, Randy, Paula, Susan and Oran; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; many special nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Home Going Services will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Mary E. (Overton-Gayden) Bankston
Mary E. (Overton-Gayden) Bankston was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the union of Verlee and Melvin Overton on March 19, 1962. She departed this life on November 15, 2003.
Mary was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B.J. Gaston.
Mary E. Overton-Gayden Bankston was preceded in death by her mother, Verlee Overton; her adopted mother, Irene Gayden; sisters, Sandra Nichlos and Rayena (Ray) Moss.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted husband, Vincent Bankston of Zion, IL. She was the loving mother of three sons, Vincent Bankston Jr., Shaun M. Bankston and Devin J. Bankston, all of Zion, IL; her father, Melvin E. Overton, Sr., of Norfolk, VA; adopted father, Sylvester "Blue" Gayden of Muscle Shore, AL; her step-mother, Estelle N. Overton, Norfolk, VA; four brothers, John Willis Gayden of Oakland, CA, Melvin Overton Jr., of Zion, IL., Mark Overton of North Chicago, IL. and Paul Overton of Chesapeake, VA; four sisters, Karen Evans of Suffolk, VA, Jacqueline Gayden of Round Lake, IL, Joanna Moss of Norfolk VA. and Juanita Overton of Norfolk, VA; and a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be on Thursday November 20, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2500 W. 30th St., Zion, IL. with Pastor B.J. Gaston officiating. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.

Robert J. Bauer Jr.
Robert John Bauer Jr. (Bob), 72, of Gurnee, formerly of Chicago, went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2003 at the North Chicago VA Medical Center.
Bob served his country in the US Army from 1952 to 1955. He worked for many years as a Pharmaceutical salesman, and later as a Trainer and Driver for First Student School Bus Company in Waukegan. He was a member of the Waukegan Masonic Lodge #78. Bob was a die-hard Cubs and Bears fan, but recently came to love the Green Bay Packers. Bob lost his eye sight due to diabetes about six years ago. He started attending First Southern Baptist Church with his longtime friend, Jack Stewart, in 1999. He later surrendered his life to Jesus Christ, and became a member of First Southern. It was at First Southern that he met his beloved wife Evelyn. They were married on June 17, 1999. Other than his love for sports, he enjoyed having breakfast at his favorite diner, the "Dog House" in Waukegan.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Fell Bauer of Gurnee; three sons, William R. Bauer, Robert J. Bauer, and Thomas R. Bauer, all of Illinois; and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Dorothy Bauer.
Funeral services will be held at First Southern Baptist Church, 12710 W. Southview Ave., Waukegan, IL, on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private for the family. Visitation will be at the Congdon Funeral home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to First Southern Baptist Church of Waukegan.

Gloria M. Benham
Gloria M. Benham, 57, of Green Oaks, IL, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2003 at the Lake Forest Hospital. She was born September 26, 1946 in Chicago and had been a resident of Green Oaks for the past 20 years. She was a 1964 graduate of Wells High School in Chicago and was a travel agent, associated with the Travel and More Agency in Libertyville. Gloria was an active volunteer at Lamb's Farm and was a member and past Matron of the Queen of Esther Chapter #41, O.E.S. in Skokie.
Surviving are her husband Jeff of Benham, Ichen & Knox LLP and daughter Michelle Benham, both of Green Oaks; her mother Marjorie Lavery of Libertyville; her sister Marcia (Robert) Eichler and nephew David Eichler, both of Chicago; her father-in-law, Albert Benham and sister-in-law Sue Benham, both of Libertyville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Lavery, by her sister Nora and mother-in-law, Olga Benham.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 19 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Eastern Star services will be held during the visitation at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lamb's Farm Women's Board Beautification Project. .

Earl L. Creger
Earl L. Creger, age 70, a resident of Round Lake Beach for over 45 years passed away Friday, November 14, 2003 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. He was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He loved fishing, watching golf and football on T.V., was an avid Packer fan, and was a John Deere fanatic. Earl and Kay owned and operated HP and Me for 12 years in Round Lake. He loved life and his family.
Earl is survived by his wife of 48 years Kay (nee Robinson) whom he married on November 14, 1955 in Nassau, IA, his children Lenny (Spring) Creger, Linda (Jimmy) Myers, Lorry (Richard) Heatley, his grandchildren, Jason, Joe and Jennifer Creger, Davonta Robertson, Michael and Nicholas Heatley, Justin Houghtling, and Crystal and Cody Creger, his brother Kenneth (Marcella) Creger, his sister Mavis (Dennis) DeWalle, his dogs Gizmo and Gidget, and he leaves behind many friends and neighbors.
His parents Alfred Creger in 1976 and Mabel Creger in 1994, his son Lonny Dean Creger in 1991, and his grandson Little Lenny Houghtling in 2001 preceded him in death.
A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030 at 11 a.m. Friends of the family may visit on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at the funeral chapel from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
