Mary F. Thompson
Mary F. Thompson, 76, of Waukegan passed away Thursday, November 15, 2001 in Provena St. Therese Medical Center.
She was born December 22, 1924 in Covington, Virginia.
Survivors include two sons, David (Lucy) Thompson of Lake Villa and Johnny (Dana) Thompson of Waukegan; four grandchildren, including Deborah who has given her loving care; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Edith (Harold) Arrington of Landover, MD and Shelby (George) Greaver of Roxboro, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1988; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be Private on Saturday, November 17, 2001 in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 AM Saturday only at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St.

Shirley B. Ward
Shirley B. Ward, of Lindenhurst, formerly of Somerset, NJ., passed away on November 11, 2001 at Victory Memorial Hospital.
She was a graduate of Mountainside School of Nursing in Mount Clair, NJ., class of 1945. She retired as Industrial Nurse from American Cyanamid Corp. in Clifton, NJ.
Shirley is survived by three children, Kathleen G. (Mohsin) Ahmed of Somerset, NJ, Richard A. Ward of Jacksonville, FL, Robert A. (Anna) Ward of Lindenhurst, IL; five grandchildren, Christopher, Kara, Ricky, Anthony and Kaitlin; one sister, Frances Pontier of Clifton, NJ; one brother, Robert Merkel of Staunton, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony in 1978.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2001 11 a.m. at Trinity United Lutheran Church on 658 Grand Ave, Waukegan. Burial will be private. Memorials to the Scholarship Program at Mountainside School of Nursing Alumni Association, Marilyn Libak, 148 Chittenden Rd., Clifton, NJ., 09013 would be appreciated.

Rev. Louis F. Weichbrodt
Rev. Louis F. Weichbrodt, 84, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001 at his home. He was born June 2, 1917 in Saskatchewan, Canada and had been a Libertyville resident since 1966. He was US Army Air Corps veteran, having served in the China-India-Burma Theatre during WW II. Lou was an ordained minister, having received his Masters of Divinity Degree from the Chicago Theological Seminary and the University of Chicago. He was a member of the former Faith Community Church in Vernon Hills and the Libertyville-Mundelein Men's Garden Club. Before his retirement, he had been employed as a computer operator at Fort Sheridan in Highwood.
Surviving are his wife Donna; two children, Sue (James) Sullivan of Stockton, CA and Daniel (Paulicia) Weichbrodt of Beach Park; a sister Gwendolyn (Jerry) O'Brien of Hendersonville, TN; two brothers, Edward (Norma) of Bunker Hill, IL and Julius (Clara) of Ruckersville, VA. He was preceded in death by his brothers George and Fritz.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 19 at the Community Protestant Church, 418 N. Prairie, Mundelein. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery in Libertyville. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. Libertyville. Memorial contributions can be made to either the Advocate Hospice or Condell Intergenerational Day Center in his memory.

Doris E. Willett
Doris E. Willett, 77, formerly of Antioch, IL, died on Thursday, November 15, 2001 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion.
Doris was born on September 30, 1924 in Lancaster, PA.
She lived at Orchard Manor in Antioch until 1999. Doris Waitressed at Lorenza's Countryhouse in Antioch for many years. She was also a member of Christian Life Fellowship Church in Antioch.
She is survived by her daughters, Frances K. (Joseph) Schmidt of Lakeview, AR, Susanne D. (Mark) Ukkonen of Antioch, IL and Patricia A. (Antonio) Chagoya of Winthrop Harbor, IL; her grandchildren, Robert Heywood on Antioch, Jason Friedrich of Waukegan, Jody (Roberto) Colecio of Waukegan and Matti Ukkonen of Antioch; and her great grandson, Jason, II.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at 1 PM at the Christian Life Fellowship Church in Antioch. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by the SALATA GURNEE FUNERAL HOME.

Cecelea Garner
Mass of Christian Burial for Cecelea Garner (nee Chasco) 92 of Mundelein is 10 AM Wednesday at Santa Maria del Popolo Chapel 116 N. Lake St. (Route 45) Mundelein.
Interment will follow in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
She was born May 23, 1912 in Assumption, IL. And died Sunday, November 14, 2004 at Manor Care in Libertyville. Cecelea was the last member of the immediate family of Peter and Victoria Chasco.
She is survived by her daughter Jacque (Gerard) Howland, granddaughters Pamela (Robert) Mellor, Donna (John) Lobaito, grandsons Gregory and Michael Howland, 5 great grandchildren Matthew, Jeffery and Lauren Mellor, Michael and Megan Lobaito.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Patrick.
Cecelea also had a great love for her grandson's dog Hooligan .
Visitation is Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the KRISTAN FUNERAL HOME P.C., 219 West Maple Ave. (2 blocks west of Rt. 45 on Rt. 176) Mundelein.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the American Cancer Society Lake County Regional Office 100 Tri-State International #125 Lincolnshire, IL. 60069. 847-566-8020.

Harold E. Grattage
Harold E. Grattage, 86, of Waukegan died November 13, 2004 at St. Therese Hospital, Waukegan. He was born May 17, 1918 in Barrington, RI and was a member of St. Dismas Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy in the "Sea Bees". He loved all sports and traveling.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary L. (Baron) Bakkum of Waukegan; three grandchildren, Robin (DaWayne) Penberthy of Savannah, GA, Cory Allen Bakkum of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Dean Robert (Karen) Bakkum of Waukegan; seven great grandchildren, Shay, Jennifer, Amber, Paige, Hannah, Kyle and Sean; and a great great grandson, Jacob Jensen.
preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, September 18, 1990; a brother, Wilbur Henry; a sister, Mildred Irene Littlefield; as well as his parents.
Memorial Mass pending at St. Augustine's Church, Newport, Rhode Island. Burial will be in St. Colombas cemetery in Middletown, RI.
Memorials may be made to either the Waukegan Fire Department Paramedics, fire department of choice or Dogs for the Hearing Impaired.

Carlos Maldonado
Carlos Maldonado, 69, of Waukegan, IL passed away November 12, 2004 in Racine, WI. He was born November 4, 1935 in Waukegan.
He served in the United States Navy and the Naval Reserve. He was retired from Abbott Laboratories after 40 years of service.
His is survived by his wife, Ophelia (Gonzalez) Maldonado; children, Elizabeth Maldonado, Veronica (Tom) McDowell, Christopher Maldonado and Carlos Maldonado, Jr.; granddaughter, Kimberly McDowell; siblings, Jose Maldonado, Jr., Elsa (David) Spriggs, Gloria Maldonado, John (Esperanza) Maldonado and Serafin Maldonado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Amparo, Maria Maldonado; a special niece, Diane Spriggs; also various nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will take place at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME in Waukegan. Interment Ascension cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, November 16, 2004 and on Wednesday from 9-10 AM at MARSH FUNERAL HOME.

Nicholas Anthony Mirando
Nicholas Anthony Mirando, 74, a resident of Grayslake since 1987 passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at his residence. He was born January 28, 1930 in Cleveland, OH.
Member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, the Knights of Columbus of Waukegan, the Yacht Club of which he also served on the board. He also taught religious education classes for years, volunteered in community services, enjoyed traveling, boating, golf and reading. He was the founder of Graphic Sheet-Fed./Custom Graphics. he was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta of 46 years. They were married on August 16, 1958 in Conneaut, OH. His children, Mark (Susan) Mirando of Barrington, Michelle Mirando Lannan of Grayslake and Natalie Mirando of Minnetonka, MN; grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas and Jaymes Lannan, Gina, Anthony and Tim Mirando; nieces, Rachel Cain and Patti Krafchak; nephews, Jeffrey Cain, Keith Knack, Michael Krafchak and Michael Bartone.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd. in Gurnee. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Also 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 305 cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Donald H. Picard
Donald H. Picard, 80, of Waukegan passed away on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Harbor House in Kenosha. He was born August 21. 1924 in Oconto, WI. Donald was a member of Johnson Motors Musky Club, Waukegan VFW and Waukegan Moose. He was a veteran of the United States Marines serving in World War II and Korea. He retired from Johnson Motors after 30 years of Service.
Donald is survived by his sons, Jeff (Margaret) Picard of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Terry (Brenda) Picard of Zion and Jay (Carolyn) Picard of Beach Park; his grandchildren, Jeremy (Shannon) Picard, Heather (Steve) Lange, Jennifer Picard, Josh Picard and Kimberly Picard; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Bob) Frost of Onconto, WI.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Faye Picard in December 1, 2003; parents, Englebert and Katherine Picard; and brother, David (Corrine) Picard.

Virginia B. Powell
Virginia B. Powell, a resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away Friday, November 12, 2004 at Lutheran General in Park Ridge, IL at the age of 74. She was born October 24, 1930 in Obin, TN to the late John and Ovela Carney.
Virginia attended Calvary Presbyterian Church in Round Lake and was a 25-year resident of Round Lake.
Virginia is survived by her children, Linda (Chuck) Hacker, Larry (Henrietta) Powell, James Powell, Danny (Irene) Powell, and Tammy (Andy) Lamont; her 20 grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Fred (Wanda) Carney and Jack (Ann) Carney.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Powell; her sons, Jerry and Ricky Powell; her grandsons, Chucky and Raymond Gersch; a son-in-law, Ray Gersch; three sisters, two brothers, and her parents.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will be held immediately after the service at Avon Centre cemetery in Grayslake, IL. Friends of the family may visit on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
