Captain Harold R. Neubauer
Captain Harold R. Neubauer, born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin January 15, 1920, died at the Washington State Veterans Home, Retsil, Washington, November 8, 2001.
He attended Oshkosh High School and graduated from Illinois Northwestern University in Police Training and Investigations.
Served in World War II with the U.S. Navy Division of Yard Police and Investigation from 1942 to 1946.
From 1956 to 1977 he was affiliated with the Lake County, Illinois Sheriff's Department, retiring in 1977 as Administrative Assistant and Captain.
Captain Neubauer moved to Oregon in 1977, later relocating in Vancouver, Washington.
He is survived by his wife, Joan H. Fisher; step-daughter, Sheryl Palumbo and step-son, Wallace Fisher, Jr., both of Walla Walla, Washington; brother and sister-in-law, Edger and Ernestine Neubauer, of Oshkosh and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one brother and seven sisters.
Internment and memorial services will be held at Poklasny Funeral Home, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, November 15, at 10:30 A.M.
Gasparino "Gappo" Pasquesi
Gasparino "Gappo" Pasquesi, 70, life long resident of Highland Park, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001. Gasparino was born October 17, 1931 in Highland Park, Illinois.
Gasparino was an active member of St. James Parish, volunteered at Highland Park Health Care and served in the Air Force.
Beloved son of the late, Silvio and Irene Pasquesi. Loving brother of Caroline Murphy and Lucy Konsler, both of Highland Park. Adored uncle of James Murphy of Chicago and Robert Murphy of Lake Forest and Thomas Murphy of Chicago, Carole Peariman of Highland Park, David Konsler of Lake Forest, Gail Lindstrom of Antioch and Kathleen Orton of Clarendon Hills. Caring great-uncle of 19.
preceded in death by brother-in-laws, Daniel Murphy and Carl Konsler.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, at Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park, IL 60035.
Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, at St. James Church, 134 North Ave., Highwood, IL.
Interment at St. Mary's cemetery, Highland Park, IL.

Ronald G. Petrick
Ronald G. Petrick, 45 years old of Antioch, passed away Monday November 12, 2001 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL. He was born February 28, 1956 in Chicago, the son of George C. and Shirley (Thomas) Petrick. He lived in Cicero before moving to Antioch three years ago. Ronald worked in maintenance for Piggly Wiggly in Antioch and was a member of the United Food Workers Union #1540. He enjoyed surfing the web, old western movies, watching sport events, especially the Bears.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Petrick (Jerry Chute) of Hanford, CA; his fiancee, Therese Gatz of Antioch; two aunts, Betty Lorenz of Antioch and Joanie Parker of Arlington Heights, IL and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George.
Memorial funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, November 17, 2001 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83) Antioch. Interment is private. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 PM Saturday until time of services. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
Demosthenese R. Phillips Sr.
Demosthenese R. Phillips Sr., 53, of North Chicago, IL died suddenly at home on Sunday November 11, 2001. He was born on January 25, 1948 in Helena, Arkansas.
He is survived by three sons, Greg Phillips of Chicago, IL, Demosthenese R. Phillips Jr. of Waukegan, IL and Danny Graham of Zion, IL; one daughter Catina Phillips of North Chicago, IL; six grandchildren Justin, Tisha, Danny, Dasha, Jermaine, Eric and D'Anequa; five brothers Charles Phillips of Zion, IL, Robert Phillips of Helena, AR; Maurice Wiley of Raleigh N.C.; Tony Casanova of Memphis, TN and Johnny (Mary) Phillips of North Chicago, IL; two sisters Mary Bailey of Memphis, TN and Kathy Craigen of North Chicago, IL; his mother Eula Mae Phillips of North Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Phillips and one brother James Phillips.

Nathaniel Harvey Richards
Nathaniel Harvey Richards, formerly of North Chicago, Illinois passed away suddenly Sunday morning November 11 at his home in Chicago at the age of 58.
Nathaniel was born July 9, 1943, in Waukegan and moved to Chicago in his youth.
Nathaniel graduated from Englewood High School in Chicago, earned a BS in General Education from Northwestern University (1977) and an MS in Human Relations Services from Governors State University (1980). Nathaniel's professional career spanned many years. He was most recently a special education teacher at Englewood Technical Preparatory Academy. He served fifteen years as a counselor, teacher, and assistant principal over the GED curriculum at the State of Illinois Department of Corrections. From 1994 to 1999, Nathaniel served as college program coordinator for the National Lewis University at the Joliet Correctional Center. Prior to that, he taught GED classes in the adult learning skills program at Olive-Harvey City College in Chicago.
Nathaniel is survived by his wife Elyse (nee Cook) of Chicago; his mother Mrs. Emily Barnes of North Chicago; his father Nathaniel Johnson of North Chicago; siblings: Catherine (Riley) McIntosh of Chicago, Louis (Lorenda) Richards of Fontana California, Florence Richards of Waukegan, Elaine (Rodney) Hill of Detroit Michigan, Marilyn (Steve) Wikner of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Offie Barnes Jr., of Georgia, Pamela (Robert) Ritter of North Chicago, Hubert Johnson of California, Cheryl (Carlton) Turner of North Chicago and Darlene (Donald) Smith of North Chicago, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Elsa Mae Shue (Susnar)
Elsa Mae Shue, 85, of Englewood, FL, passed away Monday, November 12, 2001 at the Beverly Health Care Center in Englewood. She was born October 19, 1916 in Bellaire, Ohio, was a former resident of Milwaukee and has lived in Englewood since 1986. She was a loving wife and mother, a member of the Serbian Sisters and the VFW Post #10178 Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Robert R. Susnar of San Marino, CA and Ronald S. Susnar of Waupaca, WI; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Susnar, by her second husband Jay Shue, a daughter Georgia and a brother Ernest.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 16 at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Libertyville. Interment will follow in the monastery cemetery. Arrangements are by the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME in Libertyville.
Donald L. Verne
Donald L. Verne, 92, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago. He was born March 10, 1909 in Huron, Ohio. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waukegan. Donald was the past commander of American Legion Post 281, past commander of VFW Post 1293, a member of La Societe Des 40/8 Voyager 604, a member of the DAV and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Verne of Waukegan, LeRoy (Connie) Verne of Waukegan, Katherine Topel of Casa Grande, AZ, Laura (Kent) Beck of Oconto, WI, daughter-in-law, Jackie Verne of Waukegan, 13 grandchildren and 23 great-granddchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, Donald, Ronald and Robert, great-granddaughter, Jennifer M. Zickovich, his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 15, 2001 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL. Interment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Thursday only at the Funeral Home.
Ma. Rosario Arteaga
Ma. Rosario Arteaga, 84, of Vernon Hills, IL passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born February 15, 1918 in Coeneo, Mexico and came to live in the United States in 1974. She was a former resident of Wheeling and Mt. Prospect and has lived in Vernon Hills for the past three years. Rosario was a member of Santa Maria del Popolo Parish in Mundelein.
Surviving are her husband, Bardomiano; four children: Jose (Elsa) Arteaga of Palatine, Amparo Arteaga, Victoria (Ramiro) Ceja and Rosario (Jose) Herrera, all of Vernon Hills; 15 grandchildren; one brother and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her son, Victoriano, in 1963.
Prayers will begin at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, November 16, at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville and services will continue to the Santa Maria del Popolo Chapel for funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Winnie Carrison
Winnie Carrison, 63, of Waukegan, IL, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at her home.
She was born April 17, 1939 in Pekin, IL and had lived in this area for the last 50 years. She worked at the Lake County Treasurers Office for 11 years and the North Shore Gas Credit Union. She was a member of Wesley Church in Waukegan. Her hobby that she enjoyed was candy making and cake decorating.
Winnie is survived by her loving daughter, Lorraine "Lorie" (Mark) Krueger of Greenfield, WI, a son, John W. Carrison of Arizona, and 3 grandchildren, Shane Schanstra, Logan Talles, and Michael Dean.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Florence Fishback.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Wesley Church, 3601 North Lewis Avenue, Waukegan, IL with services to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Pine View cemetery, Beach Park, IL.
Jack Fiore
Jack Fiore, 80, of Grayslake passed away Monday, November 11, 2002, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
He was a resident of Grayslake area since 1953. He was the owner of the first pizza restaurant ever opened in Lake County ("The Casino" located in Libertyville in 1953), and owned and operated many restaurants locally, including, "The Satellite Steak House" in Grayslake (1958), "Fiore's" in Antioch (1962), "Fiore's" in Round Lake (1966), and "Fiore's Pizza Pub on Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach (1972), retiring in 1985. He was an avid fisherman, making his own rods and lures, and was involved in tournament fishing.
He is survived by his sons, Barry R. (Laurel) Fiore of Centennial, CO and Jack C. (Janet) Fiore of Grayslake; grandchildren: Todd Fiore of Denver, CO, Tiffany (Michael) Schiefelbein of Rocklin, CA, Tyson Fiore of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Tanya Fiore of Somerville, MA; two great-grandchildren: Kelsie and Kaden; his sisters: Anna Glielmi of Glenview and Marilyn Glielmi of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Marcia M. (nee Berg) Fiore, in 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2002, at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. Joyce Leah Hanlin
Joyce Leah Hanlin, 60, of Lindenhurst passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at home. She was born August 31, 1942 in Waukegan and graduated from Holy Child High School. She was a member and officer of the American Business Women's Association. Joyce retired from the Personnel Support Detachment NTC, Great Lakes, after 32 years of service.
She is survived by her mother, Emily Hanlin of Lindenhurst. Also surviving are two aunts: Julia Sidlauskas of Waukegan and Bernice Streed of Lindenhurst. She is also survived by cousins in Wadsworth, IL, Beavercreek, OH, and Quincy, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Hanlin, on October 21, 1946.
Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at SALATA FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday.
