Nicholas Anthony Mirando
Nicholas Anthony Mirando, 74, a resident of Grayslake since 1987 passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at his residence. He was born January 28, 1930 in Cleveland, OH.
Member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, the Knights of Columbus of Waukegan, the Yacht Club of which he also served on the board. He also taught religious education classes for years, volunteered in community services, enjoyed traveling, boating, golf and reading. He was the founder of Graphic Sheet-Fed./Custom Graphics. he was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta of 46 years. They were married
on August 16, 1958 in Conneaut, OH. His children, Mark (Susan) Mirando of Barrington, Michelle Mirando Lannan of Grayslake and Natalie Mirando of Minnetonka, MN; grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas and Jaymes Lannan, Gina, Anthony and Tim Mirando; nieces, Rachel Cain and Patti Krafchak; nephews, Jeffrey Cain, Keith Knack, Michael Krafchak and Michael Bartone.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd. in Gurnee. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Also 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 305 cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL.

John J. Oplt, Jr.
John J. Oplt, Jr., 67, of Zion, IL, formerly of Round Lake Beach, died on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at home. He was born July 2, 1937 in Chicago, IL and married
Norine Marshall on September 4, 1982 in Millburn, IL.
John retired from North Shore Gas in 1994, after 24 years of employment. He was a die-hard Cub Fan, loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Norine; seven children, John J. (Rachel) Oplt III of Barrington, IL, Debra Oplt of Elgin, IL, Robby (Wanda) Oplt of Gray, GA, Keith (Annette) Oplt of Glen Ellyn, IL, Joyce (David) Kopielski of Schaumburg, IL, Scott (Angela) Oplt of Genoa, IL, and Beth (Michael) Stibgen of Woodstock, IL; grandchildren, Alyssa, Natalie, Randy, Justin, Stephanie, Bradley, Mike, Lisa, Andrew, Ryan, Kaley, David and Baby Stibgen; a sister, Joanne (John) McTague of Hoffmann Estates, IL; a and brother, Jymm (Kathy) Oplt of Des Moines, IA. John was also Papa to his beloved pet dogs, Desiree, Lucy, Mugs, Spike, and Anna.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George Oplt; and his parents, John and Helen Oplt.
A memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 15, 2004 at 7:00 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Chaplain Percy McCray, officiating. Interment will be private for the family. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 PM, until time of services at the Congdon Funeral Home.

Donald H. Picard
Donald H. Picard, 80, of Waukegan passed away on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Harbor House in Kenosha. He was born August 21. 1924 in Oconto, WI. Donald was a member of Johnson Motors Musky Club, Waukegan VFW and Waukegan Moose. He was a veteran of the United States Marines serving in World War II and Korea. He retired from Johnson Motors after 30 years of Service.
Donald is survived by his sons, Jeff (Margaret) Picard of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Terry (Brenda) Picard of Zion and Jay (Carolyn) Picard of Beach Park; his grandchildren, Jeremy (Shannon) Picard, Heather (Steve) Lange, Jennifer Picard, Josh Picard and Kimberly Picard; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Bob) Frost of Onconto, WI.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Faye Picard in December 1, 2003; parents, Englebert and Katherine Picard; and brother, David (Corrine) Picard.

Patricia Schenkel, born December 31, 1973 in Chicago, IL died on November 10, 2004 in Chicago. Patricia is survived by her husband, Kristopher Schenkel, her mother and father-in-law Don and Cathi Schenkel, and sisters and brothers-in-law Marc and Beth Schenkel, Raymond Schenkel, Lily Schenkel, all of Waukegan and Teresa Schenkel, Alabama, also her many friends in Uptown. Memorial services are private. Internment is at St. Peter's First United Church of Christ cemetery, Huntington, IN. Peace she sought. Peace she has found.
Dolores S. Shaffer
Dolores S. Shaffer, 76, a Wildwood resident, passed away Friday afternoon, November 12, 2004 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born June 15, 1928 in Chicago to Eric and Mable (nee Pedersen) Skoglund.
Dolores was a member of the Lakeland Evangelical Church and an avid bowler at Bertrand's in Waukegan for over 40 years.
Surviving are her children, Gene Staffer of Kenosha, WI and Janet Shaffer of Wildwood; her grandchildren, Jason Shaffer of Wildwood, Lara Shaffer of Kenosha, WI and Kevin Shick of Wildwood; and her brother, Roger (Mary Jane) Skoglund of Gages Lake.
Her husband, Lloyd "Bud" Shaffer; her son, Roy Shaffer and aforementioned parents precede her in death.
Friends of the family may visit on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 from 4 to 8 p.m. at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. BELVIDERE RD., GRAYSLAKE, IL 60030. Interment will be held privately.

Roger L. Woodard
Roger L. (Woody) Woodard, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the age of 56. He was born on November 21, 1947 to Robert and Jeanne Woodard in Waukegan, IL.
Roger is survived by his wife, Jeanette; brother, James Lee Woodard of Zion, IL; sister, Linda Jeanne Woodard of Waukegan, IL; daughters, Gina Woodard, Tinamarie Perry, and Kathleen Castillo; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; a brother, Jon Woodard; and a sister, Laura Wilson.
Private family services are to be held at a later date.
Lenore Armour
Lenore Armour, 83, of Waukegan, IL, died suddenly Sunday, November 10, 2002 at her home with her family at her side.
She was born March 13, 1919 in Wadsworth, IL and lived all of her life in this area. She was a "die hard" Chicago Cub fan and had a genuine love for flowers and gardening and was a member of Royal Neighbors.
Lenore is survived by her son William E. (Linda) Armour of Beach Park, IL, her daughter Judith L. Losch of Wadsworth, IL, her grandchildren Steven and Amanda Armour and Jessica and Jamie "Jay" Losch, and her sister Dorothy Schaufel of Gurnee, IL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Edna (nee Lux) Doyle, her husband Edward on November 18, 1978, twin-daughter Susan, and 4 brothers, Albert Doyle, Daniel Doyle, George E. Doyle and Robert Emmet Doyle.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2002 at GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL, Rev. James E. Merold, officiating. Jan Alan Brennan
Jan Alan Brennan, 55, of Wadsworth, passed away Monday, November 11, 2002 at his home. He was born December 15, 1946 in St. Petersburg, FL and attended St. Patrick's Church in Wadsworth. He was employed as a customer systems technician for Ameritech for 33 years and was a member of IBEW #21. He was an avid Nascar and Harley Davidson fan and had raced at Waukegan Speedway and Wilmot. He was a Viet Nam Veteran having served in the Army 1st Air Calvary Division. He served for 12 years as a board member for Warren Township High School.
Survivors include 4 children Tammy (Scott) McBrien of Bristol, WI, Tracy Brennan of Wadsworth, Shane Brennan of Wildwood and Shaun Brennan of Gurnee; 2 grandchildren Madison and Brennan McBrien; parents Richard and Phyllis Brennan of Gurnee; a sister Dawn Brennan of Gurnee; a brother Bill (Betty) Brennan of Portland, OR; 4 nieces Kelly Kofler, Stephanie Brennan, Faye and Samantha Molback; a nephew Stephen Brennan; many aunts, uncles, cousins; his long time girlfriend Patty Buirge; along with dear friends who loved him and will miss him very much. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda (Molback) Brennan in 1994.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2002 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd. with Fr. Pat Cecil officiating. Interment will be private. Jack Fiore
Jack Fiore, 80, of Grayslake passed away Monday, November 11, 2002, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
He was a resident of Grayslake area since 1953. He was the owner of the first pizza restaurant ever opened in Lake County ("The Casino" located in Libertyville in 1953), and owned and operated many restaurants locally, including, "The Satellite Steak House" in Grayslake (1958), "Fiore's" in Antioch (1962), "Fiore's" in Round Lake (1966), and "Fiore's Pizza Pub on Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach (1972), retiring in 1985. He was an avid fisherman, making his own rods and lures, and was involved in tournament fishing.
He is survived by his sons, Barry R. (Laurel) Fiore of Centennial, CO and Jack C. (Janet) Fiore of Grayslake; grandchildren: Todd Fiore of Denver, CO, Tiffany (Michael) Schiefelbein of Rocklin, CA, Tyson Fiore of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Tanya Fiore of Somerville, MA; two great-grandchildren: Kelsie and Kaden; his sisters: Anna Glielmi of Glenview and Marilyn Glielmi of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Marcia M. (nee Berg) Fiore, in 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2002, at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. Larissa Gaines-Atterberry
Larissa Gaines-Atterberry, 4, of Libertyville, IL, passed away suddenly Sunday, November 10, 2002 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born December 8, 1997 in Libertyville, attended the Laremont School in Grayslake and the Condell Intergenerational Day Care Center in Libertyville. Larissa loved music and attending services at Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Waukegan.
Surviving are her parents, Cherrie and Jared; her maternal grandparents, with home she made her home, Lorenzo and Angela Atterberry and uncles, Charles and Cheron, all of Libertyville; her paternal grandmother, Bonnie Jones of North Chicago and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 15 at Jesus Name Apostolic Church, located at the corners of Lake, County and Genesee Streets in Waukegan. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery in Libertyville. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. .
Walter R. Geary
Walter R. Geary, 76, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Mundelein, IL, passed away November 1, 2002 at CLC, Bonner Springs, KS. He was born June 4, 1926, in Prairie View, IL. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by a son, Brian of Overland Park, KS; two brothers, Roy (Virginia) of Libertyville, Lester (Dorothy) of Grayslake; three sisters, Vivienne Umbdenstock and Doris Celba both of Mundelein, and Norene Turner of Kansas City, KS. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick; his parents, Lee and Ivy Geary; two brothers, Ronald (Blanche) and Russell (Ruby) of Mundelein; and one sister, Alma (Henry) Reidel of Lake Villa.
Private burial was at Leavenworth National Military cemetery. Arrangements by Kansas City Funeral Directors.
Rebecca Ann Hawn
Rebecca Ann (nee Boyd) Hawn, 76, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2002 under Hospice care at Westmoreland Nursing Home. She was a native of Newport News, VA. She had been in Stuart, FL for the past 20 years, and previously resided in Waukegan and Lake Bluff for 45 years. She was married
to Charles W. Hawn for 49 years, and had two sons Mark and Paul of Waukegan. She worked as a Realtor for Best Realty, as a receptionist for Dr. Creath, and served as a volunteer at Victory Memorial Hospital. She was a friend to many and loved to fish, golf, garden and generally make things a little better wherever she could. People will be eating from the grapefruit, lime and avocado trees she planted for many years to come.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley in 1994, 3 brothers and a sister.
She will be missed by her survivors, Mark (Cindy) and Paul (Linda), three grandchildren, Audrey, Nick and Melissa, and a great grandchild Rose, all of Waukegan and her two sisters Virginia and Madeline of Alexandria, VA.
Services will be private. Donations may be made to the charity of donors choice.
