Sylvester Glenn
The Sunrise of Sylvester Glenn began October 22, 1922 in Pace, Mississippi. Sylvester was the oldest of nine children. He moved to Waukegan, IL after serving in the U.S. Army in 1945. He met and fell in love with Evelyn Glenn in 1947, that union weathered the storms for 50 years until she was called home in September of 1997. Glenn worked and retired from the Great Lakes Naval Training Station Public Works center for many years.
After a lengthy illness God called Glenn home late Tuesday, June 11. He has left to cherish his memory a stepson Theodore Bell of California. He also leaves three sisters Willie Mae (Charles) Bobo, Margaret Moore of North Chicago, Claudia Kinney of Topeka, Kansas and one brother Thomas (Gladys) Miller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Evelyn Glenn, his dear mother Rosie Jones, his father Rev. Glenn, two sisters Rebecca Fortune and Annie May Lynch, and two brothers Wesley Miller and Charles Miller.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sat., June 15, 2002 at The Bradshaw and Range Funeral Home, 2513 Dugdale Rd. in Waukegan. Reverend Henry Woods officiating. Interment will be Mt. Olivet Memorial Park cemetery, Zion, IL. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 12:00 Noon Saturday. 847-662-3553

Betty M. Gruebnau
Betty M. Gruebnau (nee Geary), 80, of Lake Zurich, passed away Friday, June 14, 2002 in Lake Zurich. She was born May 9, 1922 in Barrington, IL and was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her children Gary G. and Scott L.; her grandchildren Sean G. and Kelsey E.; and her sister-in-law Evelyn Geary. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon H.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 17, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at AHLGRIM & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL. Interment will be at Lake Zurich cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, 2002 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter UCC, 47 Church Street, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Mary Ellen Hendrickson (Paavilainen)
Mary Ellen Hendrickson (Paavilainen), 71, of Babbitt, MN, formerly of Waukegan, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2002. She was born July 25, 1930 in Elkhart, IN.
Survivors include her husband W.O. Hendrickson; her sons David (Ronda), Dale (Kathy) and Donald (Vicki); 6 stepchildren; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 13 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; and her brother Robert E. Runyan. She is also survived by many other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel E. and Ruth Runyan, her first husband Viljo F. Paavilainen and sister-in-law Barbara Runyan.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 305 cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Interment will be at Warren cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Ruth M. Hough
(nee McNeil)
Ruth M. Hough (nee McNeil), 78, of North Chicago, IL passed away Thursday, June 13, 2002 at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, IL.
She was born on January 26, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI, to Frank and Clara (Bogt) McNeil.
Ruth was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Rose (Richard) Quigley of Waukegan, IL, Ruth Ringstrom of Waukegan, IL and Roberta (Steve) Rundall of Sandy, Utah; five grandchildren, Richard, Jeremiah, Ashley, Eric and Aaron; two sisters, Mary Sunlitis of Zion, IL and Clara (Roland) Harris of Round Lake, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; two brothers, Richard and Francis; and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 10 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 910 14th Street, North Chicago, IL with Father James E. Merold officiating. Interment private.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 17, 2002 from 5 to 8 PM at BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME, 313 Tenth St., North Chicago, IL, 60064.

Leroy Nordlund Sr.
Leroy Nordlund Sr., age 65 passed away Wednesday, June 12 at Condell Medical Center. A resident of Round Lake Beach he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus of Round Lake. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Waukegan Lodge #706. As a member of the Knights of Columbus he was a past Grand Knight, Navigator, and District Deputy.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Judy whom he married on September 16, 1961. His sons Leroy (Kris) Nordlund and Gregory (Denise) Nordlund. His daughter Roberta (Neal) Nicholas. Grandsons Gregory, Bradley, Matthew, and Sam. Brother-in-law Bobbi (Ray) Zuchel, Timothy (Crystal) Zeman and Ron Zeman. Mother-in-law Lois Zeman. He was preceded in death by his mother Katherine Nordlund and his father Roy Nordlund.
Friends are asked to meet the family at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 114 N. Lincoln, Round Lake, Illinois where the funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2002. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, Illinois. Friends of the family may visit Sunday, June 16 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Mirko Sabo
Mirko Sabo, 81, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2002 at the Lake Forest Hospital. He was born November 5, 1920 in Subotica, Yugoslavia and came to live in the United States in 1972. Mr. Sabo had been a Libertyville resident since 1974 and was the chief mechanic at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein for 15 years. He was also a former volunteer at the Rose Garden in Cook Park for the Libertyville-Mundelein Men's Garden Club.
Surviving are his wife Ana Sabo; daughter Stefica (Dusan) Matic; and grandchildren, Svetlana "Tanya" (Robert) Stahl and Aleksandra Matic, all of Libertyville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 17 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Interment will follow at The Most Holy Mother of God cemetery in Third Lake. Edwin M. Schroeder
Edwin M. Schroeder, age 87, resident and former Mayor of Grayslake passed away at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, June 11, 2002. As a decorated Army Veteran of World War II European Theater, he received a field commission. Retired attorney-at-law who began his career as an office boy at Zenith Radio Corporation where he retired as Corporate Secretary after 50 years. Very active in the community, his memberships include the American Legion #659 and Veterans of Foreign Wars #2245. He was a fifty year member of the Grayslake Lions Club where he served as president two separate times. He also served as Village of Grayslake Trustee for many years, but is best remembered for his twelve years as Mayor of Grayslake. As a public servant, he strived to improve the quality of life for the entire community.
He is survived by his loving wife Esther (nee: Frend), two sons Edwin Schroeder, Jr. and Evan (Judy) Schroeder, and one daughter Esther DiMatteo. Grandfather of Jessica, Michelle, Chad, William, Daniel, Charles, and James, and Great Grandfather of Four. He is also survived by two sisters Bernice Bartell and LaVerne Heelein, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Helen Schroeder, brothers Ralph and Walter, and by his sister Loretta.
Friends are asked to meet at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, where the funeral mass is scheduled for 11 AM Monday, June 17, 2002, with Rev. Fr. James Merrold as celebrant. Interment will follow at Avon Centre cemetery in Grayslake. Friends of the family are invited to the visitation which will be 5 to 9 PM, Sunday, June 16, 2002 at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake. Charles R. Spangenberg
Charles R. Spangenberg, 65, of Mundelein/Libertyville, died June 9, 2002 at Pebble Brook Rehabilitation Center in Lake Bluff. He was born March 9, 1937 in Minneapolis and had lived the last 20 years in the Mundelein and Libertyville area.
He is survived by his son Chuck of Montana and his former wife Maureen Shea of Arizona.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002 at MCMURROUGH CHAPEL, 101 Park Place, Libertyville.

William Glen Bush
William Glen Bush, 90, of North Chicago, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the Winchester House, Libertyville. He was born May 13, 1913 in Swede Home, Nebraska and grew up on a farm in Nebraska and later moved to Illinois and worked as a fireman in Galesburg, IL. After World War II he came to Great Lakes where he was a fireman until he retired in 1973, attaining the rank of Captain. He was also a member of Queen of Peace Church, North Chicago. Bill enjoyed driving for the seniors of North Chicago and also volunteered for the North Chicago Fire Department.
Bill is survived by his step son, Henry "Hank" (Terry) Moss of Grayslake and step daughter, Delores Moss of Mesa, AZ and his children, James Bush, Martha Blocker, Glenda Lafrenz and Beverly Simms. A close granddaughter Kay (Michael) Kenny and family of Chicago, IL, three step grandchildren, Cindy (Frank) Schwab, Kevin (Robin) Moss and Marie Adolphs; six step great grandchildren; and a brother Delbert Bush of Peoria, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (nee Stolarick) on January 19, 1996, his parents Glen and Martha and three brothers, Merle, Marvin and John.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at THE SALATA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 729-14th St., North Chicago, IL with Rev. James E. Merold officiating. Burial will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville, IL.

Jimmie Hughes
Jimmie Hughes, 86, of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital. He was born on August 30, 1916 in Leighton, Alabama, the son of the late Sam and Martha (Madden) Hughes Sr. He was retired from Abbott Laboratories and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bessie of Waukegan; four sons, Jimmie Hughes Jr. of Leighton, Alabama, Langston (Rosa) Hughes, Melvin Hughes and Reginald Hughes of Waukegan; four daughters, Jacqueline Bailey, Yvonne Hughes, Sophronia Sharples and Vanessa (David) Santiago all of Waukegan; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; one brother, James Hughes of Leighton, Alabama; two sisters, Bessie Yarbrough of Waukegan and Mary Hughes of Leighton, Alabama; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorenza Boyd; three brothers, Sam Hughes, Jessie Hughes and Earles Short; four sisters, Sarah Lee Jones, Annie Bee Fowler, Rozelia Hughes and Mattie Lou Brown.

Bonnie Mobley
Bonnie (Deavult) Mobley (nee Albright), age 72, a longtime resident of Fox Lake formerly of Springfield, IL succumbed to her valiant 3 year battle against cancer on Thursday June 12, 2003 at home. She was born on February 2, 1931 in Springfield, IL to Harry H. and Maude L. (nee Locker) Albright, and had been employed with Sara Lee in Deerfield, IL for 25 years before retiring in 1968. She enjoyed playing bingo at the Fox Lake Lions Club, the Fox Lake American Legion and the Fox Lake Fire Station on Washington St.
Survivors include her husband James Mobley of Fox Lake with whom she was united with in marriage in Ingleside, IL in 1970; her children Larry Deavult of Antioch, IL, Sandra (Ronald) Timmerhoff of Gages Lake, IL, and Jeanine (John) Martin of Richland, Michigan; her grandchildren Lee H. Martin of Richland, Michigan, and Tiffany and Eric Timmerhoff, both of Gages Lake, IL; one brother Harley D. Albright of Springfield, IL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Van L. Deavult, and by her sisters, Theresa Gabriel, Berniece Albright, and Linda Smith.
Friends of the family may call on Monday June 16, 2003 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the K.K. HAMSHER FUNERAL HOME, 12 N. Clennon E. Moore
Clennon E. Moore, 51, of Waukegan, IL passed away on Thursday June 5, 2003 at home. He was born in Pineville, Louisiana in 1952 to Robert Lee and Cordia Moore. He was a graduate from Mary Graham High in Colfax, Louisiana. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. In 1988 he was united in marriage to Darlene Moore.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Darlene Moore; two stepsons, Jauaka Starkey and Donte Bridgeman both of Waukegan; his mother, Cordia Moore of Colfax, LA; five brothers, Robert (Sally Ann) Moore Jr., Henry E., Leotis, Henry V. Moore and Johnell (Sheila) Moore; four sisters, Pat (Edward) McDough, Glendora (Joe) Colsen, Doris Moore and Jennifer (Jimmy Ray) Small; four brothers-in-law, Robert Moore Jr. of Flint, MI, James (Debra) Moore, Steven, Kevin Moore all of Waukegan; three sisters-in-law, Mary Hunt of Atlanta, GA, Doris C. Moore and Kim (Eric) Pierce both of Waukegan; 19 nephews; 23 nieces; and two special cousins, Galvester Jones and Dianna Moore. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Moore; and a mother-in-law, Katie Moore.

Donald L. Stateler
Donald L. Stateler, 73, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Wednesday June 11, 2003 at the Condell Medical Center. He was born December 16, 1929 in Manitowoc, WI, was raised in Waukegan and has lived in Libertyville since 1961. He was a 1947 graduate of Waukegan High School, later becoming a meteorologist in the U.S. Air Force. Don was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Libertyville and retired in 1992 after 35 years in labor relations with Illinois Bell in Chicago.
He was the beloved husband of 52 years of Dolores "Dee" (nee Horning) Stateler; loving father of Donald "Rock" Stateler of Waukegan and Debbie (Bob) Bernsee of Libertyville; loving grandfather of Mark Stateler, Aubrey, Shannon and Andrew Bernsee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruby Stateler.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 14 at the Evangelical Free Church, Austin and Garfield Avenues, Libertyville. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the church. A graveside service for his family will be held on Friday at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago. Elsie Thompson
Elsie Thompson, 87, of North Chicago, Illinois passed away Friday, June 13, 2003 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL after a long illness.
She was born July 31, 1915 in Waukegan, IL and remained a life-long area resident.
Elsie is survived by her only son, Edward (Gail) Thompson of Palo Alto, California; and three granddaughters, Michele Thompson and her husband Jeff Holifield of CA, Melinda Thompson and Holly (Todd) Thompson of CA; also three great grandchildren, Kenya, Thompson and Laila. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis (Ed) Thompson.
Private services will be held in California. Arrangements were entrusted to the SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME. 847-244-1155.

Eugene P. Zannini
Eugene P. Zannini, 87, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and formerly of Waukegan and Antioch, passed away on Monday June 9, 2003. He was born February 26, 1916 in Chicago, IL and came to Waukegan in 1936, later moving to Antioch. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan and St Peters Church in Antioch. He had also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Ducks Unlimited, Antioch Rotary Club and Lions Club. His family had operated the Chateau Restaurant in Waukegan for many years, he later operated Webb's Boat Marina in Antioch until moving to Idaho in 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen (nee Keller); children, Teddy (Lonny) Marchant of Alexandria, VA, Bobby Pelfrey of Fairview Heights, IL, Cathie (Fred) Carruba of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Jeanne Norton of Lindenhurst, IL, Julie (John) Ukich of Hayden Lakes, ID, Joellen (Jim) Kasten of Minneapolis, MN and Butch (Julie) Zannini of Grand Rapids, MI; 24 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren, his brother, Dr. John Zannini of Lake Forest, IL and sister, Mary (Lawrence "Monk") Ferry of Waukegan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Clementina (nee Pardi) Zannini.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday June 17, 2003 at Immaculate Conception Church, Grand Ave. and West St. Waukegan. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Friends may call at PETERSON-PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday. In lieu of flowers donations, in Eugene Zannini's memory, may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Parker Comiskey Butenschoen
Parker Comiskey Butenschoen. Daddy's little buddy and Mama's little dude, went to play baseball with the angels on Tuesday, June 15, 2004. Parker brought joy and happiness into the lives of everyone who knew him, and will never be forgotten. Parker, we love you so much, and thank you for all of the blessings you've given us.
Parker is survived by his daddy, D.J.; his mama, Ryan; his sister, Deighton; his unborn brother or sister; Sebastian the cat; great-grandpa, "Bud" Olsen and great-grandma, Peg Butenschoen; grandparents, Carl and Cathy Dunfrund and Dennis Sr. and Pam Butenschoen; aunts, Carrie, Amber, Rebecca, and Melissa; uncles, Carl, Colin, Alex, Duane, and Jeff; cousins, Justin, Cole, Bri, and Evan; friends, Brenda and Jennifer.

Mary Garmen Fingers
Mary Lena (Garmen) Fingers, the daughter of Patsy and Henry Garmen, was born in Hermanville, Mississippi on February 5, 1923. Mary left this life on May 23, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois.
Mary was one of five children and was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, Thomas; as well as the following siblings, Henry Garmen Jr., Elizabeth Davis, Mable Phelps and Ruby McClure. Also preceding Mary in death were a much loved brother-in-law, Eugene Phelps; and a nephew, Milton Phelps, both of North Chicago, Illinois.
In 1954, Mary married Thomas Edward Fingers of Little Rock, Arkansas. From this union, they had a son, Charles Edwin (Alice) Fingers, of North Riverside, Illinois, who survives. Mary and Thomas Fingers resided in North Chicago, Illinois until Thomas' death in 1979. Mary remained a North Chicago resident until 1998, when she moved to an assisted living facility in Chicago, Illinois, due to her declining health.
Left to mourn the passing of Mary G. Fingers is one sister, Cora Ruth ("Little Ruth") Smith-Walker, of Port Gibson, Mississippi; eight nieces, LeFlora (Finch) Pettis, Fannie Thompson and Wanda (Joe) Biel, all of North Chicago, Illinois, Lula (Charlie) Buck, of Fort Gibson, Mississippi, Billie Jean Sangster of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ernistine McClure of Palmdale, CA, Gloria McClure of Lancaster, CA and Anna Lee Coleman of Denver, CO. A nephew, Robert Lee of Little Rock, CA, also survives. In addition, Ms. Fingers leaves a host of nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, to mourn her passing.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Bradshaw and Range Funeral Home, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family of Mary G.
