Frank A. White
Frank A. White, 87, a recent resident of Libertyville, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at the Winchester House in Libertyville. He was born April 2, 1916 in Chicago, where he lived until moving to Lindenhurst in 1976. He and his wife were residents of Maravilla in Vernon Hills since 2001. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European Theatre during World War II and was a member of the Park Ridge VFW Post. Before his retirement, Frank was employed by the Karr Brothers Painting and Decorating Co. and was a member of the Painter's Union in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife Muriel (nee Claussen) White; one son, John (Linda) White and grandsons, Erick and Gregory White, all of Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Esther White and by his sister Irene Kordig.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 15 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville, with the Rev. Chris Fox officiating. Interment will be in Oakridge cemetery in Hillside. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services on Saturday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Winchester House in his memory. .
Michael John Aksland
Michael J. Aksland went to be with the Lord November 5, 2004 in Mesa, Arizona.
Survived by his parents, Rudolph and Beverly Aksland, brothers, Jeffrey and David Aksland, and wife Sherill, nephews Erik, Chris and Alex, Aksland.
Memorial Services will be held Sunday, November 21, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Evangelical Church of Highland Park, located at 1713 Green Bay Rd.

Dorothy Bergling (nee Gargalla)
Dorothy Bergling (nee Gargalla) died suddenly on October 22 at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. Dorothy, a lifelong resident of Waukegan, was born on February 22, 1917. She attended Waukegan Township High School and had been a member of St. Demetrius Greek Orthodox Church.
Dorothy had worked at various places over the years, including Abbotts and Decoral. Her hobbies included gardening and decorating.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Chris Gargalla of Waukegan as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, especially Judy Z. and Russ J.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bror (William) Bergling, a musician; she was also preceded in death by her parents, Vasil and Edith Gargalla; her sisters, Olga Gargalla Brost and Helen Gargalla Iskalis; her brother, Pete Gargalla all of Waukegan.
There was no visitation. Marsh Funeral Home, Waukegan handled arrangements.
A remembrance service will be held this Saturday, November 13, at Dorothy's residence at 809 Fulton Avenue, Waukegan. All friends, family and neighbors are cordially invited to attend as Dorothy's life is remembered. Coffee and hospitality will follow the the service from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please join us.
Eugene "Zane" Brofka
Eugene "Zane" Brofka, 74, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2004 in Austin, Texas, just two short weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Born December 14, 1929, Gene was a longtime resident of North Chicago, Waukegan and Gurnee, IL.
After graduating from Waukegan High School in 1949, Gene served in Germany in the US Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. On June 16, 1956, he married
the most beautiful woman in the world and the love of his life, Anna Elaine Bagdonas, with whom he had three children, Wayne, Dale and Cheryl. He was employed as a Cost Accountant with U.S. Steel Corp. for 29 years and was very active in Local 1115, serving as Union President for many years. In 1981, he and Elaine relocated to a beautiful home in the hill country of Austin, Texas.
Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine on July 29, 1982, as the result of a tragic car accident. A loss from which he never fully recovered. God tested him again with the very sudden passing of his daughter-in-law, Sally Anderson in December 1996; and devoted son, Dale in December 2000.
He is survived by his son, Wayne A. Brofka of Kenosha, WI; his daughter, Cheryl (Monte) Nennig and their children, Robin, Katie, Jillian and Dylan, all of Spring, Texas. He is also mourned by a host of wonderful family, friends and neighbors, whom he loved dearly. Gene will be remembered as a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, and a kind and generous friend. And those who knew him best will recall a "stubborn" man with strong opinions, a fine sense of humor and a heart of gold. His many hobbies included lively political discussions, fishing, photography, wine making and gardening.
Gene has been cremated and his remains will be interred next to those of his beloved Elaine, in Spring, Texas.....Together at last. Rest in peace Daddy.
Virgil A. Chakeen
Virgil A. Chakeen, 89, of Libertyville, IL died November 9, 2004 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was born August 2, 1915 in Chicago and lived most of his life in Libertyville.
Mr. Chakeen had retired from International Harvester of Libertyville and was a graduate of Libertyville High School.
During World War II he had served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3674.
He is survived by his sister, Lee Schuler; his brother, Martin (Marie) Chakeen; his nephew, Phillip (Debbie) Charapata; his great nephews and niece, Christopher, Chad, Cody and Curtis Charapata and Chushaunna (Patrick) Tayfell; along with his great great nephews, Kyle and Austin Tayfell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita in March of this year.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2004 at St. Joseph Church 121 East Maple St., Libertyville. Interment will be at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights.
Funeral arrangements are by McMurrough Chapel, Libertyville.
Kathleen E. Davis
Kathleen E. Davis, 55, of Lindenhurst, IL passed away at St. Therese Medical Center on Friday, November 12, 2004.
She was born in Libertyville, IL on January 30, 1949, the daughter of Marlon (nee Kelsler) and the late Glen Knigge. She was a resident of Lindenhurst since 1972 and was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Lindenhurst, where she had been involved with the Church's Youth Group. She was a retired civil servant, having served at Great Lakes Naval Base, North Chicago. She was a former leader of the Girl Scouts and enjoyed baking and sewing. Her sewing ability excelled and she frequently made wedding dresses for many brides.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry. They were married
on February 21, 1970. Her daughter, Leah; her mother, Marion Knigge of Reedsburg, WI; her brother, Richard (Judy) Knigge of Wauconda, IL; and sister, Carole Eberhardt of Elgin, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glen.
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1822 E. Grand Ave. Lindenhurst, IL, with Rev. Terry Breum, officiating. Interment will be at Millburn cemetery, Old Mill Creek, IL. Visitation will be on Monday, 408 p.m. at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (Rte. 83), Lake Villa, IL 60046. (2 Blks. David N. Dukowitz
David N. Dukowitz, 84, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Pavilion of Waukegan. He was born June 6, 1920 in Swan River, Minnesota, came to Winthrop Harbor 40 years ago and has lived in Zion at Carmel House for the past three years. He retired in 1983 from Kenosha Auto Transport and he was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his children, Roderick (Patsy) Dukowitz of Gurnee, Cynthia (Dennis) Parry of Beach Park, Linda (Michael) Anhock of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Karen (Shawn) Sloan of Beach Park and Daniel Dukowitz of Park City, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Cherish (Phillip) Gillett, Roderick (Kelli) Dukowitz II, David Dukowitz, Andrea and Ashleigh Parry, Jason (Tina) Anhock, Jeffrey and Lindsey Anhock and Alyssa and Hailey Sloan; two brothers, Cliff and Donny; and three sisters, Leona, Sylvia and Genevieve. He was preceded in death by his wife LaDine in 1982; a great granddaughter, Kayla Gillett; and his parents, Albert and Pauline Dukowitz.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 7 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Pastor Dennis Kelly of Trinity Lutheran Church of Waukegan officiating. Lee England
Lee England departed this life November 6, 2004.
He was born March 7, 1948 to Joseph and Grace England in Jackson, Mississippi. He resided in Waukegan, IL for 30 years before moving to Trevor, Wisconsin. He graduated from Brinkley High School in Jackson, Mississippi and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed with the Waukegan Public Schools for over 20 years at various schools including McCall, Clark, Clearview and Lincoln Center.
He was a member of Greater Faith Baptist, Waukegan, IL. He was a member of the Usher Board having served as a part president and also a member of the Twin City Ushers. After moving to Trevor he attended Grace Valley Bible Church.
He is survived by his sons, Lee and Lance England of Waukegan, IL; his former wife, Sylvia England, Waukegan, IL; his step-daughter, Tonya (Todd) Patterson of Evanston, IL; his step-son, Danny Anton Davis of Colombus, Georgia; his mother, Grace England of Jackson, Mississippi; his brother, Joseph England, Jr. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his two sisters, Deborah A. England of Waukegan, IL; and Sherry (Allen) Burton-Brown of Jackson, Mississippi; and one uncle, Robert Grant of Jackson, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Devin, David and Drew Patterson of Evanston, IL; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and special friend, Cindy Kough.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph England; and his daughter, Kasey Brooks; and his granddaughter, Alannah Brooks.

Pauline A. Fredenburg (Nee Puhl)
Pauline Anna Fredenburg, 91, of Waukegan, IL, formerly of Phoenix, AZ departed this life on November 10, 2004. She was born on February 28, 1913 to John and Anna (nee Dornes) Puhl of Topeka, KS. Pauline was a member of St. Dismas Church, a former member of Saints Simon & Jude Cathedral, Phoenix, AZ, and a loving supporter of many charities.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, James Fredenburg of Waukegan, IL; grandchildren, Jeffrey Fredenburg and family of Thornton, CO, Scott Fredenburg of Boulder, CO, Mark Fredenburg of Morrisville, PA, Janine (Kevin) Pilman of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Laura (Steven) Stankovitch of Waukegan, IL; great grandchildren, Carey and Ryan Pilman; two sisters, Frances (Merle) Stueber of Oshkosh, WI, Barbara Hearn of Oshkosh, WI; a brother, Raymond (Dolores) Puhl of Woodside, NY; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Jerome Fredenburg; her brothers, Al, Jacob, Adam, John, and Peter Puhl; a sister, Anna Towle; and a daughter-in-law, Jeannine Fredenburg.

Carol Ann Kick (nee Sibley)
Carol Ann Kick, (nee Sibley), 61, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at her home. She was born August 5, 1943 in Libertyville where she was a 1961 graduate of Libertyville High School. For over 23 years, Carol worked at Westmoreland OB/GYN in Lake Forest with her "second family" of Doctors and co-workers, who gave her loving support during her illness.
Carol married
Wayne Kick on April 28, 1962 and was the mother of two children. Dean (Judy Piarulli) Kick of Oak Creek, WI and Cindy (Dan) Harris of Libertyville; loving grandmother of Ryan and Sarah Kick and Jacob Harris; and cherished daughter of Phyllis (nee Erickson) Sibley of Libertyville. Dear sister of Diana (George) Capaul of Grayslake.
For over 23 years, Carol worked at Westmoreland OB-GYN in Lake Forest with her "second family" of Doctors and co-workers, who gave her loving support during her illness.
She was preceded in death by her father Calvin Sibley in 1985.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday November 15 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville, with the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Davis, officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Herman J. Lenzen
Herman J. Lenzen, age 81, formerly of Grayslake, passed away after a lingering illness on November 9, 2004 at the Veterans Hospital Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. He was born in Grayslake on September 14, 1923 to Michael and Eva Lenzen. Herman worked for Schwinn Bicycle Co. locally for many years, and more recently, owned and operated a bicycle shop in Tucson. He served for the U.S. Army during WWII, European Theater of Operations.
Surviving Herman are his sisters: Phyllis (Tom) Neargarder of Round Lake, Antoinette Reimers of Round Lake, Frances (the late Tom) Riley of Waukegan, his sisters-in-law, Claudia Lenzen of Phoenix, AZ, and Marcella Lenzen of Grayslake, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Lenzen, in February of 2003, brothers Roman (the late Anna), Jean, and Jerome Lenzen, and aforementioned parents.
Inurnment will be privately held at the Veteran's cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to their charity of choice.
