Viola A. Trusky
Viola A. Trusky, age 86, of Waukegan died on November 10, 2001 at Zolling Hills Manor. She was born on January 18, 1915 in Waukegan, IL.
She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at Victory Memorial Hospital, Cub Scout Den Mother, First President of the PTA at Lyon Elementary School, Instrumental in the establishment of Lyon School, very active in the Waukegan Grade School Band Parents Association, worked in the kitchen at Thomas Jefferson Jr. High School, worked as a beautician for 45 years in the Waukegan area in numerous shops, member of the Aitar and Rosary Society at Immaculate Conception Church.
She is survived by her three sons, Frank Jr. (Betty) , Dale (Marie) and Ray (Sandi); eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Trusky of 65 years of marriage; her parents, Charles and Anna Carlson; and two brothers, Carl and Elmer Carlson.
Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 624 Douglas Ave., Waukegan, IL. Burial will take place in Ascension cemetery. Donald L. Verne
Donald L. Verne, 92, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago. He was born March 20, 1909 in Huron, Ohio. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waukegan. Donald was the past commander of American Legion Post 281, past commander of VFW Post 1293, a member of La Societe Des 40/8 Voyager 604, a member of the DAV and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Verne of Waukegan, LeRoy (Connie) Verne of Waukegan, Katherine Topel of Casa Grande, AZ, Laura (Kent) Beck of Oconto, WI, daughter-in-law, Jackie Verne of Waukegan, 13 grandchildren and 23 great-granddchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, Donald, Ronald and Robert, great-granddaughter, Jennifer M. Zickovich, his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 15, 2001 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL. Interment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Thursday only at the Funeral Home.
Leona Alexander
Leona Alexander, 84, of Wintrop Harbor, Illinois died November 9, 2001 in Zion, Illinois.
Leona was born February 21, 1917 in Brussels, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Joseph and Augusta Mohr, and moved at an early age to Libertyville, Illinois. her late husband, Frank Alexander had worked for Lakefield Farms in Grayslake where they were members of St. Mary;s Church in Premont Center. They moved to Winthrop Harbor 20 years ago and became members of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park.
Leona is survived by two children, Al (Barb) Alexander of Winthrop Harbor and Elaine Christiansen of Olive Branch, Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Ray (Dar) Christiansen, Barbara (Tom) Maurer, Deb (Scott) Stewart, Tina Christiansen, Michelle Alexander, Michael Alexander and Katherine (B.J.) Braden; eleven great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and a sister, Viola Serahn of Algoma, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Christiansen; and two brothers, Joe Jr. and Ray.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park. Entombment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church. Memorials to St. Jude's Hospital for research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 would be appreciated in her memory. Ione C. Furlan, 69, of Libertyville died November 9, 2001 at Condell Medical Center.
She was born May 28, 1932 in North Chicago, Illinois and was a member of St. Dismas Catholic Church and Waukegan Yacht Club.
Survived by her husband, Frank J. of Libertyville; two daughters, Karen (Aaron) Akaka of Kaneohe, Hawaii and Diane (Patrick) Bleck of Libertyville; Three grandchildren, Chris and Kim Bleck, Kalei Akaka; one brother, Bernard Walenter of California.

Danica Ilic
Danica Ilic, 89, of Berwyn, IL, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001 at the Mac Neal Hospital in Berwyn. She was born July 22, 1912 in Yugoslavia and came to live in the United States in 1969. She had been a Milwaukee, WI resident for 30 years, living in Berwyn this past year.
Surviving are two nieces, Biljana (Dobrivoje) Stojkovic of Berwyn and Olga Ilic and her nephew Zika Ilic, both living in Yugoslavia. She was preceded in death by her brother Vidosav Ilic.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Libertyville. Interment will be in the Monastery cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville, where Pomen services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening.
Verna A. Knox (nee Krueger)
Verna A. Knox (nee Krueger), 91, died on November 9, 2001. Verna was born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1910, the daughter of William and Minnie Krueger. Verna married
Alfred H. Knox on June 26, 1929 at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Waukegan. She lived in and around Waukegan until 1984 when she and husband, Alfred, who had retired from farming, moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas. They subsequently moved to Williamsville, Illinois in 1987.
Verna is survived by her children, June K. Mackey of Waukegan, Ruth (Gene) Lunsford of Pampa, Texas and David (Gladys) Knox of Williamsville, Illinois. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Viola Borkenhagen of Lindenhurst, IL and Willette Holexa of Palo Cedro, California.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred in 1988; a son, Jim in 1977; her parents and one sister.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mott and Henning of Athens, Illinois and the GURNEE FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE. Services will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ at 1520 McAree Road, Waukegan, IL on Tuesday, November 13 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation at the church preceding the service at 9:30 A.M.

Paul Svendsen
Paul Svendsen, 78, of Libertyville, died Saturday, November 10, 2001 in Libertyville while playing golf. A game he dearly loved.
He was born July 6, 1923 in Peterson, Iowa and had been a resident of the Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Libertyville area for many years.
He was the founder and former owner of D.P.S., Inc. of Waukegan a data processing company that he sold in 1975.Mr. Svendsen was a graduate of Northwestern University where he attended on an EVAN Scholarship.
During WWII he served as commander aboard a Navy LSM-20. Lieutenant Svendsen was one of five to survive the attack on his ship by a Japanese Kamikaze.
Now retired Mr. Svendsen served as a Range Officer at Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein.
He is survived by his wife Laura, his children, Larry (Gail) Svendsen of Grayslake, Joan (Jesse) Gutierrez of Joliet and Steven (Gilliam) Svendsen of Lake Bluff, and his grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen, Andrew and Sara Svendsen and Daniel and Jay Gutierrez.
Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at St. Joseph Church, 121 East Maple, Libertyville. There will be no public visitation. If desired memorial donations are requested to be directed to St. Joseph Church Endowment Fund, 121 East Maple Street, Libertyville, IL 60048 in Mr. Svendsen's honor.

Frances R. Tomasik
Frances R. Tomasik, 87 years old of Antioch, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001 at Pebblebrook Nursing and Rehab Centre in Lake Bluff, IL. She was born March 7, 1914 in Chicago, the daughter of the late John and Angela (Lesniak) Labno.
She had lived in Cicero before moving to Felters Subdivision of Lake Catherine in Antioch in 1970. Mrs. Tomasik was a member of St. Peter Church, Council of Catholic Women, and was a dedicated volunteer for the church. She was also a member of the Antioch Senior Center and the AARP. In her earlier years she worked at Regal China as a painter and her special interests included knitting and crocheting. On September 14, 1935 she married
William Tomasik in Chicago and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1990.
Survivors include one son, William (Betty) of Itasca, IL; two grandchildren, William (Nora) and Allen (Tina) and three great grandchildren, Natalie, Nicole and Karleigh.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, Stanley, Henry, Casimer and one sister, Helen.
Funeral services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10;00 A.M. Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch, IL. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Antioch. Alfred G. Andrea
Alfred G. Andrea, age 82, of Kenosha, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Brookside Care Center of Alzheimer's Disease.
Born October 31, 1921 in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Jack and Theresa (Lucchetti) Andrea.
A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School, McKinley Jr. High School and was a graduate of Kenosha High School. He then graduated from Northwestern University School of Business Administration. He did post-graduate work in theology and philosophy at St. Johns University in Collegeville, MN, which served as a foundation for his passion for Catholic Education.
From April 10, 1943 until February 16, 1946, he served with the United States Army Air Corp as a radar instructor.
On February 26, 1949 at St. James Catholic Church, he married
Anne Isermann.
Following his education, he returned to Kenosha to join his father in the family business "Jack Andreas". He was instrumental in developing the business from soda fountain and confectionary shop, into a nationally recognized gift shop, cafe and tobacco shop, retiring as President of Andrea's, Inc.
He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Kenosha Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Board of Directors for the Kenosha Chamber of Commerce and the Kenosha County Historical Society. He was an active board member and past president of several national trade organizations including: The Gift Association of America, Retail Tobacco Dealers of America, and The Tobacconists Association of America. For over 30 years, he was the leader of the annual "Allendale" Children's Fourth of July Parade, which started in front of his home. He had a tremendous love of Kenosha and promoted the City and its industries with a great enthusiasm. His passion in life was his family and his work.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Andrea of Kenosha; a son, David C. Andrea of Kenosha; six daughters, Mary Pat (Christopher Swift) Andrea of Baltimore, MD, Jane Andrea (Scott) Bruss of Kenosha, Catherine (Paul) Preziosi of Baltimore, MD, Susan (Terry Schlenker) Andrea of Kenosha, Caroline (Andrew) Vaaler and Ann (Jeffrey) Meyer, both of Minneapolis, MN; four sisters, Philomena Andrea of Kenosha, Rita (Randolph) Noel of Indianapolis, IN, Virginia (Harry) Ciaciura of Wisconsin Rapids, and Theresa (David O.) Crewe of Kenosha; and seven grandchildren.
Preceding him also in death was a son, John Mark Andrea on November 14, 1959; and two brothers, Edward and Matthew Andrea.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7117-14th Avenue, Kenosha. Private interment will be held in St. James cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720-39th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53144. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to St. Joseph's High School or St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
Kenneth L. Biarnesen
Kenneth L. Biarnesen, 68, of Wadsworth, IL, passed away on November 9, 2003 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL.
Born December 9, 1934 in Chicago, he was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Wadsworth, the AARP, the St. Patrick's Shamrock's and the Moose Lodge of Riverview, Florida.
He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the United States Navy and he retired from Fansteel Corp. in 1990 after 35 years as a Production Foreman.
Ken was a devoted family man and thoroughly enjoyed being with his family. He was an avid walleye fisherman and golfer, and made two hole in ones the same year.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Denise (Nee Downie); three children, Dawn (Bob) Deason of Grayslake, Bobbi (Jim) Siver of Kenosha, WI, and Mike (Vicki) Biarnesen of Gurnee; eight grandchildren, Andy Siver, Danielle Siver, Robert Deason, Kevin Siver, Mark Deason, Caitlin Biarnesen, Christian Biarnesen, and Katie Deason; and one great granddaughter, Kayla Mae Siver; two brothers, Neal Biarnesen of Antioch, IL, and Gary (Judy) Biarnesen of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Sue (Hank) Krapf of Beach Park; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, Marty and Eleanor Biarnesen.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 13, 2003 at St. Patrick's Church, 15000 Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth. Cremation will follow the service at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Road and 8:30-9:30 AM Thursday prior to leaving for church.
