Leo V. Cioni, 86, of Highland Park passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at his home. Born April 8, 1918 in Cherry, Illinois he has been a resident of Highland Park for 65 years. He married
Dorothy Mahen on March 23, 1940 at St. James Church, Highwood and has been happily married
for 64 years. He was a retired marketing supervisor for Commonwealth Edison and was a member of St. James Church, Highwood.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four children, Tim Cioni of Minneapolis, MN, Lee (Jack) Jashelski of Deerfield, Susie (Terry) Hasek of Lake Forest and John (Luana) Cioni of Highwood; six grandchildren, Tom (Tanya) Cioni of Green Bay, WI, Becky Cioni of Minneapolis, MN, Stacey (Matt) Gordon of Denver, CO, Chad (Jen) Jashelski of Chicago, Michael Cioni of Highwood and Anne Cioni of Highwood; two great grandchildren, Riley and Jordan Cioni; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ollie Ahrens.

Sandra J. Greenland
Sandra J. Greenland, age 60, of Grayslake, IL, died November 3, 2004 at Highland Park Hospital. She was born February 21, 1944 in Portland, Maine.
She was a member of the Waukegan Yacht Club and an RN at Highland Park Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, John W. Greenland; a daughter, Deborah Karwath; a son, Scott Conrad; two stepdaughters, Karen and Holly Greenland; a stepson, John (Angela) Greenland, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Madeline and Robby Karwath.

Sarah L. Harris
Sarah L. Harris, age 97, of North Chicago, IL departed her earthly life on November 2, 2004 at the Terrace Nursing Home, Waukegan, IL. She was born in Florence, AL on July 20, 1907.
Mrs. Harris was the oldest member of First Baptist Church, North Chicago, IL, where she sang in the choir under Pastor E.J. Coles. Sarah loved the Lord and it showed in her quiet demeanor, which will always be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Russell L. Harris; a daughter, Norma Jean Harris; a grandson, Michael (Michelle) Harris; a great-grandson, Brandon Harris; a sister, Geneieve Rockingham, all of North Chicago; her faithful companion, "Reno" and many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Harris; five sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 2219 14th Street, North Chicago, IL. Rev. Mr. B. Ellis Jarrett

Mr. B. Ellis Jarrett was born May 20, 1943 in Marvell, Arkansas to the late Mr. Evanders and Essie B. Jarrett. He departed this life on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Midwestern Hospital in Zion, IL. He accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church of Coffee Creek.
He moved to Waukegan in 1963, where he met and married
his wife, Nettie (Jean) Borden of Talladega, Alabama in 1977. He united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was an active member. B. Ellis as he was often called was known for his humor.
He was employed at John Mansville for over 30 years. He was currently employed with the Waukegan School District as a School Crossing Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Nettie (Jean) Jarrett; five sisters, Gloria (Clarence) Rogers of Marvell, Arkansas, Erma Jean (David) Hammons of Detroit, Michigan, Queen Esther (Charles) Combs of Evanston, Illinois, Brenda Faye (Tony) Adams of Little Rock, Arkansas and Jewelene (Charles) Ingram of Beach Park, Illinois; five brothers, Otis Jarrett of Marvell, Arkansas, Joshua (Gwendolyn) Jarrett of San Antonio, Texas, Calvin (Loretta) Jarrett Sr. of Marvell, Arkansas and Marvin (Joy) Jarrett of Aiea, Hawaii; and a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Evanders Jarrett in 2002 and Essie B. Jarrett in 1989; and two sisters, Larise Jarrett in 1958 and Verna Ware in 2001.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 6, 2004 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 409 Wainlow Ave, Waukegan, IL with Pastor Arthur J. Gass Sr. officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Visitation is at 12:00 Noon until time of services at the church.

Anton Macrowski
Anton Macrowski, 97, former mayor of North Chicago, died November 1, 2004 in Homosassa, FL.
He was born in North Chicago on May 12, 1907 and lived there until moving to Florida in 1977.
His interest in politics began with his election as Democratic Party Precinct Committeeman, in 1935, he was elected Alderman, the he was called into military service, having served in the Army. After his extended and extensive military service, he was discharged from the military service in 1945, returning to North Chicago to resume his unexpired aldermanic term. In 1947 he was elected mayor of North Chicago and was mayor for 12 years, retiring in 1959.
In 1961, he was appointed by President John F. Kennedy as North Chicago Postmaster. He retired from the Postal Service in 1971.
Anton was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Homosassa, The Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council #731, American Legion Post #7081, Polish Legion of American Veterans Post #25.
Survivors include two daughters, Joane McAndrews of McHenry, IL and Elaine (Jerry) Snider of Homosassa, FL; a son-in-law, Bernard Prais of Lake Forest, IL; three sisters, Helen Cannon of Portland, OR, Wanda Orr of Ontario, CA and Tillie Barler of Homosassa, FL; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Prais.
Chapel services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL.

Betty Maynard
Betty Maynard, 82, of Zion, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at United Hospital in Kenosha.
Betty was born May 8, 1922 in Zion and she was an honor graduate of Carthage College in Kenosha. She retired in 1986, after 36 years of teaching first grade in the Zion Elementary School District #6. She had a deep love for children of that age and enjoyed teaching them to read and write. Betty was also a long time member of Christian Catholic Church, now Christ Community Church, where she served in the Handbell Choir for 17 years and played piano for Wednesday night prayer meeting. The church, it's activities and it's people remained a very important part of Betty's life.
As a pianist, she was a graduate of Zion Conservatory of Music and she enjoyed classical music, often playing duets with her friend Mary. Other hobbies and interests she enjoyed were embroidery, sewing and cooking.
Survivors include her children, Suzi (Kip) Evans of Grayslake, Debbie (Bob) Clement of Zion, Ted (Laura) Maynard of Knoxville, TN and Connie (Tony) Steinke of Winthrop Harbor; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Amber, and Kurt Clement and Ashley Steinke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, who passed away just two weeks ago; two brothers, Bobby and Burton; and her parents, Harold and Ethel Lee.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2004 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be private for the family, with interment at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.

Arlene J. McIntosh (nee Cholewa)
Arlene J. McIntosh (nee Cholewa), 57, a resident of Downers Grove, IL for the past three years, formerly from Woodridge, IL, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004 following an automobile accident. She was born November 8, 1946 to Ted and Sophie (nee Suwinski) Cholewa in Chicago, IL, and had been employed as a purchasing agent for Newly Wed Foods in Bedford Park, IL for 13 years. She enjoyed photography, exercise, spending time on the computer and her family.
Survivors include her husband, George McIntosh of Downers Grove, IL; her mother, Sophie Cholewa of Spring Grove, IL; her sister, Alice (Richard) Sturgeon of Spring Grove, IL; her twin sister, Marlene (Bernard) Kochevar of Henderson, Nevada; a great niece, Alexandria Davis of Henderson, Nevada; five brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1985.

Zebedee "Tracy" Pierson III, 40, of Zion, IL passed away on Monday, November 1, 2004 at John's Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was born May 23, 1964 in Waukegan, IL at St. Therese Hospital to the late Zebedee Pierson Jr. and Audrey Pierson.
Zebedee "Tracy" Pierson III accepted Christ and was baptized at Christian Valley Baptist Church in North Chicago, IL.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Nichelle Pierson; three children, Antwinique D. Walker-Pierson, Zebedee T. Pierson II and Ebonee C. Pierson; four siblings, Michael Pierson, Cheri L. Pierson-White (Stanley), Nichelle G. Gilling (Mark), Troy Pierson; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Zebedee Pierson, Jr.

Henrene Tolbert, age 65, of Waukegan, IL passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2004 in Waukegan, IL. She was born July 25, 1939 in West Helena, AR.
She was a Member of Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Waukegan, IL.
She is survived by her children, Tracy Wooten, Latasha Wooten, Regina Blair, Cedric Hampton and Gregory Wooten; three grandchildren and one great grandchild; siblings, Henry Harrell II, Cleveland Harrell, Samuel Harrell and Elizabeth Johnson; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leona Harrell; and her sister, Erma Johnson.

Hollis Leroy Austin
Hollis Leroy Austin "Lee", 76, of Wadsworth, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2002 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in North Chicago.
A loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, he was born December 20, 1925 in Waukegan. He served in the U.S. Army in the 4th Armored Division during World War II in 1945 and attained the rank of Tec/5 Acting Sergeant and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. He was a member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge 667 and he had owned and operated Austin Transportation Company. In 1970 he joined the Lake County Sheriffs Police Department, where he achieved rank of Division Supervisor, Fugitive Warrant Division and retired from the force in 1980.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; two daughters, Diana (John) Bandman (nee Austin) and Kristie (Robert) Steffensen (nee Austin); one son, Tracy Austin; grandchildren, Jeff and Cheryl Bandman, Taylor Austin, Hailey Corder and Klaudia and Kristoffer Lee Steffensen; one great-grandson, Ian Jason Bandman; and one sister, Florence Coady of Prescott, Arizona.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 6, 2002 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 7, at 1:00PM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Hougen of North Prairie United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest cemetery, Newport Township.
