Calvin "Cal" Hartwick
Calvin "Cal" Hartwick, born September 14, 1943 died August 2, 2003 of an unexpected massive heart attack in Bruce's Crossing, MI. "Cal" had lived in Waukegan for 12 years. He worked at F&R; Sales and Service in Waukegan. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jake and Lynn Hartwick of CA and Roy and Diane Hartwick of MI.
A Memorial service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1520 N. McAree Rd, Waukegan on Sunday, August 17th at 2 PM. All who knew Calvin are invited to attend and share their memories of him.
Sybil L. Hunter
Sybil L. Hunter, 92, of Libertyville, passed away Wednesday August 13, 2003 at The Wealshire of Lincolnshire. She was born October 19, 1910 in St. Louis, MO, and had been a Libertyville resident since 1947. She was a graduate of Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa and was a founding member and elder at the Community of Christ Church in Libertyville. Billie was an active member of the Libertyville community, serving and volunteering for numerous organizations.
Surviving are three children, Carol Hunter Evans of Libertyville, Robert D. (Arline) Hunter of Lake Bluff and Craig (Mary) Hunter of Libertyville; seven grandchildren, Todd (May) Evans, Kimberly Evans (John) Quigley, Susan Evans, Daryl (John) Krumsee, Robert A. Hunter, Brandon Hunter and Kristan Hunter; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Myrtle Lloyd, by her husband Raymond Hunter on July 28, 1998, by her sister Jane Hughes and brother Robert Lloyd.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 16, 2003 at the Community of Christ Church, 835 Winchester Road, Libertyville, with Elder Judy Maneval, officiating. An interment service for her family will be held at Lakeside cemetery in Libertyville Saturday morning. A time of visitation will follow the services at the church. Lillian F. Lawler
Lillian F. Lawler (nee Hoban), 84, of Wadsworth, IL died on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at home.
Lillian was born November 17, 1918 in Chicago and moved to Winthrop Harbor in 1959. She was a graduate of Moser Business College of Chicago. She was also a member of Our Lady of Humility Church of Beach Park where she was also the Past President of the Women's Club. Lillian was a longtime employee of Richard Able & Co. of Zion (later known as Scholarly Books). She was also a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion Auxiliaries.
Survivors include her children Lee (Jim) Gates of Lilburn, GA, Patrick (Mary) Lawler of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Mike Lawler of Wadsworth, John Lawler of North Chicago, Fran (Dan) McCormick of Winthrop Harbor, Dorothy (Larry) Fowler of Zion, Larry Lawler of Wadsworth and Mark (Brenda) Lawler of Waukegan; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three sisters Glennette Lowry of Racine, Dolores Logar of Rochester, NY and Betty (Richard) Harju of Bloomery, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph B. Lawler and by one great granddaughter Erin Lawler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park. Interment will be private. Luther Leith
Luther Leith, 90, of Zion died on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at his home.
Luther was born February 17, 1913 in Carbon Hill, AL and moved to Zion in 1949. He worked as a coal miner in Alabama for 16 years. Later he was a member of Local #152 of Highwood for 47 years and retired from Lyman Construction in 1974.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Estelle, whom he married
on October 31, 1946 in Mississippi; one son Steve R. (Phyllis) Leith of Blue River, WI; one daughter Jeannie (John) Sparks of Zion; five grandchildren Luther J. Leith, Steve E. (Kelly) Leith, John Sparks Jr., Christopher R. (Rachel) Leith and Rebecca J. Sparks; and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Seth. He was preceded in death by his father and mother James and Wilma Leith and by one sister and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Helen Frances Luther
Helen Frances Luther, 92, of Zion, formerly of Winthrop Harbor, died on Thursday, August 14, 2003 at her home.
Helen was born April 23, 1911 in Ewing, Nebraska, in northern Nebraska. She moved with her family to Bloomington, Nebraska at the age of five, attended schools there and graduated form high school in 1930. She worked for several years in Nebraska before moving to Zion in the mid to late 1930's where she married
William Luther. She served for many years as Village Clerk of Winthrop Harbor and she was employed by Harris Motors of Winthrop Harbor for over 30 years. She was also a longtime member of Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Biscardi of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Claudia (Tom) Luther-Trapnell and Rita Luther both of Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren, Anita (Bill) Anderson of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Dale (Kathy) Biscardi of Byron, Illinois and Carol Biscardi of Crystal, Minnesota; seven great grandchildren, Robyn, Bonnie, Angela, Troy, Nicole, Kristina and Laura; and two brothers, Harold Versaw of Franklin, Nebraska and Donald Versaw of Lakewood, California. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary in 1959; a son-in-law, Bill Biscardi; and by her father and mother, Don and Lucy Versaw.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2003 at 10 AM at the Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church, 600 College Avenue, Winthrop Harbor with Pastor Gary Houghen officiating. Helen O. McCormick
Mrs. Helen O. McCormick, age 81, of Tampico, IL, died Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at her daughter's home in Beach Park, IL.
She was born on December 31, 1921 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Maximillian and Bessie Mikos Kravchuk. She was united in marriage to Francis J. McCormick on February 7, 1942 in Chicago, IL and he preceded her in death on August 30, 1989. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico and The Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of The Tampico Historical Society.
Mrs. McCormick is survived by three sons William (Shirley) McCormick of Capillion, Nebraska, Kenneth McCormick of Boynton Beach, Florida, and James (Corrine) McCormick of Sterling, IL, one daughter Pat (Larry) Winn of Beach Park, IL, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one sister Mary Bostelman of Sterling, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother Michael Kravchuk.
Funeral prayer services will be conducted on Monday at 12:30 PM in THE GARLAND FUNERAL HOME in Tampico followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jan Krutewicz, pastor of Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church in Beach Park, Zion officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tampico. Visitation will be Sunday 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM in The Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. A Memorial has been established in her memory to the Tampico Historical Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
Glenn McCulloch
Glenn McCulloch, 86, of Beach Park, died on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at Westmoreland Nursing Home in Lake Forest.
Glenn was born November 7, 1916 in Chicago and moved to Zion at age seven. Glenn was a member of Christ Community Church, and was employed at Feinberg's Mens Store in Waukegan for 45 years. He was an avid private pilot in this area out of the Waukegan airport, and during World War II he trained glider pilots in the army. He was also an avid golfer.
Glenn is survived by his wife June and four children Glenda (Lance) Bingley of Omaha, NE, Wayne (Wanda) McCulloch of Shrewsbury, PA, Debra (John) Pearson of Lake Forest, and Stephan (Linda) Mathiesen of Mudelein; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one sister Anita Bright of Zion. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marion, and two sisters Nedra Gaddis and Muriel Slack.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd.,Zion, with Pastor Lance Bingley, Glenn's son-in-law, of Believers Bible Church of Omaha, NE and Pastor Jon Wiziarde of Christ Community Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the Congdon Funeral Home.
Patrick M. O'Connor
Patrick M. O'Connor, 73, of Lincolnshire, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at his home. He was born August 11, 1930 in Dublin, Ireland and came to live in the USA in 1954. He was a former resident of Hawthorn Woods and also enjoyed spending winters in Palm City, Florida. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Northwestern University in 1959 and became a CPA in 1962. He also lectured in accounting at Northwestern from 1962 to 1971.
Mr. O'Connor was a member of the Board of Directors of the MacLean-Fogg Corporation, having served as the V.P. of Finance from 1978 to 1995. He was the President of Secure Medical, a division of MacLean-Fogg from 1995 to 1997, when he retired.
Surviving are his wife Jane (nee Simpson) O'Connor of Lincolnshire; a son Patrick (Margaret) O'Connor of Schaumburg and step daughter Jennifer Birch of Cambridge, Mass.; his grandchildren, Ashley and Claire; three sisters, Mary Frawley, Margaret Gaughan and Anne Nestor and brothers Thomas and Andy O'Connor.
Prayers will begin at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, August 16 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville and services will continue to St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church in Indian Creek for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Ollie Lee Sawyer
Mrs. Ollie Lee Sawyer departed this earthly life on August 12, 2003 at the age of 98, at Provena Saint Therese Medical Center. She was born the daughter of Oscar and Carrie Coleman on May 26, 1905 in Talladega, Alabama.
She confessed Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Mt. Pilgrim Church of Talladega, Alabama. She married
Jessie Sawyer in 1928. To this union, seven children were born. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family.
In 1977 she relocated to the Waukegan-North Chicago area. She joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Waukegan, IL under the leadership of Pastor Arthur J. Gass, Sr. There she served on the Mother's Board.
She leaves to cherish her memory five sons, J.S. Sawyer of St. Louis, MO, Deholly (Theresa) Sawyer of North Chicago, IL, John O. (Doris) Sawyer of San Antonio, TX, Matthew (Rutelia) Sawyer of Toledo, OH, and Otis (Clara) Sawyer of North Chicago, IL; 38 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and good friend Lillian Shelton.
Her parents Oscar and Carrie Coleman, husband Jessie Sawyer, sister Corrine, son Rev. Jimmie Lee Sawyer, daughter Josie M. Jemison, grandsons Sebristian Leigh Sawyer, Shelby Sawyer and Reginald Charles Jemison, and granddaughter Sheila Theresa Sawyer preceded her in death.

Geroldine C. Tanner
Geroldine C. Tanner, 59 of Wadsworth, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion. She was born in Chicago on April 30, 1944 the daughter of the late Stanley and Cecelia (nee Kobak) Buczek. Geroldine was a resident of Grayslake and Ingleside for over 40 years and a resident of Wadsworth for 17 years. She worked at Sam's Club in Gurnee.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Michael Nabor of Wadsworth; her daughter Tracey (Kevin) Anderson of Vernon Hills; her step-son, Frank (Lupe) Nabor of Gurnee; her grandchildren, Sara and David Jensen of Vernon Hills, and Amber and Vinny Nabor of Gurnee; her brother Ron Buczek and sister Joan (Dale) Clark both of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Tanner.

Lorraine M. Weishaar (nee Rogers), formerly of Chicago, born June 23, 1919, passed away peacefully into the arms of God August 7, 2003 in Zion amidst the loving care of the Rolling Hills Nursing Home staff. She went to join her beloved late husband, Norbert F. on their 60th wedding anniversary.
Loving mother of Dolly (Lorraine) Pohlman, Mary-Rose Luttrell and Michael J. Weishaar; cherished grandmother of Beth (Jeffrey) Uhlir, James R. Pohlman, Lori Jedrysek (Chris Fink), Linda Jedrysek (Michael Gordon), Corinna and Jasmine Weishaar; adored Big Grandma to her great grandchildren, Daniel and Kevin Uhlir, Alyssa Jedrysek, Ashley Fink, Kian Baxter, Kara and Katie Pohlman who will always have the most wonderful memories of their time together.

Dawn M. Davis of Twin Lakes, WI passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL at the age of 47. She was born May 18, 1957 to the late Harlan and Lois Wilson in Libertyville, IL.
Dawn is survived by her husband of 27 years, Stephen Davis; her children, Christopher (April) Davis and Jennifer (Jeff) Gammel; her grandchildren, Edward, Autumn, Felicity, Benjamin and Madeline Gammel; her brothers, Kim (Kimberly) Wilson, Mark Wilson and Jeff (Marsha) Wilson; and her brothers-in-law, Ralph (Lynn) Davis and Ron Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her stepfather, George Gray.

Michael Todd Henderson
Michael Todd Henderson, 35 years old of Waukegan, IL, formerly of Salem, WI, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2004. He was born September 25, 1968 in Burlington, WI, the son of Frederick and Lana (Saloff) Henderson.
Michael enjoyed fishing and loved the outdoors. He will be remembered for having a kind heart and kindred spirit.
He leaves behind his mother, Lana Henderson of Silver Lake, WI, a sister, Michele (Michael) Forster of Gurnee, IL, his grandmother, Gertrude Schneider, two nephews, Michael Jr. and Kyle Forster and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Henderson, his uncles, Larry and Jack Henderson and his grandmother, Mariane Saloff.

Lillian Lomma
Lillian Lomma, 77 years old of Mesa, AZ formerly of Antioch, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at her home. She was born August 12, 1926 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Mole) Sortino. She lived in Chicago where she was a member of St. Gertrude's Church. She and her late husband, Tony, owned and operated Tony & Lil's in Chicago and in 1963 reopened the restaurant in Antioch, IL. She was a member of St. Peter Church in Antioch. On November 30, 1946 she married
Anthony "Tony" Lomma in Chicago and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1998.
Survivors include her daughter, Antoinette "Toni" (Jim) Vincent of Ingleside, IL and her son, Anthony "Tony" Lomma of Antioch, seven grandchildren Michelle (Bill) Witek, Douglas (Candi) Burke, David (Stacie) Burke, Angela (David) Conrad, Heather Burke, Jennifer Burke and Anthony Lomma and seven great grandchildren Kristi, Christopher, Timothy, Jeremiah, Sean, Sydney and Simon. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters Lucy Calistro and Concetta Luizza and a brother Arthur Sortino.

Jane-Anne Monaco (nee Fromme)
Jane-Anne Monaco (nee Fromme), 53, of Waukegan passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital. She was born February 20, 1951 in Urbana, IL. She was raised in Waukegan and spent most of her adult life in Waukegan and Chicago. She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church. She had worked at the Chicago Tribune, also in the advertising business and had been a secretary at a Chicago law firm. She had devoted the last years of her life to raising her son.
Jane-Anne is survived by her son, Monte Monaco of Waukegan and her brother, Barrie Fromme also of Waukegan; and her niece, Ellyn Fromme of VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Vivian (nee Seidler) Fromme.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2004 at PETERSON AND PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jacob C. "Jack" Mueller
Jacob C. "Jack" Mueller, 81, of Bristol, WI passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born October 6, 1922 in Chicago and was a former 10 year resident of Mundelein, living in Bristol since 1985. He was a 1940 graduate of Lane Technical High School and was the former owner of Mueller Printing Company in Chicago. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Gladstone American Legion Post #1119 in Chicago. Jack had served in the European Theatre during World War II and was highly decorated for Valor. He was also a former member of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Chicago and St. Scholastica Parish in Bristol.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Teresa (nee Nessler) Mueller; seven children, Paul (Kathleen) Mueller of St. Paul, MN, Kathleen (Wayne) Marino of Chicago, Jim (Toni) Mueller and Bill (Marge) Mueller both of Hoffman Estates, Tom (Mary) Mueller of Ballwin, MO, Diana (Larry) Kurtz and Dan (Jacqueline) Mueller both of Round Lake Beach; 20 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Helen Mueller; a grandson, Michael Marino; and his sister, Lucille.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Monday August 16 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Fremont Center. Interment will follow at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. S. Elizabeth "Betty" Sasavage, 89, of Kenosha died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at United Hospital Systems KMCC. Born on March 2, 1915 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Lewinski) Mendis. She was educated in North Chicago. In 1938, she married
Edward Sasavage. They were married
for over 35 years. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1968. For many years, she worked at Great Lakes Naval Hospital. In 1970, she moved to Kenosha where she raised two of her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Rosemary Sasavage of Kenosha; five sisters, Josephine Mruk of Zion, IL, Bernice Roundtree of CA, Martha Madsen of Zion, IL, Eva Jones of Zion, IL and Stella "Honey" McCarry of Zion; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Sasavage; and two sisters, Mary Rutkowski and Florence Todd.
