Dorothy Banks
Mrs. Dorothy Banks was born September 27, 1917 in Evadale Arkansas to the union of the late Roy Patterson and Atherine Bell Patterson. She departed this life at 4:30 a.m. July 27, 2002 at Victory Memorial Hospital. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age, she was baptized in the baptist faith in Arkansas.
Dorothy was united in Marriage to the late William Banks in the early 1940's. She relocated to the Waukegan-North Chicago area in the early 1940's where she joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.D. Kilgore, and later under the leadership of Pastor Gerald Wilcoxon. After many years of employment at Reliable and Skokie Valley Dry Cleaners, she retired due to failing health. Dorothy also worked as a hair dresser for many years and had many loyal customers.
Dorothy is survived by two brothers, Fred (Willie) and Harold (Joann) Patterson, both of Waukegan; one sister, Jean Curry of North Chicago, IL; one brother-in-law Ned (Lizzie) Banks; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband William Banks, parents Roy and Atherine Patterson, two brothers Roy and Richard Patterson, three sisters Mildred Boyd , LaVerne Jones and Ada Wesley.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 800 S. Genesee Street, Waukegan, IL, Rev. Walstone E. Francis, Pastor, with Rev. Gerald Wilcoxon, Pastor of Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m until time of service at the church. Edith Emelia Bargren
Edith Emelia Bargren, 90, Rockford, IL, died at 5:48 P.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at P.A. Peterson Center for Health. Born October 25, 1911, in Hammond, IN, daughter of Martin and Hilda Lund Ryden. A Rockford resident since 1914. A graduate of Rockford High School, class of 1927. married Emil G. Bargren, in Rockford on September 18, 1937, they were married 61 years. He died on May 31, 1999. Worked for Bargren Welding Supply in the office, retiring in 1980. Member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she served on the church council for 3 years.
Survivors include her son David (Mary) Bargren, Cherry Valley, IL; daughter Joanne (Dan) Moline, Grayslake, IL; grandchildren Michelle (Warren) Adam, Rockford; Melinda (Deven) Etnyre, Belvidere; Andrew (Nicole) Bargren, Steamboat Springs, CO; great-grandson, Nathan Adam, Rockford. Predeceased by her parents, step-father Werner Johnson, sister Rosella Jackson and brother Willard Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at the FRED C. OLSON FUNERAL CHAPELS LTD., EAST CHAPEL, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, IL with the Reverend Dr. Denver Bitner officiating. Burial in Scandinavian cemetery. Visitation from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, at the East Chapel. Memorials to Zion Lutheran Church or the family.

Sonja Boutin
Sonja Boutin, 59, a lifelong resident of Lake Forest, died July 29, 2002 at Lake Forest Hospital. She was born in Lake Forest on June 12, 1943. She was an office aide at Sheridan School in Lake Forest for the past 8 years and had been a volunteer at the school since 1970. Sonja worked various jobs for Lake Forest School District 67 for many years and at the bookstore at Lake Forest High School. She was a former Girl and Boy Scout Leader and a member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 264 in Lake Forest. She was also a full-time Mother.
Sonja was the Wife of Jerry; Mother of Gwen Boutin of Lake Forest and Bob Boutin of Mundelein; daughter of the late Einar and Astrid Jensen; sister of the late Donald Jensen.
Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 1, at the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest. Interment at St. Mary cemetery in Lake Forest. 1st Sgt. Harold Joseph Box Sr. (ret.), 59, of Lebanon, IL died July 30, 2002. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran.
Survived by his wife Betty (nee Radford) Box; son Harold "Joe" (Susan) Box Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Major John "Ed" Joseph (Kathy) Box of Fort Leavenworth, KS; 2 grandchildren Christopher John and Jonathan Edward Box.
Visitation 6:00 to 9:00 p.m Wednesday, July 31 at KURRUS FUNERAL HOME, Belleville, IL. Funeral services August 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Kurrus Funeral Home. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Charlotte Mae Brickner
Charlotte Mae Brickner, passed away June 23, 2002. She was born on June 21, 1941 in Evanston, IL.
She is survived by her mother Tillie Brickner and 2 brothers, Norman and David Brickner.

Eleanor A. Glabowicz
Eleanor A. Glabowicz (nee Basovsky), 85, of Wadsworth and formerly of Waukegan died Monday, July 29, 2002, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan.
She was born February 18, 1917 in North Chicago and lived in this community all of her life.
Eleanor retired from North Chicago Community High School cafeteria in 1979; was a member of Mother of God Church, Holy Rosary Church, and Queen of Peace Church, and a member of the Catholic Women's Club of Lake County.
Eleanor is survived by three daughters: Judy (Stanley) Territo of Wadsworth, IL, Janice Simmons of Milwaukee, WI, and Jeanne (John) Cullerton of Wadsworth, IL; a son, John (Kelly) Glabowicz of Waukegan; nine grandchildren: Stephen (Dawn), Heather and Eric Territo, Sacha, Nubian, Ishmael and Bilal Simmons, and, Kevin and Kelsey Glabowicz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph, on June 26, 2001; two brothers: Joseph and Rudy Basovsky; a sister, Mary Halas; and her parents, Izidor and Ursula (nee Daniels) Basovsky.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2002, from 4-7 p.m. at THE SALATA FUNERAL HOME, 729 14th St., North Chicago.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 2, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 14th St., North Chicago.
Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.

Eva M. Gladue
Eva M. Gladue, 78, of Waukegan passed away Monday, July 29, 2002 at home.
She was born April 22, 1924 in Culbertson, MT.
Survivors include four children, James (Sue) Gladue, Linda (Dick) Gillespie, and Gloria Dreitlein all of Waukegan and Michael (Sheryl) Gladue of Zion; nine grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1980; four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 31, 2002 in the MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St. Interment will be in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation will be from 10 AM Wednesday until time of Service only at the funeral home.

Agnes Kutzler Mahler
Agnes Kutzler Mahler (nee Kristan), 88, passed away at Point Lookout Village Nursing Home, Hollister, Missouri on July 27, 2002. She was born in North Chicago, IL on July 20, 1914 to Herman and Elizabeth Kristan; attended Central and Holy Family Schools, North Chicago and graduated from Holy Child High School in Waukegan, she received further business education in Chicago, IL.
Agnes was an employee of Abbott Laboratories for 40 years. She and her husband Gaylen W. Mahler moved to Branson, MO in 1975 where they owned and operated a motel for 16 years.
Survivors include her brother, Joseph B. (Mary) Kristan of Gurnee, her sister, Bernice Bittner of Waukegan, step daughter, Patricia M. Mahler of Charleston, IL, step son, Gerald E. (Sara) Mahler of Lake Forest, IL, step granddaughter, Rebecca M. (Jerry) Kluehka of Lake Bluff, IL, a step grandson, Mark E. (Leslie W.) Mahler of Portland, OR, nephews, Robert (Christine) Bittner of Albuquerque, NM, Joseph (Judith) Kristan of Beach Park, Thomas (JoAnne) Kristan of Gurnee, Jeffrey Kristan of Waukegan, nieces, Jo Anne Wilde of Woodstock, Lynette Fuerst of Wadsworth, Cheryl Campbell of Madison, WI, Joan Steffens of Waukegan, Therese (Lawrence) Stickler of Wadsworth and Michelle (Robert) Wysiatko of Union Grove, WI, and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Kutzler and Gaylan W. Mahler, her parents, Herman and Elizabeth Kristan, sister, Rita (Edward) Madruh and a nephew Kevin Kristan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 1, 2002 at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Ave., Waukegan. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. at the church until time of services. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of PETERSON-PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan.

Donnie R. McNutt
Donnie R. McNutt, 50 of Kenosha died on Monday, July 29, 2002, at his residence.
Born in Booneville, Mississippi on November 5, 1951. He was the son of the late Edsel and Ermagene (Trimble) McNutt and step-son of Walter Budnik. He grew up in the Zion, IL area. He was a 1969 graduate of Zion-Benton High School. He came to Kenosha in 1988 to make his home.
He was formerly married to Debbie McNutt. He has been employed by Chrysler Corp., formerly American Motors Corporation, since 1970. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #72, American Bowling Congress, and Sunday Vegas League at Guttormsen's. He enjoyed golfing and was a family man.
Surviving are his two sons: Eric and Evan McNutt of Kenosha; a daughter, Amber (Al) Mueller of Kenosha; two brothers: Ron McNutt of Burnsville, MS and Mike (Laura) McNutt of Pleasant Prairie, WI; and a grandson, Tyler McNutt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, and two brothers: James and Roy McNutt.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2, at PROKO FUNERAL HOME, 5111 - 60th St., at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Green Ridge cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home.

Robert M. Samuel Sr.
Robert M. Samuel Sr., 84, of Florida, formerly of Libertyville died suddenly July 26 in Bonita Springs, FL. He was born July 16, 1918 in Philadelphia to Ruby and Loraine Samuel. He served in the Navy for more than 20 years as a Data Processing Manager. Later he continued that same role as a civilian in the Electronics Supply Office at Great Lakes Naval Base. He was active in both the Libertyville and Bonita Springs Knights of Columbus and was past Grand Knight of the Cardinal Stritch Counsel. He was also active in the Antioch Loyal Order of the Moose and was a member of the Fleet Reserve.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Elizabeth Richards of Libertyville and Rebecca (Jeff) Ronsman of Spring Grove Hill; 2 sons Robert M. Samuel Jr. and Robert M. (Lisa) Samuel III of Hawaii; granddaughter Amy Richards of Chicago and his beloved companion of many years Carmella Zanello of Bonita Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife E. Mary Samuel in 1986.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 3 from MCMURROUGH CHAPEL, 101 Park Place, Libertyville to St. Joseph Church for mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Ascension cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Calvin R. Blickle, Sr.
Calvin R. Blickle, Sr., 78 years old of Antioch, IL, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004 at his home. He was born April 10, 1926 in Zion, IL, the son of the late Henry G. and Zaidee E. (Schultz) Blickle. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and moved to Antioch in 1977. Cal was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge of Harvard, IL and was a past governor, A North Moose in the Legion of the Moose, a past president of the 3rd District, was on the ritual team and held the Fellowship Degree. He was a bus driver, custodian and mechanic for 20 years at the Antioch Community High School and later was a bus driver and custodian for St. Peter School in Antioch. Cal liked to do Latch Hook Rugs, to play solitary cards and he loved animals.
On February 12, 1944, he married Margaret L. Sell in Racine, WI and she preceded him in death on August 9, 2000.
Survivors include his six children, Calvin R. (Christine) Blickle, Jr. of Prospect Heights, IL, Karen E. Blickle of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Bruce E. (Janet) Blickle of Springfield, OR, Barbara A. Akred of Zion, IL, Robert H. Blickle and Pearl G. (David) Zahnle, both of Antioch; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83), with the Rev. Gary L. Curl of the Antioch United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Info 847-395-4000.

William E. "Gene" Brown
William E. "Gene" Brown, 74, of Huntley, IL passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born April 30, 1930 in St. Elmo, IL and was a 1948 graduate of Rantoul High School, where he was honored by being elected to the school Sport's Hall of Fame. He also attended Butler University in Indianapolis before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps and serving in the Korean War.
Gene was employed by the Illinois Power Company for 33 years, retiring as District Manager while living in Aledo, IL. There, he was an active member of the community, serving as Past President of the Kiwanis Club, member of the Aledo Masonic Lodge, member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church and following retirement, served as the Mayor of Aledo.
In 1999, Gene and his wife moved to a Del Webb Sun City retirement home in Huntley, where he participated in numerous activities, including golf, bocci ball and water aerobic's. He also volunteered at elementary schools in Aledo and Huntley, helping children learn to read.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy (nee Burr) Brown of Huntley; his daughter, Dr. Laura (Kris) Brown-Hoult and grandchildren, Sara and Clare Hoult, all of Libertyville; two brothers, Ben Brown of Portland, OR and Dick (Wilda) Brown of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Kathleen Brown; by his twin sister, Jane; and brother, Bob.
Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 2, at the First Presbyterian Church, Maple and Douglas Avenues, Libertyville, with the Rev. J. D. Millar officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 4709 Golf Rd., Suite 1015, Skokie, IL, 60076. Colonel George T. Burton (USA Ret.)
Colonel George T. Burton (USA Ret.), 87, of Lake Bluff, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago. Born December 8, 1916 in Danville, Virginia, he served his country with courage and dignity during World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Army in 1969, Colonel Burton continued service to his community through his work at Great Lakes Naval Base, and the Northeast Illinois Council of Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his son, Brad Burton of Mundelein, Illinois; two daughters, Betty Burton of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Linda Lange of Waukegan, Illinois; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, LTD, 120 W. Park Ave., Libertyville. Interment will take place at Fort Sheridan cemetery, Highwood, Illinois. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Shirley Mae Busscher
Shirley Mae Busscher passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004 in the care of her daughters and family in Antioch, IL. She was 75 years of age. She was born January 27, 1929 to the late Frederick and Bessie Wendorf in Chicago, IL. Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife and was a member of The Quilting Queens of Ingleside.
Shirley is survived by her children, Sherry (Thomas) Crichton and Valerie (Richard) Stevens; her grandchildren, Holly and Elizabeth Fales, T.J. and Kirstin Crichton, and Randy and Tiffany Stevens; her sisters, Marjorie Mauch and Marilyn Marshall; her sister-in-law, Dolores Busscher.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George A. Busscher.
At Shirley's request a remembrance gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, One East Wacker Drive #2430 Chicago, IL 60601-1905 or The Humane Society of the United States, PH#301-258-8276.

Marian Reed Cresto
Marian Reed Cresto, 73, of Gurnee and formerly of Waukegan, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Evanston Hospital. She was born August 21, 1930 in Joliet, IL, and had been an area resident since 1956.
Marian was a member of St. Anastasia Parish, she had worked as a vision and hearing technician for SEDOL and had also worked for many years, as a customer service representative, for the Bank of Waukegan and recently for C.I.B. Bank in Gurnee.
She is survived by her husband, with whom she was united in marriage on October 6, 1956, Joseph P. Cresto; her children, Susan Cresto of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Sally (Blake) Frodin of Clarendon Hills, IL, Michael (Rhonda) Cresto of Downers Grove, IL, and Joseph J. (Susie) Cresto of Summerfield, NC; five grandchildren, Erin, Reed and Maggie Frodin, Michael and Benjamin Cresto; her sister, Betty Jane Sullivan of Joliet; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Anna Louise (nee Bannon) Reed; and her brother-in-law, William Sullivan.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM Monday, August 2, 2004 at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Ave., Waukegan. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Anastasia School, 624 Douglas Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085.
