Rufin Mak
Rufin Mak, beloved husband of Anne, son of the late Stanislaw Mak and Marja Bojec, born November 25, 1926 in Crusnes, France, fell asleep in death on July 18, 2003 in his 76th year.
On April 24, 1948, he married Anne M. Lipowicz and they recently had the privilege, honor and pleasure of celebrating their 55 years together.
He was the father of Chantal R. Majon, William and Sandra; father-in-law to Jean-Jacques Majon; grandfather to David, Pascal (engaged to Judy Murray), Dominique, Aimee and Kailee.
He was a brother to Elise (Alphonse) Bogatzki and Adele (Pierre) Debruyne of France. He is survived by many nephews, nieces, his mother-in-law and brothers and sisters-in-law.
He was a baptized Jehovah's Witness since August 1945. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday July 23, 2003 at 6 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 23602 West Grass Lake Road, Antioch, Illinois.
Those desiring may make contribution to Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2821 Route 22, Patterson, NY 12583-2237 in his memory.

Phyllis D. McSee
Phyllis D. McSee, age 43, of Waukegan, IL passed away suddenly on July 17, 2003 at the Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL.
She was born February 3, 1960 in Waukegan and lived most of her life in North Chicago, IL. She previously was employed at Ft. Sheridan, IL and most recently worked as a caseworker for the State of Illinois, Department of Human Services.
She is survived by her parents, Elsye McSee Williams and Julian R. Penny (Molly); a brother, Brian McSee; six sisters, Teresa McSee Odoms (Laurence), Jennifer Penny, Julianne Penny, Valerie Penny, Deborah Penny and Cheryl Funches (Charles); a step brother, Herbert Williams, Jr., five step sisters, Karen (Calvin) Pitts, Avis Williams, Kim Williams, Vivian Jones and Cynthia Williams; several nephews including, Terrell McSee, Joshua McSee and Keniel Odoms; a niece, Teresa L. Williams; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends including Kathy Craigen and Stephanie Honeycutt, a very dear friend Kenneth Williams; three goddaughters, Brittany, Breanna and Latoya.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Julian and Geraldine Penny, maternal grandmother, Viola E. Gaines and a brother, Arthur D. Williams.

Alan O. Nelson
A;an O. Nelson, 75, of Lake Villa, IL passed away at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL on Sunday, July 20, 2003.
He was born in Chicago, IL on September 12, 1927, the son of the late Mildred and Axel Nelson. He was a resident of Lake Villa since 1955. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL. He was a retired Journeyman Plumber and a member of Plumbers Local 93. He was a retired member of the Lake Villa Volunteer Fire Department and was a charter member of the Underwater Recovery Unit. He was a member of the Millburn Masonic Lodge. Member and past commander of the American Legion- Lake Villa Post. He was a former consultant with the Lake County Forest Preserve. He married Martha Allene (nee Cox) on December 18, 1948.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Allene; his children, Alana (John) Piniotes of Worth, IL, Dale (Rita) Nelson of North Carolina, Charles Nelson of Lincoln, IL and Bruce (April) Nelson of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Micah, Joshua, Jason, Annette and Abigail; his brother, Robert (Doreen) Nelson of Wooddale, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur (Martha) Beahm.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2003 at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Rte. 83, Lake Villa, IL 60046. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday.

Mildred "Millie" Novak
Mildred "Millie" Novak, 91, of Waukegan, Illinois died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at St. Therese Hospital.
Millie was born September 16, 1911 in Waukegan, IL, and lived in this area most of her life. She was a former member of Mother of God Church and was a member of the church choir. She was also a member of Catholic Womens Club of Lake County, St. Anne's Lodge KSKJ #127, Christian Mothers Club.
Millie is survived by her loving children, Frank (Valarie nee Bastys) Novak of Gurnee and Margaret "Margie" Seveska of Lake Villa; a daughter-in-law, Judy Novak, son-in-law, James Murphy; seven grandchildren, Linda (Christopher) Stoyanoff, Loretta Novak, Kevin (Jennifer) Murphy, Michelle (Christopher) Walsh, Tamara (Kevin) Finch, Brian Seveska and Laura (Greg) Falk; six great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank "Bobo" in 1975; a son James "Jimmy" Novak in 1986; a daughter, Carol Murphy, 2002; a sister, Stephanie Van Gerrewey; a brother, Rudolph Bencina in 1989 and son-in-law, Dennis Seveska in 1980.
Visitations will be held Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the GURNEE/SALATA FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Av., Gurnee, and on Thursday from 10-10:30 a.m. at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 24, 2003 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 900 14th St., North Chicago, IL. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville, IL.

Eugene F. "Bud" Walker
Eugene F. "Bud" Walker, 96, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Friday July 18, 2003 at home.
Bud was born Nov. 6, 1906 in Waukegan and lived in this area all his life. On Jan. 9, 1928 he married his wife Dorothy. Bud served in the Illinois National Guard from 1932-1935, and retired from Commonwealth Edison after 35 years of service. He was a good family man and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Dorothy, children, William (Geraldine) Walker of Libertyville, Katherine (Don) Macier of Gamaliel, Arkansas, Eugene (Cathy) Walker of Springville, Alabama and Suzanne Smith of Winthrop Harbor; 13 grandchildren Robin, Gale, Dawn, Chrissie, Donna, Richard, Diana, Ronald, Douglas, Eugene III, Kenneth, Tim and Peter; eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Lou LaBarbara and a brother, Robert.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion. Visitation will be Monday, July 21, 2003 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Michael Barrile
Michael Barrile, 48, of Vernon Hills. Irreplaceable father, brother, son, uncle, Papa, grandson, nephew and friend, passed away July 16, 2003 in Lake Forest Hospital. He was born March 22, 1955 in Chicago and had resided in Vernon Hills for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his former wife, Maureen Barrile (nee Reynolds); his children Jessica, Leah (Benjamin), Joshua, Zachary, Cullen and Chelsea Barrile. He was known as Papa to three lucky grandchildren, Jasmine Phinn, Emileo Mercado and Iris Comas. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Christine (Lisa), Frank (Kim), Patricia (Logan), Scott (Holly), and Nick (Katie) Barrile; his father Frank Barrile, Jr.; his grandmother Evelyn Barrile; and his uncle Carl Barrile. He was a beloved uncle of many.
Mike was an active coach with the Libertyville Boys Club Football and Grayslake/Libertyville Wrestling Factory. He recently had the joy of watching his son Cullen graduate High School and was at the dock in San Diego waiting for his Marine son, Joshua, to return from the Persian Gulf. His children and grandchildren filled his life with immeasurable love and pride and he will forever by missed.
Memorial Services will be Saturday July 19, 2003 at 12:00 noon at MCMURROUGH CHAPEL, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, with Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be made to the Education Fund for the Children of Michael Barrile, c/o Libertyville Bank and Trust, 507 N. Thomas Canelakes
Thomas Canelakes, 93, passed away on July 15, 2003. He was born on April 8, 1910 in North Chicago.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn (Perpich) to whom he was married for 58 years and son Tony (Lynda) of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by grandchildren Tom Canelakes, Amanda (Sean) Ewing and Peter Canelakes and his great grandchildren, Anthony and Nicholas. His brother Sam (Helen) of Ocala, Florida and many nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He operated the Island Restaurant and Palace Tavern in the 1950's and later worked for Jewel Companies.
He is preceded in death by his two sons, Peter and James in addition to his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held Friday 10 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1217 North Ave., Waukegan. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with the Trisagion service at 6:30 PM at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 305 cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL. (847) 336-0127.

Lucile L. Doerr nee Bersted
Lucile L. Doerr nee Bersted, age 89, a resident of Des Plaines for the past 6 years, formerly of Leisure Village, Fox Lake for 18 years, and Chicago, and Park Ridge died on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Holy Family Hospital in DesPlaines, IL
She was born in Chicago, IL on December 4, 1913 to Chris and Blanche (nee Poutz) Bersted.
She was a housewife who enjoyed her family, gardening and crafts and was member of the Lutheran Church of All Saints in Fox Lake of which she was a very active member.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Barbara) Doerr of Chicago; her brother, Howard (Signe) Bersted, of Springfield, MO; her grandchildren, Ronald (Soyna) Doutt of Charlotte, NC, William (Amie) Wilmette, and Debbie Wilmette, all of California, Wendy (Gary) Bernard of Chicago, Robin (James) Genchur of Charlotte, NC, Pamela Berndt of Chicago and Carol (Richard) Donovan of Carpentersville; six great grandchildren, Amanda, Rebecca, Michael, Alexis, Megan and Ryan; nieces, nephews and other relatives survive.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Lucile Ballard in 1983 and Grace Berndt in 1970; by a great grandson, Raymond in 1993; and her husband in 1988.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2003 form 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, Ltd., 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake (1/2 block west of Rt. 12, 1/2 block North of Grand Ave.) and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of All Saints, 5800 State Park Rd., Fox Lake. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Frances V. Fox
Frances V. Fox, 66 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. She was born August 3, 1936 in Woodstock, IL the daughter of the late Howell and Lulu (Thomas) Kenimer and had lived in Antioch most of her life.
She was a member of the Millburn Congregational Church, loved to do crafts and to care for her flowers. On August 7, 1954 she married Hubert L. Fox in Millburn and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1998.
Survivors include her children, Kimberly Fox of Antioch, Bradley (Mary) Fox of Ingleside, Kevin (Cindy) Fox of Antioch and Howell (Laurie) Fox of Fox Lake; two brothers, Wally (Joanne) Kenimer of LaCrosse, WI and Donald Kenimer of Round Lake Park, IL; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother Marvin "Butch" Kenimer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2003 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) with the Rev. Paul Meltzer of the Millburn Congregational Church officiating.
Interment will be in Millburn cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday.

Dorothy M. Haws, 68, of Winthrop Harbor died on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion.
Dorothy was born March 20, 1935 in Sault St. Marie, Michigan and moved to Winthrop Harbor in 1965. She was a member of Zion-Benton Women of the Moose Lodge 667.
Survivors include her children Ryan Scott Haws and Cindy (Alan) Mihaljevic both of Winthrop Harbor; grandchildren, Candy (Jose) Macia, Tanja Haws, Nancy Haws, Ryan Haws Jr., Jason Richardson, and Jarrod, Justine and Jennifer Mihaljevic; great-grandchildren Gabby, Jose Jr., Jessica, Angelica, Latanya, Mariah, Rakell and Katelyn; brothers Gary (Mitzie) Hubbert of Orlando, FL, Jack (Sandy) Hubbert of Panama City, FL; sisters, Phillis (Paul) Daneau of Panama City, FL, and Sally (Tim) Plzak of Wilmot, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Haws; a brother William H. Clark; her father Albert Hubbert; her step-father William H. Clark and by her mother, Agnes Clark.

Muriel J. Maynard
Muriel J. Maynard, 92, of Rockford, died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born January 11, 1911 in Zion, IL. Daughter of Reverend Michael Jonas & Esther May Butler Mintern. Rockford resident since 1996, coming from Zion, IL. married William Maynard March 7, 1935 in Zion, IL. He died May 30, 1998. Longtime member of Christian Catholic Church of Zion and currently a member of Second Congregational Church of Rockford. Muriel attended Zion Preparatory College in Zion, IL.
Survivors include her daughters, Reverend Janet (Everett) Schleter of Oregon, IL; Carol (Marlin) Bird of Zion, IL; sons, Loren William Maynard of Union Grove, WI; Dr. John (Dr. Margaret) Maynard of Rockford; grandchildren, Kathy Bereiter; Diane (Frank) Bunker Jr; Terry Bird; Lisa (Lewie) Mitchell; Janine (Reverend J. Sharon Alice Pyla
Sharon Alice Pyla, 57 of Grayslake, passed away at her home, Wednesday, July 16, 2003. She was born in Woodbury, New Jersey on October 4, 1945, the daughter of John P. and the late Doris (nee Wescott) Pedrick. She graduated from Penns Grove Regional High School, Penns Grove, NJ and was a member of the Mayflower Descendants of New Jersey. She has been a resident of the Grayslake area for the past 14 years and worked as a waitress at JT's Roadhouse in Antioch before retiring. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1952 in Pennsville, NJ.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, William "Bill" Pyla of Grayslake; her father, John P. Pedrick of Pedricktown, NJ; her brothers, John H. Pedrick of Pedricktown, NJ; and Timothy Pedrick of Pompano Beach, FL; and her sister, Elizabeth (David) Bretz of Westminster, MD.
Funeral service will be at 4PM on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Faith Baptist Church of Lake County, 954 W. Brae Loch Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment is private. Bernhard A. "Tex" Rosenquist
Bernhard A. "Tex" Rosenquist, age 78, of Round Lake Beach, IL passed away at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in North Chicago. He was born in Chicago, IL on February 16, 1925 and left this world on Tuesday, July 15, 2003. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a truck driver for 42 years. He moved to the Round Lake area with his family in 1973. He was an active member and past commander of the American Legion Post 1170 in Round Lake Park.
Tex is survived by his loving wife, Rose (nee Endre); his children, Julia (Paul) Murray of Round Lake Beach, Steven (Sylvia) of Antioch, Mary (Keith Roberts) of Round Lake Beach, Thomas (Debra) of Sound Beach, NY, Rosemarie (Kenneth) Roberts of Watauga, TX, and Bernhard "Bernie" of Grantsburg, WI. He was the devoted grandfather of four and the dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Joe (Jesus) Solis
Joe (Jesus) Solis, 68, a Lake Villa resident formerly of Waukegan, IL died Saturday, July 12, 2003 in Ingleside, IL.
He was born on September 10, 1934 to Marin and Jesus (nee Saldana) Solis Sr. in Waukegan and was a Veteran having served with the U.S. Marines.
He was employed as a Millwright and had been a member of the Millwright Union Local 1693 of Hindsdale, IL.
Survivors include his daughter Valerie (Craig) Barrett of Ingleside, IL with whom he made his home during his illness; seven grandchildren, Brittanie and Trevor Mumenthaler, Samantha and Alexandria Wulf, and Krystal, Trezure, and Craig Barrett; a brother Marin "Marty" (Evie) Solis Jr. of Annapolis Maryland and two sisters, Beda (the late Al) Gonzales of Annapolis Maryland; Rose (Norman) Sladen of San Francisco, CA; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Wulf of Genoa City, WI and a son-in-law, Robert Mumenthaler of Round Lake, IL.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Epi Wulf, Joseph J. Solis, his daughter, Melonie Mumenthaler, a brother, Arne Solis and by his parents.
Memorial services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, IL.
