Rita Wachowiak (nee O'Connell)
Rita Wachowiak (nee O'Connell) 62, came to this world on October 4, 1942 in London, England and died peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2005, surrounded by her family after a short unexpected illness.
Rita worked at Abbott Labs for 27 years before retiring in May, 2000 to enjoy her many interests including: traveling, fine dining, theatre and lunches with her girlfriends, morning swims at the pool and playing golf.
Rita enjoyed spending time with her grandson Joseph and puttering in her "English Garden" with her pets. She also involved herself in many charities and organizations. Rita was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Her joy of life and consideration of others will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her son, Michael (Michele) and their son, Joseph; her dearest daughter, Lisa; loving brother, Gerry (Susan) O'Connell and their children James and Fiona; and a host of nieces and nephews in England.
From her marriage with Joseph Wachowiak, her loving family includes Jerry, Lillian and Louise Wachowiak and their respective families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; father, James; mother, Jenny; and brothers, Patrick and Stanley O'Connell.
Friends may call at the SALATA FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, April 18, with wake service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private in England.
Lyle J. Coen
Lyle J. Coen, 74, of Libertyville, IL passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born June 25, 1929 in Paige, North Dakota and had been a Libertyville resident for the past 45 years. He was a graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and had been a research bio-chemist at Abbott Laboratories for 33 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War and was a member of the Libertyville American Legion Post #329.
Lyle was an active member of the community, where he was a former Little League coach, Boy Scout and Indian Guide Leader and a member and part of the volunteer maintenance and repair staff at the United Methodist Church. He loved life, was a loving husband and father and enjoyed many sports, including fishing, hunting, golfing and was a long time member of the Abbott Bowling League. We will always remember and treasure his joyful celebration of life.
Surviving are his wife, Verna Coen; four children, Tim (Robyn) Coen of Marshfield, WI, Renee (Ron) Carstens of Double Oaks, TX, Jon (Beth) Coen of Littleton, CO and Michael (Kris) Coen of Pleasant Prairie, WI; nine grandchildren; a great grandson; his mother, Marjorie Coen of Canon City, CO; two sisters, Palma Romero and Joyce Benjamin; and two brothers, Douglas and Allen Coen.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Coen; by his first wife, Carol Jean Coen in 1962; and by his brother, Curtis.
Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave (Rt. 176), Libertyville with the Rev. Jamison S. Geiger officiating. Edith Gordon
Edith Gordon, age 95 of Waukegan died April 14, 2004 at the Waukegan Terrace Nursing Home. She was born November 18, 1908 in Evanston and moved to Waukegan, after her marriage to Charlie Gordon, June 4, 1933, where she spent the rest of her life.
Edith and Charlie owned and operated the Glen Flora Grocery Store in Waukegan for several years, where she was known as "Ma Gordon" by many of the local teenagers. Edie was also known and loved by many at the Globe Department Stores on Genesee Street and Lewis Avenue, where she spent many years in the children's department. The last few years, she spent visiting and helping out at the Terrace Nursing Home, when her husband was there. Then, when that became her residence, she assisted the staff, with the other clients and helped keep the morale up, with her energetic, upbeat, positive, outlook on life.
She is survived by a son, Donald (Glory Ann) Gordon, Lake Villa, IL; daughters, Nancy Gordon and Joyce Miller, Waukegan, IL; grandchildren, Brett Gordon, Los Angeles, CA, Babette Gordon, Alexandria, VA and Jason Gordon, Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Jack Fell; and a sister-in-law, Ann Fell; and many nieces and nephews, as well as the special people who meant so much to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Emil Gordon in 1997; her parents, Rose and Max Fell; three brothers; and two sisters.
Edith will be dearly missed by the many people who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Private graveside services will be held at Noon on Friday, April 16, 2004 at the AM Echod cemetery on Grand Avenue in Waukegan, with Rabbi Ze'ev Harari officiating. Olga "Pat" Lepsi
Olga "Pat" Lepsi, 84 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Hillcrest Retirement Village in Round Lake Beach, IL. She was born December 6, 1919 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Steve and Anna Mihalik.
Olga lived in Cicero, IL and spent summers in Antioch, moving there permanently in the early 1970's. Pat was a member of St. Peter Church in Antioch. She had been a cook at the Hilltop Restaurant and had operated the Lepsi's Resort in Antioch. She loved dancing, walking in her neighborhood, gardening and her grandchildren. On August 5, 1939, she married
William Lepsi in Chicago.
Survivors include her husband, William; a daughter, Sharon Cote of Wood Dale, IL; a son, William (Patricia) Lepsi of Woodridge, IL; six grandchildren, Gwen (Dan), Gail, Rob (Jennifer), Andrea, Will, Margie (Scott); 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Evelyn) Mihalik of Stevensville, MI; and a sister, Anne Benko of Bridgeman, MI.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Wally.
Funeral services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2004 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Monday at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83). nee Halvorsen
Laverne Isabel Morris (nee Halvorsen) a lifelong resident of Lake County, died suddenly, April 14 at Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington. She was born November 27, 1926 in Praire View (Aptakisic Road) and for all but nine years of her life, had lived in this area.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed at Ft. Sheridan. She was a former member of United Methodist Church of Libertyville and presently, belonged to St. Mark's Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Russell, of 56 years; her children, Jeffery Allen Morris of Madison, WI, Rennie Beth (Randy) Rees of Lindenhurst, Pamela Ann Morris of Skokie, IL and Russell Randal (Lesley) Morris of SC; her grandchildren, Courtney Morris, Andrea and Brian Rees and Jason, Megan and Lauren Morris; her brothers, Ralph (Lucille) and Marty Halvorsen; and her sister, Donna Gray.

Inez Olsen
Inez Olsen, 76, a life-long resident of Round Lake, passed away at her son's home in Salem, WI on Tuesday, April 13, 2004. She was born in Leyden Township, IL on June 9, 1927, daughter of the late Einar and Elizabeth (nee Ginsdorf) Ericksen.
She worked at Hepner Manufacturing in Round Lake for 25 years, and later worked for the Round Lake School District until she retired.
She is survived by and is the loving mother of, Mark (Martha) Olsen of Salem, WI and Randy (Wendy) Olsen of Paddock Lake, WI. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bryan, Jennifer, Eric, Jacquelyn, Danielle and Cayson; great-grandchild, Braylen; her brothers, Edward (Bert) Ericksen of Las Vegas, NV and Einar (Rita) Ericksen of Oak Park, her sister, Dorothy (Hank) Hauschild of Island Lake, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett "Boze" Olsen (in 1997), and her brothers, George, AL and Arthur Ericksen.

Donna R. Rine, 73, of Waukegan passed away Friday, January 2, 2004 at home.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Faith United Methodist Church, 414 McAree Rd., Waukegan, IL. Rev. David Kaller and Rev. Cynthia Zolk will be officiating.
She was interred in North Shore Garden of Memories January 9, 2004.
Virginia F. Ward (nee Bennett)
Virginia F. Ward (nee Bennett), passed away Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004 at home. She was born February 28, 1917 in Terre Haute, Indiana. On April 29, 1939 she was united in marriage to Gerald C. Ward who preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Ward was a member of the First Christian Church of Gurnee, IL, the Ruth Circle and Park Place Quilters. She loved reading, quilting, spending time at her cabin in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, and being with her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory, seven children, Diane "Diny" Bruce of Waukegan, Gerald C. "Pete" (Linda) Ward Jr. of Klamath Falls, OR, Nancy Vencevich of Dallas, TX, David (Marilyn) Ward of Wadsworth, Mary (Larry) Schutz of Waukegan, Michael (Sue) Ward of Beach Park, and Janet (Mark) Brolley of Gurnee. 16 grandchildren, Paula Fellers and Toni (Greg) Yasger, Rob (Colleen) and Bryon Ward, Christopher, Gregory and Jennifer Vencevich, Scott (Kerri) and Susan Ward, Kristy (Don) Morrison, Tod Lichner, Cory, Jeffrey (Sara) and Rebecca Schutz, Mykaila and Malcolm Ward, Ryan and Daniel Brolley; and ten great grandchildren. Her sister, J. Anne Smalley of Libertyville, IL, and nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Chloral and Verda Bennett; brother, Jefferson Bennett; and daughter-in-law, Jan H. Ward.
Visitation at 12:00 PM and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 24, at the First Christian Church of Gurnee, 6080 Gages Lake Rd., Gurnee. John M. Rutledge
Like Will Rogers, Winthrop Harbor resident John M. Rutledge never met a man he didn't like. John died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion surrounded by his family and friends.
John was born in Alabama and grew up as a farm boy in Claremore, Oklahoma with his brother Charles. He fought with the U. S. Navy during World War II, where he played a role in the D-Day invasion and in the Korean War where he served on the destroyer escort Ulvert M. Moore. John has lived in this area since 1942 when he received basic training at Great Lakes and he married
Isabele Brock in 1948. He retired from Outboard Marine Corporation in 1985 after 30 years there. He was well known as a guitarist in the area, as a sculptor of water fowl and as a scrimshaw and jewelry artist. Principally, however, John was known as a kind-hearted and generous man. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and friend to all he met. In his final hours, John reminded his family that he was a lucky man. He lived a long and happy life, served his country and loved his family and he had the best friends in the world.
John is survived by his wife, Izzy; his sons, John (Pam) Rutledge and Tom (Liz) Rutledge; his grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda, Tom, John, Todd, Jennifer, Katie and Elizabeth; his great grandson, Zachary; his mother, Flora; his brother, Charles; and his beloved Terrier, Scotty. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas in 1959.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at 10:30 AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Rev. Michael Brown of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral Home.

Harold Adkins, Jr., 46, of Chicago, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2002. He was formerly of the Round Lake area. Born December 5, 1955 in Madison, West Virginia, the son of Harold and Georgia (nee:Brown) Adkins.
He is survived by his son, Raymond Dupree of Wauconda, IL; daughter, Cassandra Adkins of Rockford, IL; brothers Gary Adkins of Chicago, IL; Terry (Debbie) Linville of Chicago, IL; Danny Adkins of Arlington Heights, IL; William Adkins of Chicago, IL; sisters Linda Linville of Waukegan, IL; Carol (Chalmer) Hock of Tampa, FL; Joanna Atkins of Tampa, FL; and Patsy (William) Jones of Mountain Home, AR; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Thomas G. August, 64, of Waukegan, IL died peacefully in the early morning of April 15, 2002.
He was born December 1, 1937 in Waukegan. He lived his entire life in the North Chicago-Waukegan area.
Thomas was a member of St. Dismas Church, former member of St. Bartholomew Church, a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council #731, Local Teamsters Union and former employee of Griffin Pipe Products.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Weege) of Waukegan; three devoted children: Peter (Mary Ellen) of Waukegan, Katherine of Chicago, and Stephen (Carol) of Libertyville; seven cherished grandchildren: Amanda, Kathryn, Rachel, Thomas, Margaret, Grace, and Daniel; a brother, William, of Gurnee; his sisters-in-law: Linda August, Dolores (Jeff) Levit, Judith Robbins, Edith (Gilbert) Walter, Sandra (James) Pritzlaff, and Sally (Patrick) Clancy; his brothers-in-law: George (Frances) Weege, Ernest (Mary) Weege, Wayne (Susan) Weege, and Patrick (Phyllis) Weege; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Alice (Butkus), September 1978 and Stanley, August Sr., September 1988; and a brother, Stanley August, Jr., February 2000.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 2002, at 10 a.m. at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset, Waukegan. Visitation will be from 4-8:30 p.m. at the Salata Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Grand Avenue, Gurnee. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.

Nick D. Booras
Nick D. Booras, 74, of Libertyville, IL, passed away suddenly Saturday, April 13, 2002 at his home. He was born August 10, 1927 in Nestani, Tripolis, Greece and came to live in the United States in 1956.
He was a former resident of Chicago and Waukegan, living in Libertyville for the past 25 years. He was a veteran of the Greek Army and a member of AHEPA and St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Waukegan. Nick was the former owner of the Little Fort Restaurant in Waukegan and the Liberty Restaurant in Libertyville.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Patricia Booras of Chicago and Sia (Scott) Booras-Francke of Libertyville; two granddaughters, Katerina and Alexandra; his brother Kostas (Eleni) Bourantanis of Greece; four sisters, Paraskevi Diamontopoulos, Panagoula Kakis and Vaso Zaharopoulos, all of Greece, Angie (Gus) Gountanis of Gurnee and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Demetrios and Petroula Bourantanis and his sister Georgia.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1217 North Ave., Waukegan. Interment will be at St. Sava cemetery in Libertyville. Martin A. Gust
Martin A. Gust, 87, of Waukegan passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Provena St. Therese Medical Center. He was born October 27, 1914 in Marshfield, WI.
Marty was a longtime active member of Immaculate Conception Parish, serving as an usher for many years and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Waukegan Knights of Columbus Council 731, an active member of the Waukegan Lions Club serving on numerous committees and fund raising projects for the blind and hearing impaired, member of Waukegan Moose Lodge #706 and a former member of the Swedish Glee Club and Waukegan Elks Lodge. He was a General Contractor in Waukegan for 61 years. Marty estimated that he helped construct 28 to 30 homes a year for the last half of the century, these homes were built to last a 100 years or more. In his years of being active in church, community and business he touched the lives of untold numbers of people in Lake County and Waukegan. He was also an avid dancer, gardener and fisherman.
He is survived by his children, Martin (Mary Elizabeth) Gust, Jr. of Salem, WI, Richard A. (Mary Louise) Gust of Waukegan, Fred (Patricia) Gust of Waukegan, William (Janette) Gust of Monument, CO and Debra Gust of Waukegan; 18 grandchildren, Andrew (Sue), Cindy (Mike) Hill, Christina (Rick) Iskara, Douglas, Jeff (Christine), David (Jenny), Tammy (Russ) Carson, Kathy, Karen, Kelly (Todd) VanHorn, Pete, Michelle (Danny) Kerpan, Eric (Nancy), Ryan, Christopher (Karry) Iwanski, Jason (Tonya) Iwanski, Jonathan and Desire; 17 great grandchildren, Andrew, Tyler, Jacob, Rebecca, Shannon, Nicholas, Trenton, Michael, Stephanie, Madison, Mackenzie, Jordan, Jamie, Jenna, Andrew, Alexander; 1 sister, Doris Reed of St. Louis, MO; 2 brothers, Harold J. and Florian J. Gust all of Marshfield, WI; also by his special companion, Linda Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (nee Weister); 3 sons, Gerald, Patrick and Danne; great grandson, Jeffrey Gust, Jr.; parents, Jacob and Catherine (nee Zettler) Gust, sisters, Anna, Francie, Catherina, Marie, Rose and Emma, brothers, Max, Frank, Gerhard and Jacob.

Jean F. Kosir, 90, of Waukegan, IL passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002 at Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan, IL. She was born in Waukegan, IL on May 18, 1911 and had resided in Waukegan all of her life. She was employed by her brother Louis at Kosir Appliance on Tenth Street. Jean was a former member of Mother of God Church and now a member of Queen of Peace Church in North Chicago, IL., a member of K.S.K.J. St. Anne's Fraternal Lodge # 127, and Waukegan-North Chicago Senior Citizens Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Pauline; 3 brothers, Joseph L., Louis, and Edward Kosir; and 2 sisters Miss Mary Kosir and her twin sister Miss Anne Kosir.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, April 18, 2002 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. Rev. James E. Merold officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Lloyd L. Larson
Lloyd L. Larson, 59, of Beach Park died April 13, 2002 in Waukegan. Lloyd was born December 4, 1942 in Omaha, NE and graduated from Zion-Benton High School in 1960.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1960 to 1967 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was married
to the former Sue Lann on September 6, 1963.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Michael Larson of Winthrop Harbor and Mary Catherine Larson of Beach Park; two brothers, James of CA and Darryl of Waukegan; a sister, Barbara Swick of CA; his mother-in-law, Mona Lann of Beach Park; and two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Darryl and Blanche (nee Hughes) Larson.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at 10 am at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Pastor Paul Gerardy of the Memorial United Methodist Church officiating.
