Adolph D. Kutzler
Adolph D. Kutzler, 88, of Waukegan, IL passed away on April 12, 2003 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion, IL.
He was born on January 25, 1915 in Waukegan and was a member of the First Christian Church in Gurnee.
In his youth, Adolph had a love for sailing and he also had held several U.S. Patents, one of which contributed to the war effort for which he was awarded the 25th Chicago Tribune War Workers Medal for an Automatic Die Sizing machine for the wire manufacturing industry. He retired from Johnson Motors in 1980 after 32 years of employment, where he had been an Instrument Repairman.
Adolph is survived by his wife of 33 years, Vel; eight children, Judy Novak of Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin, JoAnn Reconnu of Fox Lake, IL, Terry Clark of Las Vegas, NV, Gail (Richard) Mathews of Beach Park, IL, Roxanne (William) Daniel of Las Vegas, NV, Gary Kutzler of Watertown, Wisconsin, Tim Clark of St. Germain, Wisconsin and John (Jennie) Kutzler of Harrisville, Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Raymond and Robert (Bev) Kutzler both of Waukegan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; a son, Donald; as well as two brothers, Frank and Joe; and his parents.
Funeral Services for Mr. Adolph Kutzler will be at 11 AM Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the First Christian Church, 6080 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee with Rev. T. M. Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville.
Friends may call at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Road from 5 to PM on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 and from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the church.
Donations may be made in his memory to First Christian Church in lieu of flowers.
Frank Miyamoto
Frank Miyamoto, 76, of Gurnee, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital. He was born August 15, 1926 in Los Angeles, CA and was a member of St. Patrick's Church. He loved car racing and was a member of Sports Club Car of America. Frank served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Dynapar Corp. after 31 years of service.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife Terry; five step-children Curt Higgins, Lisa (Terry) Montpas, Elaine (Steve) Griffin, Sean (Lori) Higgins, and Kelly (Sue) Higgins; nine grandchildren, Amy, Michele, Matthew, David, Robbie, Holli, Krista, Alex, and Kylee; one brother James (Amy) Miyamoto; one sister Anne Marie Nakamura; nieces and nephews, Gail (Bill), Claire (Jack), Guy (Ann), Kathy, Joan (Tim), David (Terri), Susan, and Bob (Diana). He was preceded in death by his parents Shunzo and Yoshiye, and a brother-in-law Mark Nakamura.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2003 at St. Patrick's Church, 15000 W. Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth, IL. Burial will be private. Robert G. Oliver
Robert G. Oliver, 77, of Homosassa, FL, Hot Springs Village, AR and formerly Lake Forest, IL, died peacefully, with his family by his side, Wednesday, April 9 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Oliver was a graduate of Lake Forest High School and served his country faithfully as a Marine during World War II. He worked as a Carpenter Contractor during his lifetime, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, and was a Past-Commander and lifetime member of American Legion Post 264 of Lake Forest.
Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lela, and his wife Elizabeth P. Oliver. He is survived by his two sons, David and Paul, both of Homosassa, FL, his sister Dorothy Humphreys of Asheville, N.C., two grandchildren, one great grandson, six nephews and one niece.
A graveside service will be held during the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Citrus County, FL, 3350 W. Audubon Park Path, Lecanto, FL 34461.
Mary Sadler
Mary Sadler, 87 years old passed away on April 11, 2003 of lymphoma. She was a life long resident of Waukegan, IL. Mary had a passion for gardening and loved to play Cribbage. She was a member of the Waukegan Senior Center and the Illinois Dunes Association.
She is survived by one daughter Karen (Phillip) Sparkes, one grandson Wesley Sparkes, her sister Helen Washburn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dean, her sister Katherine and her brothers Michail and Nick
Donations may be made in her name to Vista Star Hospice or The Waukegan Senior Center.

Mary C. Shull
Mary C. Shull, 54, of Johnsburg, IL, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at the Health Park Hospital in Fort Myers, FL. She was born May 26, 1948 in Chicago and was a 1966 graduate of Carmel High School in Mundelein. She and her husband Jack are the owners of Shull Plumbing in Libertyville, where Mary served as President and was a member of the Auxiliary of Plumbing and Heating Contractors for Lake and McHenry Counties. A Johnsburg resident for the past 20 years, she was a member of the Harmony Snowmobile Club and enjoyed her summer home near Eagle River, WI and winters in Fort Myers, FL.
Surviving are her husband Jack; seven children, Tony (Shari) Trevithick of Spring Grove, Rick (Lee) Trevithick of Ingleside, Steve (Kirsten) Trevithick of Gages Lake, Linda (David) Meloney of Mundelein, Janet Krueger of Lacey, WA, John (Karen) Shull of Libertyville and Jason Shull of Genoa City; 16 grandchildren and her brother, Tom Schmit of Spring Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Connie and Frances Schmit and by her brother Rich Schmit.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery. Betty Lou Smith
Betty Lou Smith, 68, of Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of this area, died on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Zion.
Betty Lou was born April 22, 1934 in Chicago. She was a 35 year employee of Illinois Bell Telephone Company, retiring 14 years ago and she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was also a member of the Las Vegas Garden Club, was Past President and currently the Vice President of the Iris Society of Las Vegas and was a member of the National Iris Society of America where she was honored by receiving national recognition for the formation of an educational Iris program for elementary school children, something she was very proud of.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Robert; two sons James (Mary) Smith of Winthrop Harbor and Joseph (Michelle) Smith of Spring Grove, Illinois; three grandchildren Julia Michelle (Joseph) Lobono, Casey and Nikki Smith; two great-grandchildren Tyler and Chloe; and one sister Louise (Richard) Whiteside of Winthrop Harbor. She was preceded in death by two brothers John Lents and William Lents and by her parents Fred and Bertha Lents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Pastor Gary Hougen of Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church officiating. Joseph R. Zens
Joseph R. Zens, 90, of Waukegan passed away on Friday, April 11, 2003 at Beverly Health Care in Kenosha. He was born June 28, 1912 in Waukegan and remained a lifelong resident.
He was a former longtime member of St. Joseph Parish in Waukegan. Joe loved fishing and watching the White Sox. Prior to retirement he worked at American Steel and Wire Company for 45 years. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Beverly Health Care for the loving care that he received there.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy (Harold) Grissom and Janice Womatopolous both of Kenosha; and his son, Joseph "Larry" (Dawn) Zens of Gurnee; a sister, Jean Miks of Waukegan; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and step grandchildren; as well as many friends at Beverly Health Care.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; second wife, Muriel; a daughter, Barbara; two brothers, Anthony and Leonard "Leppy" Zens; and two sons-in-law, Leo Reasor and Dominic Womatopolous.
Funeral Services will be 12 Noon Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan with Rev. Jerry Christiansen officiating. Elizabeth M. Bauer
Elizabeth M. Bauer, 88 a resident of Hawthorn Lakes in Vernon Hills for the past 6 years, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born September 27, 1915 in Chicago and was a former resident of Park Ridge, Riverwoods and Wauconda.
Surviving are 3 children, Mickey (Suzanne) Bauer of Libertyville, Terry (Betty) Bauer of Grayslake and Betsy (Harold) McCracken of Madera, CA, 8 grandchildren, Jeff (Sara), Amy, Eric, Andrew (Kerry), Jonathan, Ann and Abbey Bauer and Diane (Mark) Mieszala; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexander and Claudia Bauer; R.J. and Mary Kate Mieszala; her brother William (Jody) Miles of Glenview.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene C. Bauer in 1996, and by her sister Mary Jane Sheets.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon, Sat. April 17 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Bobby J. Burby
Bobby J. Burby passed away on April 12, 2004 at his home in Ingleside, IL. He was born on December 13, 1946 to the late Wayne and Jean (nee Trudy) Burby in Waukegan, IL.
Bobby was enlisted in the U. S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. He was involved in the American Youth Soccer Organization, the Catholic Charities, Meals on Wheels, NICASA, and Habitat for Humanity.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Kim (nee Sarich) Burby; his son, Kyle Burby; his daughter, Kirstin Burby, all of Ingleside; his brother, Wayne "Skip" Edward of Boise, ID; his sisters, Carol Fiege of Kenosha, WI, Judy (Mark) Pasquesi of Mundelein, IL, Jeannie Grischkat of Arizona, and Mary Ann Bausserma of Wyoming.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lucile DalPonte
Lucile DalPonte, 89, a Libertyville resident for the past 13 years, passed away Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004 at her home. She was born December 13, 1917 in St. James, Missouri and was a former 40 year resident of Highland Park.She was a former member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Highland Park and a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville. While living in Highland Park, Lucile was employed by the Stevens and Garnett Clothing Store.
Surviving are three children, Ronald (Jean) DalPonte of Lake Bluff, Joyce Smith of Vernon Hills and Edwin DalPonte of Palatine; four grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel DalPonte and Lynn and Chris Smith; and her great grandson, Gavin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Angela Maddalon; by her husband, Guido in 1988; by her brothers, Albert and Angelo; and sisters, Joanna, Mary and Norina.
Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Kenneth Fowler
Kenneth Fowler, age 81 of Cadiz, KY passed away on April 9, 2004 in Grayslake, IL. He was born January 18, 1923 in Sharon, TN.
Mr. Fowler is survived by three daughters, Edith (Ray) Ducanson, Linda Fowler, and Robin (Paul) Gibson, of Grayslake, IL; three sisters, Jean Allen, Barbara Sholar, and Martha Nell Wade; one brother, Joseph Blackford Fowler; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services and interment were held in Cadiz, KY at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004. Local arrangements were entrusted to WARREN FUNERAL HOME, RICHARD S. ZAEHRINGER, DIRECTOR, 1475 N. cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL 60031.
Clara L. Haling
Clara L. Haling, 92 years old of Antioch, IL, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, IL.
She was born July 4, 1911 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Margaret (Heinlie) Haling. She was a life long resident of Antioch and in her earlier years helped her brother, Charley, operate Haling's resort on Grass Lake. In 1942 she went to work for the Illinois State Employment Security, retiring in 1972 as administrative secretary to the Employment Security Controller.
She was active with the community and was a life member of the Historical Society and the OES, member of the Antioch Women's Club, the AARP All Stars Band, Election Judge for many years at Grass Lake School and was honored in 1993 as the Outstanding Senior of Lake County.
Clara also participated in many sports, loved to travel and was never too busy to volunteer her help when needed.
Survivors include two sisters, her twin sister, Alice Waldweiler and Irene Lehman both of Antioch; her nieces and nephews, Barbara (Charles) Strang, Pete (Jeanne) Lehmann, Marge (Jim) Holem, Sandy (Renn) Jachimowski, Churck (Dolly) Haling, Ed (Jean) Haliang, and Carol (Bill) Ingle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charley Haling; and a sister, Gertrude Haling.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83) with Women of the Moose services. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to the Antioch Rescue Squad in her memory.
Christopher Hanzel
Christopher Hanzel, 43 of Waukegan passed away peacefully at sunrise on Easter Sunday morning, after a long and courageous 25 year battle with cancer.
He was born September 3, 1960 in Waukegan and remained a lifelong resident. He was a member of St. Anastasia Parish, was an avid cyclist, a black powder shooter and loved Door County in the fall, camping, hiking, rock climbing and skiing. He had worked on a Lake Michigan charter boat and also for the Waukegan Port district.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Marilyn (nee Crawford) Hanzel of Waukegan; sisters and brothers, Laurie (Don) Lindskog of Gurnee, Richard (Debra) Hanzel of Waukegan, Steven Hanzel of Winthrop Harbor and MaryJo (John) Fortin of Gurnee; nieces and nephews, Derek and Sarah Lindskog, Eric, Justin, Adam and Lauren Hanzel, Amanda and Bradley Hanzel, Hannah and Joseph Diesi and Jillian Fortin; also by a special friend, Jovita Lukban-Dwyer as well as his beloved dog, Lupo.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 16, 2004 at St. Anastasia Church 624 Douglas Ave. Waukegan with Fr. Paul Cull officiating. Nicholas "Nicky" Iwanski Jr.
Nicholas "Nicky" Iwanski Jr., 62, of Zion, IL., died on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at home in Zion.
Nicholas was born July 20, 1941 in Waukegan, IL., and grew up in Wadsworth, IL. He was a 1959 graduate of Warren Township High School. A member of the Plumbers Local #93 and a member of the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Iwanski Wehrle of Rockford, IL; one brother, Thomas Iwanski of Waukegan; one sister, Patti Iwanski of Rockford; and four nieces, Lesha, Rachel, Jennifer and Michlelle and two nephews, Damian and Kenneth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas Iwanski in 1976.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Friends may greet the family from 6:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. (847)746-1234.
Frederick M. Larson
Frederick M. Larson, age 76, of Waukegan, died December 22, 1997 at Lake Forest Hospital. He was born July 14, 1921 in Northport, Michigan, to the late Ole and Anna (nee Swenson) Larson. He married
Irene J. Vath on January 24, 1952 in Mannheim, Germany and enjoyed 45 wonderful years of marriage. He served in the United States Army for 21 years. He was a veteran of World War II and Korean conflict. Awarded medals for conduct in ground battle in the European theatre of operations. Fred retired from Abbott Laboratories after 20 years dedicated employment. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading and photography, collected stamps and coins. He was a member of the D.A.N.K. and Swedish Glee Clubs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Irene, who recently joined him in eternal companionship, beloved daughter, Renee (Dale) Flanagan; two granddaughters, Dana (Brad) Van Camp and Kelly Flanagan; one great granddaughter, Kassidy Barry; one brother, Larry (L.J.) Larson; and sister, Beatrice Priest.
