Irene J. Larson
Irene J. Larson, age 78, of Waukegan, died April 8, 2004 at Midwestern Regional Center. She was born on June 1, 1925 in Mannheim, Germany to the late Arthur and Johanna (nee Ratz) Vath.
She married
Fredrick M. Larson on January 24, 1952 in Mannheim, Germany. They enjoyed 45 wonderful years of marriage until her husband's death in 1997. She moved to the United States in 1954 and proudly became a citizen on January 3, 1956. She learned English from watching the news and reading newspapers. Irene was a daily listener and frequent caller of WKRS talk radio for many years. She loved flowers, gardening, and feeding birds. She expressed her creative side by painting portraits, decorating her home, and personalizing her belongings. Irene was a member of the D.A.N.K. and Swedish Glee Clubs.
Survived by her beloved daughter, Renee (Dale) Flanagan; two granddaughters, Dana (Brad) Van Camp and Kelly Flanagan; one great granddaughter, Kassidy Barry; and loving sister, Traudel Gericke in Germany.

Jane A. Marsh (nee Fournier)
Jane A. Marsh, age 87 of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004. Jane was born June 6, 1916 in Saginaw, MI to Arthur and Clara Fournier.
Jane grew up in Saginaw, MI and she joined the U.S. Navy in 1942. She was a member of the first class of WAVES. She attended basic training in Bainbridge, MD and received additional training at the University of Indiana, before assignment to the U.S. Naval Station, Pasco, WA. Within three years, she was promoted to Chief Disbursing Clerk. Her duty stations included Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL, Receiving Station, St. Louis, MO and Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, D.C. While she was stationed in St. Louis, MO, she met Chief Andrew "Gary" Marsh and they were married
, November 18, 1947. She resigned from active duty in 1948, but remained "True Blue Navy" , until her death.
Jane settled in Waukegan in 1960. She worked at Great Lakes Naval Base until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and a member of St. Dismas Catholic Church. She was a very talented artist and won several 1ST prize ribbons.
Jane will be remembered as a woman of honor, courage and integrity. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her wonderful spirit, generosity and heart-warming smile brightened the lives of family and friends.
Jane is survived by her three children, Sharon Marsh of Waukegan, twin sons, Larry (LeAnne) of Granger, IN and Jerry (Faith) Marsh of Davenport, IA; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Shanna, and Jameson Marsh of Granger, IN, and Bobby and Nick Marsh of Davenport, IA; sisters, Clara Marie Beach of Birch Run, MI and Mary Fournier of Saginaw; one brother, Charles Fournier of Saginaw; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Gary; her parents; and three brothers, Albert, Arthur and Henri Fournier.
The funeral Mass for Jane will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at St. Dismas Catholic Church, 2600 Sunset Avenue, Waukegan, IL. Father Ryan celebrant. PFC Geoffrey S. Morris
PFC Geoffrey S. Morris, 19, US Marine Corps, Weapons Company of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Regiment, 1st Marine Division 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, died on Palm Sunday, April 4th, 2004 in combat with enemy forces near the towns of Fallujah and Ramadi in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq.
Born at Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington, Geoffrey turned 19 on February 1st, 2004. Geoff grew up in Gurnee, IL as the big brother of five other siblings. He played football at the Warren Township Center and local high school for eight years. Geoff loved to hunt pheasants, geese and ducks, and fish for salmon and trout on Lake Michigan with his father and friends. He felt fulfilled when playing paintball in the back yard with his buddies. He was most content teaching chess, playing games and entertaining younger kids, and had built some relationships with local Iraqi children as well.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps in his last year of High School and began his training soon after graduation in 2003. He was last stationed at Camp Pendleton before being deployed to Iraq on February 15th.
Geoff was a man of deep conviction and passion for God, his Country, and the Marine Corps. He was a simple man requiring little to enjoy life. His commitment to the mission of bringing peace and stability to the Iraqi people and the region was unwavering. His commitment to protecting our Country's Freedom and the Honorable way he did that is beyond reproach.
preceded in death by his mother, Leslie Marie (Hein) Morris on Palm Sunday in 1999.
Survived by his father, Kirk S. and devoted second mother, Vickie (Vander Werff, Bisk). Geoffrey was the oldest of six children, Jennifer, Lauren, Taylor, Austin and little Dylan. Other surviving family members are grandparents, Ralph W. Morris of Lake Barrington and Virginia Balmes of Crystal Lake; grandparents, Gary L. and Jane Hein; uncles, Doug and Gary Hein all from Decatur, IL; grandparent, Helen Lundstrom of Lake Barrington; uncles, Christopher Morris of Johnsonburg, IL, Timothy Morris of Hebron, Todd Woods of Portland, OR; and aunt, Melissa Barrett of Mason, OH.
Visitation will be at Warren High School, 34090 N. Almond Road Campus on Thursday, April 15, 2004 from 3-9 PM.

Joseph "Joe" P. Nowak
Joseph "Joe" P. Nowak, of Waukegan, Illinois, died April 12, 2004 after a lengthy illness. He was born October 26, 1923 in Dubuque, Iowa.
He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps Third Division, American Legion, and the VFW. He retired from Johnson Motors after 38 years of service and was an avid golfer at Bonnie Brook Golf Course and a member of the Senior League. He enjoyed bird watching and was a master of rock design.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Julie; one son, Robert (Cathy) Nowak of Waukegan; one daughter, Paula Brown of Gurnee; grandchildren, Richard Brown, Susan Paxton, Aaron Nowak, Beth and David Doyle; great grandchildren, Emily and Ryan Paxton; one sister, Helen (Jim) Wais of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; one brother, Richard (Judy) of Lake City, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 15 from 5 to 8 PM at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME of Waukegan, 1521 Washington St. Time of service will be 11 AM Friday with visitation from 10 to 11 Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
Florence Rice (nee Harrison)
Florence Rice (nee Harrison), 96, of Gurnee, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2004 at her home. She was born November 7, 1907 in Woodstock, IL, and grew up in the Richmond-Genoa City area. She had lived in this area for 65 years. Florence had been a bookkeeper for many years and she and her late husband had owned and operated Rice's Royal Blue General Store in Wadsworth during the 1940s.
She is survived by her children, Ronald (the late Geraldine) Rice of Waukegan, Rita (Thomas) Sage of St. Petersburg, FL, and Roberta Cribb of Waukegan; two sisters, Alice McConnell of Burlington, WI, Ruth Dickson of Sarasota, FL; one brother, Robert (June) Harrison of Hazlehurst, WI; grandchildren, Robert Rice, Michael Rice, Gayle Larcom, Susan Larson, Carol Rice, Bradley Sage, Cheryl Mercado, Rebecca Sage, Kevin Cribb and Beth Cribb; great grandchildren, Stacey Larcom, Lindsay Larcom, Samantha Larcom, Andrew Larson, Will Larson, Nathan Rice, Nikki Rice and Kristen Mercado.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Rice in 1985; her parents, Orville and Beulah (nee Motley) Harrison; five sisters, Harriet Dowd, Clarice Hunt, Helen Bjerning, Beatrice Baker and Maysie Sharpe; and one brother, Lavalle Harrison.
Funeral Services will be 2:30 PM Friday, April 16, 2004 at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, with Rev. William Genda officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2:00 PM until time of services. Interment will be 11:30 AM Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Mound Prairie cemetery in Twin Lakes, WI.

Marjorie Sennholtz
Marjorie "Marj" Laird Sennholtz, 92, of Zion, died on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion.
Marj was born January 20, 1912 in New Canton, Illinois and had lived in Carpentersville and Elgin, Illinois before moving to Zion in 1946. She graduated from Dundee High School. She married
Thurlow W. "Bud" Sennholtz on June 26, 1932 and together they owned Zion Auto Parts where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Zion where she also belonged to the United Methodist Women. Other activities included serving on the Zion School Board, serving as a Commissioner for the City of Zion, member of the Zion Fire Belles and League of Women Voters.
Survivors include one daughter, Marjorie (Conrad) Schwalm of Rockville, Maryland; two grandchildren Scott (Dawna) Schwalm of Fairview, Texas, and Susan (Michael) Rickert of Wilmington, Delaware; four great-grandchildren, Dustan and Hallie Schwalm, and Amanda and Tim Rickert; nephews, Stephen (Patricia) Laird, and John (Laurie) Laird; nieces, Beth Webb of Zion, Cindy (Doug) Campbell of San Antonio, Texas; seven other nieces and nephews; one sister, Lucianna Hoffman of Zion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurlow "Bud" Sennholtz; her parents, Clement Thomas Laird and Lucy Hannah (nee Wills) Laird; and three brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be Saturday, April 17, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Pastor Paul Gerardy officiating. Anne M. Snaukstas
Anne M. Snaukstas (nee Navickus), 91, of Dousman, WI, formerly of Waukegan, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the Masonic Health Care in Dousman, WI.
She was born July 23, 1912 in Waukegan, retired from Great Lakes Naval Training Center, and was a member of St. Bartholomew Church and the Senior Club of St. Barth's.
Anne is survived by a son, Bruno (Debra) Snaukstas of Summerville, South Carolina, and a son-in-law, Thomas Allen of Franklin, WI; and four grandchildren.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno, 1987; and a daughter, Carol, in 2000.
Visitation will be 10-11 AM Wednesday, April 14 at Holy Family Church, 448 Keller Ave., Waukegan, with mass to follow at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Arrangements were entrusted to The Salata Funeral Home.
Edith Viola Zieman
Edith Viola Zieman, 96, of Libertyville, IL passed away Monday, April 12, 2004 at the Winchester House in Libertyville. She was born March 15, 1908 in Manistique, Michigan and came to live in Lake Forest in 1930. She was a retired employee of Sunset Foods in Lake Forest and moved to live in the Liberty Towers in Libertyville in 1987. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest.
Surviving are two children, Janet (P. James) Persson of Grayslake and Glenn (Rita) Zieman of Racine, WI; nine grandchildren, Kathy Zieman, Ann (Mike) Richow, Cary Zieman, Patricia Zieman, Stephen (Karen) Zieman, Christopher Persson, Eric (Tammy) Persson, Clinton Persson, Miranda Persson; four great grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Krista and Connor; a sister, Ina Roe; and brother, George (June) Jackson, both living in Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilda Jackson; by her husband, Herman on July 28, 1953; by her sister, Ethel; and brothers, Leonard, Theodore, Gunnar, Valdemor and Edward.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lake Forest cemetery. Ernest Charles Bonhivert
Ernest Charles Bonhivert, 85, of Mundelein, IL, formerly of Northbrook, IL, Skokie, IL, and Evanston, IL; born in Yale, KS on March 29, 1920 and passed away April 12, 2005.
Devoted husband for 62 years of Edith Bonhivert, nee Luxem; proud father of William, James, Robert, Richard, and Sue Kinnaird; blessed with 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; fond brother of Homer, the late August, and the late Bonnie Mitchell.
After receiving a B.S. (1942) and an M.A. in Education Administration (1951) from Northwestern University, he dedicated his life to education, serving as teacher, principal and superintendent in elementary districts throughout the North Shore. "Mr. B." was the well-loved principal of Mechanics Grove School 1970-75, where he was ahead of his time in teaching conflict resolution and creating a positive learning environment. With his wife, he authored many science education materials and the book Questions Children Ask.

Julia Ann Castillo
Julia Ann Castillo, 78, of Waukegan passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2005. She was born July 30, 1926 in Joliet, IL and had been a Waukegan resident since 1955.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waukegan and after retirement had been a volunteer at Victory Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Rev. Daniel (Gloria) Castillo of Wichita, KS; brothers and sisters, Andrea Torres, John Avila, Delphina Lopez, Lucy Gutierrez, George Avila, Daniel Avila, Joseph Avila, Lydia Avila and Ben Avila. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Miguel Castillo, Associate Minister at First Baptist Church for 31 years, in 1992.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 16, 2005 at First Baptist Church, 401 N. Genesee St., Waukegan with Rev. Keith Cerk officiating. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church on Friday, April 15, 2005 from 5 to 8 PM and also on Saturday from 9:00 until 10:30 AM with refreshments. Emanuel Doss, Jr.
Emanuel Doss, Jr., 53 of Waukegan, died on April 12, 2005 at Sheridan Health Care Center in Zion. Emanuel lived a full and passionate life. He loved movies, music and dancing. He was an avid bowler and won many trophies of accomplishments. He was also passionate about spending time with his family.
He was a member of Trinity A.M.E. and a devoted choir member. He worked at Northpoint Achievement Center for many years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thessalonia Doss; an uncle, Andrew Belcher, Jr.; and grandparents, Andrew Belcher, Sr. and Devora Belcher Grose.
He leaves to cherish his memories his father, Emanuel Doss, Sr.; his brother, Derrick K. Doss; aunts, Rev. Shirley J. Gelleylen, Yvonne Dowe and Muslimah Salaam.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2005 at Trinity A.M.E. Church, 210 South Ave., Waukegan, IL from 10:00 AM until time of service. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM and will be officiated by Pastor Reginald Blount of Trinity A.M.E. Church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park cemetery, Zion, IL.
