Gregorio O. Espino
Gregorio O. Espino, 64, of Waukegan, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2005 at his home. He was born March 12, 1941 in Mexico and has been an area resident since 1970.
Gregorio was a member of Holy Family Church in Waukegan.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maria of Waukegan; children, Cecilia (David) Neira of Bolingbrook, Lucy (Miguel) Huertas of Texas, Roberto Espino of Waukegan, Elisa (Martin) Ramon of Texas; two granddaughters; nine grandsons; sisters, Justina (Benito) Luevanos of Waukegan, Sofia (Guadalupe) Garcia of Arizona; brother, Jesus (Lupe) Espino of Mexico and by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services and Interment will take place in Torreon, Mexico.
Arrangements are under the direction of Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan.

Raymond E. Griess
Raymond E. Griess, a resident of Lake Villa passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at his home at the age of 68. He was born August 22, 1936 in Chicago, IL to the late Richard and Evelyn Griess. Raymond was a Mason for over 43 years and a member of the Lyden Laurel Masonic Lodge No. 1057 of Franklin Park. He was a member of Wildwood Presbyterian Church for over 39 years and worked for the Finn and Dreffein Co. for 30 years until his retirement.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan Griess; his children, Donna M. (David) Harms, Allen D. (Denise Tully) Griess and Susan A. (Robert) Hovorka; his grandchildren, Richard K. Leukhardt III, David L. "Scooter" Hooks Jr., Devan Ray Hooks, Eric K. Griess, Kelsey J. Griess, Edward Raymond Hovorka and Joseph Robert Hovorka; his mother-in-law, Mabel Cooper; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Richard and Kenneth Griess.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 15, 2005 at 10 AM at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL, 60030. Interment will be held immediately after the service at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights. Friends of the family may visit on Thursday, April 14, 2005 from 4 PM until 8 PM at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 33428 N. Sears Blvd., Grayslake, IL, 60030 or the Kellog Cancer Care Center, 2100 Pfingsten Rd., Glenview, IL, 60026.

Richard A. Kukar
Richard A. Kukar, age 38 of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Waukegan, IL., died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at his home. He was born September 7, 1962 in Waukegan IL., the son of Clarence T. and Joan M. (Slovnik) Kukar.
Richard was an income tax preparer for H & R Block. He graduated from Topeka West High School in 1980 and earned a Bachelors Degree in Business from Washburn University. Richard was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his parents, Clarence T. and Joan M. Kukar; and his brother Scott M. Kukar, all of Topeka, Kansas.
Services were held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Burial was at the Mt. Calvary cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Charlotte L. Littlefield
Charlotte L. Littlefield, 70, of Zion, Illinois died April 4, 2001 at her home.
Charlotte was born November 21, 1930 in Cohasset, Massachusetts to the late Phillip and Lottie Littlefield. She graduated from the Scituate High School in Scituate, Massachusetts, and the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing in Lynn, Massachusetts and was affiliated with the Danvers Hospital in Danvers, Massachusetts. Charlotte came to this area to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital in North Chicago, Illinois, and later became the Administrator of the Zion Nursing Home for many years.
Charlotte is survived by a cousin, Elinor Coughlin of Cohasset, Massachusetts; and dear friends David and Hazel Williams of Zion. She was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip.
At Charlotte's request, there will be no services and cremation will be private. The CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois 60099 is serving the family.

Earl G. Maether
Earl G. Maether, 79, of Libertyville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at his home. He was born June 2, 1921 in Wauconda and had been a Libertyville resident for the past 75 years. He was a 1939 graduate of Libertyville High School and a US Army Veteran, having served in Europe during WW II. Earl later served during the Korean Conflict, was a former member of the Libertyville VFW Post and a member of the Libertyville American Legion Post #329. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a former member of the Libertyville Rotary club and a 40 year employee and manager of Langworthy's of Libertyville.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Geri Maether and 2 daughters, Marilyn (Alan) Copeland and Linda (Julius) Perez, all of Libertyville; 4 grandchildren: Lindsay, Ian, Rachel and Derek; 2 sisters, Ilene (Roger) Lauret of Waukegan and Betty (Douglas) Fisher of Lake Ozark, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Blanche Maether and by his sister Pearl.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001 at the Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Valley Park Drive in Libertyville with Pastor Gordon Cavers, officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt.176) Libertyville. Willie L. Myles
Willie L. Myles, 69, of Chandler, AZ., and formerly of Lake County for many years, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2001 in Chandler.
He was born January 11, 1932 in Madison, Mississippi. He was a member, Deacon and Trustee of the Congregational Church of the Valley in Chandler. He was an avid bowler and had been employed prior to his retirement as a Maintenance Supervisor at Lake Forest High School for over 26 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirlee; children Ricky Myles of Waukegan, Cindy Richards-Taylor of Waukegan, Cheryl (Vinson) Tate of North Chicago, John S. Richards, Jr., of Kenosha, WI., and Crystal Richards of Chandler, AZ., 2 sisters and 2 brothers: Penny Coleman of Jackson, MS., Carl E. Myers of Wayne, IL., Dorothy Dickie of Brandon, MS., and Russell Myers of Detroit, MI., 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leah "Di" and T.J. Weakley.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2001 at PETERSON-PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan with Rev. Terry Atwater officiating. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

Merlin E. Nali
Merlin E. Nali, 79, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away April 10, 2001 at his home. He was born March 28, 1922 in Decorah, IA.
Mr. Nali was a former member of the Swedish Glee Club, the Waukegan Moose Lodge #706 and the Eagles Club. He retired from Abbott Labs in 1980 after 38 years of employment.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna, 2 children: Sharon (Bernard) Tatro of Lindenhurst, IL., and Robert (Anita) Nali of Mundelein, IL., 5 grandchildren: Jennifer, Daniel, Jason, Karin and Laura, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 brother Bill Nali of Burnsville, MN. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St. Interment will be private at Ridgewood cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. Memorials may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.

Willie Smith, Sr.
Willie "Sykes" Smith, Sr. of Waukegan, Illinois was called to glory on April 8, 2001. He was on October 13, 1928 in West Point, Mississippi. He was a deacon at Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church in North Chicago, Illinois where Rev. C. Clarke is the pastor.
He is survived by his wife, Ivy M. Smith,his sister, Claudia Towns and one brother-in-law Johnny Towns, children: Willie Smith,Jr., Shannel Morgan, Kevin Duty, Darryl Morgan, I, Thelma Jones, Kelvis Smith and Flora Williams, Grandchildren: Tiffanie Webb, Tyesha Webb, Kevin Duty, Jr., Phillip Duty, Bobby Malvo, Darryl Morgan, II and Dejah Duty and a host of brother and sister-in-laws, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Birdie Gosa and his daughter Pearly Smith.

Benjamin Edward Tilton
Benjamin Edward Tilton, 43, of Grayslake, formerly of Gurnee, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was born on November 26, 1957, the son of Robert E. and Margaret J. (nee Stoddard) Tilton. a 1976 graduate of Grayslake High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving him are: one son Robert B. Tilton; his mother Joan Tilton of Grayslake; one sister Barbara (James) Stone of Austin, TX., one niece Kathryn Stone and one nephew Thomas Stone. His father, Robert E. Tilton preceded him in death in 1982.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday April 13, 2001 at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPE; & CREMATORIUM, LTD. 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL. 60030. Interment will be privately held at Mt. Betty J. Whitson
Betty J. Whitson, 78, of Libertyville, IL., passed away Monday, April 9, 2001 at her home. She was born March 4, 1923 in Bloomington, IL. and had been a Libertyville resident for the past 46 years. Betty was a former civil service employee at the Great Lakes Naval Base and a member of the United Methodist Church in Libertyville.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Pamela Hall of Gurnee and Patricia Hart of Lillington, NC., 7 grandchildren: Toby (Robert) Sizer of Gurnee, Trina (Thomas) Rusch of Trevor, WI., Terri Hall of Delavan, WI., John (Shawn) Hall of Elkhorn, WI., Billy (Loralie) Hart of Gages Lake, Kelly (Robert) Blake of Lillington, SC., and Chris Hart of Round Lake; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Whitson in 1985 and by a brother and sister.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Avenue, Libertyville with the Rev. James E. Scorgie, officiating. Grace Yahnke Barrick
Grace Yahnke Barrick, 85, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Libertyville, died April 7, 2002 in Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, FL. She was born May 7, 1916 in Antioch and had lived in this area until 1974. She was a former member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville and the Guild of the B.V.M.
She is survived by her daughters Patricia Shaw of Scottsdale, AZ and Linda White of Dallas, TX; her sons, Jay Yahnke of Bradenton, Robert Barrick of Annandale, VA; Kenneth Barrick of Bradenton; 4 sisters Lena Dalgaard of Antioch, Rose McCord of Libertyville, Edna Barr of Antioch and Alyce Dunkin of Buffalo Grove; 1 brother Al Pedersen of Antioch; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13 from McMurrough Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville to St. Joseph Church for funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Ascension cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Anton J. Borsnik
Anton J. Borsnik, 85, of Zion, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2002. He was born May 4, 1916 in North Chicago and worked at North Shore Gas Company for 43 years.
Survivors include 3 sons, Don (Shawn) Borsnik, Steve (Mary) Borsnik and Robert Borsnik; 2 grandchildren, Suzanne and Andrew; 1 sister Dorothy Nardini; 1 brother, Frank (Carneader) Borsnik and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 13, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 305 cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Burial will be at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Donna C. Larlee
Donna C. Larlee, 89, of Libertyville died April 9, 2002 at her home. She was born May 13, 1912 in Chicago and had lived in Libertyville for more than 50 years. Mrs. Larlee was an accomplished award winning opera singer who had toured Lithuania in 1938. In 1937 she participated as a member of a Lithuanian Court at the World's Fair in Chicago and for her performance was presented a gold medal by the Mayor of Chicago. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville and the Guild of the B.V.M.
She is survived by her children Carol (Lawrence) Glickman of Glenwood, IL, Howard (Deena) Larlee of Orlando, FL and Donna (the late Tim) Collins of Libertyville; her grandchildren Jennifer (Dr. Dean) Govostis of Burr Ridge, IL and Jill (Kevin) Swan-Skinner of Hoffman Estates, IL; and great granddaughter Grace Govostis. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilmot in 1962.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13 from McMurrough Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville to St. Joseph Church for funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Ascension cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rudolph W. Lindich, Sr.
Rudolph W. Lindich, Sr., age 88, of Waukegan, IL passed away April 3, 2002 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, North Chicago, IL. He was born July 23, 1913 in Cleveland, Ohio and has been a life long resident of the Waukegan, IL area.
Rudy was a graduate of Waukegan Township High School in 1930 where he was a first string varsity athlete in football, basketball, baseball and successfully played amateur golf in Lake County. After graduating high school, he was employed by the Waukegan Wire Mill where he was a wire drawer before joining the U.S. Army at the age of 30. Rudy was in the 5th Army, Company K, 361st Infantry where he was a combat infantryman, a light machine gunner in the European Theater and fought in both the Rome-Arno Campaign and the Northern Appennines Campaign in Italy. He was awarded the European-African-Middle-Eastern Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart after the loss of his leg by a land mine in northern Italy.
Rudy returned home to pursue his boyhood interest in country western music and became a singing performer for over 10 years, performing primarily in the Illinois/Wisconsin area. After 20 years, he retired from the Vascoloy-Ramet Corp. in Waukegan in 1978.
He is survived by his son, Rudolph W. Lindich, Jr., of Wilmette, IL and three grandchildren, R. William Lindich III of Sarasota FL, Kristin LeDuc of Madison, WI and Jennifer Lindsay of Madison, WI.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 12 Noon at the North Shore Garden of Memories cemetery, 18th Street and Green Bay Rd. North Chicago, IL for further information please call 847-543-1080 The Symonds-Lakes Funeral Home & Crematory were entrusted with the arrangements.

Jeremiah Mathews
Jeremiah Mathews was born on May 30, 1936 to Sylvester and Gertrude Phillips in Evanston, Illinois. He was a life long resident of North Chicago, he attended the public school system in Evanston, IL and serviced honorably in the United States Army. He was a carpenter by trade and a loving father, son, brother and friend by the grace of God.
Jeremiah went home to heaven on April 5, 2002. He was loved dearly by family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jeremiah leaves to cherish his memory 8 children, Camille Mathews, Angela (William) Thorton-Mathews, Denise Mathews, Cherie Mathews-Adams, Reginald Mathews, Monika Mathews, Jonathan Mathews, Jeremy Mathews; 8 grandchildren, Nicole Lewis, Zaccheus Mathews, Anton Mathews, Ebony Yarbrough, adopted granddaughter Courtney Paulino, Jasmin Milton Taylor, Kyle Mathews, DeMaria Finley and 1 great grandchild, Kybri Stephon Mathews; his father Sylvester; three sisters, Zelda Mason of Evanston, Juanita Phillips of Michigan and Linda Pringle of Georgia; two brothers, Harold Phillips of Texas and Gerald Lee Mathews of Minnesota and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Jeremiah was preceded in death by his mother Gertrude; sister, Tessola and two brothers Samuel and Gregory.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2002 at the BRADSHAW & RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL, Rev. Robert B. Evans, Sr., Associate Minister, First Corinthian M.B. Church, North Chicago, IL, Officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Helen Moran, 81, of Waukegan, passed away March 22, 2002. She was born May 20, 1920 in Milwaukee, WI.
Memorial services will be held at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Ave. in Waukegan at 11:00 a.m. on April 16, 2002.

Wilhelm J. Palinkas
Wilhelm J. Palinkas, 93, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born November 25, 1908 in Bremerhaven, Germany, moved to Canada in 1951 and came to live in Mundelein in 1953. He and his wife owned the Hillside Picnic Grove on Diamond Lake for 14 years and moved to Libertyville in 1974. They later became an owner of the Lutz Healthfood Store in Libertyville. Willy was a communications engineer and a veteran of the German Air Force and after coming to this area was employed by Tractomotive-Fiat Allis in Deerfield. He was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mundelein.
Surviving are his wife Lydia and 3 children, Almuth (Peter) Jungkunst of New York City, Klaus (Barbara) Palinkas of Tampa, FL and Horst (Carol) Palinkas of Fremont, CA; and his brother Heiner Palinkas of Berlin, Germany.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 10 S. Lake St. Mundelein. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Arrangements are by the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME in Libertyville. Info: 847-362-3009. Memorial contributions can be made to the church in his memory.
