Pamela D. Carroll
Pamela D. Carroll, 44, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the Lake Forest Hospital. She was born November 5, 1957 in Chicago and was raised in Mount Prospect. She was a 1975 graduate of Hersey High School in Arlington Heights and was employed for many years at Northwest Central Dispatch in Arlington Heights. Pam moved to Denver, Colorado in 1999 and was a graduate of Denver Technical College/DeVry in 2002.
Surviving are her mother Joan Carroll of Hawthorn Woods; her brothers, Michael (Iris) Carroll of Texas and Bill Carroll of Denver; her sisters, Terry (Steve Hoyer) Carroll of Denver, Nancy (Tony) Carroll-Zimmer of West Chicago and her nephew Ryan Carroll. She was preceded in death by her father Bob Carroll in 1995.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Interment will be at Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Heights. Visitation will be at the funeral home from Noon until time of services on Saturday. Lillian M. Dixon
Lillian M. Dixon, 93, of Waukegan passed away on Monday April 1, 2002 at Pinnacle Health Care Center in Waukegan. She was born February 4, 1909 in Mohawk, MI and had been an area resident since 1938. She was a former member of the Farm Bureau.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Earl) Craymond of Waukegan; 3 grandchildren, Eileen (Glenn) Rickel, Jeff Craymond and Candis (Joel) Ramage; 8 great grandchildren, Christopher Rickel, Jennifer Rickel, James Rickel and Katherine "Katie" Rickel, Jacqueline Craymond and Joseph Craymond, Garrett Ramage and Maxwell Ramage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Dixon in 1982.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2002 at PETERSON-PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan with Rev. Dr. Gehl Devore officiating. Interment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
Clarence A. Engstrom
Clarence A. Engstrom, 95, formerly of Zion, died March 30, 2002 in Webster Groves, MO.
Clarence was born November 1, 1906 in Cadillac, Michigan to the late Axel and Anna Engstrom. He lived most of his life in Chicago, moved to Zion 25 years ago, and had been living in Webster Groves for the last 5 years. He was a member of Bonnie Brook Baptist Church.
Clarence is survived by 3 children, Carol (Wayne) McCollum of Chesterfield, MO, David (Charlotte) Engstrom of Zion and Philip (Sharon) Enstrom of Plant City, FL; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Engstrom
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bonnie Brook Catholic Church, 12085 W. Yorkhouse Road, Waukegan. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. A visitation for friends and relatives will be held at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bonnie Brook Baptist Church for the AWANA program would be appreciated in his memory.
Philip C. Hildebrandt
Philip C. Hildebrandt, age 85, passed away on March 27 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. He was born on September 5, 1916 in Chicago, son of the late Maude A. and Philip E. Hildebrandt.
A WW II veteran, he served from 1942 to 1946 in the U.S. Army, the Medical Corps and Military Government.
A life-long resident of Grayslake and Libertyville, he was a Chiropractor for 20 years. Beginning 1967, he served as Rehabilitation Counselor and Placement Consultant in the Division of Rehabilitation Services, State of Illinois.
Upon retirement in 1983, he volunteered for the Literacy Program, delivered Meals-on-Wheels and tutored Glenkirk children.
He is survived by Ursula, his wife for 54 years, and a cousin, Dorothy Ade.
Private interment took place on April 3 at the North Shore Garden of Memories.
Memorial services will be held at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, on April 6 at 2:30 PM. Friends are invited to gather, beginning at 1:30, to share the hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grayslake Historical Society or a Charity of choice.
Sarah E. Keach
Sarah E. Keach (Nee: Gray), 79, of Wildwood, IL passed away Friday, March 29, 2002 at Provena St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. She was born November 28, 1922 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of the late William Gray and Mary Stone.
She is survived by her loving companion Fred LaChance, daughter Karen Snodgrass of Trevor, WI, son, Kelvin Keach of Downers Grove, IL. Immediate family members include granddaughter Sarah Jean Snodgrass, great grandson Raven Snodgrass, daughter-in-law Dawn Keach and granddaughter Megan Keach. Surviving relatives and friends include James and Madalyn Brook, Kay Brook, Suzanne LaChance, Keith and Renee Church, Rick LaChance, Scott and Jenny LaChance, and Charles and Nancy Mahoney. Sarah is preceeded in death by her husband Dean Keach and her son Kerry Keach.
Sarah taught fifth grade at Woodland Consolidated School District, retiring in 1982. She will be remembered as a loving wife, friend and mother, a fine school teacher and a great lady.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030 with the Pastor Donald Olund of the Oakbrook Community Church officiating. Interment will be privately held. Friends of the family may visit at the Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Warren-Newport Public Library.
Clementine Koskinen
Clementine Koskinen, 83, of Beach Park died on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at Zion Care & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born November 15, 1918 in Columbus, Nebraska and has been a resident of this area for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park and she had been employed at the former Globe Department Store in Waukegan for many years.
Survivors include one brother Richard (Mary) Gdowski of Columbus, Nebraska; two sisters Esther Eberhardt and Irene (George) O'Donnell both of Beach Park; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, by two brothers Raymond and Joe, by one sister Elenor and by her father and mother Louis and Sophie Gdowski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 5, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park. Entombment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation will be Thursday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. a the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Memorial donations to Our Lady of Humility Church or STAR Hospice have been suggested.
Nancy J. Lorimer
Nancy J. Lorimer, 69, of Venice, FL, formerly of Waukegan, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2002. She was born on November 14, 1932 in Waukegan and had moved to Venice 19 years ago. She was the owner and operator of The Cottage Inn Restuarant on the corner of Glenrock and Belvidere in Waukegan.
Survivors include her daughters Jean Stevenson of Waukegan and Roberta Lorimer of Venice, FL; son John Seymour of North Port, FL; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2002 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at EWING FUNERAL HOME, 140 E. Venice Ave, Venice, FL 34285. Funeral services and burial will be private.
Sister Doris, Caroline Przybilla
Sister Doris, Caroline Przybilla, SSpS died at 3:20 AM at the Convent of the Holy Spirit, Techny, Illinois on Tuesday April 2, 2002. Sister Doris, a professional nurse, served in the Order's hospitals in Wisconsin and Illinois. In 1946 she was missioned to Ghana, West Africa. At St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois she served as nurse supervisor of the surgical department. Later she did social work among the Potawatomi Native Americans in Hannahville, Upper Michigan.
Visitation and wake will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3rd at the Convent of the Holy Spirit, 319 Waukegan Rd., Northfield. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Thursday, April 4th and will be followed by interment at St. Mary's cemetery, Techny, IL. 773-736-3833.
Sara Lynn Shaw (nee Drake)
Sara Lynn Shaw departed this earthly life on Thursday, March 28, 2002 after a long illness.
Lynn was born April 7, 1940 and was a lifelong area resident. She attended the North Chicago schools and graduated from North Chicago Community High School in 1958. She worked in nursing for many years at Victory Memorial Hospital, and was a past member of the American Business Women's Association, Little Fort Chapter. She loved bowling, camping and art. Lynn and Eddie B. Shaw, Jr. were united in holy matrimony in October of 1960, and were blessed with 4 children.
Lynn leaves to cherish her memory, her forever love and soul mate, Eddie; a daughter, Victoria; 2 sons, Eddie "Duke" and David; 5 grandchildren, Sidney, Julian, Erika, Alexis and Asia; 2 sisters, Shirlee Myles and Merle Coleman; 2 brothers, Jerry (Dorothy) Drake and Benjamin (Olivia) Drake of Cincinnati, OH; a sister-in-law, Patricia Freeman; a brother-in-law, Edward "Stokes" Hill of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her and affectionately called her "Aunt Lynn." Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanor and Benjamin Drake; a daughter, Eleanor Marlene; twin grandsons, Ryan and Bryan; a sister, Betty Hill; and 2 brothers, Fredrick and James Freeman.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with services starting at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Edward Jackson of Waukegan Community Church officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Theodore S. Soder
Theodore S. Soder, 48, of Gurnee, died at his home on April 2, 2002 following a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was a lifelong resident of Lake County, grew up in Libertyville, and attended both Libertyville and Warren Township High Schools. He graduated from Warren High School in 1971.
Ted served in the United States Navy from 1972 until 1976, then attended the College of Lake County and Illinois State University. On May 27, 1978, he married
Deborah Gill, his wife of 23 years. He was employed by Baxter Laboratories for ten years as a Production Superintendent, and then worked as a Director of Operations at LSL Industries, Inc. in Chicago until last year, when he became ill. Ted was a member of St. Patrick Church in Wadsworth, where he taught third grade religious education classes. He also coached Little League, T-Ball, and was a Cub Scout leader. One of Ted's favorite things was hosting family gatherings. He also loved all sports and outdoor activities, especially camping.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; his beloved sons, Theodore, 22, Douglas, 10 and foster son, Cody Wilde, 22. His parents, Ted and Mary Soder of Grayslake; and his paternal grandmother, Mathilda Soder also of Grayslake, will miss him greatly.
Other survivors include his three brothers, Scott of Gurnee, Donald of Round Lake and David (Christi) of Antioch; along with his six sisters, Cherie (Mark) Weston of Boston, MA, Lynn (Rich) Legner of Downs, IL, Pamela (Robert) Saam of Wauwatosa, WI, Veronica (Michael) Bostock of Acworth, GA, Denise Hughes of Round Lake Park and Karen (Larry) Hildebrandt of Granger, IN. Ted's nine nephews; 17 nieces; two great nieces; and a great nephew all have wonderful memories of their uncle. All will miss Ted's laughter, wonderful smile and kind heart. He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Diana Soder in 1963.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2002 from 5 PM to 8 PM at MARSH FUNERAL HOME at 305 cemetery Rd. in Gurnee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 15000 W. Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth at 10 AM Saturday, April 6, with interment following at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for Douglas and Theodore's education to the "Ted Soder Fund" at the Community Trust Credit Union, 1313 Skokie Highway, Gurnee, IL or to Star Hospice.
Patricia A. Christiansen
Patricia A. Christiansen, 68 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Monday March 31, 2003 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. She was born May 25, 1934 in Chicago the daughter of the late Martin and Ann (McVady) Rabbitt moving to Antioch in 1959. She attended St. Peter Church in Antioch, worked in Real Estate and was a collector for the Illinois State Scholarship Commission. On September 8, 1956 she married
Jack Christiansen in Chicago and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2002.
Survivors are 5 sons, John, Thomas, Michael and Robert (Liz) all of Antioch and James (Deborah) of Lake Villa, IL, 5 grandchildren Jenelle, Julia, Michael Jr., Karlie and Robert L. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, James Rabbitt.
Funeral Services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 5, 2003 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Charles H. DeBolt, age 42, of Wauconda, passed away March 25, 2003 at the St. Therese Medical Center of Waukegan. He was born November 25, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois.
Charles is survived by his two children Charles Aaron DeBolt of Zion, IL and Jacob DeBolt of Kansas City, MO; four brothers and sisters, Kym (Hans) Adelfang of Wauconda, IL, Chris (Sue) DeBolt of Aurora, IL, Dana (Chris) of Wildwood, IL and Joey (Amy) of Gurnee, IL; two aunts, Kay (Bob) Fathauer of Mundelein, IL and Retha (the late Bud) Moore of Round Lake, IL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Guntis Eglite, 64, of Winthrop Harbor, born in Cesis, Latvia in 1938, passed away on April 1, 2003. He served with the 82nd Airborne and worked for Commonwealth Edison Zion Nuclear Plant for 20 years.
Beloved husband of Aina and devoted father of Erik (Julie) and Ingrid (Maris) Prieditis.

Peter Jeffrey "PJ" Ferree, III
Peter Jeffrey "PJ" Ferree, III, was born January 6, 2003 and became an angel on earth to all he came in contact with. The son of Tiffany Lynn (Scott) Ferree, US Navy, Oak Harbor, WA and Lance Corporal Peter J. Ferree, Jr. of the US Marine Corp currently deployed in the Mideast Conflict.
His birth at the Madigan Medical Center at Fort Lewis, WA left a void for all of his family so far away but fulfilled the lives of his parents.
In addition to his parents, his loss is shared by his maternal grandparents, Cindy and Ron Scott of Pleasant Prairie, WI; his aunt, Susie Scott; his great grandparents, Bonnie Jean Roth of Kenosha, WI, Thomas and Leola Scott of Zion, IL and Bill and Lorraine Lowe of Lindenhurst, IL; his great grandmother, Lucille Kelly of Kenosha; his great aunt, Sue (Tim) Stoodt and Amy of Gurnee and uncle,Michael (Barbara) Lowe of West St. Paul, MN and Jennifer Lowe of Ingleside, IL; his great uncles, Michael Scott of Gurnee and Shannon and Tim Powell of Kenosha, WI; his paternal grandparents, Peter J. Ferree, SR and Julie (John) Ayres of Battle Creek, MI and several great aunts, uncles and cousins; his great grandmother, Barbara I. Ferree of Clearwater, FL; and great grandparents, James and Emmie Dillon of Marshall, MI.
He will be missed by his loving caregivers, Michael and May Cherry and their son, Theo of Oak Harbor, WA who have been so supportive of "PJ" before and after his birth and have traveled here to be with him through his passage home to heaven.

Virginia George (Gourekian)
Virginia George, 83, of Waukegan, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She never complained or let people know how ill she was and kept her life going as normally as possible. She will be sadly missed by her family and wonderful friends who continued to keep in touch with her and were so generous to give their time to visit and bring her flowers and gifts.
Virginia was born in Waukegan on August 9, 1919, the youngest of six children born to Bedros (aka Peter George) and Highouhe Gourekian. She graduated from Waukegan Township High School and Lake County College of Commerce Business School.
She worked for the government in various secretarial positions, executive secretary to the second in command at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital, executive secretary at Hahn Air Force Base in Germany and while there was able to travel extensively throughout many countries in Europe. Upon her return home, she finished her career at the Great Lakes Naval Station and retired in June 1973.
She loved to travel and visited countries throughout Asia and also Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, and Armenia where she met many of her relatives for the first time. She also traveled extensively throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Harry and Paul Gourekian, sisters Alice Thielmann, Lucille Zens and Sylvia Krikorian, and nieces, Betty (Krikorian) Rickher and Barbara Zens.
She is survived by her nieces, Marigene (Don) Kennedy, Janice Womatoplous, Judith Lynn (Harold) Grissom and nephews Richard (Meighan) Fonda and Larry (Dawn) Zens and also many great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Virginia was a devoted member of St. George Armenian Church and served on both the board of trustees as secretary and the board of the women's guild as president and also taught Armenian lessons.
One of her most favorite things to do at family gatherings was to tell stories and give advice to all her great nieces and nephews.
She was very devoted to her family as we were to her. She will be greatly missed by all of us. We would also like to thank Vitas Hospice, RN Dawn Larriuz and Virginia's caregiver Susan Tan.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2003 at the PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd. Waukegan with Rev. Fr. Haik Donikian officiating. Interment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to time of service.
