Levi N. "Whitey" Koski
Levi B, "Whitey" Koski, 86, of Waukegan, formerly of Zion, died on Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion.
He was born December 1, 1917 in Marengo, Wisconsin and came to this area in 1946. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waukegan and was a retired Tool and Die maker with Fansteel, Inc. of North Chicago. He was also a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy and he was a member of the Winthrop Harbor V.F.W. and the Zion-Benton Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his children, Sandra (Walter) Caspers of Northbrook, Linda James of Burlington, Wisconsin and Gerald Koski of Wadsworth; and three sisters, Alice Morin of California, Elma Schaffer of Wyoming and may Cuenin of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian in 1996; a son, John in 1975, brothers, John and Gus Koski; sisters, Ellen Sutton, Delia Koski and Martha Koski; and his father and mother, John and Amelia Koski.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2004 from 9 until 11 AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with a funeral service following at 11 AM with Pastor Willard Blomquist officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Louise Evans McCracken
Louise Evans McCracken, age 67, of Hamilton, AL died April 1, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center. She was born September 28, 1936 in Marion County to Sam and Norman (Woodman) Evans.
She retired from Abbott Labs and was a Pharmaceutical Tech.
Survivors include her husband, George McCracken; daughter, Thea (Brad) Nix; grandchildren, Jennifer Lowe and Bradley Nix Jr.: mother, Norman Evans; brothers, Ralph and Charles Evans; sisters-in-law, Lenora and Alice Evans; nephews, Tony, Terry, and Shawn; and nieces, Carol and Elizabeth.
She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Ray McCracken; and father, Sam Evans.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapel at HAMILTON FUNERAL HOME in Hamilton, Alabama, on Sunday, April 4. at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Danny Duncan will officiate. Burial Fulton Bridge. Visitation from 5:30-8:00 PM Saturday, April 3 at the funeral home.
Ann Waters
Ann Waters, 87, of Antioch, IL passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Victory Lake Continuing Care Center, Lindenhurst, IL. She was born January 31, 1917 in Berwyn, IL, the daughter of the late George and Zuzanna (Dubrava) Gasa. On June 29, 1940, she married
Richard "Dick" Waters in Berwyn, IL and settled in Antioch. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1992. Ann was a Charter Member of the Northern Illinois Conservation Club, which was founded by her husband, the Women of the Moose Chapter #735 of Antioch, the Lakes Region Historical Society and the Antioch Garden Club. She was a retired production supervisor for Abbott Laboratory.
Survivors are her brother, John (Dorothy) Gasa of Naples, FL; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Daniel Gasa.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, April 5, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83). Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 PM Sunday with Women of the Moose Services at 4 PM. Friends desiring may make contributions to the Antioch Rescue Squad in her memory.
Ann Barlow
Ann Barlow, 66, of Waukegan, died on Friday, March 31, 2006 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. Ann was born March 6, 1940 in Torrington, Connecticut and has lived in this area since 1973. She enjoyed sewing, camping, her pets and most of all her family.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Jim; children, Cathy Barlow of Carpentersville, IL, Jimmy (Lori) Barlow of Beach Park and Michael Joseph Barlow of Harvard, IL; four grandchildren, Bonnie Marie, Christopher, Michelle and Melissa; her mother, Gertrude Bean of Vermont; and siblings, Marge Connelly, Tootie (Arnie) Lawrence and Judy (Eddie) Klimax, all of Connecticut, Bob (Debbie) Bean and Stubby (Lois) Bean, both of Vermont, and Laura (Joe) Fitgerald of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Barlow; and her father, George Bean.
A cemetery graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Fort Sheridan Post cemetery, Fort Sheridan, IL, Pastor Dave Adams officiating.

James E. Esteb
James E. Esteb, 55 years old, of Chicago, formerly of Trevor, WI and Antioch, IL, passed away Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Norwegian American Hospital, Chicago. He was born April 27, 1950 in Libertyville, IL, the son of Howard and Margaret (Hutchens) Esteb.
Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a design engineer and worked for Deluxe Craft in Chicago as a chief engineer. He had also worked for the Metalex Corp. in Libertyville.
Survivors are his wife, Paulina; five children, Traci, Jimmy, Diane, Olga and Ricky; his father, Howard; two brothers, Howard and Dale; a sister, Patty; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret; a son, James; and two nephews, Justin and Ein.
Visitation will be held at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83), Antioch, IL, from 4 until 6 PM Wednesday, April 5, 2006, with services by family and friends from 6 until 7 PM. Carl R. Gustafson
Carl R. Gustafson, 73, of Waukegan, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Victory Memorial Hospital. He was born May 10, 1932 in Waukegan and remained a lifelong resident.
Carl served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Waukegan Lions Club, Waukegan Jaycees and the Swedish Glee Club. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for Sears for many years. He loved the Northwoods and spending time at his house up north, as well as being an avid Cubs and Bears fan.
Carl is survived by his wife, Louise (nee Apostle); his son, James P. Gustafson of Winthrop Harbor; and daughter, Cheryl (Chip) Geissberger of Winthrop Harbor; grandchildren, Casey, Nicole and Spencer; two sisters, Marian Tewes of Waukegan and Lillian (Fred) Buck of Lake Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gertrude (nee Nilsson) Gustafson.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan. Ollie M. Johnson-De Vost
Ollie M. Johnson-De Vost departed this Earthly Life on March 28, 2006. She was born on June 25, 1937 in Talladega, AL, to the late Grady & Ola Johnson.
She worshiped with the First Fellowship Church under the leadership of Rev. L.C. Luther where she remained a loyal church member until her departure.
She united with Steve De Vost on March 21, 1959. And to this union three children were born.

Ruth E. Kruger
Ruth E. Kruger, 85, of Waukegan, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2006 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was born June 12, 1920 in Skokie, IL and had been a Waukegan resident for many years.
She was a member of Trinity United Lutheran Church, a volunteer at Victory Memorial Hospital for over 30 years, a member of the church Rebekah Circle and member of Glen Flora Country Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Kruger of Chicago; and a sister, Louise Grothpietz of Des Plaines, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Kruger in 1970; three sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Trinity United Lutheran Church, 658 Grand Ave., Waukegan. Private interment will be at Memorial Park cemetery in Skokie. Helen Katherine Puzek (nee Turkowski)
Helen Katherine Puzek, 88, of Amory, MS for the past nine years, formerly of Waukegan, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2006 in Amory, MS. She was born March 28, 1918 in North Chicago and had lived in Waukegan for most of her life.
In the 1940's, she had worked at Fansteel. She had been a member of Holy Rosary/Queen of Peace Church in North Chicago and had been a member of the Holy Rosary Ladies Sodality.
Helen is survived by two sons, Don (Margaret) of North Chicago, IL and Tom (Amy) Puzek of Rhinelander, WI; and a daughter, Mary Ann Tyra of Amory, MS; nine grandchildren, Dawn, Laura, Leslie, Wayne, Melissa, Michael, Larry, Amanda and Marty; as well as 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Cele (Leo) Gomski of Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry in 1992; two brothers, Stanley and Dan Turkowski; as well as her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Queen of Peace Church, with Fr. James E. Merold officiating. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 AM until time of service.

Janet Doreen Turner
Janet Doreen Turner, age 52, of Gurnee, IL, passed away March 30, 2006 at the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, IL. She was born on June 4, 1953 in Kingston, Jamaica to the union of Cyril and Lucille Bailey.
She graduated from Zion Benton High School and attended the College of Lake County. She was employed at Abbott Laboratories for nine years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was always the life of the party and full of fun. She will be missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
She is survived by her supportive ex-husband, Richard Turner of Gurnee, IL; her mother, Lucille Bailey of Phoenix, AZ; four daughters, Sheree (Dennis) Dunn of Chicago, IL, Doreen, Camille and Dia Turner of Gurnee, IL; a son, Kevin Turner; two sisters, Diana (Minister Arthur) Banks of Beach Park, IL, Arlene (Roger) Brown of Noblesville, IN; a brother, Hubert Bailey of Waukegan, IL; a grandson, Brandon Farmer of Chicago, IL; and two granddaughters, Brittany and Alexis Frierson of Gurnee, IL. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her aunt Geraldine Lee, and her father, Cyril Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Mt. Moriah Christian Center, 524 10th Street, Waukegan, IL 60085. Minister Arthur L. Banks Jr. will be officiating and Bishop Solomon and Pastor Ernestine Smith, presiding. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM and funeral services begin at 11 AM. Interment will be held at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL. Flowers may be sent to the church on the day of service.

Helen Ann Dufour
Helen Ann Dufour, age 83, passed away Monday, March 31, 2003 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. She was a life long resident of Manchester, NH until relocating to Third Lake five years ago. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Maurice Dufour on April 26, 1945 in Manchester.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Janie (Norm) Roy, beloved grandchildren, Christopher (Sue) Roy, Kenneth (Jenny) Roy, and Carolyn Roy; and one great grandchild, Bradley Roy. She also leaves her dear sister Mary (the late Harold "Kal") Kallenberg, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Maurice in 1966, parents Nathaniel J. and Annie (nee: Bohan) Gilbreath.

Margaret I. Fields, 80, of Beach Park, IL. passed away at home on March 29, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Margaret was born July 2, 1922 in Metropolis, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell E. Fields, sister and brother in law Marie and Robert Plonien. Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waukegan. She was retired from Victory Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by six children George Fields of Beach Park, Marie (William) Stanhope of Waukegan, IL, Hazel (Craig) Rudzinski of Waukegan, IL, Lottie (Daniel) Mayer of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Laura (Jim) Abusoud of Gages Lake, IL, James (Amy) Fields of Winthrop Harbor, IL, 22 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren, several cousins and many dear friends.

Dorothy Mae Jerikian, 65, of Waukegan passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest.
She was born May 1, 1937 in North Chicago and remained a lifelong area resident. She was a member of Armenian All Saints Apostolic Church in Glenview. Dorothy graduated with the first graduating class from North Chicago High School in 1955, and retired from County of Lake in September 2002 after 15 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Michael Jerikian; children, Michael (Sylvia) Jerikian of Grayslake, Christine (John) Lieffrig of Cary and Julie (John) Goodman of Green Oaks; grandchildren, Anahid Jerikian, Stephanie and Sara Lieffrig, Jackson and Alec Goodman; her brother, Michael (Cathy) Daydif of Waukegan; her sister, Sue (Dave) Harvey of Lindenhurst; a sister-in-law, Mary (Harold) Mardoian of Lake Forest; and brother-in-law, John (Ardemis) Jerikian of Vienna, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mae (nee Lindahl) Daydif.

Melvin H. "Bud" Moon
Melvin H. "Bud" Moon, 91, a longtime resident of Highland Park, IL passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in Highland Park Health Care, Highwood. He was born June 1, 1911 in Highland Park, IL.
He worked at the Post Office, Highland Park Police Department and as Park Manager at Ravinia Festival. He served in the Army and was a Purple Heart recipient in the Pacific in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion (Past Commander), VFW, Elks and Masons. He played semi-pro football and was a lifelong, long suffering Cubs and Bears fan.
Beloved husband of more than 50 years to the late Bernanda "Bunny" Moon; dear brother of Robert (Helen) Moon of Allentown, PA and Verne (Gert) Moon of Deerfield; caring uncle of William (Julie) Schaeppi, Barbara (James) Hildreth, Gordon Schaeppi, Robert Moon, Janice (Jack) Alhadeff, Sandra (Earl) Moon, Michael (Kimberly) Moon, Marjorie (William) Connery, Richard (Jeanie) Moon, Jane (Victor) Beraun, Gerald (Karen) Lauer, Keith (Terry) Lauer, Phillip Lauer, Ruth Lenoue and Brian (Joanne) Lauer.
