Dorothea Lillian Moyer
Dorothea Lillian Moyer, 96, of Waukegan passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. She was born July 21, 1907 in Iron Maintain, MI and came to the Waukegan area in 1919 and retired from Ray Cote Accounting in 1974 after almost 30 years of service. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Waukegan.
Dorothea is survived by her nieces and nephews, Robert (Linda) Weidman of Grayslake, George (Susan) Freeman of Antioch, and Claudia Petrusky of Waukegan; grand nieces and nephews, Barbara (Bill) Wise of Lake Villa, James (Karin) Weidman of Grayslake, Gerry Weidman of Berkley, MI, Rachel Freeman of Antioch, Kyle Freeman of Antioch and Robert Petrusky of Waukegan. She is also survived by six great grand nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Moyer; parents, Oscar and Anna (nee LeClair) Freeman; brother, Robert Freeman; sister, Ione Weidman; brother-in-law, E.A. Al Weidman and sister-in-law, VivaLee Freeman.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Immaculate Conception Church, 508 Grand Ave. (corner of Grand Ave. and West St.) Waukegan. Interment will be at Pine View cemetery in Beach Park. Friends may call from 9:00 AM to time of mass at the church. Arthur G. Pierce
Arthur G. Pierce, of Kenosha, WI, passed away March 31, 2003 in Kenosha. He was born November 14, 1914 in Zion, IL, the son of Ralph and Flora (Hough) Pierce. He lived in Winthrop Harbor most of his life and was a Veteran of the European Theater in World War II. He worked many years at Johns Manville from which he retired in 1977. His hobbies included bowling, fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Bailor (1988), his parents, his brothers and sister, Raymond, Ralph, Frank, Earl, Violet Dockery, Guilford, Gilbert and Floyd.
He is survived by his children: Phillip (Kathy) Pierce of Kenosha, WI and Carol (Garry) Church of Whitefish, MT, grandchildren, Julie (Trevor) Brown of Oceanside, CA, Nicholas Church of Whitefish, MT, Christopher Church of Whitefish, MT, Stephanie Pierce of Kenosha, WI, Michelle Pierce of Kenosha, WI and a great grandson, Dayton Brown of Oceanside, CA..
Margaret Sage
Margaret Sage, 59, of Chicago, passed away Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Hospice of the North Shore in Skokie. She was born September 21, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and was a former 28 year resident of Libertyville. She was a graduate of Malvern Collegiate Institute in Toronto and the University of Illinois, Chicago. Margaret was a CPA and the retired Chief Financial Officer and Controller for Sungard Investment Systems in Hinsdale.
Surviving are her husband Norman Sage of Chicago; her sister Kathryne (Ken) Pyette of Toronto, Canada; her brother Gary (Betty) Wing of Chattanooga, TN. She was the loving aunt of Victoria Wing, Geoff (Susan) Wing, John and Daniel Pyette and great aunt of Megan and Christopher Wing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Violet Wing.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at the Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge, 5901 S. County Line Road in Hinsdale. Elizabeth Swambar
Elizabeth Swambar, 86, of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Condell Medical Center. She was born October 21, 1916 in North Chicago and was a member of Prince of Peace Church in Lake Villa. She was a former member of the Swedish Glee Club, and a member of the Catholic Sokol Society. She loved to play cards, travel and sewing. She was a former employee of American Steel and Wire.
Survivors include one son, Jim (Karen) Swambar; two grandchildren, Chris (Becky) Swambar and Debbie Swambar; one brother, Lawrence Drinka and many friends from Illinois and Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Swambar.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m Friday, April 4, 2003 at Prince of Peace Church, corner of Rt. 83 and 132 in Lake Villa, IL. Burial will be at Ascension cemetery. Ruth M. "Tad" Tegtmeier
Ruth M. "Tad" Tegtmeier, 87 years old of Waukegan, IL passed away Monday, March 31, 2003 at the Hillcrest Nursing Center, Round Lake Beach, IL. She was born July 14, 1915 in Hinckley, IL the daughter of the late Arthur M. and Grace D. (Hubbard) Evans. Before moving to Waukegan in 2001 Tad lived in Huntley, Mundelein, Hampshire and Lake Villa, IL. She moved to the Salem and Silver Lake area of Wisconsin in 1979 and was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. Before her retirement she was a cook. Tad was a dedicated friend of Bill W. and Lois. On March 10, 1945 she married
Edward H. Tegtmeier and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1986.
Survivors include her son James E. Tegtmeier of Woodstock, IL and her daughter Marie A. Tegtmeier of Mundelein, IL, her sister Grace "June" Fryrear of Peoria, IL, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gilbert R. Evans and Arthur Curtis Evans, a sister Bonnibell Saxton and a grandchild Paul Kermit Hill.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday April 4, 2003 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL with the Rev. Josephine Thompson, 73, of Waukegan, IL passed away on Friday, March 28, 2003 at Provena St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan, IL. She was born November 11, 1929 in Charleston, MO. Josephine confessed to Christ at an early age. She was a member of First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church of North Chicago, IL.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters Elizabeth "Liz" and Anna of Waukegan, IL; four sons Carl (Felecia) of Waukegan, IL, Cleo and Tom of North Chicago, IL, and Bobby of Zion, IL; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and five brothers Leather-Moto (Elizabeth) of Killen, AL, Emmite of Meridian, MS, Eugene (Anita) of Stone Mountain, GA, Willie (Mae) of North Chicago, IL, and Robert (Rita) of Wisconsin; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Leather and Ozzie Thompson; three brothers, Johnny, Cleo, and Tommie; two sisters Hattie Mallory, Alamtin Sims; three sisters in law Cleo, Nealie, and Mary; one son Arthur (Terry) Thompson; and a very dear friend Randolph Daniels.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 1529 Elizabeth Ave., North Chicago, IL. Linda M. Tisch
Linda M. Tisch, (nee Borgstrom) 53, of Lake Forest, IL, passed away suddenly Monday, March 31, 2003 at her home. She was born April 17, 1949 in Chicago and had lived in Lake Forest for the past 18 years. She was a member of the 1967 graduating class of Libertyville High School, where she was honored as the Homecoming Queen. She was also a 1971 graduate of Western Illinois University with a degree in psychology. Following college, Linda was employed at Chef Karl's Restaurant in Libertyville for many years, where she held many positions. She loved animals, but most of all helping people and in the 1990's enrolled in the College of Lake County Nursing Program. She was a former registered nurse at Lake Forest Hospital, was currently employed at the Winchester House and was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville.
Surviving are her husband of 19 years, Louis Tisch; her father Robert (Margaret) Borgstrom; her sister Lori (Scot) Goodrich of Lindenhurst and brothers, Jim (Shelley) Borgstrom of Medford, WI, Steve (Mary) Borgstrom of Libertyville and Tom (Marian) Borgstrom of Antioch and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Jacqueline Borgstrom in 1990.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday April 4 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery. Gertrude Banaszewski (nee Jankowiak)
Gertrude Banaszewski (nee Jankowiak), age 86, a resident of Spring Grove for over 50 years, formerly of Cicero died on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at home.
She was born on January 6, 1918 in Cicero to Frank and Louise (nee Sobocinski) Jankowiak.
Gertrude was a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Spring Grove where she served as Sacristan for thirty years and was a Christian Mothers Member.
She is survived by one brother: Frank Jankowiak of Mountain, Wisc.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Nathan; by her brothers: James, Steve and John and by her sisters: Florence, Gene and Pearl.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Sat., April 3, 2004 at St. Peter's Catholic Church 2206 Main St., Spring Grove.

Elizabeth Banks, age 80, of North Chicago, died March 30, 2004 at home. She was born March 13, 1924 in Bolivar County, Miss.
She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband and companion of 65 years, Ned Banks Jr.; two daughters, Bonnie Jones of Zion, IL and Betty Banks of North Chicago, IL; one sister, Mary (Robert) Jackson of Chicago, IL; six brothers, Willie (Mary) Loyd of Chicago, IL, D.C. Loyd of Chicago, IL, Namon (Molly) Stanford Jr. of Detroit, MI, Roosevelt (Cynthia) Stanford of Atlanta, GA, Earnest Stanford of North Chicago, IL, Wardell (Joyce) Stanford of Atlanta, GA; ten grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Willie and Elmer Loyd; two sisters, Ruby Lee Moore and Birdial Rush; and a daughter, Martha Bank.

Paul D. Bennett
Paul D. Bennett, age 81, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at his home in Lake Villa. Paul was born May 18, 1922 in Rhinelander, WI, and moved to Lake County in 1941. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during World War II, where he was a member of the 373rd Corp of Engineers. Paul retired in 1983 as a member of the Midwest Operating Engineers local 150.
He leaves a loving family to cherish his memory. His loving wife, Eva, of 22 years. His children, Virginia (Terry) Thompson, Sandra (Mo) Pirehpour; Stepchildren, Tina Bennett, Otis Bennett, Barbara Diaz, Janet (Doug) Hanchon and John Bennett. Twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Minnie (the late Leo) Lutzwitz.
Paul was preceded in death by one son, Paul; one grandson, Jason; his parents, one sister and seven brothers.
The funeral service for Paul will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 3, 2004 at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, RICHARD S. ZAEHRINGER, Director, 1475 N. cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL 60031. Rev. Mary L. Danielson, age 58, of Waukegan, died March 24, 2004 in Waukegan. She was born September 26, 1945 in Waukegan.
She was a former club manager of North Chicago VFW.
She is survived by her son, James Richard Danielson Jr.; her daughter, Dawn Renea Fuller; four grandchildren, Rebeca, Cody, Brittney and Reanne; one brother, James Allen; and one cousin, W.A. Sandefur.

Harry Augustus Douglas
Harry Augustus Douglas, 61, of Waukegan, IL departed from this life on Monday, March 29, 2004 at Provena St. Therese Medical Center. He was born on September 27, 1942 in Kingston, Jamaica and immigrated to the United States in 1992 where he established citizenship. He has been a North Chicago/Waukegan resident for the past 12 years.
He was a member of Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Waukegan where he attended faithfully until departing this life. He worked as a machinist in Jamaica for over 35 years, and has been employed by Office Max in Vernon Hills, IL and Gurnee, IL until becoming ill. Harry was an avid and most wonderful cook.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his very loving and caring fiancee, Elaine West-Shead; five daughters, Gloria Clark of Queens, NY, Novelett Douglas of London, England, Donette Douglas of Jamaica, Mary Richard of Canada and Dehema Douglas of Jamaica; two sons, Laurel of Jamaica and Marvin Douglas of London, England; and 13 grandchildren. Also leaving six special children, Jeremiah, Vontrae, Letia, Lashon, Edward and Delilah all of Libertyville, IL; and many step children. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews and a host of special family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jaslyn Douglas and Marvis Dooley; and special son, Joshue Smith.

Jerry Beach Drake, 59 of North Chicago, Illinois, passed away March 29, 2004 at St. Therese. He was born August 12, 1944. Jerry rededicated his life to Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 28, 2004. He was a 1962 graduate of North Chicago High School and worked for 19 years at Smith Security Company.
A loved husband, father, brother and friend has departed from this earth and into God's heavenly kingdom.
Survivors include his devoted wife Dorothy Benjamin Drake of 30 years, four children Antionette of Zion; Andre of North Chicago; Antione, U.S. Army Indianapolis, IN; Ayana, Bennett College, Greensboro, NC; and stepdaugher Nona Waukegan. Four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters Shirley Myles, Waukegan; Merle Coleman, Zion; brother Benny Drake, Cincinnati, OH and sister-in-law Patricia Freeman, Zion.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Eleanor and Benjamin Drake; brothers James and Fred Freeman; sisters Betty Hill and Lynn Shaw.

Thomas K. Gerling
Thomas K. Gerling, 42, of Kenosha, died Monday, Monday, March 29, 2004 at his residence.
Born on June 9, 1961 in Des Plaines, IL, the son of Robert and Patricia H. (Hintz) Gerling.
He was a graduate of Ripon College in Ripon, WI and received his Law Degree from the University of Illinois.
He practiced law in Illinois. In 1991, he came to Kenosha. He was a member of the Illinois Bar Association.
Survivors include his father, Robert Gerling of Prescott, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia H. Gerling on February 12, 2004 and his brother, Christopher.
Memorial services for Mr. Thomas K. Gerling will be held on Saturday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home. Interment will be private. She was born March 18, 1927 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Clinton Haynes, Sr., and India (Crothers) Haynes. She was married
to the late Marion Graves. To that union two children were born. Norma Graves was a faithful member of the Israel of God's Church, Racine, WI.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Michael (Beverly) Graves of Racine, WI; a daughter, Deborah Graves Phillips; a grandson, Derrick Phillips; two sisters, Charlotte Wells and Barbara (Robert) Woods, both of Terre Haute, IN; two brothers, Louis Haynes and Clinton (Christine) Haynes, Jr., both of Galesburg, IL; several nephews, nieces, cousins and dear family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
