Emily Mongeau
Emily Mongeau, 63, of Gurnee, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at her home surrounded by her family.
In '41 a child was born, an elegant rose with nary a thorn. To parents proud, and so you know, I'll tell you their names "Dorothy and Joe". They nurtured her to be strong, ever teaching right, dispelling wrong. Then this person grew and grew. She wanted to raise a family, too. She allowed a sailor to take her hand, knowing he may travel throughout the land. While he was far away, alone she raised young ones, both night and day. To cleanse their wounds when they fell. To get them to school, before the bell. The young ones themselves, now have grown. They all have moved, and are on their own. When we're together, and memories are shared, they all come back to the one who cared. The wife, the mother, who raised a proud clan. WE LOVE YOU SO, our Emily Ann.
Written by Donald Mongeau.
Emily was born in St. Clair MI, to Dorothy and Joseph Goodmen. She has seven brothers and sisters; David, Charles, Richard, Edward, Christine, Joseph and Mary.
Her love for life included; sewing, flower arranging, gardening, sitting in her backyard with her morning coffee watching the birds fly, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She never found a child that she didn't like. She welcomed all with open arms.
She retired from the Navy Exchange Retail System in 2001. Having served in the Personnel Department as Personnel Assistant. Upon retirement, she became the President of NERA (Navy Exchange Retirement Association).

Martha F. Douglas
Martha F. Douglas, age 83, of Highland Park and Park City, passed to life everlasting on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Pavilion of Waukegan. Born July 25, 1922 in Glencoe, IL, she was a lifelong Highland Park resident. Martha was a very self sacrificing, hard working Christian woman who touched many lives. She would always help any person or animal in need. She had a life of hardship, but persevered with a strong Christian faith. She always "fought the good fight" and finally won. She helped raise ten siblings thru the depression. She always kept her faith in God, even after losing her husband early and rearing seven children on her own.
Her firm faith kept her going through all of the heartaches, especially when the City of Highland Park took the family home that her father and husband built for their growing family. Forced to move to Waukegan to start a new life, the assimilation into a community where she knew no one was very difficult.
