Milton Welty
Funeral services for Milton L. Welty, 70, of Sullivan were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial, with military rites, was in Greenhill Cemetery.
He died at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
He was born Dec. 15, 1931 in Findlay, the son of Orrin Robert and Ida Irene Batman Welty. He was in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Sullivan High School custodian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Sullivan. He married Judith Ann King Sept. 16, 1955 in Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife, Judith of Sullivan; daughter-in-law, Cindy Welty, and grandchildren, Tara, Leanne, Jamie, Tessa and Joseph, all of Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Dr. Gregory K. Welty.

Genevieve Ankrom
Services for Mrs. Roy (Genevieve I. Sefton) Ankrom, 90, of Decatur were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Markwell & Son Funeral Home in Casey. Burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey.
The former Casey resident died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002 in the Fair Havens Christian Home.
Born Sept. 4, 1911 in Brownstown, she was the daughter of Lee and Rhoda Green Sefton. She was a former employee of the Heartland Manor Nursing Center in Casey, working as a dietary supervisor, and she was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church. She married Roy H. Ankrom Feb. 10, 1934 in St. Louis, Mo., and he died March 12, 1980.
Survivors include a son, Terry Ankrom of Decatur; brother, Herbert Sefton of Sullivan; and two grandchildren.
One sister preceded her in death.

‘Bob’ Britton
A memorial service for Robert "Bob" Britton, 64, of Azle, Texas will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 in the First Christian Church in Sullivan.
He died at 9 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2002 in his home.
Born April 10, 1938, he was the son of Wilbur and Fairy Britton. He lived in Sullivan before moving to Texas in 1970. He married Priscilla Baldwin and then married Carol Wallace in 1963. She died Jan. 18, 2001. He then married Vinnita Neill July 8, 2002, and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother Fairy Vadakin of Sullivan; sons, Bobby of Angleton, Texas, Jim of New Cenney, Texas and Shane of Azle, Texas; daughters, Becky Shadix of Gibson City, Amanda Belmarez of Houston, Texas and DeLonda Funderburk of Angleton, Texas; sister, Darlene Standerfer of Sullivan; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather and one great-grandchild.
‘Bert’ Jesse
A funeral Mass for Joseph H. "Bert" Jesse, 87, of Macon was held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Macon with the Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home in Macon in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Macon Cemetery in Macon.
He died at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002 in the Fair Havens Christian Home.
Born July 9, 1915 in Stillwater, Okla., he was the son of Harvey O. and Beatrice L. Haldeman Jesse. He was a millwright with Local Union #742, was a self-employed carpenter and was the former mayor of Macon for eight years. He was the former owner of Bert Jesse Insurance and a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He married Elizabeth C. Tomlinson Aug. 3, 1940, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Larry Jesse of Crawford, Col., Joe Jesse of Decatur, Bob Jesse of Taylorville, Don Jesse of Sullivan, Steve Jesse of Ballwin, Mo., Charles Jesse of Decatur and John Jesse of Macon; daughters, Mrs. Roger (Joyce) Wilke and Mrs. John (Karen) Redden, both of Decatur, Mrs. Lynn (Jeanne) Sweet of Moweaqua, Mrs. Mark (Lou Ann) Miller of Macon, Mrs. Roger (Barbara) Kingery of Ramsey, Kathy McDevitt of Charleston and Mrs. James (Caroline) Hoh of Lovington; sisters, Mrs. Lyle (Jean) Jordan of Moweaqua, Doris Miller of Dover, Del. and Margaret Maurer of Decatur; brother, Claude Jesse of Macon; 37 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
One son, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Mary Miltenberger
A memorial service for Mary E. Miltenberger, 61, of Shelbyville was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga. Burial was in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery.
The former Lexington, Tenn. and Neoga resident died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002 in her home.
Born June 4, 1941 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Loyd W. and Lillie Mae Hill Ballinger. She was a retired seamstress formerly employed by the Kern Mfg. Co. of Neoga and the Crawford Co. of Mattoon, a homemaker and member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelbyville.
Survivors include sons, Jim Miltenberger of Lexington, Tenn., Larry Miltenberger of Gays and Eric Miltenberger of Toledo; daughters, Janet Moeller, Brenda Manley and Carol Traxmandl, all of Shelbyville; brother, Gilbert Ballinger of Blue Goose, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials to the Kidney Transplant Fund are suggested.
Elaine Brumleve
Elaine Brumleve, 56, of Sullivan died at 3 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2003 in the Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Sullivan Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul McGhghy officiating. Friends will be received following the service. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Elaine was born Nov. 30, 1946 in Lovington, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Lillie May Simpson Borders. She was a homemaker and a member of Sullivan Faith Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Lesa M. Robison of Pontiac; son, Cory J. Robison; mother, Lilly Fifer; sisters, Joann Freemon and Karen Sampson; and grandchildren, Savanna Elisabeth Robison, Lukas Blaze Robison and Jakob Wade Robison, all of Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her father, twin daughter, Salina, and sister, Barbara McClard.
Memorials are suggested to the Faith Lutheran Church.
Marion Beals
Services for Marion F. Beals, 86, of Arcola were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola. Burial was in the Arcola Cemetery.
She died Wednesday, June 25, 2003.
She was an employee of the Thomas Monahan Co.
Survivors include sons, Stanley Morgan of Neoga and Ronald Morgan of Houston, Texas; daughters, Daisy Sturgeon of Broadus, Texas, Merna Gilbert of Mattoon, Leta Oakley of Sullivan and Linda Gannaway of Windsor; sister, Jean Carlen of Mattoon; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her husband, one brother, three sisters, three grandsons and four great-great-grandsons.
Lester Cavner
Services for Lester D. Cavner, 85, of Sullivan were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial with military rites was in the Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
He died at 3:05 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2003 in the Eastview Terrace Nursing Home in Sullivan.
Born July 23, 1917 in Republic, Mo., he was the son of Frank and Bess Chastain Cavner. He was in the Navy during World War II and was a 1948 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Arts & Sciences. He was a retired funeral director for the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home in Decatur and held a license for the states of Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana and Puerto Rico. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He married Beverley Emogene Bullock Oct. 25, 1967 in Puerto Rico, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Damon T. Cavner of Decatur; stepsons, Roger Bullock of Mattoon and Robert Bullock of Decatur; daughter, Melinda Walker of Billings, Mont.; stepdaughter, Bonnie L. Spaugh of Stockton, Cal.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
One sister and one brother preceded him in death.
