Rhea Boliek
Graveside services for Rhea Frank Boliek, 93, of Decatur were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Graceland Cemetery in Decatur with the J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 20, 1909 in Bethany, he was a son of William T. and Laura Bushart Boliek. He was a retired molder for CB & Q Factory. He married Daisey Fisher June 16, 1928 in Bethany, and she died in 1978.
Survivors include daughter, Marjorie M. Eaton and Barbara C. Bock, both of Decatur; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Four sons, two sisters, three brothers and one grandson preceded him in death.
Mrs. Roman Borkholder
Services for Mrs. Roman (Bertha Miller) Borkholder, 74, of Arthur were held at 9 a.m. Friday in the family residence in rural Arthur. Burial was in the Otto Cemetery.
She died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Born Nov. 30, 1927 in Arthur, she was the daughter of Herbert E. and Nancy Kauffman Miller. She retired from the Country Fruit Shed in Arthur and was a member of the Old Order Amish Faith. She married Roman Borkholder in 1952, and he survives.
Other survivors include sons, Mervin Borkholder of Arthur, Mervin Borkholder of Bloomington, John Borkholder of Napanee, Ind., Herb Borkholder of Shipshewana, Ind. and Lynn Borkholder of Arcola; daughter, Ruby Borkholder of Arthur and Judy Diener of Arthur; brothers, Henry Miller of Arthur and Willis Miller of Milroy, Ind.; sisters, Martha Otto of Humboldt, Katie Miller of Arthur and Ruby Hochstetler of Sullivan; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
One sister, one brother and one grandchild preceded her in death.
Irene Chrans
Memorial services for Mrs. Jack (Irene Hutchens) Chrans, 82, of Decatur will be held at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) in the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes.
She died Sunday, June 23, 2002 in her home.
Born Aug. 10, 1919 in Decatur, she was the daughter of Tad and Martha Combs Hutchens. She was a member of the Kiwaniennes, the Grace United Methodist Church and the church’s M&M class. She married Jack Chrans, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Mrs. Robert (Pamela I.) Reeves of Lovington, William S. "Bill" Ridgely of Harlan, Iowa; sisters, Leam Ponewash and Joyce Bridges, both of Decatur, and Jackie Floyd of Florida; brothers, Robert Hutchens of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Gael Hutchens of Mission, Kan.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Albert Helmuth
Services for Albert D. Helmuth, 69, of Arthur were held at 9 a.m. Saturday in the family residence in rural Arthur. Burial was in the Otto Cemetery in rural Arthur with the Edwards Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He died at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in his home.
Born June 17, 1933 in Douglas County, he was the son of David and Magdalena Borntrager Helmuth. He was a retired farmer, former owner of Helmuth Sheet Metal and Repair and a member of the Old Order Amish Faith. He married Mary Miller in 1953, and she died in 2000.
Survivors include sons, Ernest Helmuth of Newaygo, Mich. Mervin, Stanley, Larry and Willard Helmuth, all of Arthur, Glen Helmuth of Belvidere, Tenn. and David Helmuth of Arcola; daughter, Betty Helmuth of Arthur; brothers, Adlai and Omer Helmuth, both of Arthur, and Marvin Helmuth of Sullivan; sisters, Elmina Herschberger of Arthur; 34 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One sister and three grandchildren preceded him in death.
Mrs. Edward Imboden
Services for Mrs. Edward (Dorothy M. Grabb) Imboden, 80, of Decatur were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur.
She died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 in Heritage Manor in Mt. Zion.
Born May 15, 1922 in Bethany, she was the daughter of Dr. E.A. (DVM) and Etha Creech Grabb. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, VFW and Elks Auxiliary. She was also a past president of the Junior Woman’s Club and the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Courtsiders support group for the University of Illinois women’s basketball. She worked at Millikin Bank, Standard Oil and Adams School as a lunch supervisor. She married Edward P. Imboden Feb. 29, 1948 in Decatur, and he survives.
Other survivors include a son, Edward Doug Imboden of Decatur; and daughter, Mrs. Frank (Jill) Sobottka of Eagle River, Alaska.
One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
Memorials to the American Legion Scholarship Fund or the First United Methodist Church Building Fund are suggested.
Tom Shaffer
Memorial services, with military rites, for Tom L. Shaffer, 61, of Camargo were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) in the Joines Funeral Home in Villa Grove.
He died Friday, June 21, 2002.
He retired from Kraft Foods, was an Army veteran and a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include a son, Andy of Sullivan; daughter, Ann Shaffer of Markleysburg, Pa.; brothers, Dick and Dan, both of Sparks, Nev.; sister, Rena Cain of Tuscola; and four grandchildren.
Memorials to Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever or the Provena Medical Center Hospice in Urbana are suggested.
Wanda Hall-Spychaj
Services for Wanda L. Hall-Spychaj, 66, of Sullivan were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.
She died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Born Sept. 28, 1935 in Mattoon, she was a daughter of Basil and Martha Ward England. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge and the Kindred Spirits Club, all in Sullivan.
Survivors include a son, Bill Hall of Copperas Cove, Texas; stepson, Donald Hall of Dade City, Fla.; daughters, Julie Seals of Robinson and Lori Hall of Champaign; stepdaughter, Carolyn Smith of Mattoon; sisters, Doris Horn and Olene Hunter, both of Sullivan; and four grandchildren.
One sister preceded her in death.

Helen Bledsoe
Services for Mrs. Donald (Helen Virginia Mitchell) Bledsoe, 82, of Decatur were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003 in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial was in the Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany.
She died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2003 in the McKinley Court Nursing Home in Decatur.
Helen Virginia Bledsoe was born Feb. 11, 1921 in Bethany, the daughter of John Lewis and Lola Bushart Mitchell. She was a retired school teacher for Decatur School District #61. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur. She was a life-long member of the Macon Historical Society, Eastern Star and Amaranth of Decatur. She married Donald Eugene Bledsoe Nov. 14, 1953, and he preceded her in death Feb. 10, 1999.
Mrs. Bledsoe is survived by her stepson, Terry Sr. and wife Debra Bledsoe of Decatur; stepdaughter, Donna and husband Carroll Sperry of Decatur; step grandchildren, Kent and wife Christine Sperry, Kara Sperry Nathan and Lindy Bledsoe, all of Decatur, and Terry Jr. of Fresno, Cal.; two step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Norma and husband Kenneth A. Carter of Decatur and Harriett James and husband Bill of Shelbyville.
She was preceded by her parents and husband.
