Graveside services for Tom G. Marshall, 50, of Bethany were held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Marrowbone Township Cemetery with the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Bethany in charge of arrangements.
He died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, May 4, 2003 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Tom was born April 6, 1953 in Decatur, the son of Dale F. and Louise Graven Marshall. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bethany. He married Jeri Kay Hood Aug. 17, 1974 in Arthur.
He is survived by his mother; wife, Jeri; son, Curt Marshall of Bethany; daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Andi M.) McArdle of Shakopee, Minn.; and sister, Nina Mueller of Lena.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Frederick.
Memorials to the First Christian Church in Bethany are suggested.
Michael Probus Sr.
Services for Michael Eugene Probus Sr., 50, of Sullivan were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in the Keller Cemetery in Lovington.
He died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, May 4, 2003 in his home.
Michael was born May 13, 1952 in Monticello, the son of J.L. and Audrey Benton Probus. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Sullivan. He enjoyed dirt track, NASCAR racing, auctions and demolition derbies, and he loved his truck.
Michael is survived by his father; stepmother, Lynn Probus; his sons, Mike Probus Jr. of Sullivan and Kurtus Doss of Lovington; daughter, Mrs. Chad (Amber) Matheson of Sullivan; grandchildren, Bailey, Moranda and Ayden Matheson and Phoenix Probus; brothers, Richard (Linda) Probus of Sullivan and Jeff (Monica) Probus of Decatur; sisters, Mrs. Tom (Cathy) Strohl of Neoga and Mrs. Greg (Becky) Hill and Mrs. Harold (Lisa) Garmon, both of Lovington; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family; special friends, Cheryl and Tod Doss, Karry and Marcia Smith and Kathy Hall.
He was preceded in death by his mother, maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents, Ruby and Robert Probus and Joe and Kate Benton, and a brother, Robert.
Memorials in care of the family are suggested.
‘Chuck’ Sanders
Funeral services for Charles “Chuck” Sanders Jr., 76, of Sullivan were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with the Rev. Dr. Garry Gromley officiating. Burial was in the Arcola Cemetery.
He died Saturday morning, May 3, 2003 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Chuck was born May 22, 1926 in Arcola, the son of Charles R. and Okal M. Sexton Sanders. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the Philippines, was a member of the Sullivan First United Methodist Church, Sullivan American Legion Post #68, Arthur Masonic Lodge #825, AF&AM, had served as East Nelson Town Clerk, attended the Julian School and graduated from Arcola High School. He married Patricia J. Black Jan. 30, 1947 in Arcola.
Chuck was elected to the Sullivan Community Unit School Dist. No. 300 Board of Education in 1963, served for 15 years and was board president from 1973 to 1978. Chuck was instrumental in forming a local steering committee in 1966 that led to the development of Junior College Dist. #517 that included Effingham, Fayette, Moultrie and Shelby counties. In 1972 he helped establish Who’s Who and Hall of Fame to honor Sullivan alumni, and the Marvin Rice Scholarship in 1974.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia J. “Pat” Sanders of Sullivan; sons, Stan C. Sanders of Coral Springs, Fla., Greg R. Sanders and his wife Debbie of Sullivan; brother, John Sanders and his wife Norma of Starke, Fla.; and grandchildren, Andrew D. Sanders, Patrick C. Sanders, Phillip N. Sanders and Emilie W. Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial for Galin Eugene and Sebastain Kirk Berg, infant twin sons of Shanna Leach and Benjamin Berg of Lovington, was held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wenona with the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Wenona.
They died early Thursday morning, May 1, 2003 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
They were born May 1, 2003 in Springfield.
Survivors include their parents; grandparents, Michelle Berg of Lovington, Bruce Berg of Des Moines, Iowa and Theresa Davis of Lovington; great-grandparents, Anita Breyne of Rutland, Ron and Joyce Berg of Eagle Grove, Iowa and Joe and Joan Davis of Lovington.
Pauline McGregor
Services for Pauline McGregor, 81, of Oakland were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Taber Funeral Home in Oakland. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.
She died at 12:25 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2003 in the Boxwood Healthcare Center in Newman.
Born May 7, 1921 in rural Kansas, she was the daughter of Walter E. and Carrie Hall Wright. She was a member of the Antioch Separate Baptist Church. She married Marion McGregor June 29, 1940, and he died June 11, 1999.
Survivors include sons, Myron of Oakland, Lowell of Lovington and Lyle of Hume; daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Kay) Loveall of Effingham; sister, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Daugherty of Mattoon; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, six sisters and two grandchildren preceded her in death.

Glen Plummer
Glen Witters Plummer, 88, of Mattoon died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003 in his home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Buck Grove Community Church in rural Mattoon with visitation from 5 to 8 tonight (Wednesday) in the Schilling Funeral Home in Mattoon. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Born Nov. 14, 1914 in Moultrie County, he was a son of Elli Otis and Nora Anna Witters Plummer. He farmed for most of his life and was also formerly employed by the New York Central Railroad, Illinois Dept. of Transportation and the IC-CORPS. He retired as custodian with Community Unit 2 schools. He was a member of Odd Fellow Lodge #260 and the Coles County Farm Bureau. He married Sarah Frances Bailey Sept. 19, 1935, and she died April 30, 1981.
Survivors include sons, Richard Plummer of Trowbridge, Gerald Plummer of Catawifca, Mo., Robert Plummer of rural Mattoon, Glen Plummer of rural Martinsville and Kevin Plummer of Charleston; daughters, Sheryl Brown and Mrs. Richard (Jeanne) Farris, both of Rantoul, Mrs. Pink (Gayle) Golden of rural Effingham and Mrs. William (Anna) King of Burlington, Iowa; brother, Paul Plummer of Charleston; sister, Ruth Gramblin of Sullivan; 34 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, one infant daughter, one infant son, two granddaughters, and one great grandson.

‘Bertie’ Randolph
Funeral services for Alberta J. “Bertie” Randolph, 82, of Arthur were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home in Atwood. Burial was in the Cartwright Cemetery in rural Tuscola.
She died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2003 in the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Born Aug. 26, 1920 in Douglas County, she was the daughter of Harry and Nellie May Abercrombie Randolph. She was a homemaker and former member of the Cartwright United Methodist Church in rural Tuscola.
She is survived by a sister, Charlene Mayhall of Sullivan.
