Pearl Fleming
Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas (Pearl Mathias) Fleming, 89, of Lovington were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with the Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Burial was in the Keller Cemetery in Lovington.
She died at 6:43 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Pearl was born Oct. 26, 1913 in Allenville, the daughter of Sheridan and Effie Blackwell Mathias. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lovington Christian Church. She married Thomas W. Fleming June 25, 1932 in Sullivan, and he preceded her in death April 29, 1991.
Surviving are her sons, Lanny Fleming of Bethany and Thomas G. Fleming of Wauconda; daughter, Judy Elzy of Lovington; half sister, Nancy Dyer of Mellott, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, William G. “Bill” Fleming; daughter, Janet Wilson; one sister, one half sister; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Memorials are suggested to the Lovington Christian Church or Lincolnland Visiting Nurses.
John Willey
Services for John D. Willey, 87, of Lovington were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hilligoss-Shrader Funeral Home in Atwood. Burial was in the Hammond Cemetery with military rites by James Reeder American Legion Post 770.
He died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Born Oct. 22, 1915 in Atwood, he was the son of Charles C. and Alma Edith Day Willey. He was a retired farmer, having farmed in the Atwood and Lovington area for many years. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of James Reeder American Legion Post 770 in Atwood and a former member of the Pierson Grain and Supply Co. He married Berna Braden Batchelder Jan. 22, 1955 in Decatur, and she survives.
Other survivors include stepsons, Michael Batchelder of Cloverdale, Cal. and David Batchelder of Richland, Mo.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Memorials to the Friendship Hill Retirement Community in Lovington are suggested.
Marcia Fleming
LOVINGTON - Funeral services for Marcia L. Fleming, 44, of Champaign were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Reed Funeral Home in Lovington with Pastor Rodney Houser officiating. Burial was in the Keller Cemetery in Lovington.
The former Lovington resident died at 12:38 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Marcia was born Jan. 5, 1959 in Decatur, the daughter of William “Bill” and Irene Troxell Fleming. She was a licensed counselor for ABC Counseling in Decatur and attended the Lovington First Church of God.
Survivors include her mother, Irene Fleming; brother, Steve Fleming and his wife Jayme; and nephew, Aaron Fleming, all of Lovington; several aunts, uncles and cousins and her dog, Kali.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, William “Bill” Fleming.
Memorials to the Lovington Ambulance Service are suggested.
Rolf Sandrisser
Rolf K. Sandrisser, 72, of Sullivan died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 in the Sullivan Health Care Center in Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan with visitation from 6 to 8 tonight (Wednesday) Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.
He was born March 5, 1931 in Massenbach, Germany, the son of Ludwig and Marie Boger Sandrisser. He was a retired owner and barber of Ralph’s Barber Shop in Sullivan and a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Sullivan. He married Ruth Miltenberger Sept. 18, 1952 in Schluchtern, Germany, and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Heidi Young of Dewitt, Mich., Evelyn Taylor of Sullivan and Diane Pearl of St. Louis, Mo.; brothers, Kurt Sandrisser of Ashmore and Willie Sandrisser, Gunther Sandrisser and Klaus Sandrisser, all of Germany; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

‘Judy’ Butt
Judith Ann “Judy” Butt, 56, of Effingham died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Lockart & Sons Funeral Home in Beecher City with visitation from 6 to 8 tonight (Wednesday). Burial will be in the Tipsword Cemetery in Beecher City.
She was a former employee of Bobbers Truck Stop.
Survivors include sons, Michael Gene of Funkhouser and Douglas Lee of Ina; father, Robert Dale of Sullivan; brothers, Glen of Decatur, Bobby, Doug and James, all of Sullivan, and Jerry of Tennessee; sisters, June of Charleston, Janie Davis of Tampa, Fla. and Connie Cook of Arcola; one grandchild; and five step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Wayne Hagen
Services for K. Wayne Hagen, 67, of Bethany were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) in the Free Methodist Church in Bethany with the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Bethany in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the Moultrie County Memorial Park with military rites.
Born Sept. 23, 1935 in Clay County, he was the son of Kermit R. and Veneta P. Smith Hagen. He was in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Bethany American Legion. He married Doris Sutton Oct. 22, 1960 in Bethany, and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother; son, Doug Hagen of Findlay; brothers, Bob Hagen, Rodger Hagen and Larry Hagen, all of Louisville, and Darrell Hagen of Farina; sisters, Barbara Brainard of Pittsburg, Adeline Kincaid of Louisville, Joyce Diemal of Lebanon, Tenn. and Kathryn Brown of Springfield; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials in care of the family are suggested.
Opal McMaster
Opal Marie McMaster, 74, of Hemet, Cal. died at 6 a.m. Feb. 19, 2003 in the Hemet Valley Medical Center.

Harold Montgomery
Services for Harold Wayne Montgomery, 55, of Dix were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington. Burial wth military rites was in the Hewitt Cemetery in Lovington.
The former Lovington resident died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 in the University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Born Nov. 11, 1947 in Decatur, he was the son of John M. and Vera C. Kinkade Montgomery. He was a career Air Force man in the computer telecommunications field. He married Damaris J. Rodriguez Dec. 17, 1999 in Rockville, Md., and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Bruce A. Montgomery of California and Bret Montgomery of Cypress, Cal.; daughter, Belinda Schreiber of Hampton, Va.; brother, John Eldon Montgomery of Atwood; sisters, Vera Eleanor Burrell of Mattoon and Karen Sue Davis of Cleona, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.
