Mrs. Reuben Nave
Services for Mrs. Reuben (Lucille Alberta Brown) Nave, 72, of Decatur were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Seitz Funeral Home in Moweaqua. Burial was in the Westside Cemetery in Moweaqua.
She died at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 in her home.
Born June 13, 1930, she was the daughter of John and Mary Smith Brown. She was the adopted daughter of Oscar and Charity McClain. A volunteer for the March of Dimes, Heart Assn., Arthritis Foundation and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, she was a member of the Morningside Church of Christ and served as a Sunday school teacher in Moweaqua. She married Reuben A. Nave Aug. 12, 1949 in Piggott, Ark., and he survives.
Other survivors include sons, David Nave of Moweaqua and William Nave and James Nave, both of Decatur; daughters, Linda Nave of Decatur, Mrs. Dan (Elizabeth) Powless of Bethany and Mrs. Terry (Brenda) Helm, Virginia Sloan and Mrs. Bruce (Lila) Reidelberger, all of Decatur; brothers, Larry Brown of Yale and John McClain of Altamont; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
One daughter, two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Martha Thompson
Services for Martha Fern Thompson, 94, of Sullivan were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Illinois Masonic Home Chapel in Sullivan with the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Windsor Cemetery.
The former Windsor resident died at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002 in the Illinois Masonic Home in Sullivan where she had resided since February 1992.Born Aug. 1, 1908 in Gays, she was a daughter of Michael and Pearl Curry Cullen. She was a member of the Windsor Christian Church. She married Arthur Dean Thompson Sept. 20, 1930, and he died April 20, 1970.
Survivors include sisters, Louise Robinson of Heartland Christian Village in Neoga and Mrs. Edmund (Mildred) Ledbetter of Windsor.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, one of which was her twin.
Memorials to the Illinois Masonic Home Endowment Fund are suggested.
Sylvia Powell
Services for Mrs. Ralph (Sylvia Marie Hospodka) Powell, 90, of Sullivan were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Leonard Moore officiating. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.
She died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Sylvia was born May 2, 1912 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Rosie Vasharta Hospodka. She was a Western Electric secretary in Chicago for more than 20 years and was a member of the Jonathan Creek Christian Church and Moultrie County Home Extension. She was a charter member of the Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society and the American Bell Assn. International, Inc. She married Ralph Powell Oct. 7, 1950 in Oak Park, and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1994.
Surviving are her nephew, Richard Peska of Bridgeview, and nieces, Mrs. Wilbert (Blanche) Pesek of Orange, Cal. and Mrs. Gil (Marian) Crawford of Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and a sister.

Mrs. David Simpson
Mrs. David (Mary Lou Donaker) Simpson, 71, of Altamont died at 11:53 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 in St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral services for the former Lovington resident will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery in Lovington.
She was born Nov. 4, 1930 in Moultrie County, a daughter of John H. and Essie M. Howe Donaker. She married David R. Simpson Dec. 16, 1951 in Sullivan.
She is survived by her husband David of Altamont; sons, Jeffrey Simpson and wife Terri of Altamont, Patrick Simpson and wife Susan of Willow Hill and Roger Simpson of Lovington; sister, Doris Grady and husband Harry of Lovington; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Memorials to the Altamont Public Library are suggested.
Mildred Bolsen
Services for Mrs. "Jack" (Mildred I. King) Bolsen, 90, of Bement were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Roux-Hinds Funeral Home in Bement. Burial was in the Hammond Cemetery in Hammond.
She died at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Born Aug. 20, 1912 in Mode, she was the daughter of Tom and Pearl Riley King. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bement, the Christian Women’s Fellowship and Piatt County Home Extension. She married John A. "Jack" Bolsen May 25, 1938 in St. Louis, Mo., and he died Oct. 10, 1998.
Survivors include a son, Glenn E. Bolsen of Decatur; daughters, Barbara Fuqua of Bement and Linda Bolsen of Denver, Col.; sister, Velva Taylor of Lovington; 21 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
One son one daughter, one granddaughter and four brothers preceded her in death.

Frank Burcham
Services for Frank R. Burcham, 69, of Decatur were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the McMullin-Young funeral Home in Lovington. Burial was in the Hewitt Cemetery in Lovington.
He died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2002 in his home.
Born Dec. 4, 1933, he was the son of Joseph H. and Edith Marie Van Sickle Burcham. He was a retired engineering foreman at Decatur Memorial Hospital. He married Laurice H. Denier May 21, 1953 in Kirksville, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Mark A. Burcham of Decatur; daughter, Frances L. Freeman of Vancouver, Wash.; brothers, Henry Burcham of Sullivan, Fred Burcham of Lewiston, Ida., Jack Burcham of Decatur and Joe Burcham Jr. of Lexington, Ky.; sister, Betty Hopkins of Waynesville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

Ethel Buxton
Services for Mrs. Wilbur (Ethel Riddle) Buxton, 91, of Charleston were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bushton Christian Church in Bushton. Burial was in the Mackville Cemetery in Atwood with the Adams Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
She died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 in her home.
Born Dec. 22, 1910 in Lebanon, Ind., she was a daughter of Stephen Andrew and Nora Wildman Riddle. She was a member of the Bushton Christian Church and was active in the Charleston Senior Citizens Center through RSVP. She married Wilbur R. Buxton Jan. 22, 1930, and he died Feb. 25, 1961.
Other survivors include sons, Edwin Dale Buxton and Stephen Charles Buxton, both of Charleston, Robert Duane Buxton of Decatur and Samuel David Buxton of Sullivan; daughter, Mrs. Gaylord (Joan) O’Bryan of Pesotum; sister, Betty Gilmore of Tuscola; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
One son and three brothers preceded her in death.
Memorials to the Bushton Christian Church are suggested.
Howard Christy
Services for Howard Chandler Christy, 92, of Payson, Ariz. were held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Payson United Methodist Church in Payson with the Messinger Payson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Mountain Meadows Memorial Park in Payson.
He died Oct. 4, 2002 in Payson.
Born Aug. 25, 1910 in Decatur, he was a member of the Payson United Methodist Church, and he graduated from Sullivan High School and farmed in the Sullivan and Mattoon areas in the 1930s and 1940s. He married Mildred Aug. 21, 1977, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Dennis Christy of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Ted Christy of Glendale, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Karen Beares of Denton, Texas; sister, Gladys Reedy of Naples, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
