Retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1993 after 38 years. Member of the Teamsters Union. Veteran of the United States Air Force. Served in the Korean Conflict.
Funeral Services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, on Monday, March 18, 2002 at 11:00 AM. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Illinois AIDS Administration would be appreciated. Visitation Monday from 10:00 AM until time of Services.

David G. Knutson
Age 72, of Channahon passed away Friday, March 15, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.
Survived by his wife, Caroline (nee LeRette) Knutson; a son, Kurt (Lori) Knutson of Plainfield; and a daughter, Karen (Jim) Ulasovich of Crystal Lake; his mother, Grace Knutson of Ottawa; and four grandchildren, Andrew and Julie Knutson, Chad Vanourny and Adam Ulasovich; a brother, Tom Knutson of Ottawa and a sister, Kathi Vicini of Huntersville, NC. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his father, T. R. Knutson; and two brothers, John and James Knutson.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the Air Force. Raised in Ottawa, IL and a graduate of Ottawa High School. He had resided in Channahon for the past 32 years. After his retirement from the trucking industry, he enjoyed his part-time job at the Heritage Bluffs Golf Course.

Age 82. At rest Thursday, March 14, 2002 at her late residence. born in Joliet and a resident of Crest Hill the past 25 years. Graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1938. Retired from Peoples Outfitting Furniture Store following 30 years of service. Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies of the Moose Lodge #84, American Ex-Prisoners of War and the Senior Citizens Association.
Surviving are her two daughters, Sandra L. (Louis) Vercelote of Joliet and Marilyn (Paul) Vollmer of Joliet; six grandchildren, Gina (Kevin) Feehan, Amy (Greg) Drake, Craig (Chrissy) Vercelote, Jennifer (Mark) Ethridge, Michael (fiancee, Paula Kirscher) Schwarz and Paul (Chrissie Sexton) Vollmer; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Morrow of Jackson, MS. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Moore; daughter, Frances Ann Simonetti; a sister, Maxine O'Reilly; a brother, Earl Morrow.

At rest Friday, March 15, 2002 at her late residence. born in Argo, IL and a resident of Joliet since 1955. A graduate of Northwestern University. She was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast.
Surviving are her four children, Kathy (Bob) Dockendorf of Joliet, Joan (Steve) Sinkler of Morris, Harry Pfaltzgraff of Joliet and Peggy (Art) Holden of Plainfield; five grandchildren, Bobby Dockendorf, Jill Dockendorf (Jeff) Ftacek, Kym Dockendorf, Billy and Johnny Olson; a great-grandson, Robert C. Dockendorf, Jr.
Preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Pfaltzgraff; parents, Martin and Josephine Shurbach; a brother, Ted Shurbach; two sisters, Lucy Shurbach and Dorothy McGuire; faithful companions, Willy, Thriller and Bebe.

Age 74. Friday, March 15, 2002 at Westlake Community Hospital in Melrose Park. born in Morgantown, W.V. and a Joliet area resident for the past three years. Owner and operator of Shaffer Steel Detailing for over 40 years. A life member of the American Institute of Steel Construction and life member of the American Welding Society.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline Shaffer; a brother, John Shaffer.
Survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane R. Shaffer of Joliet; a son, Roy M. (Mindy) Shaffer of Peoria; two daughters, Jamie (Bob Jennings) Hinson of DesPlaines and Shawn (Fred) Beyer of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Shaffer of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Lona Abercrombie of Torrance, CA.

Peter Valentine Bertignoli
Age 86. Passed away Monday, May 1, 2001 at Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona. He was born August 7, 1914. He worked for Joliet Public Schools, attended Saint Mary Magdalene Church, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survived by his son, Larry (Barbara) Bertignoli of Sun City, Arizona; three grandchildren, Debbie (Bertignoli) Margett, Mark Bertignoli, Andrea (Bertignoli) Mayer; and four great grandchildren, Val and Monique Bertignoli of California, Krystle Boyd and Kody Mayer of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette Bertignoli; son, Robert Bertignoli; and one sister, Margaret Regganie.
Funeral services for Peter V. Bertignoli will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, Illinois, May 19, 2001. Mass Celebration will be at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 9:30, one half hour before Mass at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Age 95. Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home.
Survived by two sons James (Nancy) Doppke and Thomas Doppke; four grandchildren James (Erin) Doppke Jr., John Doppke, Beth (Joseph) Newell and Lynn (Anders) Torning; one great grandson Erik Torning. One brother Randall Clark. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband Alfred Doppke; parents William and Sarah Clark; four brothers Thomas, John, Leo and Terrence; six sisters Mae, Sadie, Myrtle, Alice, Esther and Marjorie.
Born in Chicago, living there most of her life. Member of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Private Burial Service was held at St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove, IL. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 19, 2001 at Our Lady of Angels, Joliet at 11:00 a.m.

Age 80, of Joliet, passed away Monday, May 14, 2001 at Provena Villa Franciscan.
Survived by two sons Paul D. (Martha) Duncan of Channahon, and James W. (Lora) Duncan of Channahon; three grandchildren Stephen J. (Tracey) Duncan of Minooka, Kevin D. Duncan of New York, NY, and Sandra L. (Jerry) Anderson of Minooka; and one great granddaughter McKenna Margaret Anderson. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband William P. Duncan; two brothers Douglas and Malcolm Butler; and one sister Ruby Holeman. born in Doddsville, Mississippi, she was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Joliet.
Funeral services will be held Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the Blackburn-Lanagan Funeral Home, Channahon-Minooka Rd. Interment will take place at the Drew Cemetery in Mississippi. Visitation Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Services.

Age 38. Suddenly, while working Monday, May 14, 2001 as the result of an apparent heart attack. born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet area resident. Employed by John J. Heittkotter Drywall Contractors. A member of the Carpenters Union Local #250.
Preceded by his father, Dominic Grinis (1996); his grandparents, Dominic and Theresa Grinis.
Survived by his loving wife, Leann M.
