Evelyn E. Futterer (nee Wiedman)
Age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 17, 2002 at Sunny Hill Skilled Rehab Center. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Joliet. She was formerly employed by Rustcraft Greeting and she was a retiree of Union National Bank.
Her kind heart, gentle spirit and loving laughter will always be remembered by her beloved family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Kitty (nee Jenkins) Wiedman; and her brother, Joseph Wiedman.
She is survived by her son, Jack (Nancy) Futterer; and her daughter, Beverly (Chris) Brooks; her grandchildren, Julie and Eric Futterer and Mark Surges, Pam Ross and Joshua Brooks; and her great-grandchildren, Cody Surges and Jacob Ross.
Funeral services will be held at the Westwood Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 20, 2002 at 10:00 AM, Pastor Barb Good officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM.

Max H. Kuster
A devoted father and husband, of Shorewood, died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, at the age of 84, after a courageous 13 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born December 9, 1917 on the family farm near Neponset, IL, in Bureau County. The son of Arnold H. and Della (nee Pettit) Kuster. He married Wilma (nee Postma) Larsen Kuster on June 25, 1946.
Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Warren of Minooka, Clarence of Normal and Gerald of Colorado; one sister, Inez Miles of Kewanee.
Max is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma; sons, Kurt Kuster of Shorewood and Mark (Nancy) Kuster of Channahon; one daughter, Hedy (Stan) Kosiba of Shorewood; three grandsons, Craig (Lori) Kosiba of Joliet; twins, Kip and Zackery Kuster of Channahon; one granddaughter, Cheryl Kosiba of Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Michael and Amanda Kosiba of Joliet; two sisters, Mildred Golby of Neponset and Laura (Harold) Scott of Bradford, IL.
Mr. Kuster was a graduate of Neponset High School. He attended Illinois State University and the University of Illinois, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and also his Master of Science in Agriculture Education.
He began his lifelong distinguished career as a vocational agriculture teacher at Mt. Zion High School and Wethersfield High School before coming to Joliet Township High School in 1947. He continued his career at JTHS, while at the same time, initiated the Agriculture Transfer Program at Joliet Junior College in 1954. In 1964, he established the first Agriculture Supply Business in the state of Illinois at JJC. Previous to his retirement in 1977, he earned many distinguished awards as a teacher of agriculture. He served as Agriculture Department Chairman during his entire tenure at JTHS and JJC. One of his most cherished activities was conducting the Farmers' Short Course for 30 years. Serving on the steering committee in 1967, to make Joliet Junior College a Class I College, was another career highlight for Max. He was a member of and held various offices of the Illinois Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association; was a lifelong member of the American and Illinois Vocational Education Associations. Max was the first president of the Illinois Association of Community College Agriculture Instructors. Individuals referred to him as "Mr. Agriculture".
Funeral services for Max H. Kuster will be Thursday, June 20, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rev. Jim Bell officiating. Interment Floral Hill Cemetery, Neponset, IL, where graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers and gifts, contributions may be made to Joliet Junior College Foundation (Weitendorf Agriculture Facility). Helen J. LaBarre (nee McGuire)
Age 78. Monday, June 17, 2002 at her daughter's residence following a courageous battle with cancer. born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet area resident. Retired from the Joliet Township Supervisors Office. Formerly employed by Kline's Department Store. Member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus. Past member of the American Legion Post #1080 Ladies Auxiliary.
Preceded in death by her first husband, John Carey; her second husband, August H. LaBarre; parents, Emmett and Mildred (nee Clark) McGuire; one brother, Paul E. McGuire; sister-in-law, Marilyn "Mitzi" McGuire; one nephew, Thomas L. McGuire.
Survived by one son, Michael F. Carey of Manteno, IL; two daughters, Mary Jo (Ronald) Fenili of Joliet and Sara (Steve) Wilhelmi of Shorewood; six grandchildren, Linda (Bill) Fleischauer; Mark Fenili; Adam, Jason and Alex Wilhelmi; Michael Carey; three great-grandchildren, Nick, Jessica and Emily Fleischauer; two brothers, Jack (Pat) McGuire and James (Judy) McGuire both of Joliet; sister-in-law, Marilyn McGuire of Joliet. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Helen J. LaBarre will be Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. John Cemetery. Vance I. Mather
Age 87, of Plainfield, IL died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at his home. He was born November 11, 1914 in Wheatland Township, IL.
Survived by his two sons, Vance I. (Janet) Mather Jr. of Delavan, WI and Jerry Mather of Carson City, NV. Four grandchildren, Ashley, Jason, Christen and Sarah. Three great grandchildren, Brianne, Jake and Kyllie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonathan and Agnes Mather; and his wife, Jean I. in 1995.
Vance had retired from U.S. Steel after 35 years of service and had farmed in the area for many years and was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 20th at 11 AM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Facemyer officiating. Interment Wheatland Township Cemetery in Naperville, IL. Visitation will be Thursday, June 20th from 10 AM to 11 AM at:

Dorothy M. Horvat (nee Nemanich)
Age 81. Late of Joliet, Monday, June 18, 2001 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center with her family by her side. Lifelong resident of Joliet; employed by the Social Security Administration for 36 years prior to her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the following organizations: KSKJ St. Francis Lodge #29, Rosarian Club C.C.W. (St. Joseph Church), Slovenian Women's Union of America Branch #20, Joliet and a honorary life member of Joliet Rival's Ladies Auxiliary.
Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Jerry" Horvat (1987); parents, John H. and Mary (nee Simonich) Nemanich; one brother, John R. Nemanich (1999).
Survived by her sister, Evelyn (late Frank) Lustick; brother, Norm (Marilyn) Nemanich both of Joliet. Beloved aunt of, Norm (Mary) and Susan Nemanich; Cal (Betty) and David (Margie) Lustick; Robert (Mary), Gene (Louise) and John Jr. (Ellen Dee) Nemanich; and Arlene England. Numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends also survive.
Dorothy has gently touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed by those who really knew her.

Jody Raub (Nee Speva)
Saturday, June 16, 2001 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.
Survived by her husband Donald Raub; two sons Jorge and Jordan Raub. Brothers, Jerry (Jill) and Jayme (Sandy) Speva; brother-in-law, Harold (Donna) Raub. Uncles Leo and Ed Csepregi and Andy Tordai; aunt Mary Cullums. Jody was an aunt to Michael, Amanda, Jenna, Michael, Kristin and Dan. Numerous c

Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident. Graduated from St. Francis Academy. Jody was a beautician for over 30 years. Member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was very active in her sons lives including St. Patrick's Boy Scout Pack #228 and Dirksen P.T.A. She enjoyed family trips. Jody lived well, laughed often and loved greatly.

William A. "Bill" Stahl, Sr.
William A. "Bill" Stahl, Sr., 67, a resident of Lisle since 1977, formerly of Elmhurst and Aurora, IL. Passed away Saturday, June 16, 2001 at Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL. He was born August 31, 1933 in Chicago, IL,
Mr. Stahl grew up in Chicago and Elmhurst, IL. He moved to Aurora as a teenager and was a graduate of Marmion Military Academy. Mr. Stahl was a 1955 graduate of Notre Dame University, South Bend, IN, and later received his MBA from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Stahl served as a career officer in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years with tours of duty in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. He retired from the Airforce in 1976, moved to Lisle and worked as an investment broker for Stahl Investments, Lisle, IL. Mr Stahl was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Church, Naperville, belonging to the Church Men's Club, Bridge Club and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Stahl was very involved in community organizations such as the Retired Officer Association, Marmion Alumni Association, Notre Dame Alumni Association, Notre Dame First, The American Legion Post #43, Naperville and the Lisle Police Pension Board. He was a former youth baseball coach and enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth Anne (Bruce) Schnizlein of West Chicago, IL; Major William A. Jr. (Dawn) Stahl of Fayetteville, No. Carolina; Major Joseph M. (Susan) Stahl of San Antonio, TX; and Thomas J. Stahl of Lisle, IL. His nine grandchildren, Tim, Matthew and Katie Schnizlein; Elizabeth, Jessica and William A. III, Stahl; Joey, Samantha and Johnathan Stahl; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Virginia (nee Viskocil) Stahl in 1995; his parents; William L. and Bertha K. Stahl; one sister, Elizabeth and one brother, Joseph.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 22, 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville. Services will begin Saturday, June 23, 8:00 a.m. at Friedrich-Jones and proceed to a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Dr., Naperville, IL. A luncheon will follow at church and the procession to Calvary Cemetery, Lockport, IL, will start at 11:45 p.m. from the church to the 1:00 p.m. graveside service.

Age 70, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Survived by three daughters, twin daughters, Carol L. (Michael) Cassem of Rockdale, Cheryl L. (Timothy) Shelton of Romeoville and Diane E. Baker of Morris; two sons, Stanley B. (Peggy) Todd of Minooka and Daniel W. (Cindy) Todd of Joliet; 11 grandchildren, Chrissie and Matthew Cassem, E. Richard Thomas and Jennifer Zernicke, Samantha and Matthew Todd, Jessica, Tiffany and Caitlin Todd, Ashley and Timothy Baker; four great grandchildren, Jonathan, Jered, Joshue, Felicity; his ex-wife, Patricia F. Shelton of Cabrey, IL.
Born in Wakeman, OH and has lived in Joliet for past 40 years. Retired from Joliet Twp. High School as a math teacher, teaching at Joliet East and Joliet Central schools. Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Memorial services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Thursday, June 21st at 11 A.M. with Rev. Robert Haight officiating. Interment of ashes will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to Ingalls Park United Methodist Church will be appreciated. NO VISITATION.

Marilyn Joyce Totter "Mert" (nee Morsch)
Age 76. Passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at Deerbrook Care Centre. born in Lockport and a resident of Joliet most of her life. Retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1983 following 30 years of dedicated service. Member of Caterpillar Retiree's Club and First Baptist Church of Joliet. An avid gardener.
Surviving are her loving husband of 56 years, George F. Totter of Joliet; one son, Don (Cyndi) Totter of Lindenhurst, IL; two grandchildren, Aaron and Kim Totter.
Preceded by one son, Brad Totter (July 26, 1986); parents, Delbert and Vera (nee Mooring) Morsch; one brother, Don Morsch.
