Christine Bomba (nee Kotowski)
Passed away at her home Sunday, July 11, 2004. Age 68 years.
Survived by her son, Paul (Kim) Bomba of Joliet and her daughter, Teresa Shook of Exmore, VA; three grandchildren, Nathan Shook, Matthew and Tyler Bomba; two brothers, Conrad (Helen) Kotowski of Arlington Heights and CaseyKotowski of Joliet; her sister, Terri (late Albin) Tomala of Shorewood. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bomba (1968); and her parents, Stanley and Anna Kotowski.
Christine retired in 2003 from Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home where she was a CNA for over 30 years.
Committal services will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL Thursday at 11 AM. Memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Hospice of Eastern Shores, P.O. Box 316, Parksley, VA, 23421 will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd. Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM.

Preceded in death by husband, Thomas (1987); one son, Thomas (2002); one daughter, Patricia Offerman (2002); her parents, Frank Sr. and Anna (nee Tulala) Ospalik; one brother, Frank (late Gussie) Ospalik; three sisters, Mary (late Jack) Miklic, Ann (late James) Driscoll and Margaret (Midge) Gergacz.
Survived by one son, Robert (Mary Ann) Cerven; a son-in-law, Ralph Offerman; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Cerven; eight grandchildren, Tom (Cheryl) Cerven, Ted (Lisa) Cerven, Jeannie (Mike) Groen, Joe (Lisa) Cerven, Ralph (Donna) Offerman, Renee (Brian) Vanacora, Jim (Sandy) Cerven, Julie (Brad) Coppens; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Steven (Julie) Ospalik. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Betty was born in Joliet and was a lifelong resident. She retired from Southern Fried Doughnuts after many years of service. Betty was an avid bowler and very family oriented, taking great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James George Costa
Passed away at 71 years of age on July 12, 2004 in his Shorewood home with his beloved wife and three sons by his side. He was born in Joliet on March 1, 1933.
Jim graduated from Joliet Township High School, enjoying success in wrestling and football, then served in the U.S. Army. Jim married Shelbia (nee Horath) Costa on January 11, 1958 at their lifelong parish, the Church of St. Anthony. He became a fireman and made many good friends at the Army Ammunitions Plant in Joliet and provided for his family the rest of his life.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Shelbia; three sons, James A. (Nancy), Timothy (Liz) and Vincent (Sherri). Dearest grandfather of Anthony, Cristina, Nicholas, Katie and Julian Costa; his sister, Catherine Allocco; brothers, Frank (Rosemarie) and Anthony Costa; brothers-in-law, Cecil Horath and Stephen (Nettie) Horath and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, O'Norfio and Susann (nee Spota) Costa; brothers, Charles and Joseph Costa; sisters, Dorothy Savage and Josephine Costa in infancy.
Funeral services will be on Friday, July 16, 2004 at 9:15 AM, from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Rd., to the Church of St. Anthony for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, July 15th, 2:00-8:00 PM.

Age 63. Passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004 at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet with his family by his side.
Born in Omaha, NE and resided in Joliet for the past 15 years. Larry served as a part time cashier at The Joliet Restaurant for the past 10 years.
Survived by a sister, Cheryl French of Ralston, NE; three daughters, Wendy Vargocko of Joliet, Brenda McCauley of Joliet, and Tammy Ewing of Ottawa, IL; two sons, Eric Ewing of Shorewood, and Christohper Ewing of Marseilles, IL; five grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Pierce, Michael and Joseph McCauley and Brianna Vargocko.

Joan C. Gitersonke
Age 69. died at York Convalescent Center on July 12, 2004 following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born November 7, 1934, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to the late Edmund and Mary Kurth. In her last years, she was a resident of York County, living with her daughter, Kathy Gallagher. Joan spent most of her life sharing a home with her late husband, Joseph, in Plainfield, Illinois. They raised three children there.
Joan was a member of teh Plainfield Congregational Church. She was very active, along with her husband, in the American Legion Post 31 of Plainfield. In her time in York County, she was a volunteer for the York High School Athletic Booster Club where she spent many hours bagging peanuts, supporting football, and sitting at wrestling matches.
Joan is survived by her three children, Deb (Lee) Gehrke of Framingham, MA, Dan Gitersonke of Plainfield, and Kathy Gallagher of Grafton, VA; three grandchildren, Lindsay and Andrew Gehrke, and Ian Gallagher; her sister, Barb (Ron) Bakhaus; and her brother-in-law, Jack (Marlene) Gitersonke.
Funeral services for Joan C. Gitersonke will be Friday, July 16 at the Hack Funeral Home in Beecher, Illinois. There will be a gathering of friends and family between 10:00 a.m. and the 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Rev. Tom Ewing will officiate. Burial will be at the Peotone Cemetery. Formerly employed by Healthways Hospice and Vitas Hospice. Survived by her parents Wally and Adeline (Tarabuta) Janusz of Ottawa and a brother Mark Janusz of Lockport. Age 56, passed away Monday, July 12, 2004 at University of Chicago Hospital. Late of New Lenox.
He was born in Chicago and lived in New Lenox the past 27 years. He was employed by Shirey Cadillac in Oak Lawn as a mechanic. An Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, member of Peace Lutheran Church and the German Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda L. (Pausz) Wilson; three daughters, Lisa (Glen) Gary, Jennifer (Drew) Banas, Stacey (Fiance: Steve Honeycutt) Wilson; four grandchildren, Brianna, Kyle, Jessica, Ryan; one brother, Terry (Jeri) Wilson; and two sisters, Kay (Larry) Schmidt, Sheryl (Jack) Annen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Ruth (Stout) Wilson.

Age 38, Thursday, July 12, 2001 as a result of an automobile accident, Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Late of Mokena and Manteno.
Survived by her fiance whom she was to marry December 9, Mark E. Spiner of Burr Ridge; two children, Randall E. Addams Jr. and Danielle C. Addams of Burr Ridge; a sister, Angie (Cliff) Fleszewski of Manteno; a brother, Jack Armin of Manteno; her father, John Armin Jr. of Manhattan; maternal grandmother, Leah Virklan of Lockport; future in-laws, Daniel and Diane Spiner of Burr Ridge; sister-in-law, Therese Armin of Manteno; five nieces and nephews, Michael and Danny Armin and Joe, Timmy and Nikki Fleszewski.
Born in Joliet, formerly living in Manteno and Mokena. Employed by T.J. Lambrecht for three years as an operating engineer. She was a member of Operating Engineers Union, Local 150 for 20 years.

Florence E. Kaveney, Age 83, of Shorewood, IL, died Saturday, July 14, 2001 at her home. born January 11, 1918 in Lockport, IL, the daughter of Olaf and Anna Johnson.
Florence is survived by her two children, Kenneth (Lynn) Kaveney of Joliet and Jean (Barry) Edwards of Bridgeport, IL. Her four grandchildren, Malinda (Andrew) Abas of Mt. Vernon, IL, Arieanna Edwards of Bridgeport, IL, Jennifer and Sara Kaveney both of Joliet, IL. Numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmons "Jim"; three sisters, Edith Larson, Helen Belom and Doris Engstrom; and two brothers, Clarence and Albert Johnson.
Florence was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Pansy Chapter.
