(1916-2001)
Bernard J. Breitwieser, 84, suddenly passed away at home on Monday, July 16, 2001. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jane Curtis, in 1968. He is survived by his wife Lucille Breitwieser, two sons: David (Roxy) and Fred (Phyllis), Rochelle, IL; two grandchildren: Brenda (William) Hull and Bradley (Lisa); two great-grandchildren: Ryan Ferrario and Taylor Hull. Bernard is also survived by one brother ant two sisters: Delbert (Violet), Minooka, IL; Rose (Basil) Bennett, Plainfield; and Ruth (Howard) Brossman, Earlville, IL. He also has one uncle remaining: Ralph (Ruth) Breitwieser, Naperville, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernard is also survived by seven step-children: Nancy (David) Ferris, Houston, TX; Carolyn Boughton, Plainfield; Mary Hartman, Jackson, MS; Beverly Hartman, San Antonio, TX; J.D. Hartman, Plainfield; Linda (William) Luce, San Diego, CA; and Laurence (Barbara) Hartman, Naperville, IL; 20 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
He has a passion for flying and began in 1941. He was one of the first members of the International Flying Farmers. He farmed most of his life in the Plainfield area and retired in 1978 at which time he became a resident of Plainfield. He was the first school bus driver for Wheatland School.
Bernard Breitwieser's wake will be held at Overman-Jones Funeral Home at 309 Joliet Road, Plainfield, IL, on Thursday, July 19, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Additional Visitation will be held Friday, July 20, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Overman-Jones. The funeral will be at Overman-Jones Funeral Home. It will be held on Friday, July 20, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tim Casey and Rev. Doug Booth officiating. Joseph L. Davito
Age 77, of Coal City, Tuesday, July 17, 2001.
Joe played clarinet and saxophone nearly every weekend with local musicians and bands. A man of many talents, Joe barbered, worked at the Joliet Arsenal, manufactured the "best potato chips", operated the "Sugar Bowl" restaurant, and in 1986 retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet. Joe was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, Joliet Elks Club, and Kankakee Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lee (Guardia) Davito; one daughter, Kimberly (Tim) Reilly of Joliet; three sons, Lee Joseph and Terry Davito, both of Bloomington, and Joseph (Jill) Davito of Lake Zurich; two grandchildren, Casey Reilly and Joseph R. Davito; one brother, Bill Davito of Joliet; one sister, Betty (James) Maland of Coal City.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, at 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Church in Coal City. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City. Preferred memorials are gifts in Joe's name to his family for later donation to the MDS Foundation or Leukemia Research.

Birdie Duerson
Age 104, passed away at Sunny Hill Rehab Center Monday, July 16, 2001.
She was born November 3, 1896 in Providence, Kentucky, to Johana and Nelia Givens. She was the second child of seven children, Ashley, Sarah, Hulbert, Dalum, Sue, and Bradley Givens. She was married to Sam Parks and then Harry Duerson. All have preceded her in death including one nephew, Donald Givens.
Birdie was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was in the choir and served her church faithfully. Birdie moved to Joliet, Illinois, in 1966, and then became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and she was a member of the Guiding Light Club. In Providence she was a member of The Ruth Chapter OES #26 and The Garden Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Joan Givens of Joliet, Illinois; four grandchildren, Regan (Lisa) Scruggs of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Deondre Givens, Vercyna (Mitchell) Smith, and Dwain Givens Jr., all of Joliet, Illinois; four nieces, Velma Harris of Providence, Kentucky, Nelie Davis of Louisville, Kentucky, Lois (Jesse) Scruggs of Evansville, Indiana, and Betty Ann Givens of Louisville, Kentucky; and nephews wife, Jean Givens of Maywood, Illinois; three great grandchildren, Renesa Scruggs, R. Leander Scruggs of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Shana A. Smith of Joliet, Illinois; and several great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, 2001 at 4:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olive M.B. Church, 1710 Carey, Joliet, IL. Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Rev. Ronald Johnson officiating. Interment will be Friday, July 20, 2001 at Providence, Kentucky, at the Cumberland Hill Cemetery.

Preceded in death by her husband, Mathew Hunter; and her parents, Anthony and Sophie (Just) Drabczynski.

Age 89. Passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2001, after a lingering illness, in Colorado Springs, CO.
Born August 11, 1911.
Survived by her daughter, Lillian (Gus) Vandarakis; six sons, Eric (Joan) Bolz Jr., Elmer (Eva) Bolz, Bruce, Kenneth (Gloria) Bolz, Robert (Carol) Bolz, and Gregg "Skip" (Weldonna) Bolz; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Amelia (Frank-Deceased) Schildgen; one brother, William (Eloise-Deceased) Kaehlert. Many other family members survive.
Preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian (nee Burdick) Kaehlert; two sons, Emil and Wayne Bolz; three grandchildren, Jeff, Tammy and Bobby Bolz; two brothers; and five sisters.
Private family services were held on Tuesday, July 17, 2001. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Joan (nee Cates) Lowry. Loving father of Sharon Lowry, Edward R. Lowry, Brian (Carol (nee Kropinski) Lowry and Ruth (John) Colclasure. Dearest grandfather of nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One sister, Pauline (Frank dec.) Scarcelli; one brother, James (Marge) Lowry; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arlie was born in Kentucky, resided in Joliet most of his lifetime, retired from Meyer Material, member of Teamsters Local #179. Veteran WWII serving from 1942 to 1946 U.S. Army and 1946 to 1949 U.S. Air Force. Received two Bronze Stars, American Theatre of War Ribbon, European Theatre War Ribbon, Asiatic, Pacific War Ribbon.

Martinus (Martin) H. Timmermans
Age 59, of Minooka, died suddenly on July 9th in Kansas City, MO. Martin was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Preceded in death by his parents, Hendrikus and Sophia Timmermans, his sister "Henny" Pool and grandson, Chance Lind.
He is survived by his beloved wife Donna (Overman) Timmermans, Tania (Scott) Denewellis of Charlotte, NC., Christopher (Machelle) Timmermans of Kansas City, MO., Joseph Lind of Morris, Jason (Jennifer) Lind of Marseilles, IL and Mieka Timmermans of Minooka. Grandchildren Cameron and Andrew Denewellis of Charlotte, NC., Tyler Bedell, Diana and Samuel Timmermans of Kansas City, MO., and Alexis Lind of Morris.
Martin retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron in December of 2000 after 32 years of dedicated service. He loved traveling, being with his family and his three sheltie dogs.
Memorial services will be held at Minooka United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Darr officiating.
