David E. Mazac
Age 49, of Allentown, PA, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at St. Lukes Hospital, Bethlehem, PA.
He was born in Chicago, IL and was a Machine Mechanic for American National Can, Allentown for 31 years. David was a member of Morganland Lutheran Church, Orefield, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carol Hendricks Mazac; parents, Robert E. Mazac and Linda M. Casino Mazac of Joliet, IL; three sons, David C. of Schnecksville, PA, Brian P. of Skiatook, OK, and Joey A. of Skiatook, OK; one daughter, Michelle L. Getz of Schnecksville, PA; one sister, Cynthia Mazac of Joliet, IL; and eight granddaughters.
Services for David E. Mazac will be Saturday, July 20, 2002, 10:30 a.m. at Trexler Funeral Home Inc., 1625 Highland St., Allentown, PA 18102. Visitation Friday, July 19, 2002, 6-8:00 p.m., Trexler Funeral Home, Inc.

Clark Hudson Nielsen
Age 78 passed away July 16, 2002 at Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home in Bolingbrook, IL. A Joliet area resident formerly of Dalton, IL. A veteran of the U.S. Army and past member of Dalton VFW.
He is survived by his children Elmer (Gloria) Smith, Mary Wood, Nancy (Jack) Rowe, and Linda Lush. Brother of Madge (Hank) Kline and Nona (Larry) Genebach, also 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Nielsen, his parents Charles and Nellie Nielsen and one brother Clifford Nielsen.
Graveside Services Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Park Cemetery in Calumet Park, IL, with military honors.

Nan A. Potter (nee Nagy)
Age 57. Suddenly Monday July 15, 2002 at her residence.
Survived by her two sons Stephen (Sharon) Potter and Sean (Lisa) Potter; grandchildren Eric, Dana, Matthew and Hannah Mae Potter. Sisters Nola A. Dooley and Noreen A Capista. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents Stephen Nagy and Neva (Arnold) Nagy Richards.
Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident. Nan was a nurse for 25 years at Joliet area Nursing Homes.
Funeral Services will be held Friday July 19, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Visitation Thursday 4-9 p.m.

Rita J. Rapsky
Age 78, formerly of Gardner, IL, late of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at her home. born August 18, 1923 in Harvey, IL to the late Patrick and Catherine (nee Cook) Moran.
She enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles. Member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington, IL.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Lloyd) Trina of Indianapolis, IN and Gayle Vojtanek (Ron Jordan, fiance') of Joliet, IL; one son, Michael (Terri Ann) Rapsky, Jr., of New Lenox, IL; step-son, Emmett (Florence) Rapsky of PA; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Michael J. Rapsky, whom she married December 4, 1943 in Chicago; a daughter, Barbara Bafia, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 9:30AM to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM. Interment Braceville-Gardner Cemetery in Braceville, IL. Visitation Friday, July 19, 2002 from 2-9PM. Memorials in her name to the St. Vincent's Hospice in Indianapolis, IN would be appreciated.

Michael Donald Roberts
Late of Minooka, passed away, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, July 17,2002 at the Morris Hospital with his family at his side. He was born on May 9, 1916 in Orland, IL to William D. and Carrie (Knupp) Roberts.
Michael was married on July 27, 1945 in Atlanta, GA after returning from serving our Country in the U.S. Army in the Pacific, to the late Eloise (Loucks) Roberts.
He is survived by his children: Dan (Dee) Roberts, Cathy (Ric) Offerman, Michele (Terry) Houchens and Don (Lyn) Roberts, all of Minooka. He was proud of his ten grandchildren: Angela (Mike) Harris, Ryan (Lisa) Roberts, Lauren (Dennis) Offerman-Vice, Nick and Matt Offerman, Carrie (Jeff) Offerman-Vana, Mike and Chris Houchens and Logan and Lindsey Roberts; and three great-granddaughters: Elise and Holy Vice and Danielle Harris; one sister, Myrtle Walsh in Texas; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Loucks, Durlene Loucks in CA and Gladys Roberts and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his wife, Eloise, his parents, William D. and Carrie Roberts, his brothers, Dean Roberts and Carroll Roberts, his sister Inez Werner, his brothers-in-law, Fred Werner, Ray Walsh, Jerry Simone from IN, Ray Loucks from CA and William Loucks, his sisters-in-law, Laverne Roberts and Eileen Simone from IN.
Mike and Eloise farmed together, beginning in Lockport and moving to Minooka in 1956. He was a member of the Minooka American Legion, Post 1188. He was a member of the Minooka United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the yearly fishing trips to Minnesota with his family. In his younger days, he loved to attend dances with Eloise and their friends.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Michael D. Roberts will lie in state Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Minooka United Methodist Church, 205 E. Church St., Minooka from 9AM until time of funeral services at 10AM, Pastor Richard Darr officiating. Interment Seward Mound Cemetery. Age 33. Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 15, 2003. born in Whitefish, Montana and a resident of Joliet the past ten years. Member of the Laborer's Union Local #0005.
Survived by his mother, Nancy (Edward) Fundahn of Joliet; his father, A.J. (Nancy) Bartkoske of Salt Lake City, UT; two brothers, Brett (Lily) Bartkoske of Oswego and Bradley Bartkoske of Seattle, WA; stepbrothers, Shawn (Debbie) Saucier of San Diego, CA and Jason Saucier of Salt Lake City, UT; stepsister Traci (Wade) Watts of Salt Lake City; grandmother, Dorothy Wallace and his niece, Lexie Bartkoske.
Funeral services for Dean M. Bartkoske will be Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lock of Love would be appreciated. Visitation Friday, 4 to 8 p.m.

Frank Howard Goodwin
Age 82, or rural Wilmington, IL passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at his home. born January 24, 1921 in Wesley Twp., IL to the late Phil Ritchey and Myrtle (nee Brock) Goodwin. Frank was a long time dairy farmer. He was also a Brown Swiss cattle breeder, an international dealer of registered Brown Swiss cattle and was a member of the Brown Swiss Cattle Breeders Association. He showed his cattle at numerous exhibitions and competitions, including state fairs. Frank was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wilmington and an Alumni of the Wesley 4-H Hustlers.
Surviving are three sons, Larry L. (Karen) Goodwin of Gaithersburg, MD, John B. Goodwin of Wilmington, and Phil J. (Chris) Goodwin of Wilmington; one daughter, Linda L. (James N.) Traub of Monticello, IL; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, William J. Goodwin and Erwin (Marlene) Goodwin both of Wilmington; two sisters, Phyllis Summers of Chatham, IL and Helen McGranahan of Springfield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Winnifred (nee Nadler) Goodwin, whom he married on September 11, 1946.
Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Wilmington Monday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Lagos-Fonseca and Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes officiating. Interment will be in the Wesley Twp. Cemetery in Ritchie, IL. The visitation will also be at the church on Sunday, July 20, from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday, one hour preceding services. Memorials in his name to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or the United Methodist Church of Wilmington would be appreciated.

Matthew Holmes
Age 97 years, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. born in Tinsaw Parish, Louisiana. He has resided in Joliet since 1945, retiring from Reynolds Metals in 1968. A member of Bibleway Apostolic Temple.
Preceded in death by his wife, three sons, two brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by one son, Cordell Holmes of Joliet. Four daughters, Ruby Chambers of Bellwood, Ill., Sylvia Mitchell, Susie (James) Wallace, and Bertha Jourdan all of Joliet. Seven step-children, John Manuel of Milwaukee, Wis., Perry, Willie, Floyd (Debra) Manuel, all of Joliet, President Manuel of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Marylean Bennett of Washington, D.C. and Oliva Jones of Monroe, La., two sisters, Ida Blanson of Joliet, Bessie January of L.A., Calif. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services Saturday at 10 a.m. at Greater Bibleway Apostolic Temple. Bishop Samuel Allen, officiating. Visitation Friday 1-4 p.m. at Range Funeral Home and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery.

Dorothy M. Knowles Nee: Sterling
Age 98
Passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Sunny Hill Skilled Rehab. Center.
Survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.;
Preceded in death by her husband William Knowles; parents Clarence & Lena (Wuest) Sterling; five brothers Mitchell, Elmer, Chester, Elwood, and Everett Sterling and one sister Louise Tyrell.
Born in Joliet, A lifelong resident. Member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 11:00am with at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, with Pastor Erika Hundrieser officiating. Internment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Saturday morning 10:00am until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials to Friends of Sunny Hill or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
