Mrs. Florence M. Coddington
Mrs. Florence M. Coddington, 95, of Aurora passed away at Provena Mercy Center on Friday, December 29, 2000. She was born May 12, 1905 in Platteville, IL to the late Sidney and Nettie Stansel.
During WWII, Florence was secretary to Staff Officers at Jefferson Barracks, MO, and at Camp Phillips, Salina, KS. Later, she returned to Aurora and worked at several insurance agencies. Florence's hobbies were needlework, bowling and golf. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her two nephews, Sidney H. (Janet) Stansel of Dayton, OH and David D. (Donna) Stansel of Aurora; five great nieces; one great nephew; and one great great niece.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Fred E. Schickler; her second husband Ralph Coddington Jr. in 1990; and her brother, Sidney H. Stansel in 1979; and one great nephew, Mark Stansel.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at The Healy Chapel 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora. Interment will take place at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia. Cathryn M. Johnson
Cathryn M. Johnson, 74, of Aurora passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2000 at Hillside Healthcare Center in Yorkville following an extended illness. She was born March 11, 1926 in Aurora, IL to the late Michael and Agnes (Leigh) Lynch. Cathryn was a member of Holy Angels Church of Aurora. She worked as a social worker and was associated with Catholic Charities of Aurora, Foxhill Home of Batavia as well as Breaking Free of Aurora.
Cathryn is survived by her two sons, Michael C. (Andrea) Johnson of Omaha, NE and Leigh K. Johnson of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Deanna and Daniel Johnson, both of Omaha, NE; her sister, Janet Halgirmson of Cuba, IL; her brother-in-law, Elmer W. (Margaret) Johnson of Aurora; her nieces and nephews, Lisa (Frank) Bennett of Lewistown, IL, Gay (Ross) Johnson of Galesburg, IL, Mark Halgirmson of Rochester, Minnesota, Robert Johnson of Aurora, Richard Johnson of Aurora and Donald Johnson of Monpara, California.
Besides her parents, Cathryn was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth L. Johnson in 1992.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at Holy Angels Church. Fr. Joseph Nicolosi will officiate. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery. J. Alan "Mac" McWilliams
J. Alan "Mac" McWilliams, 77, of Oswego passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at Jennings Terrrace following a lengthy illness. He was born April 1, 1923 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late J.R. "Mac" and Edna (Berg) McWilliams.
Alan had been associated with St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Boulder Hill. He worked for 38 years at D&L Auto Rebuilders, Inc. Upon his graduation from East Aurora High School, Alan was drafted by the U.S. Army and was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island throughout the war. He was an avid fisherman and was a charter member of the Lucky 50 Fishing Club. He held an extensive collection of political buttons as well as other assorted pins and emblems. He was a member of A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge 254 in Aurora.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 56 years, Lorraine (Rausch) McWilliams of Oswego; his son, Richard Alan (Kathy) McWilliams of Big Rock; several grandchildren as well as his sister Faye M. Gates of Yorkville and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Alan was preceded in death by a daughter, Margery McWilliams Michaud who passed away on December 25, 2000; a brother, Robert S. McWilliams and a sister Marjorie in infancy.

Mrs. Mildred B. Morrison
Mrs. Mildred B. Morrison, 94, of Houston, TX, formerly of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville, CA. She was born on October 10, 1906 in Joliet, IL, the daughter of the late Harry and Beatrice (Cowing) Brett.
Mrs. Morrison was a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora and was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two daughters, Joan (Edward) Husarik of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Carol (Leon) Russell of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Mark Russell of Houston, TX and Susan (Kent) Puett of Apple Valley, CA; great grandchildren Shannen and Andrew Puett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cloide, one sister and four brothers.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the interment chapel at River Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Harriette Cross officiating.

Khamphet Vongkorad
Khamphet Vongkorad, a Buddhist Monk, 64, a lifelong resident of Aurora, passed away December 25, 2000. He was born April 16, 1936 in Sumena, Laos.
Survived by his two brothers Khene Vongkorad and Khamphanh Vongkorad; Veune Vongkorad; his children, Phet, Van, Ket, Thip, Oura, Sona, Sindy, Pete, Bobby, Ravy. His five nieces and 11 nephews.
Preceded in death his parents, and his older brother, Mokala Vongkorad.
Funeral will be at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory at 950 S. Bartlett Rd., Bartlett, IL. Wake will be on Jan. 5, 2001 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Buddhist Ceremony will be on Jan. 6, 2001 at 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Thomas J. Beltran Jr.
Thomas J. Beltran Jr., 48, of West Chicago passed away December 31, 2000 at his home. He was born March 11, 1952 in St. Louis, MO.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marie (nee Morales). His children, Tony Beltran, Becky Kipper, Vicki (Robert) Everett and Tina Booker. His brother Joe Beltran. Also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Thomas was a veteran of the Vietnam War and worked for many years for K and K Screw Products of Carol Stream, IL. Was very active in the "Wanderers Group" of Alcoholics Anonymous. He also was an avid bowler and sports fan.
Deacon Don Mathieu, Sr.
Deacon Don Mathieu, Sr. of Winfield and formerly of Warrenville.
Deacon Don was born to Laura and Lawrence Mathieu on May 21, 1921. Don, along with his sisters Francis and Mary, was raised on the near West Side of Chicago. Shortly after December 7, 1941, he quickly became familiar with a machine called a 105-mm howitzer; he fought in numerous battles near and on the Philippine Islands. Don was discharged after the war and came back to Chicago with a Purple Heart, six Bronze Battle Stars and permanent back injuries.
He met Suzanne Urbealis who became Suzanne Mathieu. Don and Sue moved to Warrenville where they built a home and raised six children. Dorene (Hector Perez), West Chicago; Thomas Momence; Don (Barbara), Warrenville; Al, Englewood, Florida; Mary (Robert Swieringa), Blackburg, Virginia and Lawrence (Melody), of Glen Ellen. Don and Sue also leave behind 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He worked at the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board and retired from the personnel department as Chief of Employee and Staff Relationships. Aftering retiring, Don studied and subsequently became a Permanent Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church. He served at Saint Irene Church in Warrenville and later spent 25 years at Saint John the Baptist Church in Winfield.
Don's greatest pleasute was in marrying couples and baptizing babies. Both sacramental functions he enjoyed carrying out hundreds of times during his second career.
On January 1, 2001, his journey complete, he was reunited with his wife, Suzanne for what will be an eternity of experience; no longer held by the constraints those reading this must still endure.
Wake will be at St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield, 1 to 9 p.m. Wed. 9-11 a.m. Thursday with Mass immediately following. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery on Winfield Road, Wheaton.

Jacob J. "Jake" Strukel Jr.
Jacob J. "Jake" Strukel, Jr., 78 years of Bristol, IL died after a long battle with lung cancer on Monday, January 1, 2001 surrounded by his family at home.
Jake was born July 27, 1922 in Joliet, IL, the son of the late Jacob J. and Theresa (nee Nemanich) Strukel , Sr.
Jake served hid country Honorable in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Counter Intelligence Corps.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bristol/Yorkville, IL. For many years, Jake along side of his father raised vegetables for the Campbell Soup Co. at the Strukel Paradise Farm in Bristol Township, IL. Agter farming Jake was the owner/operator of J.J.&J.S. Trucking, Inc. in Bristol, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Ann (nee Bostanche) whom he married September 20, 1947 in Plainfield, IL; two daughters, Sandy (Jim) Nannings of Aurora, IL, Patty (Chuck) Beyer of Plano, IL; two sons, John (Janet) Strukel of Plano, IL, Jim Strukel of Wedron, IL; nine grandchildren, Tom (Kim) Nannings, Laura (Cliff) Baldridge, Karen (Jeremy) Bee, David (Kerry) Stillmunkes, Brian (Erika) Stillmunkes, Tim (Melissa) Stillmunkes, Andy Strukel, Adam Strukel, Matt Strukel; five great grandchildren, Michael Nannings, Katie and Allison Baldridge, Joey Bee, Damon Hopkins-Stillmunkes; a brother William Strukel of Kissimee, FL and by several nieces and nephews.

Jake took great pleasure in taking his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to Florida over the years, truly making him a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Along life's highway Jake always enjoyed entertaining his friends, for no one was a stranger to him, with tales that always began, "I've got a little story to tell you..."

Marie Rhudell VanHooser
Marie Rhudell VanHooser, 73 years old. born in Tilene, Kentucky, to Rusaw and Dora (Beavers) VanHooser on August 3, 1927. In 1937 they moved to Cave In Rock, IL. This is where he grew up.
In 1953, he left Cave In Rock and moved to Elgin, IL where he met his wife, Laverna (Dihel) VanHoover. They were married on January 1, 1954.
He is survived by his wife Laverna VanHooser and three children, Gary (Marilyn) VanHooser of Alton, IL, Helen (John) Spinks of Godfrey, IL, and Rebecca (Dewey) Kramer of Maple Park, IL. Eight grandchildren, Michelle Skelton of Alton, IL, Keri (Christopher) Fulkerson of Alton, IL, John, Jessica, and Timothy Spinks of Alton, IL, Melissa Spinks of Greenfield, IL, Rathon (Gloria) Zilbar of Aurora, IL; five step grandchildren, Jeremy, Nichole, Justin, Tiffany, and Britany Kramer of Maple Park, IL; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three sisters, Nicie Simmons and Lois Blair of Cave In Rock, IL, Eva Mae Patterson of Elizabeth Town, IL.

Anna M. Blassage
1912-2001
Anna M. Blassage, 88 of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at the home of her grandson in Rockford, IL.
She was born September 26, 1912 in Aurora, IL. She had been a member of Holy Angles Church since 1952, and previously a member of St. Nicholas Church in Aurora. Mrs. Blassage was a member of the St. Anne Society of both Holy Angles Church and St. Nicholas Church, where she also did much volunteer work. In addition, she volunteered at Madonna High School, Marmion Military Acadamy and the Wayside Cross Rescue Mission. She was a member of the Ladies of Columbus and the Friendly Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce (Kent) Daneiger of El Paso, TX.; her son Gerald (Marcia) Blassage of Rockford, IL.; seven grandchildren, Julie (Frank) Merlich of San Diego, CA., George (Trisha) Blassage of Monroe Center, IL., Mark Blassage of Rockford, IL., Pete )Kathlyn) Blassage of Cherry Valley, IL., T. Cricket Blassage of Oak Park, IL., Amy Blassage of Aurora, IL., Matt Langoussis of Rockford, IL., eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend in support, Tara O'Leary of Rockford, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 1976; her parents, Michael and Domincele (Juska) Balcunas; and her brother, John Balcunas.

George F. Brock
George F. Brock, principal of West Aurora High School from 1953 to 1964, died at his home in Topeka, Kansas on January 1, 2001. Mr. Brock was the first principal in what was then the new West Aurora High School building, having come to Aurora from Edwardsville, Illinois, where he had been principal of Edwardsville High School for seven years.
Mr. Brock was born in Hays, Kansas, on January 22, 1908. He attended a series of one-room schools before graduating from Ruskin Heights (Missouri) High School.
He then went on to graduate from Missouri Valley College and was a successful football, basketball and track coach in Missouri during the Depression. During World War II, he was a navy officer. After leaving West High, he served as academic dean and then President of his alma mater, Missouri Valley College. He retired to Harrisonville, Missouri, the birthplace of his first wife, Elinor, who preceded him in death.
He leaves his wife, Mary Brock; one son, John Brock of Reston, Virginia; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Marion Lubic Clark
Marion Lubic Clark, 81, of North Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Aurora, IL, died after a short illness Jan. 2, 2001 at Cape Coral Hospital, Cape Coral, FL. She was born on June 4, 1919 in Chicago. She was employed at Sealmaster Bearings prior to retiring to Florida.
She is survived by four daughters, Marian Peterson of Aurora, Helen (Ron) Volak of Oswego, IL, Barb (Jim) Glasgo of Kewanee, IL and Rose DuMont of No. Fort Myers, FL and three sons, George and Robert of Aurora and Charles (Susan) Lubic of Henderson, Nevada; 35 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George M. Lubic in 1973 and her second husband, Edward M. Clark in 1996; her daughter, Dorothy Wooley in 1999 and granddaughter, Kimberly Vargas in 1994.
Visitation will take place on Fri., Jan. 5, 2001 from 4-8 p.m. at Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral, FL. Funeral service will be held at noon on Sat., Jan. 6, 2001 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
William H. "Bill" Minard Sr.
William H. "Bill" Minard Sr., 59, of Aurora, formerly of Plano, passed away January 2, 2001, at Countryside Healthcare Centre in Aurora. He was born October 17, 1941 in Aurora.
Mr. Minard worked as a Autobody Repairman in the Aurora area for many years and was a Social Member of the Aurora Amvets.
He is survived by his two sons, William H. Minard Jr. and Danny E. (Laurie) Minard both of Plano; five grandchildren, Ryan W. and Cody D. Minard, both of Oswego, Tamara L. and Morgan D. Minard, both of Plano and Taylor J. Minard of Aurora; one brother, Jerry Minard of Millington, Illinois; one sister, Christine Brown of Texas; two half-brothers, George (Rose) Hagerty of Las Vegas and Lester Hagerty of California; one half-sister, Della Reynolds of Burlington, IL.; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wes and Margaret Minard; one grandson, Riley D. Minard in infancy; one half-brother, Joseph Hagerty.
