Andreas Wurst, 96, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001 at his home. He was born February 29, 1904 in Hungary.
Andreas was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Survivors include his son, Ignaz Wurst of Aurora; his daughter, Josephine (Kurt) Haberlin of Germany; four grandchildren, William (Betty) Wurst and Joseph (Donna) Wurst both of Aurora, Rita (Wolfgang) Claus of Germany and Cindy (Daniel) Carr of Sandwich; 13 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katharina in 1983; his parents, Stephen and Eve (Bauer) Wurst; two brothers; and three sisters.

Mr. Thomas J. Yoakum, 27, of Sugar Grove passed away February 1, 2001 in Cozad, NE. He was born January 5, 1974 in Aurora to William Yoakum and Deanna Fritts.
Tom grew up in Aurora and attended East Aurora High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
Tom is survived by his father William (Elaine) Yoakum of Sugar Grove, his mother Deanna (Ray) Williams of Oswego, two sisters Karen (Tim) Cinto of Sugar Grove, Debbie (Jim) Emanuel of Oswego, one brother Billy Yoakum of Naples, FL., Paternal grandfather Loran Yoakum of Aurora, three nieces Megan and Erin Cinto of Sugar Grove, Betheney Dalbey of Oswego, and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by both his grand mothers and his maternal grandfather.

Violet E. Dworakowski
Violet E. Dworakowski, 82, of Aurora, formerly of Brownsville, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001 at Rush-Copley Medical Center. She was born July 15, 1918 in Aurora.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Bohn of Aurora; her sister-in-law, Connie Thielman of Aurora; her niece and nephews, Linda (Berry) Parr of Aurora, Dale Bohn of Aurora, Terry (Cheri) Bohn and Jerry (Terrie) Thielman both of Montgomery; her great nieces and nephews, Tracey and Tiffany Bohn, Brian and Megan Parr and Brandon and Ryan Thielman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dworakowski; her parents, Fred and Katherine (Hughes) Thielman; her brother, Wilbert Thielman and a niece, Cheryl Thielman.

John D. Elko
John D. Elko, 83, of Aurora, IL. passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2001 at Elmwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 25, 1917 in Pennsylvania. John was a member of Holy Angels Church. He began his 30 year career with Caterpillar Inc. in 1942 in Peoria. He was subsequently transferred to the Aurora plant in 1959. He retired in 1972 as an assembly line supervisor. John loved his bowling for the Caterpillar, Inc. bowling team. He also held a passion for sports and gardening. He was a member of both the Loyal Order of Moose Moose Club and the Tiger Athletic Club.
Survivors include his loving wife Mary of Aurora; two sons, Dave (Lynn) Elko Jr. of Benton, IL; his grandchildren, Kevin and Amanda Elko of Benton, IL. and Kristin and Jason Elko of Oswego; two sisters Sophie Swigonski and Mary (Bill) Hill both of Benton, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.
John was proceeded in death by his parents; a brother, Mike Elko; and a brother in law, Max Swigonski.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at Holy Angels Church. Fr. Dean Russell will officiate. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery. Elizabeth "Betty" C. Frank
Elizabeth "Betty" C. Frank, 79, of Aurora, passed away peacefully at the home of her son on Sunday morning, February 4, 2001. She was born August 19, 1921 in Aurora.
Mrs. Frank was a lifelong resident of Aurora. She was employed by the Arbetman Brothers Coat Co. in Aurora for 21 years. Betty was a member of St. Therese Church for 70 years. She was also a member of the Moose Chapter #83, the Blessed Virgin Sodality of St. Therese Church and was a volunteer at Mercy Center Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Wilkinson of Burnsville, Minnesota; her son, Andrew (Melody) Frank of Aurora; her son-in-law, Robert Sleeth of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; nine grandchildren: Lynn & Peter Wilkinson, Christopher, Megan & Erin Frank and Kelly, Kimberly, Kristin & Nicole Sleeth; one brother, Joseph (Ethel) Toma of Boulder Hill; and her cousins, Mary Pauley & Paul Abraham.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Andrew Frank; her daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Sleeth on April 29, 2000; and her parents, Joseph S. Elizabeth (Rakoczy) Toma.
Betty will be remembered for her warm smile, love of her family and genuine concern for everyone around her.

Margaret B. Rahn, 81, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital. She was born September 24, 1919 in Aurora.
Margaret was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and the Magyar Cultural Society of Greater Cleveland, Ohio.
Survivors include her three daughters, Patricia (Alex) Apanius of Hudson, Ohio, Anna Marie Phillips of Denver, Colorado and Linda Breyne of Fayetteville, Georgia; two sons, William H. Harry Lee Van Etten, 49, of Big Rock, IL died suddenly Saturday, February 3, 2001 at his residence. He was born April 4, 1951 in Aurora, IL the son of Harold "Jr." and the late Jacqueline nee Mathers Van Etten.
Prior to being forced in to disability for health reasons he was engaged as an automobile mechanic and pursued his passion of motorcycle riding. He served his country honorably in the USMC serving in Viet Nam.
He is survived by his wife Linda L. nee Kwatt, a daughter Catherine Marie Van Etten-Kahl of Plano, IL; three sons Joseph (Becky) Domko of Sandwich, IL., Anthony Domko of Seiverville, TN, David Domko of Ottawa, IL, three grandchildren, his father, two sisters Carolyn (Mike) Batchelor of Compton, IL, Cathy (Steve) Marlatt of Sterling, Il., two brothers Larry Van Etten of FL, Michael (Cheryl) Van Etten of Plano, IL and by several nieces and nephews.

Wilbur H. Bywater, Sr.
Wilbur H. Bywater, Sr., 88, of Streamwood, IL passed away Monday, February 5, 2001 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. He was born December 28, 1912 in Connelsville, MO to Issac and Bessie Bywater.
Wilbur was A.M.P. in the Army during WWII. He was a former Boy Scout leader in Streamwood.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty F. (Bishop); a son, Steven (Carrie) Bywater; grandchildren, Amanda, John, Kimberly and Christopher; two sisters, Evelyn Johanson and Eva Corrigan; one brother, James Bywater and a dear friend, Shirley Robertson.

Ethelyn Louetta Dugger
Ethelyn Louetta Dugger, age 73, passed away on Saturday morning, February 3, 2001, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Aurora, where she had resided for the past two years.
She was the beautiful loving Mother of four children: Debra Lynn Dugger-Jennings of Vernon Hills, IL., Pam Dugger of Streamwood, IL., Lizbeth Ann O'Brien (Shawn) of Aurora, IL., and Scott Dugger (Lisa) of Cocoa, FL. Mrs. Dugger dearly loved, and was extremely proud of, her ten very special grandchildren: Jason (Kim) Elders of Bartlett, IL., Chad (Cathy) Elders of Streamwood, IL., Andy Elders of Streamwood, IL., Pamela Jennings, Beau Jennings and Lizbeth Jennings of Vernon Hills, IL., Sarah O'Brien and Patrick O'Brien of Aurora, IL., and Corey Dugger and Emily Dugger of Cocoa, FL.; and her two very special great-grandchildren: Daniel Lanier and Canaan Elders of Streamwood, IL.
Beloved sister of Robert W. Winkler of Herrin, IL., and Marian M. Hayes of Denver, CO., Mrs. Dugger was preceded in death by her father, Marion M. Winkler, and her mother, Eula Mae Vestel. She was formerly married to Bill N. Dugger of Herrin, IL., for 25 years prior to moving to the Chicago area in 1978.
Mrs. Dugger held a variety of positions in the business world throughout her career, most recently having worked for the Kirk Corporation in Streamwood, IL., as a bookkeeper for eight years before retiring. She will be lovingly remembered by family and friends alike for her devotion to her family, her generous heart and spirit, as well as her keen sense of humor.

Linda D. Howard
Linda D. Howard, 39, of Yorkville, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2001 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois. She was born on September 6, 1961 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of Sherman Lee and Lucille (Speed) Howard.
Linda was a 1979 graduate of Yorkville High School. She will be remembered as fun loving and always enjoyed her life to the fullest. She spent many happy times traveling and camping with her family and many friends.
She is survived by Al Mullenbach, the beloved father of her son, Adam Mullenbach both of Yorkville, Illinois; her mother and step-father, Lucille and Don Carlson of Aurora, Illinois; her brothers and sisters, Wayne (Dawn) Howard of Norway, Illinois, Eddie Howard of Aurora, Illinois, Debby Kruger of Owensboro, Kentucky, Pam (Steve) Schiltz of Sandwich, Illinois, Donna (Brian) Herzog of Somonauk, Illinois and Jeff (his fiancee, Amy) Carlson of Wedron, Illinois; as well as, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, who will miss her dearly.

Catherine E. Swanson
Catherine E. Swanson, age 88, of Waterman, Illinois passed away on Friday, February 2, 2001 at the Shabbona Nursing Home in Shabbona, Illinois.
She was born on March 17, 1912 in Dolton, Illinois, the daughter of Dr. Carl Heinrich and Pamella (Dolton) Thomsen.
Catherine was united in marriage on June 15, 1936 in Dolton, Illinois to Mr. Chester "Bill" Swanson and they spent the next 64 happy years of their lives together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Mrs. Swanson was a long time member of the Waterman United Methodist Church in Waterman, Illinois. Catherine was, for many years, both an English and Physical Education Teacher at the Waterman High School in Waterman, Illinois. She was a member of the National Educators Association. Catherine enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, cross-stitching, needlepoint and raising many African Violets. She and her husband Bill were former members of the Indian Oak Country Club in Shabbona, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Swanson of Waterman, Illinois; her children, William Boad (Patience) Swanson of Beloit, Wisconsin and Pamella Ellen (Paul) Sherman of Oakland, California; her seven grandchildren, Paul Fredrick Sherman, Jr. of Portland, Oregon, Kristin (David) Olnes of Oakland, California, Jennifer Sherman of San Francisco, California, Lisa Sherman of New York City, New York, Boad Steven (Katherine) Swanson of Superior, Wisconsin, Heide Catherine (Richard) Turner of Odessa, Texas and William C. (Tina) Swanson, of Beloit, Wisconsin; her twelve great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her five brothers and her sister.

Arthur Lewis Wittum
Arthur Lewis Wittum, 75, of Sullivan, IL., formerly of the Chicago area, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, IL., Tuesday, January 30, 2001 where he was an intermittent patient in recent months as he battled many health complications.
He was born November 8, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Arthur and Arvella (Wangrow) Wittum. Arthur attended Sullivan High School in Chicago and at seventeen he left school to enlist in the Army. He became a paratrooper and fought in the European theater. Arthur was decorated with the Bronze Star and several other honors for bravery. Many of his missions, however, took him to unknown places and ultimately cost him the secret suffering that stays with many veterans for a life-time. Returning home at the close of WWII, Arthur settled in Chicago where he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Gloria June Keys. The G.I. bill afforded him an education at Northwestern University where he earned degrees in science and speech. Soon however, a career in broadcasting was calling and he and Gloria were off to Louisiana. Next it was Minnesota, where his daughter was born, then back home to Chicago where his first son was born. Moving at last to California, he landed a position at KNX, one of the country's top stations. There he worked with such greats as Arthur Godfrey, Bob Crane. Those and many others of that era were familiar faces in the Wittum home. A man of enormous energy who required little sleep, Arthur spent most of his life working two jobs. He was a study in contrasts. On one hand he never lost the toughness he learned growing up in the Chicago neighborhoods yet he possessed a "touch of class" that allowed him to live and work among the rich and famous on the California coast. As time passed however, so did his "California Dreams", and the road to Chicago brought Arthur back to the city where he was born. He became a teacher in the public school system and there continued to teach until the mid-eighties when he retired. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Glenview, IL., the Medinah Temple Shrine, Chicago and several other fraternal organizations through the years.
He is survived by three children: Gloria Gayle Ann Wittum of Chicago, IL., Gregg Arthur Addison (Shannon) Wittum of the Suburban Chicago area and Alec (Mari) Wittum; three grandchildren: Jason, Elise and Diamone, all of the Chicago area, one sister, Audrey Katnik of Chicago, two nieces, Vickie Katnik and Elizabeth Baumer and one nephew, Robert Katnik.
He joins now his parents and his wife, Gloria, who precede him in death.
Memorial services to remember both he and his wife Gloria, will be held Saturday, February 10, at 11:00 a.m. with memorial visitation to precede the service for one hour from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., at the Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. The Rev. Loy Williams of St. Charles will officiate. Private cremation interment will be held later. Serena E. "Rena" Zuber
Serena E. "Rena" Zuber, 96, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2001 at Provena McAuley Manor. She was born September 16, 1904 in West Liberty, Illinois, the daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine (Yost) Zuber.
Serena was employed in the accounting department at Northern Illinois Gas Co. for over 40 years. She retired in 1968. She loved to travel. Her travels took her to China, the Panama Canal, the Grand Canyon, Hawaii; as well as, other places both in the United States and abroad. Serena was a member of St. Rita of Cascia Church in Aurora; as well as, St. Mary Church of the Assumption in St. Marie, Illinois.
Serena is survived by her sister, Loretta Zuber of St. Marie, Illinois; as well as, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Serena was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Jerome Zuber and four sisters, Estella Parisot, Clara Zuber, Mary Cunningham and Bernetta V. Zuber.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 9 at St. Mary Church of Assumption in St. Marie, Illinois. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, St. Marie, Illinois.
