John D. Jacobsen "Jack"
John D. Jacobsen (Jack) of Hillsboro Beach, Florida, formerly of Montgomery, Illinois and Long Island, New York, died on February 3, 2001 at the age of 67.
Jack was retired from Sheet Metal Local #265 in Dupage County, Illinois and local #28 in New York. He was a former Marine who proudly served in the Korean War and was an active member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his three loving daughters; Deborah Jacobsen of Ormond Beach, Florida, Karen Jensen (Jacobsen) of Nixa, Missouri and Kimberly Jacobsen of Corona Del Mar, California; his four granddaughters; Lindsey Jensen, Lauren Jensen, Allison Jensen and Avery Jensen, all of Nixa, Missouri; his siblings; Robert Jacobsen of Copique, New York, Richard Jacobsen of Montgomery, Illinois and Jean Cook (Jacobsen) of Oswego, Illinois.
Jack was a loving son, father, grandfather, and brother to his family. We miss you and you will live in our hearts forever.
Louise F. Schmidt
Louise F. Schmidt, 81, of Elburn, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2001 at her residence. She was born January 20, 1920 in Naperivlle Township, the daughter of John and Anna (nee-Schuster) Frieders.
Louise was a devoted homemaker for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, living through the many triumphs and hardships of farm life. She cherished her times spent with family and friends. Strong in her personal faith in God, she was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Geneva.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Lonna) Schmidt of Elburn; daughters, Ruthanne (Gary) Lewis of Merrimac, WI and Jean (John) Abner of Elburn; grandchildren, Brett (DeAnn) Lewis, Brian (Joni) Lewis, Lori (Chuck) Fiene, Brad (Angee) Lewis, Jim (Beth) Schmidt, Kevin Schmidt, Kelly (Matt) Durbala, Jason Abner, Jodi (Cory) Hauser, Joy and Julie Abner; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Schmidt of Aurora, Sister Mary Christina R.S.M. of Aurora; brothers, Carl Frieders of Aurora and Roy (Elaine) Frieders of Naperville; sisters in-law, Ceil Schwickert of Warrenville and Leone Schmidt of Warrenville.
She was preceded in death in 1998 by her husband of 58 years, Joseph and sisters, Leona, Gracie and Sister Mary Christine R.S.M.; sister-in-law, Marcella Frieders; and brothers-in-law, Nick Schwickert and Ralph Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. at the Malone Funeral Home. 324 E. State St. Geneva, proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church. 1891 Kaneville Rd. Geneva for Mass at 10:30 a.m. with Father John C. Fritz Celebrant. Burial will follow at Marywood Cemetery, Aurora.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 25, 2001 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m.

Caroline H. Walper
Caroline H. Walper, 86, of Montgomery, passed away Saturday, February 24th, 2001 at her son's home. She was born July 29th, 1914, in Bristol, Illinois, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Papke) Meyer. Mrs. Walper was a 1931 graduate of Oswego High School and worked at Anchor Brush Company for 13 years until her retirement in 1980.
She is survived by her son: Henry G. (Ruth) Walper of Montgomery; seven step-children: Bob (Joann) Walper of Florida, Don and Kenny Walper, both of Oswego, Dennis Walper of Plano, LuAnn (Ed) Nelson of Aurora, Sharon Todd of Texas, and Jessie (Mick) Schillinger of Tennessee; 24 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren; one brother: Robert (Wanda) Meyer of Arkansas; four sisters: Margaret (Delbert) Marklein and Beverly Bender, both of Yorkville, Francis Stash of Naperville and Betty Townsend of Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews.
Caroline is preceded in death by her husband: Arthur R. Walper; three step-sons: Richard, David and Jack Walper; one step-daughter: Dorothy Houghtby; one brother: Henry Meyer and one sister: Ruth Leifheit.

Clara E. Cowles, 89 of Aurora passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at Elmwood Nursing Center. She was born October 18, 1911 in Aurora to the late Jacob and Elizabeth Hauser.
Clara was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, member of Young at Heart Club, member of the women auxiliary Aurora Lodge #400 Loyal Order of the Moose, member of the Hiking Club and the Friendly Center of the Park District. Mrs. Cowles was very athletic having won awards in both ice skating and tennis. She was employed at Chicago-Aurora Tailoring Co. and also at Stephens-Adamson.
She is survived by her two daughters Bonnie (Dennis) Ardelean Nass of Aurora, Eleanor (Arthur) Fisher, Jr. of Geneva, one step-son, Bruce (Kaye) Cowles of New Jersey, two grandchildren, Daniel (Bonnie) Fisher of St. Charles, Diana (Rick) Jennings of Batavia, New York, one great-grandson, Richard Jennings, three step-grandchildren, Michael (Tracey) Cowles, John (Ruthann) Cowles, David (Karin) Cowles all of New Jersey and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hauser of Montgomery.

Marlene M. Schaefer
Marlene M. Schaefer, 67 years, of Montgomery, IL. died Sunday, February 25, 2001 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born September 26, 1933 in Aurora, IL.
Marlene was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL. She was a true example of of Christ's love. She lived a great life. She took every moment that God gave her and she gave it back to her family and friends. She was a bargain shopper and we know she's garage saling in heaven and teaching the angels and saints how to properly fold their robes. She was the best daughter a mother could have, the best sister a brother could have, the best wife a husband could ever ask for, the best mother a child/family could ever dream of and the best friend any of us ever had.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; four daughters, Debbie (Rickey) Wilson, of Maple Park, IL, Jenny Schaefer, of Lombard, IL., Brenda (Dan) Rompf of Big Rock, IL, Linda (James) Beyer of Newark, IL; two sons, John Schaefer and Gary Schaefer both of Montgomery, IL; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Kay Anderson of Aurora, IL; and a brother Ed (Virginia) Anderson of MO.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Schaefer; son, Scott Schaefer; and father, Walter Anderson.

Mathilda Larson Steiner, 103, of Aurora, passed away Friday, February 23, 2001 at Rush Copley Medical Center. She was born January 21, 1898 in Aurora.
Mathilda was a member of Our Lady of Good Council Church for over 50 years, she was also a member of Catholic Ladies Order of Foresters for over 70 years, she was a lifelong tailor in the Aurora area.
Survivors include her four sons, Dean B. Larson of Aurora, Frederick E. (Joyce) Larson of Florida, Donald L. (Rosemarie) Larson of Aurora and Gordon J. (Pamela) Larson of Yorkville, IL; 14 grandchildren, Mike (Terri) Reynolds, Jim Reynolds, Ann Walz, JoRene (John) Anderson, Craig (Pamela) Crosby, Lynelle (Brad) Pekoc, Pamela (Don) Berg, Stanley (Diane) Larson, Shirly (John) Theis, Barbara (Michael) Carnright, Nancy (Mark) Horton, Andrew (Jean) Larson, Steve (Marcey) Larson, Julie (Doug) Sherrell; 36 great grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

Willie Franklin "Frank" Bowen
Mr. Willie Franklin "Frank" Bowen, of Aurora, son of the late Clarence Sr. and Cora Bowen, was born on May 2, 1947 in Marshall County, MS. He departed this life on Saturday, February 24, 2001 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. He departed from his love of cooking, fishing, hunting and pranks. He was united in matrimony to Ollie Bowen. To this union they were blessed with two children, Kenneth Davis and Felicia Bowen, both of Aurora. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Ollie of Aurora; three loving daughters, Bobbie Jean Sanderson of Holly Springs, MS, Felicia Bowen and Dana Tennial, both of Aurora; one son, Kenny Davis of Aurora; two brothers, Arnell Bowen and Clarence Bowen, Jr., both of Byhalia, MS; three grandchildren, Myeshia, Darian and Shanice Sanderson, of Holly Springs, MS; seven sister-in-laws, Louise, Juanita and Gertie Davis, all of Aurora, Katie and Mattie Davis of Brooklyn, NY, Jenny Davis of Atlanta, GA and Fannie Head of ALA; three brother-in-laws, Jimmie Davis of Brooklyn, NY, Clifford Davis of ALA and Clord Davis of Aurora; one aunt and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved; three special friends, Roger James, Robert James Phillps and Willie Zollicoffer; and his very best friend, Earl Jones.

Deborah L. Gaines, 53, of Pekin, IL, passed away on Friday, February 23, at the Pekin Hospital.
She was the daughter of Bernice M. Dennin and the late Harold T. Dennin. Deborah was a graduate of East Aurora High School and worked at D.V.S. Inc. of Aurora, ADCO Inc., of Batavia, and Pekin Insurance in Pekin. She was a member of the Emmanuel Community Church.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford M. Gaines; her son, Kevin C. Kaufenberg, of Schaumburg, IL; her mother, Bernice M. (Beyer) Dennin, of Aurora; three brothers, Harold (Patti) Dennin of Park Ridge, IL, Ronald (Flora) Dennin of Waterman, IL and Rick (Lynda) Dennin of North Aurora; a sister, Brona (Bobbi) Dennin of Aurora; many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold T. Dennin.

Elizabeth Ann Cowan Kirkpatrick
Elizabeth Ann Cowan Kirkpatrick, 92, died Friday (Feb. 23) at Rogue Valley Manor, Medford, Oregon.
She was born July 25, 1908 Paullina, Iowa, the 11th child of Hector and Edith (Parsons) Cowan. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, and then Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, before working for Montgomery Ward Company. On November 23, 1938, she married David Easton Kirkpatrick, of Somonauk, Illinois, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick was a homemaker, piano teacher and schoolteacher in Yellow Springs, Ohio, for many years. Her hobbies were bridge and music. She sang for a while with the Robert Shaw Chorale. She was active in the Presbyterian Church her entire life and served as elder and Sunday School superintendent. Later in life she attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1970 at age 62.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick and her husband moved to California and then Oregon after retirement. Survivors include two sons, David C. Kirkpatrick, MD, of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Douglas B. Kirkpatrick, MD, of Medford, Oregon; two daughters Susan A. Coons, of Santa Rosa, California, and Edith A. Richmond, of Carmichael, California; and 13 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or synagogue of choice.
A memorial service will be held at Oak Mound Cemetery, Somonauk, Illinois, at 1PM on Saturday, March 3, 2001.

Annette Davis Quinonez 52, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital. She was born March 17, 1948 in Aurora.
Loved always by her three children, Richard Davis, Marjorie Davis and Veronica Ritter; three grandchildren Paul Espinosa, Ricky Davis and Lexus Ritter; three sisters Katie (Doran) Huppert, Elaine (Charles) Nowlin and Judith (Michael) Forrest; three brothers, Ronald (Sharon) Sickler, Kenneth (Sharon) Sickler and Ralph (Sara) Sickler Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Emily Mae Sickler Sr.; two sisters Arlene Sickler and Marlene Sickler; one brother Raymond Sickler.

Donald James Remington
Donald James Remington, 44, of Pittsburg, died Monday, February 25, 2001 in Pittsburg.
He was born May 14, 1956 in Pittsburg, KS., a son of James Butler and Hazel Darlene (Robbins) Remington, Sr.
At an early age, he moved with his family to Illinois. He attended Sugar Grove Grade School in Illinois and graduated from Kaneland High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1981 until 1984. He worked as a pipe fitter at Midwest Pipe Line Construction in Chicago and later at Print Excel in Girard since 1988. He attended the Victory Life Center in Pittsburg. He was a former member of the George C. Brown Post #26, American Legion of Girard and an avid golfer.
He is survived by: two sons, Donald Jay Remington of the home in Pittsburg and Joseph Shane Remington of Pittsburg; his mother Hazel Darlene Strause of Yorkville, IL; his step-father Carl Strause of Yorkville, IL; three brothers: Jerry Dean Remington of Aurora, IL, Robert Rex Remington of Sugar Grove, IL, John Wayne Remington of DeKalb, IL; two sisters: Candice Remington of Springfield, IL and Janice Kay Remington of Yorkville, IL; two step-brothers: Jeff Strause of Sandwich, IL and Terry Strause of Columbia, MO; one step-sister: Carla Ann Strause of Farlington, KS; and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Butler Remington, Jr.; his grandparents; James Butler Remington, Sr., Laura Fernetti, and Ralph and Hazel Robbins; and two uncles, Donald J. Robbins and Ralph Eugene Robbins.
Funeral services for Donald James Remington will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Don Talent officiating. Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery with flag folding and presentation by the George C. Brown Post #26, American Legion of Girard. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday. George H. Doucet
George H. Doucet, age 80 of Oswego, Illinois, passed away at his home on February 28, 2001. He is a former resident of LaGrange Park and Berwyn and was born December 30, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. He was married to Lucille Doucet who preceded him in death.
George was a Veteran of WWII. He was employed as a radiological technician for the State of Illinois and he was a member of the American Legion, Robert E. Coulter Post 1934, LaGrange, the American Nuclear Society and the Disabled Veterans.
George is survived by his children, Diane (Ricky) McCallough and Pat (Michael) O'Mahoney, his grandchildren, Christopher, David, Kelley and Steven and his sister, Dorothy Kubiak.

Arliene L. Bates, 85, of Ft. Pierce, Florida, formerly of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2001 in Florida. She was born June 14, 1915 in Waterman, IL.
Arliene was an organist, choir director and taught Sunday school at Plano Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Aurora Moose.
She is survived by her husband, Francis Bates of Ft.
