Dr. Philip Brian Myers, M.D.
Dr. Philip Brian Myers, M.D., age 45, of Yorkville, formerly of Naperville, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich. He was born on May 21, 1955 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Gerald E. and Roberta (Imlay) Myers.
Brian was united in marriage on July 3, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada to the former Deborah Blossey; and they spent the next 11 years of their lives together,. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle, who will be deeply missed by family and many friends.
Dr. Myers was a member of the Yorkville Congregational Church in Yorkville, Illinois. Brian was a 1986 graduate of Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He was presently employed at the Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich. Brian was very dedicated to his profession, and had served as a Medical Missionary with both the Health Volunteers and the Red Cross in Honduras and Tanzania. He was an avid hunter, who enjoyed spending time out-of-doors with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Deb Myers of Yorkville; his four children, Paul, age 10, Scott, age 8 and twin daughters, Melissa and Wendy, age 5, all at home in Yorkville; his father, Gerald E. (Gisele) Myers of Yorkville; his brothers, Evan (Joette) Myers of Naperville and Mark (Linda) Myers of Palm Harbor, Florida; his sisters, Jerriann (Donald) Myers Wilson of Severna Park, Maryland and Holly Myers of Chicago; as well as, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Myers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2001 at the Yorkville Congregational Church. 409 Center Parkway in Yorkville with Reverend Steven Boorsma officiating. Interment will be private.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2001 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Homes. 410 E. Countryside Parkway in Yorkville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Brian's memory may be directed to an education fund being established for his children, or to the Anesthesia Overseas in Tanzania Fund.

Irvin E. Vance
Irvin E. Vance, 80, of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 2, 2001 in his home. He was born Jan. 5, 1921 in Aurora.
Mr. Vance served with the U.S. Air Force for 23 years until his retirement in 1964 and then with the State of Illinois, Secretary of State office for 17 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #400 in Aurora, the Tiger Club, Montgomery V.F.W. Post #7452 and the Fox Valley Military Retirees Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lenora "Lynn" Vance of Aurora; two sons, Terry E. (Tana) Vance of Aurora and Dennis D. (Denise) Vance of Pearle City, Ill.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin E. and Mary (Drees) Vance.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2001 at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway (Rt. 25), Montgomery, Tom Weisner will be giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military services.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home.

Betty Denny Westphall
Betty Denny Westphall, age 76, of Yorkville, formerly of Aurora, passed away on Thursday March 1, 2001 at the Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois. She was born on May 20, 1934 in Cherokee, Iowa the daughter of Leo and Esther (Schwartz) Stratton.
Betty was employed for over 25 years by the Vendo Corporation in Aurora, Illinois. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling with her family and friends. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her children Louis F. Denny of Aurora, Illinois, Peggy (Duane) Keenan of Bristol, Illinois and Patricia (Doug) Boisso of Yorkville, Illinois; her grandchildren, Dawn (Kevin) Kaine of Wisconsin, Michael (Luz) Keenan of Aurora, Duane Jr. (Mary) Keenan of Wisconsin, Dwight (Tena) Keenan of Minnesota, Dustin (Rosie) Keenan of Montgomery, Roxanne Denny of Sycamore, Connie Rodriguez of Aurora, Amy Clausel of Yorkville, and Shari (Phil) Chapman of Newark, as well as her eleven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Francis in 1983.
Funeral services for Mrs. Westphall will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 5, 2001 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway in Yorkville, Illinois with Pastor Sue Holstrom, officiating. Interment will follow in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Aurora, Illinois.

Elaine B. Balika
Elaine B. Balika, 75, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2001 at her home. She was born January 30, 1926 in Chicago.
Elaine was very involved with her daughter's business, Volkman Transcription Service (S.O.S.) and was an accomplished soloist in the area for many years. She was a graduate of Madonna High School and was a member of the Ladies of the Moose.
Survivors include her daughter, Geralyn (Jeff) Volkman of Aurora; her son, Paul (Kathy) Balika of Sycamore; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Balika-Smith of St. Charles; 5 grandchildren: Matthew & Gregory Volkman, John (Shere) Balika, and Brenton & Bradley Balika; 2 brothers: Jerry (Sherry) Jarka of Richardson, Texas, and Charles (Dorothy) Jarka of Marseilles, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Balika in 1983; her son, Michael; her parents, Stanley and Vera (Boltz) Jarka, Sr.; a brother Stanley Jarka, Jr.; and a sister, Patricia Weekly.
Funeral from The Daleiden Lake St. Mortuary Thursday, March 22, 2001 at 9:30 AM to Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 AM. Msgr. Edward S. Wright will officiate. Theresa G. Blair
Mrs. Theresa G. Blair, 73, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2001 at her home.
She was born on March 12, 1928 in Greenville, Alabama the daughter of the late C.B. and Theresa (Goldsmith) Hartley. Mrs. Blair was employed as a Mental Health Specialist for Elgin Hospital for 35 years.
Theresa is survived by one daughter Linda (Clarence) Dunmore of Vicksburg, MS; three grandchildren Clarence, Tiffany and Joseph; one brother Ralph Hartley of Greenville, Alabama, sister Ruby Johnson of Clovis, NM and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilson Blair, one brother Clarence Hartley and one sister Florence Watkins.
Funeral services will all be private.

R. Arline Boring
R. Arline Boring age 90 of Sandwich, IL passed away March 19, 2001 at Valley West Community Hospital, Sandwich, IL. She was born April 16, 1910 in rural Sandwich the daughter of Rasmus and Anna (Tuttle) Knutson.
Arline was united in marriage to Orville Boring on July 27, 1932 in Millbrook, IL. Arline was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sandwich, Fox Valley Older Adults, Sandwich, and a 50 year member of Victor Homemakers Club.
Survivors include one sister Thelma (Wallace) Beardsley Sr. of Newark, IL, nieces and nephews, Wallace (Norma) Beardsley Jr. of Sheridan, IL, Ruth Ann Benoist, of Las Vegas, NV, Alice (Richard) Mathre of Newark, IL, Nyla (Terry) Winchell of Sterling, IL, and a brother-in-law Bernell Rhodes of Somonauk, IL and many great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald, her husband, Orville on September 17, 1992, her sister Elenore Rhodes, and a nephew Norman Rhodes.

Virginia A. Dannewitz
Virginia A. Dannewitz, age 75, of Plano, Illinois passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2001 at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora, Illinois.
She was born on October 13, 1925 in Aurora, Illinois the daughter of John and Christine (Severson) Pommier. Virginia was united in marriage on June 24, 1949 in Aurora to Mr. Harold Dannewitz and they spent the next 51 years of their lives together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Mrs. Dannewitz will be remembered for the many blue ribbons that she was awarded at the Sandwich Fair for her lovely sewing projects. Virginia was also a talented writer and had had several of her poems published. She also loved music and was a talented organist. Virginia enjoyed helping others and at one time volunteered as a Gray Lady at Hines Veterans Hospital in Maywood, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, Harold, of Plano, Illinois; her daughter Linda and her husband, Anthony Sperb of Gurnee, Illinois; her grandson, Jason Sperb, of Gurnee, Illinois; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ralph Pommier, her sisters, Laura Worley, Geraldine Rosenstiel, Isabel McGowan and Lillian Pommier.
Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at the Larson Funeral Home in Plano, Illinois with the Reverend Scott Secrest of the First Baptist Church of Plano officiating. Gene W. Dillenburg
Gene W. Dillenburg, 72, of Montgomery passed away Monday, March 19, 2001, at Countryside Healthcare Center. He was born March 18, 1929 in Aurora, IL., the son of the late William F. & Lillian (Stainfield) Dillenburg.
Mr. Dillenburg was employed at Geneva Construction Co. for 32 years and after that he worked on various road and bridge jobs until his early retirement in 1991. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War serving with the 14th Engineer Combat Battalion, 1169th Group. He became a squad leader and demolition sergeant in 1951 & 1952. He received the United Nations Service Medal & Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star. His group helped build the Freedom Gate Bridge, across the Imjin River in 1952, during the truce talks for the exchange of prisoners of war.
He was a life time member of the Montgomery V.F.W. Post 7452, a life member of the V.F.W. National Home of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, a member of the American Legion, Post 2910 of Bloomington, IL., a member of local #638, Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons Union of the U.S. & Canada. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Forestors, Fox Valley Court #1077, an associate member of the Illinois Sheriffs Association & a life member of the Aurora Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, Agnete M. (Hart) Dillenburg, of Montgomery; four sons, Frederich, Kurt and Erich (Cheryl) Dillenburg, all of Montgomery and Ralph (Salud) Dillenburg of West Chicago; two daughters, Anna Weber of Montgomery and Helen (Robert) Motley, of Aurora; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Franklin Dillenburg of Sugar Grove; one sister, Albertine Dillenburg of Sandwich, IL; and one sister-in-law, Betty Dillenburg, of Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father in January of 1951; his mother in January of 1983; two brothers, Henry in 1939 and Earl W. Dillenburg in June of 1995; one grandson, Jason A. Boston in December of 1995; and one sister, Charmaine Eggering in 1992.
Visitation for Mr. Dillenburg will be held at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 So. Broadway (Route 25), Montgomery, IL. on Wednesday, March 21st, 2001, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Dieterle Memorial Home, Pastor Loghlin Sarbu will officiate with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery. Ronald Lamar Hodges
Ronald Lamar Hodges, 72, formerly of Chicago passed away March 10, 2001 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL.
Ronald was born May 28, 1928 to Earl and Rosie (Hill) Hodges in Clarysville, Mississippi. Ronald is a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army from September 18, 1947 until August 20, 1951. In 1956 he became employed by the CTA as a bus driver until his retirement in 1988. In February of this year Ronald and his wife Yvonne moved to the Firwood Health Care Center in Batavia.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne two sons Lester Earl Hodges, Ron Hodges Jr.; daughter Grace "Sissi: Greenlee; three brothers Eddy Hodges, Charles Hodges, Lynwood Donald Hodges; four sisters Sharon Couch, Evelyn Jackson, Sue Hardy, Deanie Hughey.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jimmy Don Hodges.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001 at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago. Rev. Steve Miller will officiate.

Marvin "Marv" C. Jothen
Marvin "Marv" C. Jothen, 80, of Cashton, WI., formerly of Shorewood, IL. and Wesby, WI., died peacefully at his home surrounded by a family circle of love on Sunday, March 18, 2001.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at the North Coon Prairie Church at 11:00 a.m. Pastor John Stennes-Spidahl will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ronald Petoskey
Ronald Petoskey, 45, left this earth with God His Savior, March 19, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer the last two years. He was born May 7, 1955 in Newark, Ohio. He grew up in Mooseheart where he graduated with his mother and family.
He is survived by Denise Petoskey, his wife, and their children, Laura, Ronald Jr. and Brandon. Ronald is also survived by his loving and caring mother, Marjorie Petoskey Gaither, caring brothers, Jerry (Kim) of Oswego, David of Aurora, Stephen of Aurora, Richard (Jackie) of Crete, Randall of Roadhouse, IL., sister, Linda (Al) Dokman of North Aurora, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Petoskey and brother, Larry Petoskey of Newark, Ohio.

Esther D. Pulfer
Esther D. Pulfer, 95, of Carmel, Indiana, formerly of Aurora passed away on Monday, March 19, 2001 at home. She was born on December 21, 1905 in Frankfort, Indiana.
Esther was a member of New England Congregational Church as well as the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter DD of Aurora, Illinois.
Survivors include her son, Robert (Dorothy) Pulfer of Carmel, Indiana; her daughter, Kathy (John) Morley, Jr. of Dixon, IL; six grandchildren, Carolyn (Bart) Southworth of North Richland Hills, Texas, John (Diana) Morley III of Dixon, IL, James Pulfer of Carmel, Indiana, Mike Morley of Dixon, IL, Chuck Pulfer of Carmel, Indiana and Stephanie Pulfer of Carmel, Indiana; and well as three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles F. Pulfer; six brothers, Arthur, Joe, Floyd, Vernon, Wendall and Harold Hutchison; and two sisters, Mary Melchert and Frances Lilley.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 22, 2001 at New England Congregational Church with Rev. Gary McCann officiating. Interment will take place at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora.

Horst H. Ruhnow
Horst H. Ruhnow, 70, of Margate, Florida, formerly of Aurora passed away March 11, 2001 at University Hospital in Tamarac, Florida. He was born December 1, 1930 in Germany.
Mr. Ruhnow was employed at Sealmaster Bearing in Aurora for 25 years. While he resided in Florida, Mr. Ruhnow was employed by IBM and JP Morgan Chase.
Mr. Ruhnow is survived by his wife, Dolores Ruhnow of Margate, Florida; his son, Harvey Ruhnow of Saverton, Missouri; his daughter, Donna (Donald) Porcelli of Pompano Beach, Florida; three sisters, Inge Beckman, Irma Lembcke, Siglinde Merkel; two brothers, Amo Ruhnow and Herwart Ruhnow and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hermann and Anna Ruhnow.
A memorial service was held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Suzzette Dorothy Stenson-Sheldon
Suzzette Dorothy Stenson-Sheldon, age 52 of North Aurora, IL passed away in her home on March 19, 2001 after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.
Sue was the daughter of William A. and Dorothy C. Stenson of North Aurora, IL and sister to Graham, William Jr., Camilla and Bruce Stenson.
A life long resident of the Fox River Valley, Suzzette spent her life serving her community and helping others. The last years of her life were spent creating beautiful flower and gardening displays for valley businesses and residences.
Credits to her life include: Director of Therapeutic activities, First Healthcare Enterprises, Inc. Aurora; Supervisor of Grounds, St. Charles Park Dist., St. Charles IL; Activities Director, Asbury Court Retirement Center, North Aurora, IL; Director of Parks and Recreation, City of Yorkville, IL; Coordinator of Yorkville Beecher Community Building, City of Yorkville, IL; Physical Education Instructor/Women's Gymnastics Coach, Waubonsee Community College, Sugar Grove, IL; Tumbling Instructor, North Aurora Community Center.
She also served her community on the following endeavors: Waubonsee Community College Advisory Committee; Illinois Parks and Recreation Association; Fox River Activity Professionals Association; Yorkville Sesquicentennial Committee; Region II Area Aging Kendall County Sr. Citizens program; North Aurora Civic and community functions; Neighborhood Representative and Speaker, North Aurora; Kane County Service Provider Fair, Senior Exposition; North Aurora Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Bruce.
Carrying on her memory is her husband Gary J. Sheldon and the families of her son Richard and Erica Heth; Graham and Kelly Stenson; William and Sandy Stenson; Camilla Barnett; James and Deanna Brooks; four grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
In her memory and in support of the fight against brain cancer, the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Neuro-Oncology Research Fund at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, 2625 Ridge Rd., Evanston, IL 60201.
A memorial visitation will be held in Aurora at Healy Chapel on West Downer Place on March 23, 2001 between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
