Donald Eugene Anderson
Donald E. Anderson, 68, of St. Charles died Monday, March 19, 2001 at Delnor Hospital of a heart attack. He was born in Aurora, IL on February 27, 1933 the son of Ralph and Jeanette (Malmer) Anderson. He attended the West Aurora Schools graduating from West High in 1951. He graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. in 1955. He served two years in the United States Navy.
Don is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dee (Enger); his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and John Anderson; and his grandson, Evan Timothy. Additional survivors include his sister-in-law, Carol Anderson of Barrington; his brother-in-law, Burdette (Ella Mae) Enger of Chatfield MN, as well as several nieces and nephew.
Don was preceded in death by his son, Timothy; brother, Tom; and his parents.
He was a life long member of Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora and currently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran in St. Charles. Don retired as Vice President of Human Resources from Lyon Metal in Aurora, IL in 1998 after 18 years. Prior to this, Don was employed at All-Steel of Aurora in personnel.
Don was one of the founding parents of Chicago's Ronald McDonald House and served on the board for many years and several terms as President. He served as the first operations manager of the House developing standards and procedures that are used in Ronald McDonald Houses around the United States today. Don was a counselor for the first American Dream Flight taking child cancer patients to Walt Disney World.
In 1981 Don received the Kiwanis Club of Aurora "Service to God and Fellow Man" award. Don received from the Aurora McDonalds Restaurants Owners the Outstanding Efforts award for his work with the Ronald McDonald House of Chicago.
Don served two terms as the President of Fox Valley Hospice, was the immediate Past President, and has been a member since 1981. Don was a member of the Valley Personnel Association and the O.F. Senior Personnel Society.

Visitation will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles, 1145 N. 5th Ave., from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23rd. Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles. Rev. Rod Broker officiating. Following the funeral services will be interment at River Hills Cemetery in Batavia. Luncheon at the church follows.

Elaine B. Balika
Elaine B. Balika, 75, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2001 at her home. She was born January 30, 1926 in Chicago.
Elaine was very involved with her daughter's business, Volkman Transcription Service (S.O.S.) and was an accomplished soloist in the area for many years. She was a graduate of Madonna High School and was a member of the Ladies of the Moose.
Survivors include her daughter, Geralyn (Jeff) Volkman of Aurora; her son, Paul (Kathy) Balika of Sycamore; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Balika-Smith of St. Charles; 5 grandchildren: Matthew & Gregory Volkman, John (Shere) Balika, and Brenton & Bradley Balika; 2 brothers: Jerry (Sherry) Jarka of Richardson, Texas, and Charles (Dorothy) Jarka of Marseilles, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Balika in 1983; her son, Michael; her parents, Stanley and Vera (Boltz) Jarka, Sr.; a brother Stanley Jarka, Jr.; and a sister, Patricia Weekly.
Funeral from The Daleiden Lake St. Mortuary was held Thursday, March 22, 2001 at 9:30 AM to Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 AM. Msgr. Edward S. Wright officiated. A private burial service will take place at a later date. Marvis H. Best, 73, formerly of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at Delnor Community Hospital. She was born March 4, 1928 in Oak Park, IL, the daughter of the late Walter and Natalie (Kruse) Helfers.
Mrs. Best was a resident of Pineview Care Center in St. Charles, IL.
Survivors include three brothers, Donald (Joan) Helfers of Aurora, Gerald (Mary) Helfers of St. Charles, IL and Dennis (Mary) Helfers of Hilliard, Ohio; two sisters, Norma Padrta of Des Plaines, IL and Vivian (George) Eberly of Plano; a step daughter, Rikki (James) Degnan and a step granddaughter, Vonnie Degnan both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; as well as her dear friends, Rhoda Auerbach and John and Helen Peters of Arizona; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Marvis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Best; and three sisters, Shirley (Robert) Phillips, Natalie and Caroline Helfers.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, March 26, 2001 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora with Rev. Wayne Miller officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 PM until the time of the service.

Mary Margaret Camp
Mary Margaret Camp, 86 of Mission Texas, was born to eternal life on January 10, 2001 in McAllen, Texas. Margaret was born October 1, 1914 in Havelock, Nebraska to John and Johanna Nelson.
She married Lewis Madison Camp on June 29, 1940. She and Lewie raised their family in Aurora, IL and lived in Brussels, Belgium and Aplington, IA before retiring to Mission, Texas.
Margaret is survived by sons Steven (Mary Ellen) Camp of Aurora, IL and Michael (Bonnie) Camp of Waukesha, WI, a daughter Nancy Camp (Bob Jones) of Carey, ID, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at 3 PM from The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora, with Rev. Gary McCann officiating. Memorial visitation will be on March 31, 2001 from 2 PM until the service time. Private interment in Lincoln Memorial Park.

Dr. Vernon L. Evans, 96, of Hudson, Ohio, formerly of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 23, 2001. He was born May 23, 1904 in Chicago.
Survivors include his three children, Elizabeth (James) Brennan of Hudson, OH, William (Randi) Evans of Brainbridge Island, WA and Vernon (Jane) Evans of Annandale, VA; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by wife, Anna in 1992; his parents, Abraham and Elizabeth; and a sister, Mary Grimes.

Arnold J. Thill
Arnold J. Thill, 79, lifelong resident of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 23, 2001 at Jennings Terrace. He was born March 21, 1922 in Aurora.
Mr. Thill was a member of Holy Angels Church. He was a retired, 50 year employee of FM Graphic Impressions Inc. (formerly Finch and McCullough); a member of Amvets #103 and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his son, David (Mary Beth) Thill of Sugar Grove; his daughter, Janet (Gregg) Parker of Charlotte, North Carolina; his sister, Lorraine Thill; and his granddaughter, Margaret "Meg" Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Cathrine (Schomer) Thill; and his brother, Donald (late Beatrice) Thill.

Virginia "Ginny" Gossett Anderson
Virginia "Ginny" Gossett Anderson, 69, of Plano, Illinois passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was born on March 8, 1932 on the family farm in Kendall County, the daughter of Alvin and Emelia (Swanson) Henker. Mrs. Anderson had lived in the Plano and Yorkville areas for most of her life.
Virginia was united in marriage to John "Ed" Anderson; and they spent many happy years together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville. Virginia retired from Caterpillar Tractor in Montgomery, where she had been employed for many years as a safety inspector. She was involved in charity work and was at this time a volunteer at the Gainesville Missouri Public Library. Virginia enjoyed fishing, golfing and making lovely flower arrangements. But what she enjoyed most, was spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, John "Ed" Anderson of Plano; her sons, Robert Beck of Sandwich, David (Elizabeth) Beck and Jim (Lisa) Beck both of Plano; her loving grandchildren, Pat and Ryan Beck, Billy Sills, Matthew and Sarah Beck, Eric and Michael Beck; her sister, Elaine (Jerry) Beck of Plano; her niece, Carolyn (Steve) Cole of Glen Ellyn and her nephew, Ron Beck of DeKalb.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2001 at Cross Lutheran Church. Rt. 47, Yorkville with the Pastor Brian Truog officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Yorkville.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2001 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home. 410 E. Countryside Parkway in Yorkville.

Gerald R. Burton
Gerald R. Burton, 56, of Dandridge, TN passed away Saturday, March 24, 2001. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge. He was also a retired employee of Southwestern Bell. Mr. Burton was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and Vietnam Conflict. Preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Anella Burton; brothers, Wilbur Burton, Merle Burton and Raymond Burton.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Burton of Dandridge; two daughters, Kristina Burton of Aurora, CO and Barbara (Steve) Hodges of Concorde, NC; two grandsons, Joshua and Caleb Hodges; four brothers, Kenneth Burton of Argyle, WI, Wayne Burton of Fernley, NV, Gene Burton of North Aurora, IL and John Burton of Maple Park, IL; and a sister, Ruth Dortch of McAllen, TX.

Dr. Vernon L. Evans
1904 - 2001
Dr. Vernon L. Evans, 96, of Hudson, Ohio, formerly of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 23, 2001.
He was a member of Holy Angels Church in Aurora, IL.
Dr. Evans served the Aurora community in the private practice of medicine for nearly 50 years, from 1936 until his retirement in 1979.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1904. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and in 1929, he graduated from Loyola University Medical School. Following his internship at Chicago's Mercy Hospital, Dr. Evans held a Clinical Fellowship in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for 3 years. He became a Certified Member of the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1938 and of the American Board of Psychiatry in 1945. Dr. Evans served 3 terms of President of the medical staff of the former St. Joseph Mercy Hospital (currently, Provena Mercy Center Hospital) in Aurora. He was also a former President of the Kane County Medical Society.
As an active member of the Aurora community, Dr. Evans helped to organize the Local Chapters of the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
Dr. Evans is survived by his three children, Elizabeth (James) Brennan of Hudson, OH, William (Randi) Evans of Bainbridge Island, WA. and Vernon (Jane) Evans Jr. of Annandale, VA; nine grandchildren and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Anna (Borcherding) Evans in 1992; his parents, Abraham and Elizabeth (Gauin) Evans; and his sister, Mary Grimes.

Fabio N. Rincon
Fabio N. Rincon, 77 of Spring, Texas, passed away on March 4, 2001 in Houston, Texas.
He was born on September 10, 1923 in Girardot, Columbia, South America. He was a resident of Chicago, Illinois from 1963 to 1978 where he was employed by Amoco Corp. and International Mineral and Chemical Corp. He lived in Houston from 1978 until the present, where he had retired from Amoco Corp. He was a member of Saint Ita's Parish in Chicago
He is survived by his loving wife Olga G. Rincon; loving sons Fabio E. Rincon, Dr. Mario F. Rincon and Ricardo A. Rincon and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Christina Marie, Laura Nicole, Kelly Ann and Carolina Alexis.
Memorial services were held at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houston, Texas.
Lauri Lynn Baketz
Lauri Lynn Baketz (nee Hessing), age 41, departed this life on Friday, March 23, 2001. born November 27, 1959 in Tulsa, OK. to Robert C. and Valjean (nee McCarty) Hessing.
Lauri was a graduate of St. Charles High School Class of 1978. She married Michael Baketz on April 17, 1980 in Geneva, IL. Attended N.I.U. and E.C.C. and obtained her nursing degree in 1982. After graduation, she worked at Delnor-Community Hospital until deciding to take time off to raise their children, Jennifer, Erin and David. In 1998, she returned to work, this time as a school teacher for the Little Bit Country Preschool in Geneva. Baptized on July 29, 1999, she became a member of the Fox Valley Christian Church in Batavia, IL.
She is survived by her husband; three children; her mother; brothers, Bart Hessing and Brad Hessing; and sister, Jane Ann Beach.
She is preceded in death by her father.
We had a wonderful opportunity to know you Lauri and to be part of your life. Thank you for sharing so much with us. You honored us with your laughter, your tears, your happiness and your sadness. Your contagious smile will continue to be passed along and we will always feel you next to us and in our hearts. A most wonderful woman has gone ahead to wait for us. Thank you to all whom offered love and prayers.

John B. Buck
John B. Buck, 61, of Elgin, passed away Monday, March 26, 2001 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
He was born February 16, 1940 in Joliet, the son of Blasius and Vivian (Cangelosi) Buck.
He was a 1958 graduate of Lockport High School, and following a tour of duty in the U. S. Navy, he worked at Paddock Equipment of Plainfield and subsequently at Perkins Implement Company of Yorkville. In November of 1972, he and partner Bob Twait purchased the Johnson Equipment Company of Sheridan and Oswego, which they then renamed the Twait and Buck John Deere Dealership. In 1977, he purchased the Huntley Farm Store which would evolve in Buck Bros. John Deere.
In 1987, he established J.W. Turf, a founding distributor of J.D. golf and turf maintenance equipment; in this capacity, he was able to blend his passion for the game of golf and for technological innovations in this new area of John Deere product development. Over time, he won numerous awards for these contributions, and his expertise came to be nationally regarded as an asset to the John Deere Corporation. The J.W. Turf division has now expanded to include stores in Horicon, Wisconsin and Davenport, IA.
Surviving are his wife, Holly L. (Gilmore) Buck; two daughters, Denise (Mark) Philpot of Flower Mound, TX and Shelley (Ambrose) Seyller of Elgin; his mother, Vivian Buck of Lockport; five grandchildren, Kris Matt, and Kellie Philpot and Hannah and Halle Seyller; five brothers and sisters, Mary (Vic) Hammond of Plainfield, Virginia (Charles) Anderson of Ridgecrest, CA, R. Sam (Donna) Buck of Lockport, Paul (Cindi) Buck of Yorkville and Theresa Buck of Lockport; many nieces and nephews; his dog, Oscar; and innumerable devoted friends and both former and current employees.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1969.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Friday, March 30, 2001 at the First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main St., Huntley with the Rev. Betty Zattau officiating. Burial with Military Honors will take place at 3 PM in the Wheatland Presbyterian/Scotch Church Cemetery in Plainfield.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the First Congregational Church in Huntley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the John B. Buck Memorial Fund to establish a scholarship in his name for the benefit of deserving students.
