Walter "Bud" Larsen
Mr. Walter "Bud" Edwin Larsen, 83, of Sheridan died Sunday morning, August 20th at his home.
Mr. Larsen was born August 27, 1916 in Sheridan to Walter H. and Hulda (Nickel) Larsen. He was a life long resident of Sheridan and had served as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Esther (Thompson) August 11, 1951 in Sheridan. He had worked many years for the Illinois Dept. of Transportation. He then worked at the Sheridan Correctional Center and was a driver for Willard Morsch Trucking. He retired in 1985 from the Sheridan Sanitary District. He was a member of the Sheridan American Legion Post #729.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Larsen of Sheridan and a cousin Robert Nickel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lola Morel.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 23Rd at the Larson-Gabel Funeral Home Ltd., 335 W. Church St., Sheridan, IL 60551-0027, phone (815) 496-2003, with the Rev's Deb Porter and John McClimans officiating. Burial will be at the Sheridan Cemetery with military honors presented by the Sheridan American Legion Post #729. Visitation will be one hour to the service on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Bob Yuhas, Terry Hapke, Merle Fritsch, Jeff Tomlin, Willard Thompson and Lane Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Bristol and Bob Stecher.

Lynne H. Nord
Lynne H. Nord, 50, of DeKalb, died Saturday, August 19, 2000 at her home. She was born Nov. 24, 1949 in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Copelin) Hogan. She married Steven Nord on Dec. 23, 1972 in DeKalb.
Lynne was employed at Northern Illinois University as a secretary for Career Planning and Placement for 20 years. She was very active in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Northshore Animal League. She was also a member of the DeKalb Wesleyan Church and the Genealogical Society.
She is survived by her husband, Steven of DeKalb; one son, Scott Nord of DeKalb and her mother, Ruth Hogan of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Paul.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thurs., Aug. 24 from 5-7 p.m. at the Butala Funeral Home & Crematory in Sycamore, followed by a Memorial Service at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ray Anderson officiating.

Doris L. Anderson
Doris L. Anderson, age 80, of St. Charles, IL died Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at Firwood Nursing Home, Batavia, IL. She was born January 27, 1920 in Barney, ND.
In 1942 and 1943, she served in the WASC. Miss Anderson was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Charles and the American Legion Post #342.
Survivors include her brother, Glenn Anderson of St. Charles; his sister, Bertha Piper of Anamosa, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Mabel Anderson; one brother, LeRoy Anderson and four sisters, Christabel Graver, Helen L. Anderson, June Ziegler and Ethel Olson.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Union Cemetery, St. Charles. Rev. Jane Kunzie-Brunner will officiate. Helen "Sue" L. Betz
Helen "Sue" L. Betz, 51 of Aurora, passed away Wednesday December 27, 2000 at Rush-Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora after a three month battle with cancer. She was born January 10, 1949 in Aurora, IL.
She was employed by Harris Bank as an executive Vice-President retiring in May of 1999. She was previously by Valley National and Suburban National Banks.
Helen was preceded in death by her father Raymond Williams, paternal grand-parents Raymond and Muriel Williams, Maternal grand-parents, Andrew Gillihan and Mary Leach, also a niece Jennifer Stankus.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Betz of Montgomery, a step-son Ronald Betz of Clearwater FL, a step-daughter Teri (Doug) Swift of Clearwater , FL, her mother Linnie Williams of Boulder Hill, a brother, Lennie (Wendy) Williams of Melbourne, FL, a sister Onie (Robert) Stankus of Satellite Beach FL, two aunts, Arlene (Kenneth) Latham of Aurora, and Martha (Vernon) Osenga of Kankakee, IL, niece, Tammy (Scott) Tomter of Oswego, Nephew, Kevin (Roda) Walton of St. Charles, IL, nephew, Lennie Ray (Stacy) Williams Jr. of Lake in the Hills, IL, niece and god-daughter Stefanie Stankus of Chicago, IL, niece and god-daughter Julie (Brian) Naughton of Chicago, niece and god-daughter Kelly (Jeff) Dedrick of Satellite Beach, FL. Ethel Louise Groleske
Ethel Louise Groleske was born in Marion, Indiana on December 24, 1912 and departed this life in Stroud, Oklahoma on Friday December 22, 2000 at the age of 87 years.
Ethel was the daughter of John and Zoe (Bates) Hudson. Ethel spent most of her life in Aurora, Illinois except for the past 10 years when she moved to Stroud to be with her daughter. Ethel was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Churchin Stroud and was a Housewife. She was a Volunteer at Hines Veterans Hospital in Chicago for many years and was a member of the Mothers of WWII. Ethel married George Thomas Groleske in Harvey, Illinois on February 15, 1930. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son and two brothers.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law Edward J. and Syliva Groleske of Naples, FL. and Donald L. and Linda Groleske of Kenai, AL.; one daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Ray Buerger of Stroud, OK.; two brothers, Charles R. Hudson of Rogers, AR. and John C. Hudson of Kankakee, IL.; one daughter-in-law, Martha Groleske of Aurora, IL.; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; four great-great-Grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Mildred Hardt
Mildred Hardt, 91 of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital. She was born May 3, 1909 in Virgil, Illinois.
Mildred retired in 1981 from Lyon Metal where she was employed for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Mary Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Katherine (Heinz) and Leonard Hardt; a brother Sylvester Hardt; and 5 sisters, Helen Carroll, Margaret Mateas, Rita Davis, Mable Wolf, and Eva Artlip.

Enrique Herrera
Enrique Herrera, age 61, of Plano, IL. passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich, IL. He was born on May 31, 1939 in Durango, Mexico, son of Elias and Remedios (Corral) Herrera.
He was united in marrage in Durango, Mexico on Febuary 20, 1968 to the former Consuelo Carrera and they spent many happy years together. Enrique was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed by all.
Enrigue was employed for over 10 years, as a machine operator at Plano Molding in Plano, Illinois. He enjoyed watching boxing on TV. He also liked to play dominos with his family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Consuelo Herrera of Plano; his daughter, Consuelo Enriquez of Lombard; his son Elias (Lucy) Herrera of Plano; his four grandchildren; his caregiver, Romon Diaz of Plano; and his friends, the Alarcon family of Plano.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his son Edgar Herrera in 1982.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2000 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plano, IL. with Father Peter Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Bristol, IL.

Mrs. Loretta E. Jonatat
Mrs. Loretta E. Jonatat, age 91 of Campton Township died Tuesday evening in Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva, IL.
She was born March 10, 1909 in Chicago, IL. In 1929 she married Kurt Jonatat in Chicago, IL. They were married for over 65 years. In 1934 she and her husband opened Jonatat Jewelers in Chicago, which they operated for 43 years. In 1938 they moved to West Chicago, and six years later they moved to Campton Township. The couple continued operating the jewelry store in Chicago and also started farming in Campton Township. Loretta and her husband were the first farmers in the area to practice contour farming. They raised and owned show horses and also became land developers in the St. Charles area. The couple purchased lake front properties in Kentucky and Florida.
Loretta is survived by one daughter, Lory (Richard) DeBeir of Campton Township; two grandchildren, Elizabeth (Dr. Patrick) Berkos of Campton Township, Lynda (Dr. Michael) Clementz of St. Charles; four great-grandchildren, John and Gretchen Berkos, Katherine and Molly Clementz; and two nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kurt 1994, one grandson, John DeBeir in 1995, her parents, Michael and Christine Scherz and one sister, Irma Sitz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30th at Yurs funeral Home in St. Charles. Burial will be in Garfield Cemetery, Campton Township. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Yurs Funeral Home. Contribution may be made to the charity of your choice.

Dorothy E. Krock, 79, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2000 at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora, IL. She was born September 1, 1921 in Aurora, IL.
Survivors include a brother, Al (Audrey) Krock of Shelby Twp, MI; a cousin, Alfred (Susan) Lipke of Newark, N.Y; also several nieces and nephews.
She was procceded in death by her parents. William and Edna Krock.

John H. Messmer, Sr.
John H. Messmer, Sr., 87 of Aurora passed away Monday, December 25, 2000 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital. He was born September 19, 1913 in Aurora, IL.
John lived in Aurora all of his life. He graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School and Fox Valley High School. He was an engineer for the Burlington Railroad for 40 years and retired in 1976. On June 15, 1937 he married Elizabeth Fidler at St. Nicholas Church. He was a member of St. Mary Church. John loved gardening, reading, fixing things and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Fidler) Messmer of Aurora; a son James (Carolyn) Messmer of Yorkville; a daughter Kathryn Bramley of Aurora; 5 grandchildren Mark (Mary) Messmer of Oswego, Carrie (Frank) Martinelli of Sugar Grove, Jennifer (Byron) Fiedler of Yorkville, Meg (Osvaldo) Martinez of North Aurora, and Kate (Mark) Herbert of Aurora; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son John H. Messmer, Jr., his parents, Theresa (Schmidt) and Matthew Messmer; a sister Madeline Baum and a brother Matthew Messmer.

Margery McWilliams Michaud
Margery McWilliams Michaud, 50 of Oswego, was called home to be with her Lord on Christmas morning, 2000 at University of Illinois Chicago Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with Lymphoma. She was born on February 25, 1950 in Aurora the daughter of J. Alan and Lorraine (Rausch) McWilliams.
Margery was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Boulder Hill. She was employed as a 911 dispatcher for the Aurora Police Dept. for 25 years. She was an animal lover, especially cats. She enjoyed flea markets, antiques, cooking, being with friends and meeting new ones. Margery was an active member of the Stampin' Up Club.
Margery is survived by her parents, J. Alan and Lorraine (Rausch) McWilliams of Oswego; one brother Richard A. (Cathy) McWilliams of Big Rock; several nieces and nephews; her special Auntie Faye M. Gates of Yorkville; aunts Ann Harrell of Aurora and Ruth (Gerry) Glaser of California; special cousins Linda (Dave) Zwart, Marcia Gates and Larry Gates all of Yorkville and many other cousins.

Alan David Orr, 53, of Plano, IL, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2000 at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora. He was born September 18, 1947 in St. Charles, IL, the son of David and Miriam (Pope) Orr.
He was employed by Caterpillar in Montgomery for 26 years as a machnist. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving in Korea. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #145 in Montgomery, IL.
He is survived by two daughters, Mandi (Kevin) Wilson of Somonauk and Angela Orr of Hollywood, FL; his parents, David and Miriam Orr of Plano; four grandchildren, Blake, Brieanna, Logan and Caleb Wilson; two sisters, Linda (Ron) Turner of Millbrook and Mary (Bob) Antich of Somonauk; seven nieces and nephews, Micah Orr and Matthew Orr, both of Everett, WA, Andrea (Steve) Leppert of Sandwich, IL, Drew Turner of Houghton, MI, Jason Antich of Raleigh, NC, Jamie Antich of Sheridan, IL and Jon Antich at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Phillip Orr.

Kathryn M. Thompson, 87, of Aurora passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at Rush-Copley Medical Center. She was born January 31, 1913 in Chicago.
Survivors include her son, Philip (Karen) Thompson of Crystal Lake; her daughter, Joyce (Richard) Arnold of Germany; six grandchildren, Kristen, Susan, Michael, Heather, Eric and Ethan; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia (John) Redmond of Hometown, IL; a brother, Edward (Lucille) Kennelly of Madison, WI; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Thompson; by a son in infancy; and by her parents, Patrick and Anna (McDonald) Kennelly.

George Kevin Walls, 41 of Aurora, departed this world to join the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2000.
George was born December 22, 1959 in Aurora where he lived, married and raised his family until the time of his death. Mr. Walls enjoyed fishing and was a self-employed gutter installer.
George is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cynthia Hill Walls of Aurora; three cherished children, Danielle, Craig and Kristen Walls, all of Aurora; his father and step-mother, Earl and Peggy Hughes Sr. of Aurora; three brothers, Raymond (Wanda) Walls of Aurora, Earl (Theresa) Hughes Jr. of Hinckley and David (Pam) Hughes of Aurora; three sisters, Taffy Waltman of Florida, Pam (John) Kile and Debra Goodwin, both of Aurora; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Elsie Nell Hughes.

Opal D. Beauford
Opal D. Beauford, age 89, of Hinckley, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at the Shabbona Health Care Center in Shabbona, Illinois. Opal was born on February 6, 1911 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter Ernest and Hattie (Donahoe) Bridgewater.
Opal was united in marriage on December 24, 1928 in Earlville, Illinois to Mr. Henry "Red" Beauford and they spent many happy years together until his passing on November 5, 1987. Opal was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Opal and her husband, Red, loved to spend time at their cottage in Montello, Wisconsin where they enjoyed boating and fishing on the lake. She was employed for many years, until her retirement, as a machine operator with Ideal Industries located in Sycamore, IL.
She is survived by her son Jack (Margarette) Beauford of Virginia Beach, Virginia, her daughter Nellie (Bill) Stiles of Hinckley, Illinois, her four grandchildren, Jack (Donna) Beauford of Harvest, Alabama, Sandra Jerragon and her family of Lancaster, California, Timothy Stiles of Sandwich, Illinois, and Opal (Dan) Virtue of Hudson, Illinois; her four great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Frances Bridgewater of Genoa, Illinois; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Red; her brother, Ernest Bridgewater; and her sister, Madge Rodgers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St., Hinckley, IL. Entombment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, Illinois.
