Meriena Sweeney (Bononi)
Age 78 of Wilmington, formerly of Joliet, passed away Wednesday evening July 25, 2001 in Joliet. born May 22, 1923 in Sutersville, PA to the late Charles and Esther (Ferretti) Bononi, also preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Sweeney (1993).
Survived by two children, Sharon Hulbert of CA and Dan (Julie) Sweeney of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Jason Hulbert, Allison, Tara and Patrick Sweeney; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jacob; one brother, Charles (Mary) Bononi of CA and numerous cousins.
Retired in 1972 from APSA (Joliet Arsenal) after 25 years as an accountant.
Visitation will be Monday, July 30, 2001 from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Frank Vitus officiating at the Freitag Funeral Home Wilmington, with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. Memorials in Meriena's name to the Wilmington School Foundation for Excellence, 715 S. Joliet St., Wilmington, IL. 60481 would be appreciated.

Michael J. Chizmark
Age 86. Passed away at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center on July 25, 2002.
Survived by his devoted daughter, Kay (Ken) Larson; a grandson, Michael (Robin) Larson; a granddaughter, Francine Larson; and two great granddaughters, Katelyn and Brook Larson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Frances M. Chizmark (nee Cherven); his parents, Michael and Susan Chizmark; two brothers, Joseph and Richard Chizmark; and two sisters, Agnes Burton and Leona Hogan.
Mike founded the Chizmark-Larson Insurance Agency over 50 years ago. He was retired from the U.S. Steel Corp. after 30 years of service. Mike served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in San Diego, Calif. He was a member of the Noons Lions Club and an avid golfer.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 11:30 AM from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon. Age 76, of Lemont, July 26, 2002. born in Lemont, a lifelong resident.
Employed by Lever Brothers, Clearing, IL, for 42 years, retiring in 1986. Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. Member of the V.F.W., Lemont Post #5819 and the American Legion, Lockport Post #18.
Survived by his wife, Maxine (nee Olinger); two daughters, Christine (Jerry) Pytlewski of Lemont and Rebecca (Michael) Soukup of Homer Glen; four grandchildren, Scott and Andrea Pytlewski and Jason and Matthew Soukup; two brothers, Ralph (Nancy) Johnson and Elmer (late Dolores) Johnson, both of Lemont; and a sister, Eleanor (late Julius) Dorich of Romeoville.
Preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Mitchell; and a brother, Melvin Johnson.

Age 92 years. Late of Manhattan Twp., at her residence Friday, July 26, 2002.
Survived by her son, Kenneth (Dorita) Krapf of Wilton Twp; one granddaughter, Alexis and one grandson, Skylar.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Lulu Pfeifer Stauffenberg; her husband, Norman Krapf and one sister, Edith Barr.
Mabel Krapf was born on her Father's farm in Green Garden township, and has been a resident of the area all of her life. Until her retirement, Mabel Krapf taught in the Peotone School District and led the Green Garden Snip 'n Snack 4-H Club, which she founded. She has served the community in many capacities through her church, Green Garden United Methodist, the Manhattan Library Board and the Will County Home Extension.
Mabel Krapf will lie in state Monday, 10:30 AM, July 29, 2002 at the Green Garden United Methodist Church until time of services at 11:00 AM. Rev. Penny Hoffman officiating. Interment, at Green Garden Greenview Cemetery. Memorials to the Green Garden United Methodist Church and Manhattan Library would be most appreciated. Harold G. (Hal) Lange
Age 73, passed away July 19, 2002 at Western Hills Nursing Center, Denver, CO. born in Joliet, IL. Living in Denver for 25 years. He was a Korean War Veteran.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence (1972) and Stella (1993) Lange, one brother Robert in infancy and a niece, Lynne Collins (2001).
Survived by three sisters, Lorraine Lange, Joliet, Bernadine (Richard) Becker, Minooka and Maryann (Robert) Wright, Lawrenceville, IL. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Internment was July 24, 2002 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
Earnest W. Miller
Age 71, born August 17, 1930 in Halls, Tennessee, passed away peacefully July 6, 2002 at the A. Webb Roberts Hospital at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
A former resident of Joliet for 23 years, his employment was transferred to the Dallas area, where he lived for the last 23 years. He was a resident of Dickinson Place in Dallas for the past 5 years.
He was the loving father of two daughters, Linda (David) Lovell and Stephanie Nichols; three sons, Bill Duckmanton, Michael Duckmanton and Gene Duckmanton; he had 16 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by his sister, Lois (Vernon) Reece in Halls, Tennessee.
Preceded in death by his wife, Ethelda (Pelton) Miller; his mother, Sadie Lee Miller; and his father, Steven Paul Miller.
Earnest was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.
Earnest requested that his body be donated to science at Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Ethelda at Edith Cemetery in Tennessee. Age 88. Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.
Survived by his children, Jeanette (Jerome) Jostak of Joliet, Judy (Ronald) Sanders of Pierson, Wis, and James (Janet) Nelson of Wilmington. Ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Dear friend Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his wife, Elsie (Maciokas) Nelson; parents, Hans and Anna (Dolan) Nelson; infant son, John Nelson; two sisters, Mabel Liss and Adeline Winkleman; and a brother, Howard Nelson.
Born in Chicago, a Rockdale resident most of his life. Retired from Brookshire Foods. Member of Judson Memorial Baptist Church and the Senior Bowling League. Ray was very active and on the go until this last week. He loved the outdoors and fishing.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 10 AM at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday 4-7 PM and Tuesday morning from 9-10 AM in the funeral home.

Sammie Lee Stepney, Jr.
Age 43, born August 14, 1958 in Joliet, IL. Departed this life suddenly on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Silver Cross Hospital. Employed by Grant's Appliances of Joliet, IL. Sammie attended St. Joseph Grade School in Lockport, IL, also attended Lockport Central High School. Served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1979.
Preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents; one uncle and one nephew.
Survived by his beloved wife, Claudette; father and mother, Sammie (Minnie) Stepney, Sr. and Geraldine Stepney of Joliet; one son, Fabian Stepney and one daughter, Latoya Stepney of Grandview, MS; five sisters, Augusta Chandler, Yvonne Stepney, Renee (Vic) Harris, Tiffnay (Robert) Harris and Vicki Ellison; one granddaughter, Cornae Jordan. Sammie was also a father to Courtney, Robert and Justin. Jordan, a special niece, Andrea Chandler, sixteen nieces, seventeen nephews, all of Joliet, IL. Sammie will be missed by many.

Age 89, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at her residence. born in Louin, Mississippi, she has resided in Joliet since 1940. Formerly employed at Uniroyal Corp. A devoted member of St. Mark CME Church for many years.
Preceded in death by one son, four brothers, six sisters and one great-granddaughter.
She is survived by six sons, Louis Thompson, Billy Boy Thompson, William A. Thompson, Leonard (Rosetta) Thompson, Roger (Felicia) Thompson, all of Joliet and Greg (Lisa) Thompson of Louisville, Kentucky; three daughters, Maxine Boykin, Bonnie (A.C.) Smith and Helen (Elbert Jr.) Washington, all of Joliet. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
