Ronald L. Farris, 60, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at his home. He was born May 29, 1945, in DeKalb, to Walter and Kathryn (Zeien) Farris. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock and a member of the Woodstock Moose. He was an original member of the Woodstock Rescue Squad and served for more than 30 years. He was a computer programmer. An avid NASCAR fan, he served as an official at the Rockford Speedway for more than 30 years. Survivors include a daughter, Adrienne (Floyd) Gardner, Caledonia; a brother, Dr. Bruce (Jodi) Farris, Woodstock; a sister, Bonnie (Robert) Giles, Woodstock; a sister-in-law, Bridget Farris, Woodstock; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, in 1984; his mother, in 2002; a brother, Bryce, in 1996; a daughter, Tracy Farris; and a nephew, William Giles. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. A wake service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection Thursday, Dec. 29, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Monsignor James W. McLoughlin officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.

Greta M. (Meyers) Lichtenheld, 76, of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream and formerly of Lombard and Geneva, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Windsor Park Manor. Survivors include a daughter, Margie (John) Leitch; two sons, Dave (Cindy) and Gary (Mo); five grandchildren, Jenny, Stephen, Paul, Brad and Michael; a great-grandson, Jacob; a brother, Walt (Jo) Meyers; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and a son, Steven. A memorial service was held Monday at Windsor Park Manor. Interment was private. Joseph S. Zajac, 92, Wonder Lake, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Alden Terrace Healthcare Center, McHenry. He was born March 5, 1913, in Chicago, to Simon and Agata (Kaminski) Zajac. He married Caroline June 25, 1938. Previously of Chicago, he moved to Wonder Lake in 1964. He was a retired custodian of several apartment buildings in Chicago. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Zajac, Bartlett, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Joseph Zajac; his parents; and a sister, Martha Klouw. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Wonder Lake. Evelyn A. Parquette, 90, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at Centegra Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock. She was born June 28, 1915, in Chicago, to James and Rose (Duda) Sabatka. She married Melvin Parquette Aug. 15, 1936, in Chicago. He died Jan. 15, 1986. Survivors include two sons, Ron (Nancy) and Mike (Marlene); a daughter, Patti (Dan) Ryan; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held Jan. 3 at St. Patrick's Cemetery, McHenry.Memorials can be made to Valley Hi Nursing Home or a charity of the donor's choice. Tory Marie Baker, 38, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005. She was born May 19, 1967, and lived in Martin, S.D. She worked for Prevost Parts/Nova Bus for 17 years. Her first job there was sweeping floors. She ultimately held three managerial positions: warehouse manager, parts inventory and database manager. Survivors include her father, Richard Baker; three sisters, Ronni Kriz-Dobbins, Toni Phillips and Maneen Baker; three brothers, Guy (Pep) Kriz, Thad (Cally) Baker and Falle Baker; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Melva Marshall; and her stepmother, Cindy Baker. Visitation and the memorial service were held Dec. 26 at Colonial Funeral Home, McHenry. 1/24/2006 Keith Reginald Robert Nurse
Keith Reginald Robert Nurse, 83, Woodstock, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Woodstock Residence Nursing Home. He was born June 17, 1922, to Reginald and Florence (Bardwell) Nurse. He married Dorothy Jane Wilson Aug. 11, 1948, in Miami. He was born and raised in Norwich, England, and attended Commercial Travelers Boarding School in London. While attending school, he worked as a lifeguard and was awarded the Royal Lifesaving Medal for saving a young boy's life. After finishing school he served as a radio operator in the Royal Air Force during World War II, stationed in India and the Cocos Islands for four years. His family moved to the United States after the war where he met his wife in Milwaukee. He worked several years crossing the country on gas conversion and surveying the new interstate highways. He and his family eventually settled in Pistakee Highlands and later in Woodstock. He worked most of his life as a salesman. After retirement he utilized his love of children and worked as a Woodstock School District 200 bus driver and is often best remembered as "UK." While driving for school trips, he took an interest in what the children were doing and saw many of their plays, concerts and games. He loved sailing, canoeing, gardening and music, especially Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. He also enjoyed learning to play folk instruments; his harmonica was very comforting to him during his illness. Survivors include his wife, Woodstock; three daughters, Susan (James) Keith-Kiberd, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., Sally (John) Sullivan, Streator, and Carol (Mike) Nurse-Grembowski, Woodstock; a son, Ronald Nurse, Fountain Inn, S.C.; and five grandchildren, Nigel, Mallory and Tessa Grembowski, Kathryn Nurse and Savanna Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Greenlund. His body has been donated to Anatomy Gift Foundation, Maryland, for research into Alzheimer's and dementia. Afterwards, his ashes will be scattered back in the Broads in Norfolk, England. There was a memorial service Nov. 11 at the First United Methodist Church, Woodstock. Rose V. Williams, 92, Woodstock, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at her home. She was born Feb. 2, 1913, in Chicago, to Peter and Mary (Margiotta) Ricci. She married Henry J. Williams Jan. 17, 1945, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Chicago. She worked for Jewel Paint and Varnish Company in Chicago and also the Hephzibah Children's Association in Oak Park. She was an avid reader and also a good listener. She was full of remarkable intelligence, wit, humor, compassion, courage and maternal instinct. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. She was a dedicated friend to many through her prayers, love and correspondence. She will be remembered for bestowing upon her children the gift of music, her love of nature and the $2 bills she included in her cards and letters. She volunteered numerous hours of work on behalf of Resurrection Retreat and Conference Center, Woodstock. Survivors include her children, Martha (John Spurgeon) Williams, Rochelle, Henry (Jeanne), Oak Park, Mary (Jim) Ivers, Woodstock, and Davida Williams, Oak Park; her grandchildren, Barbara Krause, Berwyn, Mary (Mike) Tsao, San Mateo, Calif., Rachel and Benjamin Phillips, Ojo Sarco, N.M., James (Richa Sharma) Williams, Oak Park, Michael Williams. Oak Park, and Kevin, Jim, Megan and Peter Ivers, Woodstock; seven great-grandchildren, Trevor, Jessica and Henry Krause, Louise Browne, Julianna Ford, and Emily and Thomas Tsao; three sisters, Annette (Anthony) Palucci, River Forest, Patricia (Thomas) Doyle, Oak Brook, and Barbara (John) Blair, Chicago; a son-in-law, David Phillips, Ojo Sarco, N.M.; and many loving nieces and nephews around the world. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Paula; three brothers, Paul, Frank and Peter; and three sisters, Marie, Frances and Josephine. Visitation, followed by the funeral Mass, was held Jan. 11 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Woodstock. Interment was private. 1/24/2006 Lloyd A. 'Adrian' Watts
Lloyd A. "Adrian" Watts, 43, Wonder Lake, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, in his wife's arms, surrounded by family at his home following an extended illness. He was born on Aug. 4, 1962, in Wakefield, Mich., to Roy and Rita (Tomei) Watts. He married Denise Siragusa Dec. 23, 1988, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He and his wife were owners of Truth Roofing and General Contracting and Exteriors by LAW. He was a popular local performer having begun his career on the stage in junior high school playing the role of Yonkers in "Davy Crockett." He played a number of roles while attending Zion-Benton High School, including Charles Condomine in "Blithe Spirit‚" for which he received the 1980 ZBHS Best Actor Award. He graduated in 1981. At the Opera House in Woodstock, he created such roles at Harry Beaton in "Brigadoon‚" Don in "A Chorus Line" and the King in "The King and I‚" for which he received the prestigious TownSquare Players' Soul Award and was nominated for a Chicago area award for his outstanding performance. He also appeared in productions of "Carousel‚" "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" and "Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up" at the Opera House, the Raue Center and for Pullman Players of Wauconda. The Woodstock Musical Theatre Company awarded him its coveted Heart Award in 2003 for his work in "Fiddler on the Roof." Audiences will also remember him from the popular revues Paradise People and Dille's Follies. A protégé of his uncle, professional magician Nick Tomei, he was sought after for his close-up magic. He appeared locally as a stand-up comic. He and his wife, who often performed with him, won a trip to Las Vegas as winners of an areawide lip synch contest. Not limiting his talents to being on stage, he designed the set for the recent Opera House production of "Man of La Mancha" and was active in choreography. He was a formidable competitor in chess, darts and many other games of skill. Through the Internet, he played opponents and made friends throughout the world. He will be remembered for his many talents, his joy for life, his wit and energy, but above all, for his love and concern for all he met. Survivors include his wife; four stepchildren, Dawn (Dave) Borg, Cary, Philip (Carmen) Siragusa, DeKalb, Tony (Jenny) Siragusa, Cary, and Nik (Jackie) Siragusa, Cary; six grandchildren, Olivia, Kayla, Abby, Payton, Christopher and Joseph; his brother, Lyle (Jeannine) Watts; nieces, Erin and Valerie Watts; his stepfather, Ronald Walkky, Wakefield, Mich.; his aunt, Louise Engle, Waukegan; his sister-in-law, Deidre Eddy, Belvidere; nephews, Craig (Gayle-Anne) Eddy, Scarborough, Maine, and Keith Eddy, Sacramento, Calif.; other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; his grandmother, Signe Thiel; and his uncle, Nick Tomei. As he wished, his body has been donated to Life Legacy to help others and for research. A celebration of his life will take place from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Woodstock Opera House. Gerda Dorothea Jessen, 67, a longtime resident of Woodstock, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006. She was born in Hoxstrup, Germany. She met her husband, Carl H. Jessen, in Germany and immigrated to America in 1957, shortly after their wedding. There, she and her husband owned and operated the Early American Bakery in Woodstock for approximately 17 years. In addition, she worked in Woodstock School District 200 food service for both Olson Middle School and Woodstock High School for 20 years. She lived an active life. Her favorite pastimes included cooking, camping, square dancing and being with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed the past five winters meeting new friends in her Mesa, Ariz., retirement community. Survivors include her husband; four children, Anke (Frank) Dougherty, Maren Laipple, Carl M. (Therese) Jessen and Heidi (Mike) Phipps; 10 grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; and her son-in-law, Allan Laipple. Visitation was Feb. 8 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Woodstock. The funeral was held Feb. 9 at the church, where she was a longtime member. Memorials can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church. Martha M. Vanthournout, 94, St. Charles, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at her home. She was born Jan. 1, 1912, in St. Charles, to Emil and Sidonie Collins. From 1933 to 1953, she and her late husband, Maurice, farmed in the St. Charles, Huntley and Dundee areas. After her husband's death in 1953, she became a clerk at Borman Hardware Co. until it closed in 1972. She then was a clerk at Hines Lumber Co. in St. Charles from 1972 until 1978 when she retired. She was a member of St. Patrick Church for more than 75 years. Survivors include three children, Geraldine Moeller, St. Charles, Stanley, St. Charles, and Suzanne (Vito) Barone, South Elgin; a brother, Robert (Ruth) Collins, Hampshire; two sisters, Kathryn Knott, St. Charles, and Lorraine (Kahl) Kinney, Sugar Grove; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Frank Collins, Charles Collins, Henry Collins and Albert Collins; and a sister, Irene Regole. Visitation was Feb. 5 at Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles. The funeral Mass was held Feb. 6 at St. Patrick Church. Lawrence Raymond Brown, 96, Woodstock, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Centegra Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock. He was born June 24, 1909, in Woodstock, to Smith and Nancy (Webster) Brown. He married Marian E. Collen Oct. 20, 1934, in Woodstock. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodstock, where he served as trustee. He also was a life member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. He farmed for many years, then moved into Woodstock, where he worked at the Auto Lite plant. When Northwood Elementary School was built, he was the first custodian at the school. He also drove a school bus for 24 years and was affectionately known as "Brownie." He enjoyed his flower gardens and keeping his lawn attractive. He lived in Woodstock all his life and enjoyed the winters in Florida after he retired. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Wayne L. (Kris) Brown, Woodstock, Lynn R. (Sandy) Brown, Woodstock, and Dale K. (Theresa) Brown, Woodstock and Arizona; a daughter, Shirley R. (Robert) Gniech, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ralph, Lee, Donnell and Sherman; five sisters, Helen, Allie, Lucy, Hettie and Nell; an infant grandson; and an infant great-granddaughter. The visitation was Feb. 5 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. The funeral was Feb. 6 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Interment was in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodstock. Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Woodstock or the charity of the donor's choice.

2/7/2006 Aileen Marie 'Sam' Ledanski
Aileen Marie "Sam" Ledanski, 57, Woodstock, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at her home. She was born March 3, 1948, in Greensboro, N.C., to Boyce and Ruby (McIntyre) Shepherd. She married Nicholas L. Ledanski Sept. 12, 1987, in Burlington. She always loved art. When she was very young, she would try to duplicate a drawing made by her mother of a woman's face. She attended college with a major in fine arts and subsequently received a degree in fashion design/merchandising. After working for many years in commercial design, space planning and facilities management, she put her drafting skills to use and opened her own business, Inside Out Designs, offering pen and ink drawings of homes. Her work gradually evolved into drawings of historic buildings. She also created notecards, prints and calendars featuring drawings of local area buildings. She had become known to residents of Woodstock as an architectural pen and ink artist who drew most of the historical buildings in Woodstock and made stationary that was sold throughout Woodstock. Most recently, she became even more well known for drawing a 2006 Woodstock Calendar featuring 12 of Woodstock's historical buildings such as the Opera House, the Old Court House on the Square and more. She just completed an anniversary drawing of Woodstock City Hall which the city of Woodstock requested, and later this year, the city will be using her drawing for a new banner. Most recently, she just finished designing a groundhog logo for sweatshirts and T-shirts featuring several Woodstock landmarks and a groundhog picture. Survivors include her husband, Woodstock; her mother, Whittsitt, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Thompson, Greenville, N.C., and Cicilia Stallings, Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Edward Shepherd, Burlington, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother-in-law, William Thompson. Visitation was Feb. 3 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. The funeral service was held Feb. 4 at First United Methodist Church, Woodstock, with the Rev. Jim Young officiating. Interment was private. Memorials can be made to Helping Paws.

George A. Carter Sr., 81, Woodstock, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Idaho, to Andrew P. and Catherine E. (Littlejohn) Farnsworth. He served in both the Army and the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Crystal Valley Community Church. Survivors include four children, Terri Carter, Wauconda, George (Sonia) Carter, Cary, Mark (Rhonda) Carter, Woodstock, and Michael Carter, Algonquin; nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Patricia, Mathius, Trevor, Kelsey, Hannah, Zachary, Christopher and Jeffrey; two great-grandchildren, Vivian and Nolan; and a brother, Bruce. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Beatrice (Coppoletta) Carter. A memorial service was held Feb. 4 at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary. Interment followed. Geneva M. Menge, 91, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Centegra Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock. She was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Eddyville, Ky., to Bert and Carrie (Oliver) Gray. She married Marvin A. Menge Feb. 3, 1973, in Woodstock. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. She had worked for Woodstock Die Cast Company from 1947 until her retirement in 1974. She was a past member of the Woodstock Moose and she enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and playing bingo. Survivors include a son, Jeff Weeks; a sister, Helen Book; five stepchildren, Jim (Carol) Menge, Larry Menge, Leroy Menge, Dan (Anniette) Menge and Sue (Tim) Leahman; 10 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1975; seven brothers and sisters, Elwood, Owen, Earl and Hylan Gray, Lillian Gray, Allie Jones and Velma Reynolds; and a stepson, Steven Menge. Visitation, followed by the funeral, was Feb. 3 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock, with the Rev. Randy Willers officiating. Interment was in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodstock.

Eileen V. Gourley, 82, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Kouts, Ind., to James and Mary (Hannon) Kelly. She married Edward J. Gourley April 3, 1948, in LaPorte, Ind. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hartland. She was a nurse in the U.S. Army, serving from 1945 to 1946 and she was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. She also worked as a registered nurse at Holy Family Hospital in LaPorte. She spent many years working with her husband on their farm in Hartland. Survivors include three sons, Patrick Gourley, Denver, Brian Gourley, Woodstock, and Phillip Gourley, Harvard; a daughter, Kathleen (Richard) Huege, Woodstock; four grandchildren, Maureen (Michael) Parlberg, Katherine (Lee) Sunberg, Sara Gourley and Erin Gourley; six great-grandchildren, David, Trevor, Trace and Jacob Parlberg and Nicholas and Madelyn Sunberg; and two brothers, Joseph Kelly and Mathew (Joanne) Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aug. 16, 1980; a daughter, Mary, in 1984; an infant son, Terence, in 1955; a brother, John Kelly; and two sisters, Mary Christenson and Alice Gourley. Visitation was Feb. 3 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. Mass of the Resurrection was held Feb. 4 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hartland, with Monsignor James McLoughlin officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Hartland. Dorothea Kay-Glenn Brown, 50, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, in Crescent City, Calif. She was born Jan. 6, 1956, in Woodstock. She was a Del Norte County resident for the past few months. She loved all kinds of animals. Survivors include her husband, David Brown, Crescent City, Calif.; a son, Braley Brown, Blythe, Calif.; her mother, Joyce Avery, West Frankfort; two sisters, Doris Schiller, Woodstock, and Lori Tilstra, Cote de Caza, Calif; and a brother, Doug Glenn, Woodstock. Robert J. Kruczek, 67, Wonder Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at his home. He was born March 24, 1938, in Chicago, to Joseph and Irene (Puralewski) Kruczek. He married Lucille Nuti July 26, 1958. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and a friend of Bill W. He enjoyed boating, fishing and woodworking. Survivors include his wife; four children, Bambi (Patrick) Johnston, Grayslake, Jamey (Lisa) Kruczek, Wonder Lake, Robby (Kelly) Kruczek, Algonquin, and Todd (Kristine) Kruczek, Wonder Lake; his mother; 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Nicholas, Justin, Nicolette, Kailey, Samantha, Ashley, Milena, Jessica and Gianni; and his brother, James (Lindalee) Kruczek, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation was Jan. 10 at Colonial Funeral Home, McHenry. The funeral Mass was held Jan. 11 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment was private.

Joann Bruce, 61, Wonder Lake, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at her home. She was born June 28, 1944, in Chicago, to John and Helen (Giles) Kline. She married Larry Bruce July 14, 1962, in Wonder Lake. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and going to the cabin. Survivors include her husband; four children, Daphne (Jim) Kohnke, Milwaukee, and Sheila (Sean) Walden, Tracy Bruce and Eric Bruce, all of Wonder Lake; seven grandchildren, Joey Zuidema and Autumn Zuidema, Wonder Lake, Megan Kohnke, Nicole Kohnke and Jaime Kohnke, Milwaukee, and Anastasia Bruce and Phineaus Bruce, Genoa City, Wis.; and a sister, Joyce (Arnie) Haapoja, Twin Lakes, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation was Jan. 12 at Colonial Funeral Home, McHenry. The funeral service was held Jan. 13 at the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Olson officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Assistance in Health Care Foundation, an affiliate of Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

1/24/2006 Angela 'Angie' Meilicke
Angela "Angie" Meilicke, 47, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at her home. She was born Dec. 18, 1958, in Olangapo City, Philippines, to Solomon and Dolores (Sahagun) Constantino. She married Charles "Chuck" Meilicke Sept. 21, 2001. The past five years she had been a resident of Wonder Lake, and before that, she lived in Lakemoor for eight years. She was a certified nursing assistant and had been employed at Fair Oaks Nursing Home, Valley Hi Nursing Home and Centegra Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock. She loved life and being with family. She loved parties, socializing and spending time with her daughter and granddaughter. She'll be remembered for always laughing at her husband's jokes and loving and missing her family in the Philippines and abroad. She enjoyed motorcycling and playing the slot machines and mah-jongg. Survivors include her husband, Wonder Lake; her daughter, Jennifer (Eric) Rico, Carpentersville; her granddaughter, Jasmine Rico; her mother, Philippines; two brothers, Fernando Constantino, Olangapo City, and Amulso (Melissa) Gloria, Dubai, Saudi Arabia; her very special aunt who raised her, Norma; her mother-in-law, Carole "Mom" Meilicke, Minong, Wis.; and her father-in-law, Ronald Meilicke, Hayward, Wis. She was preceded in death by her father. Visitation was Jan. 13 at The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry, followed by celebration of the funeral Mass. Inurnment was private. Arrangements were made by Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home.

1/24/2006 Cassandra 'Cassie' Dimopoulos
Cassandra "Cassie" Dimopoulos, 17, Wonder Lake, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at her home. She was born June 26, 1988, in McHenry, to Odess and Kim (Olsen) Dimopoulos. A lifelong resident of the McHenry and Wonder Lake area, she was a senior at McHenry High School, West Campus. She loved to sing and participated in the McHenry Idol contest, placing in the top 10. Writing was another favorite activity, and she especially enjoyed writing poetry. She was recognized with an award by the International Library of Poetry in January for a poem she submitted. Her poetry was also published in the Northwest Herald Poetry Corner several times. Other enjoyments included dancing, roller skating, cooking, reading and bowling. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. Survivors include her mother, Kim Olsen Dimopoulos "Karaoke Kim," Wonder Lake; her mother's fiancé, Gary Bryan, Cary; her father, Ody (Cindi) Dimopoulos, McHenry; three brothers, Steve Kontomichalos, Johnsburg, Christos Kontomichalos Jr., McHenry, and Gust Dimopoulos, McHenry; her maternal grandparents, Jerry and Fran Olsen, Bella Vista, Ark.; her aunt, Rebecca Thompson, Crystal Lake; and aunts and uncles, John and Norma Dimopoulos, McHenry, Erik and Patti Olsen, Wisconsin, Bruce and Karolin Otto, Spring Grove, and Ernie and Gayle Olsen, Tokyo, Japan. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gust and Angeline Dimopoulos, and an uncle, James Dimopoulos. Visitation was Jan. 12 at George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, McHenry. The funeral service was held Jan. 13 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, with the Rev. Robert Balog officiating. Interment was in Woodland Cemetery, McHenry. Memorials can be made to the McHenry County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Division, 2200 Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098; or to the McHenry Area Youth Commission, 3703 Richmond Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
