James W. ‘Bill' Woodard
FAIRMOUNT — James W. "Bill" Woodard, 78, longtime Fairmount resident and former two-term mayor, passed away at 1:43 a.m. Sunday (Aug.1, 2004) at Provena USMC, Logan campus in Danville.
Bill was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Oakwood, the son of James L. and Bertha G. Farnum Woodard.
He married Juanita Cheuvront, Jan. 29, 1949, in Catlin.
She survives.
Other survivors are: two daughters, Melita (Roy) Irwin of St. Joseph and Teresa (Robert) Huffman of Sidell; one sister, Patricia (Steve) Bianchetta of Georgetown; one brother, Richard (Sadie) Woodard of Danville, and three grandchildren, Bobbie S. Huffman, Jaimee L. Huffman and Kelsey R. Huffman.
Bill went to work for Hegler's Zinc Co. at age 17, and later joined General Motors, where he retired from in 1985.
He assisted in the formation of the Fairmount Fire Department.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge since 1940, Canton Unit of Mt. Zion, Rebekkah Lodge of Fisher, and past member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, under General George Patton.
He was also active in the U.S. Army Reserve, a member of the former Fairmount American Legion, Vermilion County Civil Defense.
Bill was a former scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts in Fairmount, for many years.

Burial: Mt. Vernon Cemetery, west of Catlin;
Visitation: 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home;

Thelma O. Williams
FITHIAN — Thelma O. Williams, 94, of Fithian, died at 1:27 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 1, 2004) at the Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4 at Kirby Funeral Home, 112 Main St. in Fithian;
Officiating: Rev. Allen Miller;
There will be a private burial at West Lawn Cemetery in Farmersburg, Ind.;
Visitation: 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 21, 1910, in Farmersburg, Ind., a daughter of Floyd W. and Maude M. Herr Phillips.
She married Edward J. Williams on Aug. 3, 1931, in Harrisburg, Ill.
He passed away on June 2, 1992.
Survivors include: a daughter, Sara A. Laker of Loda; two grandsons, David E. Laker of Fithian and Samuel K. Laker of Romney, Ind.; a granddaughter, Laura A. Laker of Philo; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Mrs. Williams hobbies included watching NASCAR racing on television, Red Mask plays, and gardening.
Memorials may be made to Fithian United Methodist Church, Red Mask Theatre in Danville, or Carle Hospice.
Imogene (Murphy) Bullock
On July 23, 2004, our precious mother and grandmother, Imogene (Murphy) Bullock, passed away at her home in Mesa, Ariz.
Imy was born on Jan. 18, 1926, to George and Julia Murphy, the fourth of six children, in the farming community of Ridge Farm, Ill. In 1953, her husband, Curt, and she began what became the largest pre-built garage business in the world, Bullock Garages.
They also built modular homes and cabins in Mesa.
She loved the Lord Jesus Christand was, for years, a member of Church of the Redeemer and, in recent years, Word of Grace, both in Mesa.
She is survived by daughters, Joanne (Rod) Hendrix of Mesa, and Sherry (Lonnie) Slider of Covington, Ind.; sons, Randy (Mindy) Bullock of Danville, Ill., and Donald (Cheryl) Bullock and David (Ellyn) Bullock, all of Champaign, Ill.; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Karen Beshears and Louise Kincaid; brothers, George and Lowell Murphy; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She loved her family.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1763 N. Gilbert Rd., Mesa;
Viewing: 2-3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

John Frank Oldani, Sr.
John Frank Oldani, Sr., 90, of Danville, passed this life at 1:10 a.m. Sunday (July 25, 2004) at his residence with his family at his side.

He was born Dec. 10, 1915, in Westville, the son of Frank and Marie Bollatti Oldani.
He married Eloise Murphy on Oct. 14, 1939, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville.
She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, John, Jr. (Glenda) of Urbana, Richard (Rita) of Veedersburg, Ind., and Joseph (Fran) of Westville; two daughters, Mary (Mike) Longfellow of Danville and Joan (Gary) Varner of Perrysville, Ind.
He has 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a niece, Natalie Bayci of Joliet; nephews, Father Philip Tinko of Lisle, Larry Tinko of Brownsburg, Ind., James Blagg in Florida, and Robert Blagg in Indiana.
His parents and three sisters, Ann Foxworthy, Madeline Tinko, and Josephine Blagg, preceded him in death.
John retired as a pressman from Kowa Printing Company in Champaign.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He was a 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed his gardens and fishing.
Robert Michael ‘Mike' Carr
Robert Michael "Mike" Carr, 72, of Danville, passed away at 6:02 p.m. Saturday (July 24, 2004) at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
Mike was born Oct. 3, 1931, in Hume, the son of the late Thomas and Ruth (Twigg) Carr.
Mike married Sue Hopkins on Nov. 17, 1956, in Hume.
She survives of Danville.
Other survivors include: a son, Christopher Carr and a daughter, Liz (Bobby) Ruffino, both of Danville; a brother, Pat (Martha) Carr of Villa Grove; a sister, Julia (Bill) Bounds of Danville; a grandson, Mark Pesek of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike graduated from Young America High School in Metcalf.
After graduation he worked as an operating engineer of heavy equipment in construction in Decatur, as a member of the Local #841 out of Terre Haute.
Mike later worked as a business representative for the Local Teamsters #26.
Mike also served as vice-president and trustee and board officer for Local #26 retiring in November of 1994.
Mike was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the K of C, the Rosary Group at St. Paul's, and the Teamsters Local #26 Retirees Club.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, yard work, and sending e-mails on his computer.
Mike was a people person, he loved to talk and he never met a stranger.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 28 at St. Paul's Catholic Church;
Father Jeffery Lawrence will be the Celebrant;
Entombment: Sunset Memorial Park;
Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27 Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with a rosary to be held at 4 pm.;

Augustine Wilkis
WESTVILLE — Augustine Wilkis, 93, of Westville, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Saturday (June 5, 2004) at Christian Hospital North East in Bellefontaine, Mo.
Augustine was born Dec. 19, 1910, in Westville, the daughter of the late Albert and Antoinette (Strain) Alm.
Augustine married John P. Wilkis, June 17, 1930, in Newport, Ind., and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, Alan (Louise) Wilkis of Florissant, Mo., one sister, Alma Sossich of Bensalem, Pa., four grandchildren and six great-grandsons.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded Augustine in death.
Augustine attended Westville schools.
During World War II, she worked at Hicks Laundry for Chanute Air Force Base and worked as a presser for Rissman and Windbreaker in Danville.
Augustine was a member of AARP #1256 and Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America.
Augustine enjoyed flowers, quilting, knitting, crocheting and homemaking.
Augustine did volunteer work (sewing) at Trinity Church in Westville.
A celebration of Augustine's life will be 11 a.m. Thursday June 10, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville; Officiating: Rev. Andy Spencer;
Burial: Sunset Memorial Park;
Visitation: one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Eva M. Reed
Eva M. Reed, 89, of Danville, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday (June 6, 2004) at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville.
She was born April 12, 1915, in Danville, the daughter of James and Eva Bennett McGary.
Eva married Charles P. Reed, Nov. 24, 1951, in Danville, and he preceded her in death March 23, 1986.
She is survived by a cousin, Katherine Kaiser of Sumner, Wash.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Eva retired in 1980 from General Motors Central Foundry Division, where she worked as an executive secretary.
She was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at the Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal, 308 N. Vermilion;

Betty L. Lamar
Betty L. Lamar, 68, of Danville, died at 11 p.m. Saturday (June 5, 2004) at Provena USMC, Logan campus.
Betty was born April 30, 1936, in Westville, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Hamilton Orlea.
She married Jack Lamar June 26, 1954, in Westville.
He survives.
Betty is survived by two children, Scott (Connie) Lamar and Cynthia Johnson, both of Danville; a special son, Kevin Hartman in Indiana; one sister, Rosemarie (Don) Lang of Trego, Wis.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She was a graduate of Westville High School, Class of 1954.
Betty was what her family affectionately called her, a "Super Shopper".
She was a very special Mom who loved her family very much.
Even through her illnesses, she was always there for them.

Mrs. Hillary was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Homer, a daughter of Clifford and Della Taylor McDaniel.
She married Raymond Hillary on May 29, 1941, in Dresden, Tenn.
He survives.
Also surviving are: three sons, Richard (Mattie) Hillary of Alta Loma, Calif., Danny (Linda) Hillary of Catlin, and Gary (Debra) Hillary of Sidell; one daughter, Sharon (Albert) Riggle of Sidell; four brothers, Donald (Patti) McDaniel of Olivet, Kenneth McDaniel of Phoenix, Ariz., Wayne (Joan) McDaniel of Sidney, and Keith (Jane) McDaniel of Sidell; four sisters, Betty (Hank) Jackowski of Daytona, Fla., Esther Lahne of Sidell, Ruth Callahan of Sidell, and Shirley (Ralph) McCown of Clearwater, Fla.; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Mrs. Hillary was a member of the Sidell American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved horses, riding horses, square dancing and being with her family.
