Edna V. Wilson
Edna V. (Wagner) Wilson, 78, of Danville, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Thursday (April 1, 2004), at Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
She was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Alton, Ill., the daughter of William H. Wagner and Eva L. (Ruyle) Wagner.
She married Harry R. Wilson on Nov. 4, 1948, in Alton.
He preceded her in death in March of 2003.
Survivors include: two sons, Stephen (JoAnn) Wilson of Springfield, Ill., and Paul (Aline) Wilson of Port Ritchey, Fla.; one daughter, Katherine Shake of Danville; two brothers, Glenn (Lucille) Wagner and Leslie (Irmy) Wagner, both of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Ellen Wagner of St. Louis, Mo.; and six grandchildren, Miranda Shake and Megan (Eric) Shelato, both of Danville, Michael Wilson of Port Richey, Fla., Douglas, Caroline, and Jessica Wilson, all of Springfield, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, William (Hank) Wagner, Jr., Harold Wagner and Wesley Wagner, all of Alton, IL.
Edna worked in retail management for J.C. Penny's Department store, as well as Daniel Furniture Store of Danville, for many years before retiring.
Mrs. Wilson was a devoted wife and mother who loved antiques, her flower garden and reading poetry.
She and her husband Harry were actively involved with the Old Towne Preservation Association and in 1993, received a legacy award for the restoration of their prairie-style house.
They both also belonged to the Vermilion Heritage Foundation, lending volunteer assistance to the preservation of the Fischer Theater of Danville.
A celebration of life service for Mrs. Edna V. Wilson will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center;

Burial: Spring Hill Cemetery;
Visitation: 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 4, at the funeral home;

Sara F. Wright
Sara F. Wright, 47, of Danville, formerly of Georgetown, passed away at 2:14 p.m. Wednesday (March 31, 2004) at Provena USMC, Logan campus.
She was born Dec. 20, 1956, in Danville, the daughter of Kenneth Lester and Lorema Edith Simpson Vice.
She married David Wright, Sr. in 1975.
He preceded her in death in 1977.
She later married Mark Wright in 1979.
He survives.
Other survivors include: her mother, Lorema Vice of Indianapolis, formerly of Georgetown; two sons, David (Tabitha) Wright, Jr. of Urbana, and Joshua Wright of Danville; one daughter, Stephanie Wright of Danville; two brothers, Lawrence (Stephanie) Sutton of San Diego, Calif., and Kenneth Vice of Indianapolis; six sisters, Virginia (Max) Barker of Olivet, Cathern Pataki of Fithian, Barbara (Robert) Ellett of Potomac, Jane (Robert) Geisert of Deltona, Fla., Joan Rockwell of Danville and Lana (Curt) Miller of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Ian, Cassidy, and Kaitlyn; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Sara was also looking forward to the birth of her new grandchild.
Her father, one brother and one sister preceded Sara in death.
Sara enjoyed needlepoint with plastic canvas, camping, traveling, collecting mice figurines, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A celebration of the life of Sara F. Wright will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown;

Robert DeVere Beach
Funeral services for Robert DeVere Beach, 78, of Eversholt Street in Clermont, Fla., formerly of Danville, who died March 29, 2004 at his home were held 3 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, Fla.;
Burial followed at Deltona Memorial Gardens.
Robert was born July 11, 1925, in Joliet, Ill., to Lester DeVere and Edna Jane (Holmes) Beach.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He graduated in 1949 from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was a 33rd Degree Mason, a lifetime member of the BPOE (PER), a past president of the American Business Club, and swimming coach at the YMCA all in Danville, Ill.
He was a beloved husband to his wife of 56 years, Alita (Waldman) Beach; and a beloved father to Robert Beach, II (Jo) of Kissimmee, Fla., and Jennifer J. Hooker (Gary) of Pompano Beach, Fla.; other survivors include one sister, Jane Kamin of Peoria, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jacqueline Beach of Kissimmee, Fla., Robert Beach, III of Tallahassee, Fla., Renee Wade and Travis Witt, both of Orlando, Fla.; and one great-grandson, Tristan Parker Wade of Orlando, Fla.

Lorene E. ‘Gyke' Longfellow
HOOPESTON — Lorene E. "Gyke" Longfellow, 80, of Hoopeston, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2004) at her residence with her family in attendance.
She was born April 22, 1923, in Milford, the daughter of Geike and Jennie Riley Geiken.
She married Frank R. Longfellow Oct. 4, 1944, in Hoopeston.
He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1999.
She is survived by three sons, Geike (Jane) Longfellow, Terry (Kim Longfellow and Frank G. (Kristi) Longfellow, all of Hoopeston; two daughters, Tammy (Ron) Pearcy of Charleston, and Judy (Danny) Pierce of Hoopeston; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Longfellow had resided in Hoopeston, for 59 years.
She had been employed by Pla-Mor Lanes and Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital.
She attended the First Church of God in Hoopeston.
She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren also enjoyed Sunday evening services at the Cowboy Church in Hoopeston, with her friends, Lela Davis and LaVonne Barker.

Alice E. Fisher, 89, of Danville, passed away at 12:43 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 22, 2003) at Danville Care Nursing Home.
Elmer L. Learnard
GEORGETOWN — Elmer L. Learnard, 92, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:37 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 3, 2004) at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman.
Elmer was born Nov. 18, 1911, in Georgetown, the son of Ossie and Mabel E. (Learnard) Prouty.
After the death of his parents, Elmer was adopted and raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt Edna (Clingan) Learnard.
Elmer married Leone V. Bentley on March 26, 1934.
She preceded him in death in September of 2000.
Survivors include: two sons, Ben (Karen) Learnard and Bill (Liz) Learnard, both of Georgetown; also five grandchildren, Mark (Lori) Learnard, Scott (Teresa) Learnard, Clark Learnard, Steve (Lisa) Learnard, and Greg (Cindy) Learnard; six step-grandchildren, Lezlie McMillin, Robin (Mike) Fetters, Troy (Julie) Randall, Damon Randall, Beth (Tom) Dekker, and Blaine (Heather) Bensyl; seven great-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Cecile Prouty, and one brother, Burton Prouty.
Elmer was a 1930 graduate of Georgetown High School.
Elmer was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, charter member of the Catlin Lions Club, 32nd Degree Mason.
Elmer farmed for most of his life and he was always very involved in Ag Business and traveled around the world.
Elmer's many hobbies included world travel, softball, euchre and coffee shop friends.
Elmer enjoyed wintering in Harlingen, Texas.

Mary T. Pettigrew
WESTVILLE - Mary T. Pettigrew, 65, of Westville, died at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2004) at her residence.
Mary was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Covington, Ind., the daughter of Willard and Lucile King Whisler.
She married John R. Pettigrew Jr., Nov. 10, 1989, in Danville.
He preceded her in death Sept. 14, 1995.
She is survived by her children, Michael McClure and Lisa (Mark) Stinespring, both of Westville, and Tamara (David) Elmore of Catlin; two sisters, Lucy (Lane) Causey in Louisiana, and Susan (Greg) Franklin in Arkansas; five grandchildren, Mary Pate, Michele McClure, Jeremy (Amy) Stinespring, Rebecca Stinespring and Ryan Elmore and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville.
Mary enjoyed shopping for antiques, her flower and vegetable garden and going mushrooming with her husband, John.
Her biggest joy was her family and her beloved dog, "Rascal."
Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main St., Danville; .

L. Russell ‘Teed' Hoult
CHRISMAN — L. Russell "Teed" Hoult, 82, of 433 N. Indiana St., Chrisman, died at 12:07 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2004) at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
He was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Chrisman, the son of Matthew and June Jamison Hoult.
He married Opal Martin Bennett, Nov. 25, 1964, in Chrisman.
She preceded him in death Jan. 24, 2000.
Survivors include one stepson, Jim Bennett of Chesterton, Ind.; three granddaughters, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one stepson.
Mr. Hoult was a retired painter and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Chrisman American Legion Post #477 and the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #148.
